Whole Body-Whole Linguistics
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE:
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE: LINGUISTICS IS DESCRIBED AS THE SCIENCE OF HUMAN LANGUAGE. I AM USING THE PHRASE WHOLE LINGUISTICS TO DESCRIBE THREE ENTITIES; 1. LANGUAGE USER, 2. LANGUAGE INTERPRETER, AND 3. LANGUAGE CREATOR.
Language is how human beings, as members of a social group and participants in its culture, communicate. Language is the peculiar possession of human beings. Human Speech (spoken and written) is the criteria by which we can easily recognize the difference that exists between man and other species. In this article, I inform my readers about the requirement to develop concepts that I name as “Whole Linguistics” and “Whole Language” to understand nature of Human Life and Human Existence.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE: I CALL THESE 365 EVERYDAY VALUE MISMATCHED SANDWICH CREMES AS “WHOLE COOKIES.” TO ACCOUNT FOR HUMAN LIFE AND HUMAN EXISTENCE, I NEED TO USE “WHOLE LINGUISTICS”, AND “WHOLE LANGUAGE.” THE WHOLE COOKIE SYMBOLIZES THE CONCEPT OF “WHOLE LOVE.”
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE: LANGUAGE IS DEFINED AS A SYSTEM OF VOCAL SOUNDS AND COMBINATION OF SUCH SOUNDS TO WHICH MEANING IS ATTRIBUTED, USED FOR THE EXPRESSION OR COMMUNICATION OF THOUGHTS AND FOR SHARING INFORMATION. TO EXPLAIN AND ACCOUNT FOR HUMAN LIFE AND HUMAN EXISTENCE THERE IS NEED FOR “WHOLE LINGUISTICS”, AND “WHOLE LANGUAGE.”
I want to define “Whole Language” as the particular form or manner of selecting and combining words characteristic of a “Whole Man”, “Whole Person”, or “Whole Dude.” It is a style of expression in words to explain and account for Human Life and Human Existence which does not depend upon the ability to attach meanings to the words and languages man uses. The structure and properties of human language do not formulate the basis for man’s biological existence. Linguistics which is described as the Science of Language includes phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Linguistics is sometimes subdivided into Descriptive, Historical, Comparative, Theoretical, Applied, and Geographical Linguistics. Since Linguistics is concerned with Language it must include the study of vocalized human speech, human writing, human reading, and human sensory perception of sounds and their interpretation. In proposing to use the phrase “Whole Linguistics”, I am visualizing the existence of three entities, 1. Language User, 2. Language Interpreter, and 3. Language Creator. It introduces a concept about the Creative Beginning of man and his Language.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE: BERTRAND RUSSELL DEVELOPED THE SYSTEM OF LANGUAGE ANALYSIS CALLED “LOGICAL ATOMISM.” IN HIS OPINION, LANGUAGE CAN BE ANALYZED IN TERMS OF AGGREGATES OF FIXED, IRREDUCIBLE UNITS OR ELEMENTS. HOW ABOUT LIFE AND EXISTENCE????
Dr. Bertrand Russell developed the system of Language Analysis called “Logical Atomism.” In his opinion, Language can be analyzed in terms of fixed, irreducible units or elements or an “Atom” of Language. Russell thinks that there can be a perfect one-to-one correspondence existing between an “Atom of Language” (an “Atomic Proposition”) and an “Atomic Fact.” An Atomic Proposition is a term that asserts that a certain thing has a certain quality. An Atomic Fact is the simplest kind of fact and consists in possession of a certain quality by some specific individual thing. According to Russell, for Language to mirror reality it can be proposed that the world is composed of facts that are utterly simple and comprehensible. He used ‘Atomic Propositions’ as the building blocks from which logical connectives, the more complex “Molecular Propositions” are constructed. I encounter several problems if I try to apply Russell’s Theory of “Logical Atomism” to interpret nature of Human Life and Human Existence. What is that ‘Atomic Proposition’, or ‘Atomic Fact’ that can describe man as a specific, individual thing? How is the Identity of Human Individual is established in multicellular human organism? Who is that specific, individual thing for whose benefit all the trillions of individual, living cells exist? If man is known as a specific, individual thing, how do these trillions of individual cells recognize his Identity?
