CELESTIAL MECHANICS – A DEVOTIONAL INQUIRY: THE MILKY WAY GALAXY SYSTEM IS JUST ONE OF THE BILLIONS OF GALAXIES THAT MAKE UP THE UNIVERSE. SUN’S PERIOD OF REVOLUTION, ITS CIRCULAR ORBIT ABOUT THE GALACTIC CENTER TAKES ABOUT 200 MILLION YEARS. HOW SHOULD WE INTERPRET THIS INFORMATION?

Yes indeed, Life is complicated. The complexities of Life do not perplex me for I am totally unaware of the realities of motion. 1. I exist on the surface of Whole Planet without experiencing the speed of Earth, and 2. I may think that I am at a perfect rest, lying in the comfort of my bed while the living matter or the living substance of my body never ceases its motion. Protoplasm or Cytoplasm is the organ of motion or movement and Life ceases to happen if the motion or movement of Protoplasm or Cytoplasm stops.

The Rudolf-Rudi Connection explores the Dynamics of Whole Equilibrium.

The concept of Equilibrium explained by Physics must be reconciled with the information provided by Biological Science which describes the Life in Motion.

The Rudolf-Rudi Connection explores the Dynamics of Whole Equilibrium.

I ask my readers to learn about the importance of the motion or movement of Cytoplasm often described as Cytoplasmic Streaming. I am sharing the information from a Text Book of Medical Physiology that explains the role of Cytoplasmic Streaming in the transportation of Neuropeptides in the Nervous System.

Organization of the Nervous System, Basic Functions of Synapses, and Neurotransmitters

John E. Hall PhD, in Guyton and Hall Textbook of Medical Physiology, 2021

Neuropeptides

The Rudolf-Rudi Connection explains the Dynamics of Whole Equilibrium. Life in Motion. The Role of Cytoplasmic Streaming in the Functions of the Nervous System.

Neuropeptides are synthesized differently and have actions that are usually slow and in other ways different from those of the small-molecule transmitters. The neuropeptides are not synthesized in the cytosol of the presynaptic terminals. Instead, they are synthesized as integral parts of large-protein molecules by ribosomes in the neuronal cell body.

The protein molecules then enter the spaces inside the endoplasmic reticulum of the cell body and subsequently inside the Golgi apparatus, where two changes occur. First, the neuropeptide-forming protein is enzymatically split into smaller fragments, some of which are either the neuropeptide itself or a precursor of it. Second, the Golgi apparatus packages the neuropeptide into minute transmitter vesicles that are released into the cytoplasm. Then, the transmitter vesicles are transported all the way to the tips of the nerve fibers byaxonal streaming of the axon cytoplasm, traveling at the slow rate of only a few centimeters per day. Finally, these vesicles release their transmitter at the neuronal terminals in response to action potentials in the same manner as for small-molecule transmitters. However, the vesicle is autolyzed and is not reused.

Because of this laborious method of forming the neuropeptides, much smaller quantities of neuropeptides than the small-molecule transmitters are usually released. This difference is partly compensated for by the fact that the neuropeptides are generally a thousand or more times as potent as the small-molecule transmitters. Another important characteristic of the neuropeptides is that they often cause much more prolonged actions. Some of these actions include prolonged closure of calcium channels, prolonged changes in the metabolic machinery of cells, prolonged changes in activation or deactivation of specific genes in the cell nucleus, and/or prolonged alterations in numbers of excitatory or inhibitory receptors. Some of these effects last for days, but others last perhaps for months or years. Our knowledge of the functions of the neuropeptides is only beginning to develop.

Neuropeptide and Small-Molecule Transmitters May Coexist in the Same Neurons

Slowly acting neuropeptide transmitters and rapidly acting, small-moleculetransmitters are often stored and released from the same neurons. In some cases, two or more of these transmitters areco-localized in the same synaptic vesicles and areco-released when an action potential reaches the presynaptic terminal. In other cases, these transmitters may be localized in different populations of synaptic vesicles of the same neuron and contribute toco-transmission of signals to a postsynaptic neuron. Moreover, their release may be differentially regulated because of different calcium ion sensitivities or spatial segregation of the vesicles on different boutons.

Whole Dynamics vs Laplacian Determinism:

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: LAPLACIAN DETERMINISM. FRENCH MATHEMATICIAN PIERRE SIMON LAPLACE(1749-1827) PROPOSED A VIEW THAT THE UNIVERSE CAN RUN LIKE A MACHINE WITH NO CAPACITY FOR FREE CHOICE IN ANY OF ITS BEHAVIOR.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: LAPLACIAN DETERMINISM. FRENCH MATHEMATICIAN PIERRE SIMON LAPLACE (1749-1827) PROPOSED A VIEW THAT THE UNIVERSE CAN RUN LIKE A MACHINE WITH NO CAPACITY FOR FREE CHOICE IN ANY OF ITS BEHAVIOR.

The view called “Laplacian Determinism” is not the basis for Peace, Harmony, Tranquility, and Equilibrium that plays a central role in sustaining human existence. Laplace proposed his theory without making the distinction between animate, and inanimate material bodies.

Whole Dynamics – Whole Equilibrium vs Laplacian Determinism

The French astronomer and mathematician, Pierre Simon De Laplace (b. March 28, 1749, d. March 5, 1827) confirmed the long-term stability of the Solar System by mathematically demonstrating the long-term periodicity of three sets of irregularities in the motions of Solar System bodies; 1. the acceleration of the mean motions of the mutually perturbing planets Jupiter and Saturn, 2. the acceleration of the mean motions of the mutually perturbing inner three Galilean satellites of Jupiter, and 3. the acceleration of the mean motion of the Moon. He published a monumental 5-volume work, “Traite de Mecanique Celeste” Treatise on Celestial Mechanics during 1799 to 1825. He applied Newtonian Gravitation to the entire Solar System. Issac Newton believed that divine intervention was periodically required to preserve the Solar System in equilibrium. Laplace demonstrated the invariability of planetary mean motions, Jupiter’s orbit appeared to be continuously shrinking while Saturn’s continually expanded. Laplace offers a complete mechanical interpretation of the Solar System by devising methods for calculating the motions of the planets and their satellites and their perturbations. Laplace proposed a view that is called “Laplacian Determinism.” He claims the attribute of universe to run on like a machine with no capacity for caprice or free choice in any of its behavior, including that of the living beings who are also subject to Newtonian Mechanics. Laplace describes that Classical Mechanics has a fully deterministic character; given the masses, and the forces, and the initial positions and velocities exactly, exact predictions of future and past behavior can be found. Laplace supports his theory on the basis of valid, mathematical calculations but his view cannot be applied to the living beings.

Laplace’s Determinism: given the position and velocity of all particles at an instant, plus the laws of nature, the entire future and past of the universe can be calculated. But: the idea that all natural processes can be reduced to motion of atoms, and that there is a fixed set of exact laws of nature determining this motion, would have seemed overly simplistic by the late 19th century.

In my view, no exact, or precise predictions can be made about the past or future behavior of living beings. Human existence is conditioned, and at any given instant, the fact of existence demands the operation of a Fundamental Force that I would call ‘Love’. While Newton’s Classical Mechanics is useful for all practical applications to large-scale systems, it cannot account for the ‘Equilibrium’ that is the basis for human existence; the Equilibrium in which any number of forces balance each other and thereby cancel giving rise to the experience of Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the living condition. I prefer the term “Whole Equilibrium” to account for human existence as it demands a study of equilibrium that goes beyond Mechanics, Statics, and Dynamics.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: HUMAN EXISTENCE DEMANDS A BALANCE OR HARMONY TO MAINTAIN A STEADY STATE CALLED DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM OR “WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM.” IN WHICH THE LIVING BEING HAS THE EXPERIENCE CALLED PEACE, HARMONY, AND TRANQUILITY. I PREFER THE TERM “WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM” FOR IT GOES BEYOND THE STUDY OF MECHANICS, STATICS, AND DYNAMICS.

Mechanics is the branch of Physics that deals with the motion of material bodies and the phenomena of the action of forces on bodies in motion. Dynamics is the branch of Mechanics dealing with the motions of material bodies under the action of given, or applied forces. Dynamics includes Kinematics which is the study of motion without regard to the forces producing it, and Kinetics which is the study of the forces that produce or change motion. The branch of Mechanics called Statics deals with bodies at rest or in equilibrium. The maintenance of equilibrium in bodies depends upon the interaction of forces acting upon them. In a state of equilibrium the resultant of all outside forces acting on a body is zero, thus keeping the body at rest.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: IT WILL BE INCORRECT TO ASSUME THAT A STATIONARY PERSON IS IN A STATE OF EQUILIBRIUM. LIFE IS A DYNAMIC EVENT. THE LIVING BEING IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING. THE THING OR BODY CALLED LIVING BEING IS ALWAYS IN MOTION AND THE FACT OF MOTION BRINGS CHANGES EVEN WHEN THE OBJECT IS NOT MOVING IN ITS EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE NORMAL FORCE ‘N’ TO MAINTAIN VERTICAL GAIT IN STATIONARY POSITION IS COUNTERACTED BY ‘W’ THE WEIGHT OF THE PERSON. IT WILL BE INCORRECT TO ASSUME THAT A STATIONARY PERSON IS IN A STATE OF EQUILIBRIUM.