Russell demands that concepts must be clarified in both every day and scientific Language. In his view, all genuine knowledge about man and nature can be expressed in a single Language common to all the Sciences. Semantics is the branch of Linguistics concerned with the nature, the structure the development and changes of the meanings of speech forms or with contextual meaning. I want to use the phrase “Whole Semantics” to describe the relationship between Language User who uses words, phrases, concepts, feelings, (etc., associated with them) and the mind of Language Interpreter whom I identify as “Whole Person”, “Whole Man”, or “Whole Dude.” By combining words, by coining new phrases, I can describe an original term whose meaning, or explanation could be missing if the original term is used as such. For example, by using the phrase ‘Whole Person, ‘Whole Man’, or ‘Whole Dude’ I will be able to account for all the dimensions of Human Life, and Human Existence. The term ‘man’ when used alone could be interpreted by each reader in slightly differing manners based upon their individual mental makeups. By using the phrase such as ‘Whole Man’, I am alerting the reader to interpret its meaning considering the various possibilities, the various dimensions to life such as a physical dimension( age, sex, color, race, ethnicity, and country of origin), a mental dimension described by his thoughts and feelings, a social dimension described by the language he uses, his religion, his social position, education, occupation, and his culture, his moral dimension that includes his perceptions about right and wrong, his spiritual dimension that may account for his existence as a created being, one of its own kind, and distinctive that makes him an Individual with Individuality and his rational dimension that describes the reasoning process used to verify truth of any given statement.
WHOLE VOCABULARY – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE:
Language represents a very complex series of events. These events take place in many planes of experience; 1. Physical(the sound waves), 2. Chemical( the body Chemistry), 3. Physiological(the movements of nerve impulses and of the various muscles and structures involved in articulation or generation of sounds), 4. Psychological(the reaction to stimuli), 5. General Cultural (situation of the speaker in respect to the cultural system of his society), 6. Linguistic( the Language being spoken), and 7. Semantic( its meaning). Vocabulary is a list of words and often phrases, abbreviations, inflectional forms, etc., arranged in alphabetical order and defined as in a dictionary or glossary. I use the phrase “Whole Vocabulary” to explain that the human body does not use Human Language to perform its functions at the level of individual cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems that comprise the human body. Human organism interacts with its constituent cells, tissues, and organs all the time using chemical molecules to send signals without any need for any known human language.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE: THIS DIAGRAM OR MODEL OF SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION PATHWAY IN MECHANOTRANSDUCTION EXPLAINS MECHANOSENSITIVITY IN CELLS AND TISSUES. SOME OF THE ABBREVIATIONS ARE, EP2-PROSTAGLANDIN RECEPTOR 2, 7TR-SEVEN TRANSMEMBRANE HELIX RECEPTOR, G GTP-BINDING PROTEIN, cAMP-CYCLIC ADENOSINE MONOPHOSPHATE, PKA-PROTEIN KINASE A, PKC-PROTEIN KINASE C, CRE-cAMP RESPONSE ELEMENT. MAN HAS TO DEVISE NUMEROUS TERMS TO SPEAK ABOUT LIVING FUNCTIONS WHICH TAKE PLACE WITH NO CONCERN FOR USING VOCABULARY.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE: AMONG ALL LIFE FORMS, THERE ARE SIMILAR SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION PATHWAYS THAT ARE USED TO COMMUNICATE INSTRUCTIONS TO CELLS USING NERVE IMPULSES OR CHEMICAL MOLECULES CALLED HORMONES. THE ABILITY OF THE CELL TO UNDERSTAND THE MESSAGE AND RESPOND WITH A PROPER SEQUENCE OF ACTIONS WHICH OFTEN INVOLVES A ‘SECOND MESSENGER’ IS THE BASIS FOR LIFE AND EXISTENCE. GLUTAMATE SIGNALING THAT IS INVOLVED IN SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION PATHWAYS THAT STIMULATE A CELL TO DIVIDE OR PROLIFERATE CANNOT BE AFFECTED BY VERBAL COMMANDS.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE: COMMUNICATION WITHIN THE HUMAN ORGANISM INVOLVES THE SEQUENTIAL ACTIONS AND INTERACTIONS THAT INVOLVE A VARIETY OF CHEMICAL MOLECULES. MAN HAS NO ABILITY TO SPEAK TO THE CELL USING HUMAN LANGUAGE AND INSTRUCT IT TO PERFORM TASKS LIKE CELL DIVISION.