The term ‘Equilibrium’ refers to a state of balance or equality between opposing forces. When applied to living things, equilibrium refers to the ability of the animal body to keep itself properly oriented or positioned; bodily stability or bodily balance. However, the term ‘Equilibrium’ when applied to man, it may refer to a state of balance or adjustment of conflicting desires, interests, etc., Very often, equilibrium is used to describe a mental state of equanimity which demands mental or emotional stability or balance, or poise. In Physics, a motionless person is in Static Equilibrium because the forces acting on the person add up to zero. In the above image, both forces acting on the stationary person are vertical. However, the fact of Static Equilibrium may not describe the presence or absence of Mental Equilibrium.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE CAR IS IN DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM BECAUSE IT IS MOVING AT CONSTANT VELOCITY. THERE ARE HORIZONTAL, AND VERTICAL FORCES, BUT THE NET EXTERNAL FORCE IN ANY DIRECTION IS ZERO.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE CAR IS IN DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM BECAUSE IT IS MOVING AT CONSTANT VELOCITY. THERE ARE HORIZONTAL, AND VERTICAL FORCES, BUT THE NET EXTERNAL FORCE IN ANY DIRECTION IS ZERO.

Static Equilibrium is a state of equilibrium in which the ne external force and torque acting on a system is zero. Dynamic Equilibrium is a state of equilibrium in which the net external force and torque on a system moving with constant velocity are zero. In the above image, the car is in Dynamic Equilibrium because it is moving at constant velocity. There are horizontal, and vertical forces, but the net external force in any direction is zero. The weight of the car is supported by the normal forces shown to be equal for all four tires. The applied force F app between the tires and the road is balanced by air friction, and ‘w’ the weight of the car. Dynamic Equilibrium is applied in Thermodynamics for systems involving reversible reactions. In a dynamic equilibrium, the rate of loss is equal to the rate of gain.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: IN MAN, HEALTH IS RELATIVE EQUILIBRIUM OF BODY FORM AND FUNCTION WHICH RESULTS FROM ITS SUCCESSFUL DYNAMIC ADJUSTMENT TO FORCES TENDING TO DISTURB IT.

Man is a living system that demands a condition called ‘Whole Equilibrium’ to maintain its existence as a living being. Health is relative equilibrium of body form and function which results from its successful dynamic adjustment to forces tending to disturb it.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: TO DESCRIBE EQUILIBRIUM AS APPLIED TO MAN, THE FACT OF BEING AT PHYSICAL REST OR IN A STATE OF MOTION IN THE GIVEN EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT ARE LESS RELEVANT COMPARED TO THE REQUIREMENT OF "HOMEOSTASIS" AS DEFINED BY FRENCH PHYSICIAN CLAUDE BERNARD.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: TO DESCRIBE EQUILIBRIUM AS APPLIED TO MAN, THE FACT OF BEING AT PHYSICAL REST OR IN A STATE OF MOTION IN THE GIVEN EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT ARE LESS RELEVANT COMPARED TO THE REQUIREMENT OF “HOMEOSTASIS” AS DEFINED BY FRENCH PHYSICIAN CLAUDE BERNARD.

To describe ‘Equilibrium’ as applied to man, the concept of “Homeostatis” as defined by the French physician Claude Bernard is very important. Bernard (1813-78) is recognized as the founder of experimental medicine. He states, “All the vital mechanisms, varied as they are, have only one object; that of preserving constant the conditions of life.” All living things maintain a constant internal environment and try to make adjustments to gross changes in the external environmental conditions. Dr Bernard developed the concept of “Milieu Interieur”, the theory of “Inner Environment”; blood, and body fluids constitute the “internal environment” in which cells carry out their activities. The term “Homeostasis” in Physiology refers to the tendency to maintain, or the maintenance of, normal, internal stability in an organism by coordinated responses of the organ systems that automatically compensate for environmental changes. At any given instant, man’s existence as a material body depends on conditions like Fluid and Electrolyte Balance, Acid-Base Regulation that is concerned  with Hydrogen ion (H+) concentration and Bicarbonate concentration in blood. Life is possible only if  the Hydrogen ion concentration of body fluids is kept within a narrow range; pH value of 7.37 to 7.45 is maintained by several closely integrated but widely differing mechanisms. The chemical events collectively called Metabolism require the concentration of Hydrogen ions and electrolytes to remain within narrow limits in the tissue cells and in the fluids which bathes them. This concept of “Homeostasis” is also applicable to any analogous maintenance of stability or equilibrium in any given social group. Man fundamentally exists as a Social Being and Social Equilibrium as a factor governing living bodies must be given due recognition. Gravitation, Electricity, and Magnetism are different kinds of physical forces, and Mechanics as a Physical Science  can explain the manner in which bodies move under the action of physical forces. In Physics, the simplest mechanical system is the ‘Particle’, a small body and its internal structure and its dimensions are of no consequence in the given problem. Planet Earth may be considered as a rigid – body in which each point is always at a fixed distance from every other. Earth behaves like a Particle as it moves around the Sun and can be treated as a rigid- body in its rotation about its axis. In Classical Mechanics, the bodies are stiff and their deformations have no effect on their motions. Newton’s Laws of Motion assume that the body is a Particle for it covers only the overall motion of a body i.e., the motion of its center of mass and not any rigid-body motion such as rotation. These concepts of ‘Particle’, ‘Rigid-Body’, and ‘Motion’ that are used in Physics and Celestial Mechanics cannot be easily applied in the study of living bodies.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE CONCEPTS OF PARTICLE, RIGID-BODY, AND MOTION USED IN CELESTIAL MECHANICS CANNOT BE APPLIED TO LIVING BODIES. MAN NEEDS THE OPERATION OF THE FUNDAMENTAL FORCE CALLED LOVE TO COUNTERACT ALL OTHER FORCES THAT ACT ON MAN TO PROVIDE HIM THE SENSE OF EQUILIBRIUM.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE CONCEPTS OF PARTICLE, RIGID-BODY, AND MOTION USED IN CELESTIAL MECHANICS CANNOT BE APPLIED TO LIVING BODIES. MAN NEEDS THE OPERATION OF THE FUNDAMENTAL FORCE CALLED LOVE TO COUNTERACT ALL OTHER FORCES THAT ACT ON MAN TO PROVIDE HIM THE SENSE OF EQUILIBRIUM.

I agree that the Laws of Mechanics, with Time, Space, and Mass as their fundamental variables have a universality that is adequate for describing a variety of natural phenomena. All changes in material non-living things are either the local motions of bodies or the result of the local motions of their parts. Motions are determined in their magnitude and direction by the impressed force which one body exerts upon another and the resistance of that other body.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING: THE HUMAN ORGANISM RUNS ITS LIVING FUNCTIONS AS IF OPERATED BY A PRECISE TIMEKEEPING DEVICE OR BIOLOGICAL CLOCK. MAN’S EXPERIENCE OF TIME IS RELATED TO SUN’S APPARENT MOTIONS IN THE SKY. MAN KNOWS THE REALITY OF TIME BECAUSE OF AN ILLUSION THAT CAUSES DAY AND NIGHT GIVING MAN THE PERCEPTION OF SUN’S APPARENT MOTION WHILE CONCEALING THE REALITY OF SUN’S MOTION IN THE MILKY WAY GALAXY.

Can Life be explained in terms of the Laws of Mechanics, that is, the “Push” or “Pull” of one body upon another?  I agree that Mechanics signifies a whole philosophy of Nature, a set of fundamental principles under which all the physical sciences can be unified. The principles of Mechanics are applied in Statics, Dynamics, Acoustics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Magnetism, and Electricity. It covers a variety of phenomena from Celestial Mechanics to motions of indivisible particles or Quantum Mechanics. I have no particular concern for Quantum Mechanics, for the operation of the Living Systems is concerned with the structural, and functional organization that mostly involves chemical molecules. The Living Substance is always in motion; the man is also always in motion; but the living thing exists as a rigid-body measuring its lifespan using the clues of time intervals or duration between Sunrise and Sunset which track the apparent motion of Sun across earthly sky.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ETERNAL LAW OF AGING: THERE ARE SEVERAL THEORIES ABOUT SENESCENCE. APART FROM THE MEASUREMENT OF CHRONOLOGICAL AGE, IT WOULD BE VERY USEFUL TO ASSESS AND MEASURE THE BIOLOGICAL AGE OF THE HUMAN ORGANISM AS THAT WOULD HELP TO PREDICT AGE-RELATED CHANGES IN THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION AND INVENT INTERVENTION MECHANISMS TO REDIRECT OR REGULATE THE AGING PROCESS.

The realities of Celestial Mechanics do not operate the Living Systems as Life demands the intervention called illusion and the blocking of the ability to experience the real motions of planets, satellites, and stars. For man to experience the condition called ‘rest’, or ‘equilibrium’, or ‘static equilibrium’, or ‘dynamic equilibrium’ needs the operation of a Fundamental Force called Love that counteracts all the forces acting upon human body at any given instant.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: PLANET EARTH IS MOVING ALL THE TIME AT AN AMAZING SPEED. HUMAN BODY HAS A BUILT IN TIMING MECHANISM THAT OPERATES ON A 24 HOUR CYCLE THAT OPERATES A DAILY ROUTINE FROM REST TO ACTIVITY. THE TIME-KEEPING PROCESSES ARE AT WORK ALL THE TIME AND FORCE MAN TO MARK HIS TIME ON EARTH BY SUBMITTING TO THE ETERNAL LAW OF AGING. THE PHOTO IMAGE SHOWS ASTRONOMICAL CLOCK IN PRAGUE.

In my view, the terms rest, equilibrium, static equilibrium, and dynamic equilibrium cannot be applied to living bodies, and living systems. If the term Love is used to describe the Fundamental Force that acts upon living bodies, and living systems, the study of Life in Motion must be described as Whole Dynamics, and Whole Equilibrium.

Whole Dude – Whole Question

Half Full or Half Empty is not the Right Question – Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

Excerpt: When I drink from the ‘Cup of my Life’; What I truly experience from my life, the reality of my condition is more important than my attitude towards existence. The man has no hope to find happiness until and unless he renounces all desires including the desire to find happiness. The man has no choice other than that of living in the moment without concern for either pessimism or optimism. The attitude of dispassion automatically excludes both pessimism and optimism.

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY? IS THAT REALLY IMPORTANT?

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

I drank from that cup. Now, the cup could be described as half full or half empty. Is that really important? The cup that I drink from gives me pain and I experience suffering. What would be the right question if I have to drink from that cup? What I truly experience from my life, the reality of my condition is more important than my attitude towards my existence. The issue is not about optimism or pessimism. I need to focus on knowing the reality and I need to face the reality about what I experience when I drink from that Cup of my Life.

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THIS CUP TO BE TAKEN AWAY FROM ME ?

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

I would answer this question from a reading from The New Testament of The Holy Bible. I would like to quote verses 36 to 44, chapter 26, The Gospel According to Matthew.

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

36. Then Jesus came with His disciples to a place called Gethsemane and said to them, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.”

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

37. And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

38. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

39. He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless not as I will, but as You will.”

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

40. Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?

41.”Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

42. Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, may Your will be done.”

43. And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

44. So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

Jesus had prayed three times, saying the same words. It was not possible for the cup to pass away and Jesus had to drink from the cup.

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

THE TEACHINGS OF GAUTAMA BUDDHA:

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Lord Gautama Buddha has laid the foundation for understanding Pain and Suffering that is implicit in Human Existence. Half Full or Half Empty? – What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

At age 29, Prince Siddhartha realized that humans are subject to old age, sickness, disability and death. He became aware of the suffering implicit in human existence. Buddha described the nature of reality and Dharma (“true law”) as the Four Noble Truths (1) life is fundamentally disappointment and suffering; (2) suffering is a result of one’s desires for pleasure, power, and continued existence; (3) to stop disappointment and suffering one must stop desiring and (4) the way to stop desiring and thus suffering is the Noble Eightfold Path- right views, intention, speech, conduct, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration.

From the hymns popularly known as Bhaja Govindam, while I drink from the Cup of my Life, I will keep contemplate on the concept of dispassion:

“KASYA SUKHAM NA KAROTI VIRAGAH”

Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty? What is the real Question? Can You Drink the Cup I Drink?

suramandira-taru-mūla-nivāsaḥ
śayyā bhūtalamajinaṃ vāsaḥ ।
sarva-parigraha-bhōgatyāgaḥ
kasya sukhaṃ na karōti virāgaḥ ॥ 19 ॥

Living in temples or at the foot of trees, sleeping on the ground, wearing deer-skin, renouncing all possessions and their enjoyment – to whom will not dispassion bring happiness?

The verse 19 in Shankaracharya’s Bhaja Govindam questions, “Kasya sukham na karoti viragah?”, which means, “What pleasure cannot be given by dispassion?” It gives all the pleasures because you are so totally living in the moment.

– What is the real Question?
Whole Dude – Whole Question: Half Full or Half Empty doesn’t change the reality of the experience.

On the New Moon Day of July 2023, the Rudi-Grant Connection reflects upon Calendar and Date Organization

Bharat Darshan – Musings on Monday, July 17, 2023, Shravan Amavasya, the New Moon Day of Shravan Month

The Hindu calendar’s Somvati Amavasya, Hariyali Amavasya or Sawan (Shravan) Amavasya is observed in the month of Shravan. It is considered auspicious for the Hindu community. Hariyali Amavasya 2023 will be observed this year on July 17, 2023.

Bharat Darshan – Musings on Monday, July 17, 2023, Shravan Amavasya, the New Moon Day of Shravan Month

Shravana Amavasya comes in Krishna Paksha of Shravana month, the fifth month in Hindu Panchang. It is also known by the name of Hariyali Amavasya. Prayers are offered to Gods and Goddesses on this day to seek their blessings for good rains and a plentiful harvest following that. Worshipping Lord Shiva on this day is considered highly auspicious. Other than this, offering obaltion (Pind Daan) to forefathers for their peaceful afterlife is also performed on this day.

Calendar and Date Organization

Bharat Darshan – Musings on Monday, July 17, 2023, Shravan Amavasya, the New Moon Day of Shravan Month

Calendar divisions are based on the movements of the Earth and the regular appearances of the Sun and the Moon, and a calendar typically works by dividing time up into units of days, weeks, months and years. Most of these units are based on objectively verifiable astronomical cycles, although the use of weeks within calendars are dedicated to celestial bodies such as Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn, and may not be tied to any astronomical cycle.

Types of Calendar

Bharat Darshan – Musings on Monday, July 17, 2023, Shravan Amavasya, the New Moon Day of Shravan Month

Almost all calendars divide up the days into months and years, but exactly how they do so varies. Most calendars synchronize their periods with the cycle of the Sun or Moon (or both), although some Ancient Egyptian calendars appear to have been synchronized to the motion of the planet Venus and/or the Dog Star Sirius. Because the period of the Moon does not neatly match the period of the Sun, no calendar can be truly based on both, and so a choice must be made, often incorporating periodic adjustments in order to match the two (a trade-off between accuracy and convenience).

The main types of calendar are:

Solar calendar (e.g. the Persian Calendar, the Gregorian Calendar) is synchronized to the apparent motion of the Sun over the year and thus remains in line with annual seasonal changes. It makes no attempt to match the changes in the Moon, and the division into months is purely nominal.

Lunar calendar (e.g. the Islamic Calendar) is synchronized to the phases of the Moon. Because a lunar month is not an even fraction of a year, a purely lunar calendar tends to drift against the seasons.

Luni-solar calendar (e.g. the Hebrew calendar, the Hindu calendar) is based on a combination of both lunar and solar reckonings (i.e. months are based on lunar months, but years are based on solar years), in which most years have 12 months but every second or third year has 13 (including a leap month) in order to realign with the annual seasons.

Intercalation

The insertion of additional leap days or leap months into some calendar years in order to synchronize the calendar to the seasons or moon phases is called intercalation or embolism.

In the case of lunar and luni-solar calendars, the months (known as lunar months or synodic months) approximate the cycle of the Moon’s phases, a period of about 29.5 days, for which many lunar calendars use alternating months of 29 and 30 days. However, because a lunar month is not an even fraction of a year (there are about 12.37 lunar months in a year), a purely lunar calendar tends to drift against the seasons unless adjusted periodically, such as by the addition of a leap month every two or three years.

In the case of solar calendars, the months are fractions of the tropical or solar year (i.e. the length of time the Sun takes to return to the same position in the cycle of seasons, as seen from Earth). Even with a solar calendar, though, the number of days in a year is not an exact whole number (approximately 365.242), so that a system of adding an extra leap dayevery fourth year (leap years) is instituted in many solar calendars, or more complex variations thereof.

Insertion of Leap Month or Adhik Maas or Mal Maas in Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar

In the Hindu calendar, once every three years, an additional month comes, which is called Adhikamas. Adhik Maas in the year 2023 is starting on 18 July 2023, which will end on 16 August 2023. There is no transit or solstice of the Sun in Adhik Maas, that is, there is no change in the sun sign in the whole month. Because of this, this month becomes dirty, that is, it is called Mal Maas.

Bharat Darshan – Musings on Monday, July 17, 2023, Shravan Amavasya, the New Moon Day of Shravan Month

According to astrology, the process of transition of the Sun from one zodiac sign to another is called Sankranti. Sun God changes his zodiac almost every month. The month in which the zodiac sign of the Sun does not change. That month is called Mal Maas or Adhik Maas.

Adhik Maas has special significance in Hinduism. The proprietor of this month is Lord Vishnu. Even though auspicious works like marriage, naming, house warming ceremonies are prohibited, it is very beneficial to do religious works like worship recitation, chanting, penance, and fast-fasting. It is believed that worship done in this month gives ten times the yield.

Bharat Darshan – Musings on Monday, July 17, 2023, Shravan Amavasya, the New Moon Day of Shravan Month

In 2023, Adhik Maas will start from July 18 and end on August 16, offering a rare combination with Shravan Maas and providing ample opportunity for devotees to strengthen their devotion towards Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Month Shravan is dedicated to glorify Lord Shiva. Adhik Maas is dedicated to glorify Lord Vishnu.