To understand the Language that human body uses to perform its myriad living functions, we need to learn about chemical molecules that act as major communicators. The Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate(cAMP) is a major communicator molecule in cells. cAMP controls many important functions in the cell including the ability of the cell to generate electrical impulses. It is often called “Second Messenger” and it activates Inactive Protein Kinase, and the Active Protein Kinase then triggers responses of target cells or structures by activating enzymes, stimulating cellular secretion, opening ion channels, and etc., Cyclic Monophosphate mononucleotide of Adenosine or cAMP is formed from Adenosine Triphosphate or ATP by the catalytic action of the enzyme Adenylyl Cyclase. cAMP is responsible for the intracellular mediation of hormonal effects on various cellular processes such as lipid metabolism, membrane transport and cell proliferation.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE LINGUISTICS – WHOLE LANGUAGE: IN THE ENTIRE HUMAN VOCABULARY THERE IS NO WORD OR PHRASE THAT MAN CAN USE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE CELLS OF HIS OWN BODY.
I am stating that I cannot issue verbal commands to my human body and direct it to perform according to my choice or desires. In the entire human Vocabulary there is no word or phrase that man can use to communicate with the cells, tissues, and organs of his own body. Language can be used to describe living functions such as ‘Metabolism’ but Life and Existence is not about the ability to attach meanings to words or the ability called Language Arts. Russell held the view that it is possible to infer something about the world from the Language in which it is correctly described. He further directed that Language must be used to state its minimum requirements and avoid the use of descriptive phrases which may postulate the existence of objects. Russell finds it very easy and convenient to formulate his opinion and conclude that a ‘Proposition’ is a picture of the facts that it asserts and must have in a sense the same structure. He stressed importance of similarity of structure as a criterion in inferring causal relationships. He endorsed application of rationality to all aspects of thought and Language. Humans have the distinctive ability to use Language and yet there is no similarity of structure in the Language used for human communication and the structure of chemical molecules involved in communications between cells, tissues, and organs of his own body. To account for Human Life and Human Existence, I need to overcome the linguistic barriers placed by Russell.
To establish the existence of man as a ‘speaking animal’, I use the concept of ‘Whole Devotion’; a valid method of inquiry guided and controlled by ‘Love’ which acts as the Fundamental Force operating Human Life and Human Existence. ‘Whole Love’ as a phrase accounts for Subjective and Objective Reality called Existence that man experiences in his daily living condition. In times of crisis, when man faces challenges to his life and existence, man may not be able to make use of his knowledge and wisdom to effectively communicate with his body to alter or correct the problems of his structural and functional organization. However, human Language can be used for a system of communication called ‘PRAYER’. The hope that the communication called ‘Prayer’ will be received gives man the chance to survive tough times with a sense of peace and tranquility. The purpose of human language is to provide comfort and reassurance when language becomes ineffective in solving human problems.
#PALMSUNDAY – PALM SUNDAY – #WHOLEGOSPEL – WHOLE GOSPEL :
Welcome to the Celebration of #PalmSunday Palm Sunday on Sunday, March 29, 2015. I am inviting my readers to reflect upon the choice made by Jesus Christ when he rode into Jerusalem riding on the back of a donkey.