Dakshinayana 2023

Bharat Darshan – Musings on Monday, July 17, 2023, Shravan Amavasya, the New Moon Day of Shravan Month

In Hinduism, the 6-month period from 16th July to 13th January is Dakshinayana, while the 6-month period from 14th January to 15th July is Uttarayana. While Uttarayana marks the northward movement of the Sun, Dakshinayana marks its southward movement.

On July 16, 2023, Sun enters the sign of Cancer or Karka and marks the beginning of Sun’s southward journey.

Facts about Dakshinayana

Bharat Darshan – Musings on Monday, July 17, 2023, Shravan Amavasya, the New Moon Day of Shravan Month

Dakshinayana starts on July 16th. Initially, the days are long. Then they become shorter and shorter over the next 6 months. As summer gives way to winter, the daylight decreases during this period. The Sun’s energy is at its peak when Dakshinayana begins. The Sun is very hot, and we feel tired and drained of energy. Dakshinayana is the nighttime of the Devas. So we need to put in more effort and work harder during this time. A human year is equal to one day of gods in the Hindu religion.

Dakshinayana is the southward path. It is also the path of Yama. It represents ‘bhautikvaad’, meaning that we go after material pursuits and away from the spiritual path. Hence, we should do penance, fasting, prayers, and purification rites to reduce its influence. For this reason, Dakshinayana is called Sadhana Pada, or the period of purification through tapasya and sadhana. During this time, the chakras below the Anahata/heart chakra can be purified very easily, as our energy is flowing downward in these 6 months.

As Dakshinamurthy – Shiva as the cosmic teacher- sat facing the south (Dakshin) in order to pass on his knowledge and wisdom, he has an association with this period. He started transmitting the fundamentals of Yoga to the Sapta Rishis, who were his first seven disciples. He turned south as the Sun turned south. This was the first phase of his teaching, or the Sadhana pada, where he taught the Rishis what they should do. Uttarayan is the Samadhi pada or Kaivalya pada, which is the time for realization.

During Dakshinayana, Vishnu is believed to be asleep for a period of 4 months, between Ashada and Karthika months. These 4 months are called Chaturmasya, and the Ekadasi just before Karka Sankranti is Devshayani Ekadashi.

The 6 months of Dakshinayana are divided into 3 seasons:

Varsha Ritu (monsoon) – Shravana and Bhadra months (Mid-July- Mid- Sept)

Sharad Ritu (autumn) –Asvina and Karthika months (Mid-Sept- Mid Nov)

Hemanta Ritu (late autumn) – Margashirsa and Pausha (Mid Nov- Mid Jan)

Rationalism vs Irrationalism. Man’s Existence is shaped by Flat Earth with Arched Dome Experience

RATIONALISM vs IRRATIONALISM. MAN’S EXISTENCE IS SHAPED BY FLAT EARTH WITH ARCHED DOME EXPERIENCE.

“Earth is Flat.” This statement can be verified using Pure Reasoning, by a rational interpretation of scientific theories called the Geocentric Theory, and the Heliocentric Theory.

Rationalism vs Irrationalism – Earth is Flat.
Rationalism vs Irrationalism – Earth is Flat. Heliocentric Model needs verification using method of Pure Reasoning.
Rationalism vs Irrationalism. Earth is Flat. Pure Reasoning supports the Geocentric Model.

The man experiences the reality of Sun’s ‘apparent’ motion across the Sky. I verify this statement by attaching my reasoning. The man’s days of real, physical, observed, verified existence on Earth’s Surface is determined by “Apparent Motion” (or Ecliptic Path) of Sun and not by Sun’s “Real Motion” around the Milky Way Galactic Center.

Rationalism vs Irrationalism. Earth is Flat for Man recognizes Sun’s Path while standing on Flat Disc of Earth.
Rationalism vs Irrationalism – Earth is Flat. Sun’s real motion in Milky Way Galaxy is unknown to Man who only experiences the Reality of Sun’s apparent motion across the Sky.On bhavanajagat.com

The man is able to live and is able to keep his existence for Earth provides the experience of Flat Surface or Flat Disc. No Scientific Information has Power to overcome this direct Sensory Experience that governs all Living Functions or Biological Rhythms. A ‘Rationalist’ will give attention to his own direct Sensory Experience as keeping one’s own Life is the most Reasonable Doctrine.

The rational interpretation of scientific information

Rationalism vs Irrationalism – Earth is Flat. Genesis 1:16.

The doctrine of Rationalism uses Pure Reasoning to discover truth.

We need a rational interpretation of scientific information. What does Science say about Sun? We need to comprehend Science and make a rational interpretation using reason, and empirical data if not by faith or belief in God.

The First Book of Moses, The Old Testament Book of Genesis claims that Sun and Moon are  appointed as lamps in the sky to illuminate world during Day and Night.

Let me know as to which part of Science you do not understand.

WELCOME TO THE SUMMER SEASON 2019. WHOLE MECHANICS-WHOLE DYNAMICS

WELCOME TO THE SUMMER SEASON 2019. WHOLE MECHANICS-WHOLE DYNAMICS

Welcome to the Summer Season 2019. Whole Mechanics-Whole Dynamics.

On Friday, June 21, 2019, I celebrate the Summer Solstice, the beginning of the Summer Season sharing my thoughts on this celestial event.

Welcome to the Summer Season 2019. Whole Mechanics-Whole Dynamics.

The Man’s experience of Day and Night, and of the changing Seasons are not determined by the true or real motions of Sun in the Milky Way Galaxy. The experience of the Summer Season is not on account of planet Earth’s proximity to Sun during its circular orbit around Sun.

Welcome to the Summer Season 2019. Whole Mechanics-Whole Dynamics.

I apply Pure Reasoning, or the Doctrine of Rationalism to formulate my concepts of Whole Mechanics and Whole Dynamics. In practical terms, the Geocentric Theory is valid for it accounts for the experience of Day and Night, and of the changing Seasons. Most importantly, the Man needs the experience of his existence on the surface of a Flat Disc with an overhead arched dome called Sky or Heaven where he observes the apparent motions of Sun, stars, and planets.

Welcome to the Summer Season 2019. Whole Mechanics-Whole Dynamics.

Welcome to the Summer Season 2019. Whole Mechanics-Whole Dynamics.

Summer will officially arrive in the Northern Hemisphere today (June 21), marking the longest day, the shortest night and the beginning of summer.

The June solstice will occur at 11:54 a.m. EDT (1554 GMT), as the sun reaches the point at which it is farthest north of the celestial equator. To be more precise, when the solstice occurs, the sun will appear to shine directly overhead for a viewer stationed on the Tropic of Cancer (latitude 23.5 degrees north) in the western Atlantic Ocean, roughly 600 miles (965 kilometers) to the northwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

From midnorthern latitudes, we can never see the sun directly overhead, but the same principle holds. For example, as seen from Philadelphia at 1:02 p.m. EDT on solstice day, the sun will attain its highest point in the sky for this entire year, standing 74 degrees above the southern horizon.

To gauge how high that is, your clenched fist held at arm’s length measures roughly 10 degrees, so from the City of Brotherly Love, the sun will appear to climb more than “seven fists” above the southern horizon. And since the sun will appear to describe such a high arc across the sky, daylight will be at its longest extreme, lasting 15 hours and 1 minute.

Twilight zones

But this doesn’t mean we can stargaze for the remaining 9 hours, because we also need to take twilight into consideration. Around the time of the June solstice at latitude 40 degrees north, morning and evening twilight each last 2 hours, so the sky is fully dark for only 5 hours.

Farther north, twilight lasts even longer. At 45 degrees, it lingers for 2.5 hours, and at 50 degrees, twilight persists through the night; the sky never gets completely dark. In contrast, heading south, twilight is shorter. At latitude 30, it lasts 96 minutes, while at the latitude of San Juan, it lingers for only 80 minutes. This phenomenon is why travelers from the northern U.S. who visit the Caribbean at this time of year get surprised at how quickly it gets dark after sunset compared to back home.

Incidentally, the earliest sunrise and latest sunset do not coincide with the summer solstice. The former occurred on June 14, while the latter does not come until June 27.

So far, so good

Some people think the Earth is at the closest point to the sun in its orbit at this time of year, but it is just the opposite. On July 4, at 6:11 p.m. EDT (2211 GMT), we’ll be at the point in our orbit farthest from the sun (called aphelion), 94,513,221 miles (152,104,285 km).

Conversely, back on Jan. 3, Earth was at perihelion, the point in its orbit closest to the sun. The difference in distance between these two extremes measures 3,109,667 miles (5,004,524 km), or 3.3% of the average distance between the sun and Earth. That small change leads to a difference of nearly 7% in the radiant heat received by the Earth.

Theoretically, for the Northern Hemisphere, the difference in the distance to the sun tends to warm our winters and cool our summers. But, the preponderance of large land masses in the Northern Hemisphere outweighs this effect, making our winters colder and summers hotter than those of the Southern Hemisphere.

Interestingly, it would be a much different story if we were on Mars. Compared to our nearly circular orbit, the orbit of Mars is noticeably more eccentric (elliptical). When Mars arrives at aphelion, the planet is receiving only 69% as much sunlight as it does at perihelion. This situation creates a seasonal asymmetry on Mars; the Martian southern hemisphere always suffers greater extremes between summer and winter than the northern hemisphere does.

After Aug. 7, it “gets late early”

After the sun arrives at its solstice point, it will begin to migrate back toward the south, and the amount of daylight in the Northern Hemisphere will decrease. Consider this: After today, the duration of daylight will not increase again until two days before Christmas.

But if you think about it, the length of daylight has been rather substantial since about the middle of May. And the lowering of the sun’s path in the sky and the diminishing of the daylight hours in the coming days and weeks will be rather subtle, at least initially, during the first half or so of summer.

The traditional midpoint of the summer season is Aug. 1 which is marked on some Christian calendars as Lammas Day. The name is derived from the Old English “loaf-mass,” because it was once observed as a harvest festival. But summer’s true midpoint — the moment that comes exactly between the summer solstice and the autumnal equinox in 2019 — will not occur until Aug. 7 at 7:52 a.m. EDT (1152 GMT). On that day, again, as seen from Philadelphia, the sun will set at 8:08 p.m., with the loss of daylight since June 21 amounting to just 57 minutes.

But in the second half of summer, the effects of the southward shift of the sun’s direct rays become much more noticeable. When autumn officially arrives, on Sept. 23, the sun for Philadelphians will set at 6:56 p.m., while the city will have lost 2 full hours of daylight since Aug. 7.

When he occasionally played left field during his Hall of Fame career with the Yankees, Yogi Berra would say that he didn’t mind the outfield, except for one thing: During August and September, as the shadows across the ball field progressively lengthened, it got increasingly difficult for him to see a baseball hit in his direction. Berra might not have been able to explain the science of why the altitude of the sun lowered so perceptibly during the latter half of the summer, but, as only he could do, he was able to sum it all up in a simple Yogism: “It gets late early out there.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR – WHOLE TIME – WHOLE PERCEPTION

HAPPY NEW YEAR – THE PERCEPTION OF TIME – “THE WHOLETIME”:

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015 - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME : I WISH ALL OF MY READERS A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015 – THE PERCEPTION OF TIME : I WISH ALL OF MY READERS A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.

THIS IS TO WISH ALL MY READERS A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: Man's perceptions and experience of Time depend upon several factors. The Past, and the Future have duration, but no existence. The Present exists but not endure. The arrival of New Year brings a sense of Hope, Expectation about Future that brings a sense of Joy, and Happiness.

The Present exists but does not endure. The arrival of New Year brings a sense of Hope, Expectation about Future that brings a sense of Joy, and Happiness. The idea of a Creator gives Time, the Past, the Present, and the Future to be viewed as a continuous “WholeTime.”

We run our lives by numbers on Clocks and Calendars. The Clocks and Calendars create the illusion that we live in a world of mathematically measured segments of time. Clocks and Calendars record or represent the passage of time in conventional units, but these conventions have some natural basis in Astronomical Time, the Solar Time and the Sidereal Time. It is a continuous quantity and it is divisible into segments, durations or periods.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: Solar Time is, Time measured with respect to the Sun.

Earth rotates on its axis as it revolves around Sun. Man’s experience of time is caused by Earth’s rotational spin which brings changes in the environment with alternating periods of light and darkness called Day and Night. In Biology, Time has a Cyclical Flow. Both Time and Life share the same nature, the nature of motion, movement, or change that is called ‘Dynamic’. In Aristotle’s view, Time is neither movement nor independent of movement. On planet Earth, Time is relative to Earth’s motion, and Time is used to measure motion.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: As Earth rotates from West to East, the Speed of a point on the Earth's surface depends on its location. The rotational speed of Earth is faster at the Equator. However, it must be noted that man has no sensory perception of the speed of Earth.

The experience of Time on this planet is an illusionary experience and is not an absolute experience. Time is affected by the gravitational field of each celestial body and thus is unique to any one spot in the universe. It must be noted that Sun and other stars in our neighborhood orbit the center of the Milky Way Galaxy every 230 million years, because the entire Galaxy is rotating. If galaxies are moving apart in the universe at a great speed, the position of any galaxy is not constant. Man’s perception of Time cannot be related to changes in Space as planet Earth partakes in all these motions of Sun and the Milky Way Galaxy. At no instant, planet Earth occupies the same Space and man practically exists with no awareness of these changes in Earth’s spatial relationships.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: Sun, and other stars in our neighborhood orbit the center of the Milky Way Galaxy every 230 million years, because the entire Galaxy is rotating. Apart from this motion, the galaxies are moving apart from each other at a great speed in Space. Man's Perception of Time remains a subjective, illusionary experience and man has no perceptional ability of changes in Earth-Space relationship other than that of knowing the apparent motion of stars and planets in the Celestial Sphere.

Kepler’s Laws of Planetary Motion explain that when the planets revolve around the Sun, the closest move faster than those further away. Gravity accelerates when the planet is closer to the mass of the Sun. Sir Issac Newton’s Universal Theory of Gravity explains planetary motions and motions of other kinds of celestial objects like asteroids, and comets.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion explain the Perception of Time in our Solar System. Mercury takes 88 Days, Venus takes 224 Days, Earth takes one Year, Mars takes 686 Days, Jupiter takes 11 Years, Saturn takes 29 Years, Uranus takes 84 Years, and Neptune takes 165 Years to orbit the Sun if Time is measured by Units created by man.

Mercury takes 88 Days, Venus takes 224 Days, Earth takes one Year, Mars takes 686 Days, Jupiter takes 11 Years, Saturn takes 29 Years, Uranus takes 84 Years,  Neptune takes 165 Years, and Pluto takes 248 years to orbit the Sun if Time is measured by Units created by man. Planets orbit the Sun as per Newton’s Universal Theory of Gravity.

Since man’s Perception of Time is relative to the alternating periods of light and darkness caused by Earth’s rotational spin, the perception of time changes on different planets of our Solar System.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: The Speed of Rotational Spin and the Axis of the Rotational Spin or the Tilt of the Planet is imporatnt to determine the type of Perception of Time as Day and Night.
HAPPY NEW YEAR – THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: The Speed of Rotational Spin and the Axis of the Rotational Spin or the Tilt of the Planet is important to determine the type of Perception of Time as Day and Night. Mercury takes 59 days, Venus takes 243 days, Earth takes 24 hours, Mars takes 25 hours, Jupiter takes 10 hours, Saturn takes 10 hours, Uranus takes 16 hours, Neptune takes 18 hours, and Pluto takes 6.4 days to complete their rotation. It clearly demonstrates that the Rotational Spin is not governed by Newton’s Universal Theory of Gravity. Each planet exhibits individualistic variation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: Each planet in our Solar System exhibits its own kind of Rotational Spin that is not determined by the Universal Law of Gravity.
HAPPY NEW YEAR – THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: Each planet in our Solar System exhibits its own kind of Rotational Spin that is not determined by Newton’s Universal Theory of Gravity. Man exists as if he has a Biological Clock that accurately measures Time and man’s existence is synchronized with the alternating periods of Light and Darkness. The Biological Rhythm that operates human life is called Circadian, Diurnal, Day, or Solar Rhythm.

I describe the planets of our Solar System as Original, Distinctive, One of its Own Kind of Created Celestial Objects as the Perception of Time varies from planet to planet and this Perception of Time is not determined by the Universal Law of Gravity which determines the planetary motions explained by Kepler’s Laws. I have reasons to speculate that an unknown Force/Power/Energy has caused the differing kinds of Rotational Spins of the planets of our Solar System. It indeed gives me a sense of confidence to assert that there are no identical planets in this entire universe while it may contain billions of stars with their own planetary systems if the identity of a given planet is an attribute of its Rotational Spin.

THE PERCEPTION OF TIME – TEMPORALISM – TEMPORAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Happy New Year - The Perception of Time: Albert Einstein who formulated the Theory of General Relativity had visualized the four dimensional Space-Time Continuum. It has important applications in Theoretical Physics. For existence of Life on planet Earth, Time dtermines the Order of Succession, and Space determines the Order of Situation.

It has important applications in Theoretical Physics. For existence of Life on planet Earth, Time determines the Order of Succession, and Space determines the Order of Situation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: The Perception of Time is important to define Temporal Relationships of Succession and Simultaneity. Which came First? Is it the Chicken or the Egg? There is a chance for Chicken and Egg coming into existence Simultaneously if there is a Creator or Creative Principle that is Uncreated, Unborn, Eternal, and Uninfluenced by Perceptions of Time.
HAPPY NEW YEAR – THE PERCEPTION OF TIME: The Perception of Time is important to define Temporal Relationships, the relationship between Time and Life. Time is the duration between two events; Life is measured as Lifespan, the time interval between birth and death. It raises the issues of Prior, Posterior, and Simultaneous. Life poses the biological riddle; Which came First,  the Chicken or the Egg? There is a chance for Chicken and Egg coming into existence Simultaneously if there is a Creator or Creative Principle that is Uncreated, Unborn, Eternal, and Uninfluenced by Perceptions of Time. What is called Eternity is Prior to Time, Simultaneous with Time and is Posterior to Time. I prefer the simple term “WholeTime.”

The philosophical doctrine of Temporalism stresses the ultimate reality of Time. The term ‘temporal’ is concerned with life on Earth and it relates Time to Life. However, there is a fundamental distinction between these two measurable entities. Every thing that is born comes with its own plan for its dissolution and exists during a measured duration of Time. But, Time is essentially a self-subsisting Nonentity. Temporal relationships lead to notions such as prior, posterior, and simultaneous. In terms of Life it poses the biological riddle; Which came First,  the Chicken or the Egg? There is a problem with explaining Temporal Relationships, particularly to know the reality of human existence; the reality of prior existence before the fact of present birth and existence, and the reality of a future birth, resurrection, reincarnation, afterlife, or rebirth after the conclusion of present birth and existence. The concepts of Immortality, or Everlasting Life demand that Eternity is Prior to Time, Simultaneous to Time, and Posterior to Time. There is a chance for Chicken and Egg coming into existence Simultaneously if there is a Creator or Creative Principle that is Uncreated, Unborn, Eternal, and is Prior to Time. Things in Nature Change with Time. The Power of Dissolution exerted by Time would compel man to investigate and to explore the concept of Absolute, Unchanging, Immutable, Eternal Reality that exists the “WholeTime” without any concern about man’s Perception of Time.

WHOLE SPIRITUALITY – FLOW OF TIME, LIFE AND BEHAVIOR

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – CYCLICAL FLOW OF TIME – HUMAN NATURE – HUMAN BEHAVIOR:

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - CYCLICAL FLOW OF TIME - HUMAN NATURE AND HUMAN BEHAVIOR: IN INDIAN TRADITION THE CYCLICAL FLOW OF TIME IS DESCRIBED AS FOUR PERIODS NAMED 1. SATYA YUGA, 2. TRETA YUGA, 3. DWAPARA YUGA, AND 4. KALI YUGA. MAN MAY DISPLAY DIFFERENT BEHAVIORS DURING EACH PERIOD OF TIME.

INDIA'S SPIRITUAL LEADER AND MASTER GURU NANAK(c.1469 - c.1539) RESISTED THE POLLUTING EFFECTS OF KALI YUGA AND PREACHED ABOUT FUNDAMENTAL IDENTITY OF ALL RELIGIONS.

INDIA’S SPIRITUAL LEADER AND MASTER GURU NANAK(c.1469 – c.1539) RESISTED THE POLLUTING EFFECTS OF KALI YUGA AND PREACHED ABOUT FUNDAMENTAL IDENTITY OF ALL RELIGIONS.

In Indian tradition, time flows in a cyclical manner and time is divided into four periods called “YUG” and the Four YUGAS are named as 1. Satya Yuga or Krita Yuga, 2. Treta Yuga, 3. Dwapara Yuga, and 4. Kali Yuga. The present times of man belong to the period Kali Yuga and hence is of a great interest. Saint Ved Vyasa, the author of Hindu epic poems of Mahabharata and Bhgavata Purana made some predictions about human behavior under the influence of the time period of Kali Yuga. The word ‘Kali’ refers to contamination, or pollution and an important consequence of the polluting effect of Kali Yuga is thought to be “STRESS.” Man’s behavior is influenced by the stressful environmental stimuli and these stimuli are aroused by man’s perception of time. Since man cannot avoid interacting with the environment in which he exists, man is instructed to take the help of chanting the Divine Name of KRISHNA and RAMA as a ‘MANTRA’ to overcome the polluting effects of Kali Yuga.

KALI KALMASHA NASANA MAHA MANTRAM – HARE KRISHNA MAHA MANTRAM:

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - THE CYCLICAL FLOW OF TIME - HUMAN NATURE AND HUMAN BEHAVIOR:HARE KRISHNA MAHA MANTRA IS DESCRIBED AS THE CURE FOR THE POLLUTING EFFECTS OF THE TIME PERIOD CALLED KALI YUGA.

“Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna, Krishna Hare Hare,

Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama, Rama Hare Hare.”

“Iti shodashakam naamnaam, Kalikalmasha naasanam;
NaataH parataropaayaH Sarva Vedeshu drusyate.”

Lord Rama’s name may not appear in the Vedas but it appears in Kali Santarana Upanishad, Krishna Yajur Veda, 103 Upanishad. “These sixteen words are destructive of the evil effects of Kali. No better means than this is to be seen in all the Vedas.” During 16th century A.D. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu spread this Mantra among people with a great zeal. Basically, mantras are about the efficacy of Sound Energy. Shri. Ashok Coomar has kindly shared the 15 amazing predictions for the Kali Yuga made by Saint-Poet Ved Vyas in the Bhagavata Purana. While this prophesy pertains to human behavior, human nature remains essentially unchanged as human nature is operated by an unchanging, eternal, and immortal, vital principle called Soul or Spirit. While man’s identity constantly undergoes changes under the influence of time, the unchanging principle called Soul or Spirit maintains man’s individuality. Man is constituted as a Spiritual Being with a Divine attribute called Spiritual Nature that describes the true or real man. Whereas human behavior is variable and the variability is generated by the external environmental stimuli. I am asking my readers to give their attention to the distinction between Human Nature and Human behavior.

The following 15 predictions, written 5,000 years ago by Sage VedavyAsA,
are amazing because they appear so accurate.

Despite the negative tone of these prophecies, there is still one bright spot for all of us, which is mentioned at the end.15 Most Amazing Predictions for Kali Yuga from the Bhagavata Purana

WHOLE MECHANICS – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE DEVOTION

CELESTIAL MECHANICS – A DEVOTIONAL INQUIRY:

Celestial mechanics is the study of the motions of astronomical bodies as they move under the influence of their mutual gravitation. This article will explore the event named ‘AUTUMNAL EQUINOX’ that will occur in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10.29 P.M.

CELESTIAL MECHANICS - A DEVOTIONAL INQUIRY: AUTUMN IS THE SEASON THAT COMES BETWEEN SUMMER AND WINTER. BY OBSERVING CELESTIAL MOTIONS MAN CAN PREPARE CALENDARS FOR HIS TIMEKEEPING AND TO PREDICT THE ONSET OF SEASONS WITH PRECISION. I ADD THE PRINCIPLE CALLED DEVOTION TO INTERPRET CELESTIAL DYNAMICS.

BY OBSERVING CELESTIAL MOTIONS MAN CAN PREPARE CALENDARS FOR HIS TIMEKEEPING AND TO PREDICT THE ONSET OF SEASONS WITH PRECISION. I ADD THE PRINCIPLE CALLED DEVOTION TO INTERPRET CELESTIAL DYNAMICS.

The calculation of celestial motions is complicated because many separate forces are acting at once and all bodies are moving simultaneously. Issac Newton’s Laws of Motion and Theory of Universal Gravitation provided a physical, dynamic basis for the merely descriptive Laws of Kepler that explain the elliptical orbits of planets.

CELESTIAL MECHANICS - A DEVOTIONAL INQUIRY: EQUINOX IS THE TIME WHEN THE SUN CROSSES THE CELESTIAL EQUATOR MAKING NIGHT AND DAY OF EQUAL LENGTH IN ALL PARTS OF THE EARTH. TO INTERPRET THIS CELESTIAL MOTION, I USE THE PRINCIPLE CALLED DEVOTION TO GUIDE MY SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY OF MY WORLD EXPERIENCE.

The term ‘Equinox’ is used to describe the time when the Sun crosses the celestial equator making day and night of equal length in all parts of the Earth. Equinoctial point is either of the two points on the celestial sphere where the Sun’s path crosses the celestial equator. In the Northern Hemisphere, the autumnal equinox occurs around September 22-23 when the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator from north to south.

CELESTIAL MECHANICS - A DEVOTIONAL INQUIRY: CELESTIAL SPHERE IS AN IMAGINARY SPHERE THAT HAS THE OBSERVER AT ITS CENTER. THE CELESTIAL EQUATOR IS THE PROJECTION OF THE EARTH'S EQUATOR ONTO THE CELESTIAL SPHERE. ECLIPTIC IS THE APPARENT PATH TAKEN BY SUN IN THE CELESTIAL SPHERE. I USE THE FACTOR CALLED DEVOTION TO UNDERSTAND THE EXPERIENCE CAUSED BY CELESTIAL DYNAMICS.

Astronomical Coordinate Systems are used to indicate the positions of celestial bodies on the celestial sphere. Celestial sphere is an imaginary sphere that has the observer at its center and all other celestial bodies imagined as on its inside surface. The celestial equator is the projection of the Earth’s equator on the celestial sphere. It is simply an imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator from west to east. The Ecliptic describes the apparent path taken by the Sun in the celestial sphere.

CELESTIAL MECHANICS - A DEVOTIONAL INQUIRY: ASTRONOMY IS THE SCIENCE THAT STUDIES THE MOTIONS AND NATURE OF CELESTIAL BODIES. MODERN ASTRONOMY MADE A GREAT PROGRESS IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE UNIVERSE. BUT, FOR TIMEKEEPING MAN STILL DEPENDS UPON THE OBSERVED APPARENT MOTIONS OF THE SUN ACROSS THE SKY. A DEVOTIONAL INQUIRY WILL BRING CONSISTENCY BETWEEN REAL AND APPARENT MOTIONS.

Astronomy is the branch of Science that studies the motions and nature of celestial bodies such as planets, stars, and galaxies. It is perhaps the oldest of the pure sciences. Astronomical observations provided a basis for the Calendar by determining the Units of Month and Year. It helps as a tool in timekeeping. Modern Astronomy has indeed made a great progress in the understanding of the Universe in which man finds his existence.

I am inviting my readers to use the valid, scientific principle of Inquiry called ‘Devotion’ to account for celestial dynamics. Celestial Mechanics need the principle of ‘Devotion’ to account for purposive, guided, and goal-oriented actions. For the subjective, and the objective experience of life, man needs the guidance from the apparent motions of astronomical bodies such as the Sun and the Moon across the sky. A devotional inquiry would lead man to interpret Celestial Mechanics in terms of his own individualistic experience of his life-span.

Whole Dude – Whole Revolution

Spirituality Science – A Copernican Revolution:

Makar Sankranti is a festival celebrated in India in recognition of Sun's celestial journey which traverses the zodiacal sign called Capricorn during the month of January.
Whole Dude – Whole Revolution: Spirituality Science. A Copernican Revolution.

I am happy to extend my greetings to all of my readers on this festive occasion called ‘Sankranti’. In the Indian tradition, Sun is represented as personification of the Divine Energy that sustains the life of all that lives on planet Earth. Apart from being the source of primary Energy, Sun is viewed as the Source of Knowledge and Indians seek Lord Surya, the Sun God’s blessings to illuminate their inner, mental world to banish darkness called ignorance.

This would lead me to reflect about the theory of knowledge and the revolutionary change caused by Immanuel Kant in understanding our philosophic problems and procedures. In the context of our celebration of the Indian festival Sankranti, I pay a special tribute to Nicholas Copernicus (1457-1543) who laid the foundation for modern astronomy with his heliocentric theory of planetary motion which replaced the geocentric cosmological theory established by Ptolemy (Claudius Ptolemaeus) of 2nd century A.D. Ptolemy’s theory placed Earth motionless at the center of the universe with all celestial bodies revolving around it. Copernican system places the Sun motionless at the center of the solar system with all the planets, including Earth, revolving around it.

The Theory of Knowledge – A Copernican Revolution:

Nicholas Copernicus, Polish astronomer caused a revolutionary change in Astronomy for he had reversed the way scientists think about the relationship of the Earth and the Sun.
Whole Dude – Whole Revolution: Nicolaus Copernicus, Polish astronomer caused a revolutionary change in Astronomy for he reversed the way scientists think about the relationship of the Earth and the Sun.

Copernicus caused a revolution when he discerned reflections of the Earth’s own motion in the apparent motions of the planets, and stars. To the same extent, German philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) inaugurated a new era in the development of philosophical thought. He did comprehensive, and systematic work in Theory of Knowledge, Ethics, and Aesthetics.

Immanuel Kant had reversed the way philosophers think about the relationship of the world of experience and the mind. As per Kant, the mind is not shaped by the world of experience; rather, the world of experience is shaped by the patterns set by the mind.
Whole Dude – Whole Revolution: Immanuel Kant reversed the way philosophers think about the relationship of the world of experience and the mind. As per Kant, the mind is not shaped by the world of experience; rather, the world of experience is shaped by the patterns set by the mind.

Kant altered the nature of philosophic inquiry. He recognized the limits of the philosophical traditions of both Empiricism that stresses Experience, and Rationalism that stresses Reason. He analyzed the tradition of Rene Descartes (Rationalism) and clarified the tradition of Francis Bacon (Empiricism). Kant attempted to incorporate both Experience and Reason, without falling into the Skepticism of the empirical school and without embracing the unverifiable metaphysical structure of the rationalist school. He criticized Leibniz rationalism in his book, “Critique of Pure Reason” (1781).

In Kant’s view, objective reality is known only insofar as it conforms to the essential structure of the knowing mind. Only objects of experience or phenomena may be known. Things lying beyond experience or noumena are unknowable.

Kant stated that the human mind provides the forms and the categories that can be used to describe experience. He held the view that the problems like the existence of God, freedom, and immortality are insoluble by scientific thought.

Kant proudly asserted that he had accomplished a Copernican Revolution in philosophy. He claimed that the subject doing the knowing constitutes, to a considerable extent, the object of knowing; i.e., that knowledge is in part constituted by the mind itself which imposes its influence upon the data of experience. Hence, knowledge is the product of the knowing subject and not a simple description of an external reality. Kant accounted for the application of the mind’s principles to objects by showing that the objects conform to the mind; in knowing, it is not mind that confirms to things but things confirm to the mind.

I examine this issue for its relevance to the fundamental concern about human existence.

Spirituality Science – A Copernican Revolution:

SUN - SPIRITUALISM - COPERNICAN REVOLUTION: In a moving world and universe called "JAGAT", the entity called Soul and Spirit, or "BHAVANA" provides the unchanging operating system to make the human existence a reality.

Sun's Celestial Journey - Spiritualism - Copernican Revolution : Spiritualism is the potency that brings man's essence and existence to come together to provide man the subjective and objective reality of his own existence in the physical, or material world.
Whole Dude – Whole Revolution: Spirituality Science – Copernican Revolution: Spiritualism is the potency that brings man’s essence and existence to come together to provide man the subjective and objective reality of his own existence in the physical, or material world.

Man’s earthly existence is conditioned by constant change under the influence of Space and Time. To make Life happen, the existence has to be synchronized with the external events on which man has no control. While Earth is spinning at an amazing speed, man perceives Earth as a motionless object, and experiences the apparent motions of planets and stars. The speed of Earth’s motion is not compatible with human existence. The reality of Sun shining brightly in the sky all the time is not also helpful for human existence. Man needs alternating periods of light and darkness called Day, and Night. Human existence demands alternating periods of wakefulness and sleep.

To experience the physical reality called existence, man needs the influence of a powerful illusion that changes the perception of reality of this world, and universe that is constantly changing, and moving. Man exists for he cannot alter the nature of this sensory experience that generates the Celestial Journey of Sun across the heavenly dome. In Indian tradition,  it is stated that the Creative Energy called “Maya” clouds man’s sense of perception of the world experience and man has no ability to overcome the Power/Force/Energy that causes the Grand Illusion.

The phenomena called ‘illusion’ is not generated by the mind. This world experience caused by ‘illusion’ has a survival value as it intends to protect man from the harsher reality of Truth. To a discerning mind it appears that man needs the guiding and regulative mechanism called Soul and Spirit to perform his living functions in a moving, and changing world. Soul establishes man’s dependence upon an external source of energy and hence Soul is always associated with the living body. The unity of man’s body and Soul could be named as the ‘God-Connection’ as this ‘Connection’ is not formulated by man’s mental, or physical work. This ‘God-Connection’ helps the Spirit to express its desire for Freedom which includes a desire to seek Freedom from the world experience called ‘Death’.

If Soul and Spirit are present in the living body that exists in the earthly, material realm, it points towards the operation of the Divine Providence in this terrestrial realm.

If God by the nature of His existence is present in the immanent realm, the problems of metaphysics such as Freedom, Immortality, and God’s existence do not belong to unknowable, transcendental realm.

I suggest that Kant is wrong in his view about the relationship between human mind, and the world of experience. Man is fortunate for things of world experience do not always confirm to the knowing mind. Man is blissfully unaware of the true or real motions of Sun and the planets of the Solar System.

Whole Dude – Whole Revolution: Man is fortunate for things of world experience do not always confirm to the knowing mind. Man is blissfully unaware of the real motions of Sun and the planets of the Solar System.

Pope Benedict XVI delivering the Vatican’s traditional Christmas Day “Urbi et Orbi”(to the City and to the World) Message from the central balcony of Saint Peter’s Basilica on Tuesday, December 25, 2012.

Pope Benedict XVI in his traditional Christmas Day Message has wished for Peace, Freedom, and Justice to the people of all nations across the World.

WHAT IS FREEDOM????

Spiritualism-The Spirit of Freedom: What is Freedom???? The Statue of Liberty symbolizes human aspiration for Freedom and Liberty.
Spiritualism-The Spirit of Freedom: What is Freedom???? The Statue of Liberty symbolizes human aspiration for Freedom and Liberty.

John Milton(1644) demanded, “Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties.” British Bill of Rights(1689), French Declaration of the Rights of Man(1789), and The U.S. Bill of Rights(1791) describe Civil Liberties and Individual Freedoms. John Stuart Mill(1806-73), English Philosopher, and Economist had observed, “Over himself, over his own body and mind, the individual is sovereign.” Being sovereign, means that the person, or entity acknowledge no superior. To be a sovereign shows the ability not to accept commands from anyone. In Political Science, when States are called Free and Independent, their autonomy or sovereignty means that they have full power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and do all other acts and things which independent states have the right to do. The terms Freedom and Liberty are often used to describe the opposite of servitude, slavery, or bondage. It describes the act of  releasing or setting free of a slave or prisoner from physical servitude or imprisonment. Freedom means the state or quality of being free from the control of some other person or some arbitrary power and it gives the person the ability to act, move, and live without hindrance or restraint. Similarly, Liberty describes Freedom from arbitrary control, confinement, and compulsion imposed by rules, regulations, laws, and traditional practices. However, Freedom does not constitute License which implies the ability to violate the usual rules, laws, or practices either by consent or as an abuse of Liberty. The purpose of Freedom is not that of imposing Anarchy which is the complete absence of government. Anarchy may lead to political disorder, lawlessness, and may contribute to disorder in various spheres of human activities, and human interactions. Freedom, and Liberty cannot be disassociated from Peace, and Justice, and equal protection of Rights of all the members of any social community or national entities. Liberty cannot be allowed to grow without limit at the expense of Justice and Order. The concept of Freedom, Liberty, and Freewill expressed in human thought and literature has very limited application in Natural Sciences. The establishment of Life on planet Earth speaks of the operation of the Laws of Nature. Life has emerged from discord, disorder, and chaos; it reflects the nature of sequential, guided, and purposeful interactions of atoms, and molecules to seek peace, harmony, and tranquility to get over the consequences of random, unguided, and spontaneous interactions which have no purpose.

THE SPIRITUAL BASIS OF HUMAN EXISTENCE:

Spiritualism-The Spirit of Freedom: Jesus Christ offers the hope of Freedom from Death. What is Believer's Freedom????
Spiritualism-The Spirit of Freedom: Jesus Christ offers the hope of Freedom from Death. What is Believer’s Freedom????

It must be clearly recognized that Freedom or Liberty is a product of man’s mental imagination and it has no physical correspondence with an external reality. From the viewpoint of a scientific observer,  the human subject exists without Freedom, or Independence as the subject cannot be detached from its external source of support. Freedom or Liberty is a subjective, personal experience and it cannot be tested or verified using the protocol of objective Science. In other words, man’s subjective, mental experience called Freedom, or Liberty exists if, and only if  his existence is sustained by the rules, laws, and conditions imposed upon the reality called Life. Man’s status in Nature is characterized by the absence of “Independence” as it is conditioned by dependence. Man does not have “Sovereign” powers to rule or govern his own human body which comprises of independent, and functionally autonomous, individual, living cells. The Living System requires constant supply of energy from an external source and the ability to acquire this energy is independent of man’s control over his own body. Man may appear to have the freedom to choose death, and the same is not true about keeping his own existence. To live, and to perform living functions, man needs support, and man has no choice other than that of dependence. Man has the desire to exist as an independent Individual with Individuality while being attached, and while surviving on support from an external source. In Life, or Death, man needs Mercy, Grace, and Compassion of a Supreme Being who may control the source of external energy and constitute the principle called Divine Providence.

What is Soul? What is Spirit?:

Spiritualism-The Spirit of Freedom: Soul and Spirit describe two-sides of the same coin.
Spiritualism-The Spirit of Freedom: Soul and Spirit describe two-sides of the same coin.

Soul/Spirit is stated as the vital, animating, life principle found in all living entities. Spirit is often used to describe the moral nature of man, a specified mental, or emotional attitude that characterizes words, actions, opinions, and etc., Spirit is used to refer to the intelligent or immaterial part of man as distinguished from the human body, and mind. The term Spirit considers the possibility of the existence of  an immaterial reality that is imperceptible to the organs of sense perception. The life principle displays both material and immaterial aspects. Hence, I would like to suggest that Spirit and Soul represent the two-sides of the same coin. Spirit and Soul influence human nature in two different ways. Under the influence of Spirit, man seeks his Freedom, or Independence. Spirit gives the ability to man to generate new, original, and creative thoughts that form the contents of his imagination. Man applies imagination and uses inspiration from within or without to create new, and original products. Whereas Soul is the guiding mechanism that establishes the dependent, or conditioned nature of man’s existence. The recognition of the nature of dependent existence generates an emotion or feeling called ‘Devotion’ and man learns to act in obedience of an unknown Supreme Being. The presence of ‘Devotion’ is detected in human behavior and actions that display a sense of humility and modesty. Freedom, and Dependence are the two basic elements of human nature that are perpetually in tension with one another. While the Spirit is dominant, man seeks total Freedom and expresses this Freedom to constantly manipulate the dependent nature of his conditioned existence which may include a desire to seek Freedom from Death through his works, and actions. With the help of his Soul, man totally surrenders his sense of self-pride, ego, or arrogance. His deliverance, or salvation, or liberation is entirely dependent upon the Mercy, Grace, and Compassion of his LORD God Creator.

JESUS CHRIST – THE “SPIRIT” OF FREEDOM:

Spiritualism-The Spirit of Freedom: Life through the Spirit. The Book of ROMANS, Chapter 8, verses 1-17; "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the Law of the Spirit of Life set me Free from the Law of Sin and Death."
Spiritualism-The Spirit of Freedom: Life through the Spirit. The Book of ROMANS, Chapter 8, verses 1 & 2; “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the Law of the Spirit of Life set me Free from the Law of Sin and Death.”

Apostle Paul’s Letter to the Galatians has been called the “Magna Charta” of Christian Liberty. However, it must be noted that the essence of Christian Freedom is stated as deliverance from bondage of sin and its consequent moral corruption of human nature. Apostle Paul declares, “It is for Freedom that Christ has set us Free.”( Galatians, Chapter 5, verse 1) The Freedom advocated by Apostle Paul refers to freedom from the ceremonial laws of Jewish Old Testament customs and traditions. He demands Galatians to live as released prisoners or freed slaves and at the same time it was not an invitation to lead immoral lives. He specifically instructs that the Freedom described relates to freedom from sinful nature; “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of sinful nature.”( Galatians, Chapter 5, verse 16 ) In the Gospel according to Apostle John, Chapter 6, verse 63, Jesus describes the distinction between the Spirit and human body; “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are Spirit and they are life.” This Spiritual Liberty involves man becoming the slave of God; “But now that you have been set Free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.”( The Book of ROMANS, Chapter 6, verse 22) Spiritual Liberty never condones the abuse of Liberty and there is no exemption from the exercise of individual judgment. The Book of JAMES, Chapter 2, verse 12 stipulates the Law of Liberty; “Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the Law that gives freedom.” The use of Liberty and Freedom is limited by consideration of obedience of Law and acting in accordance with moral precepts as man exists in the world as a created being and not as a Sovereign or Independent entity.

I wish all of my readers a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.

In U.S. history, the second-deadliest school shooting took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown, Connecticut during the beautiful morning hours on Friday, December 14, 2012. The killing of 20 school children and other adults will force us to reflect upon human nature.

This act of violence at Sandy Hook compels us to examine the Spiritual Basis for human existence.
This act of violence at Sandy Hook compels us to examine the Spiritual Basis for human existence.

AGGRESSION AND HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS:

Among animals, man has the ability to kill members of his own kind for reasons other than that of food, territory, and reproductive success. However, I do not consider that aggression is innate to human nature. The thought to commit an act of violence may enter the human mind because of an external, environmental stimulus. For an infectious agent to enter human body and cause a diseased condition would require a degree of susceptibility to that infection. A person who is not in proper relationship with his own self, and with others is susceptible to be taken over by harmful emotions such as anger that generates the desire to commit an act of violence. The gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School could be described as a victim of his inability to formulate harmonious relationship both at personal level and interpersonal level. Mental Health involves the ability to develop harmonious social relations. In my view, the basis for external, harmonious, social relationships begins at a personal level; the ability to define one’s relationship with oneself.

THE SPIRITUAL BASIS FOR HUMAN EXISTENCE:

This act of violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School illustrates man’s estrangement or alienation from his true or real nature. I would like to reinforce the fact of the spiritual basis for human existence. In life, or death, man needs the mercy, grace, and compassion of his Creator. Man does not exist in this physical world because of his intellectual, or physical effort. It is a good time to explain the dependent nature of human existence and invite peace, harmony, and tranquility in the living condition by accepting the Divine Providence with a sense of respect and humility. The act of acceptance  of Divine mercy, grace, and compassion generates the emotion called ‘devotion’ which provides a sense of comfort and makes the person stress-resistant, and imparts the ability to overcome the feelings of fear, and the sense of grief generated by the loss of life.

GRIEF AND COMPASSION AT SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:

SPIRITUALISM AND VIOLENCE: GRIEF AND COMPASSION AT SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
SPIRITUALISM AND VIOLENCE: GRIEF AND COMPASSION AT SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

It is human nature to respond to grief with feelings of compassion. I describe, that human nature is constituted by the principles  called ‘spirit’, and ‘soul’. In ‘spirit’, man seeks freedom, and with ‘soul’, he establishes the dependence that supports the human existence. The violence, and aggression that we have witnessed is a response to an external environmental stimulus. Man betrays his own true nature or fails to recognize his real self; and this sense of estrangement or alienation from reality leads to behavior that destroys peace, harmony, and tranquility in man’s interactions with others in his environment. This gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School had utterly failed to defend his own freedom as he got alienated from his own ‘spirit’ and had failed to recognize his own ‘soul’ that sustains his existence. This loss of freedom had caused him to end his own existence using the same gun with which he had attacked others.