WHOLE DUDE – #WHOLEGOSPEL – WHOLE GOSPEL :
This is a real story revealed to me by a real person who prefers to wear Levi jeans and collects paychecks from Taxpayers. He had served as a Staff Sergeant in U.S. Army. He participated in Iraq War and his Unit was deployed at several locations in Iraq including the Capital City of Baghdad. I believe that he could be reincarnation of Saint Matthew, the author of the Gospel according to Matthew. However, this Matthew who wears Levi jeans is prone to anger and to distinguish him from Saint Matthew I would call him Angry Matthew. You will easily understand his proneness to anger, he angers very fast; once he tried to literally blow me away into bits when he attacked the car that I was driving with a deadly missile. I had luckily survived that attack; my car got hit and rolled over several times and was totally destroyed and yet I escaped unhurt. Angry Matthew amused himself taking photo images of this terrible car mishap using his mobile phone device. My friend, ‘Hoshea’ likes to describe Angry Matthew as an “Instigator”, a person who instigates great trouble. Angry Matthew frequently uses costumes of Dracula or other Ghoulish personalities to reveal his blood thirsty nature. Since he is reincarnation of Apostle Matthew, he also displays his love for his colleagues and often serves them with delicious meals. I am able to share the Gospel Story that Angry Matthew revealed to me while he was in a relaxed mood when I had inquired him if he had ever fired his personal weapon during his entire tour of duty in Iraq. Angry Matthew never got a chance to use his personal weapon and he is still very disappointed about this missed opportunity and a life of forced celibacy in Iraq. The Whole Gospel According to Angry Matthew reveals the prophecy of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming. It is very important to carefully understand the most important elements of the Gospel According to Saint Matthew and its relevance to the Gospel Story that is revealed by Angry Matthew. To introduce to you the ‘Whole Gospel’, the Gospel Story According to Angry Matthew, that describes vision of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming, there are two central events associated with the Coming of Jesus as the Savior need discussion.
THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO SAINT MATTHEW :
The Gospel of Matthew was written in Greek language; is the most highly valued, most popular, and widely read of the four Gospels. This is revealed not only by its position in the canon, it is found in first place in most of the known lists of the Gospels but also by the fact of its widespread citation and for it is by far the most often quoted Gospel. Matthew, the Apostle(The Book of Matthew, Chapter 10, verse 3) was eyewitness to the most significant events of Christ’s life and mission. Matthew(Greek. Maththaios) was initially known as Levi, a tax collector(telones) whom Jesus met at the tax office(Matthew, Chapter 9, verse 9). Levi changed his name to Matthew( Hebrew. “Gift of Yahweh”) and it may mean “Amittai” or “True”, when he became a disciple of Jesus. He carefully recorded all the teachings and sayings of Jesus and the Book of Matthew is the teaching Gospel par excellence. Matthew’s Gospel is also the Gospel of fulfillment and it is especially concerned with showing that Christ is fulfillment of the Revelations of The Old Testament. Matthew’s Gospel is the historical record of Jesus Christ, the King of Jews. It describes the birth of the King, the preparation of the King, the Law of the kingdom, the power of the King, proclamation of the kingdom, rejection of the King, the growth of the kingdom, the Mission of the King, the fellowship of the kingdom, the Triumphal entry of King into Jerusalem, consummation of the kingdom, the death and Resurrection of the King, and finally the great challenge of the kingdom. I would like to focus upon the most important event of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem as a King in a ceremonial procession.
CROSS AND DONKEY CROSS – THE SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATION OF REDEMPTION :
Cross(Greek. Stauros) : There are three biblical uses of the term: first, the wooden instrument of torture; second, the Cross as a symbolic representation of redemption; third, death on the Cross, i.e., Crucifixion. The English word ‘Cross’ is derived from the Latin ‘Crux’. The Cross existed in different forms, the most important form is known as ‘The Crux immissa’, the type of Cross usually presented in Art in which the upright beam extends above the cross beam, and traditionally this depiction of Cross is held to be the Cross on which the ‘Redeemer’ suffered and died. It is often called the ‘Latin form of Cross. Because of the sacrificial death of the Savior on the Cross, it is presented as the medium of Reconciliation(The Epistle of Apostle Paul to Ephesians, Chapter 2, verse 16) between man and God. In The Epistle of Apostle Paul to the Colossians, Chapter 1, verse 20, states that Peace is effected through the Cross and Chapter 2, verse 14 also claims that the penalties of the law are removed from the believer by the Cross. The Epistle of Apostle Paul to the Galatians, Chapter 2, verse 20 says that man is crucified with Christ and lives by faith of the Son of God. Crucifixion is a dreaded event, and in common usage, the cares and troubles of life are often compared to a Cross. Kindly examine the connection between Cross and the humble Donkey which man used as a beast of burden.
Donkeys are domesticated descendants from African ass( true ass ) known as Eqqus asinus which belongs to the Horse family of Equidae. Donkeys derived from Nubian and Somalian subspecies of African wild ass have served mankind since 4,000 B.C. It is tamed and trained for work. It is sturdy, surefooted, known for its endurance and for its ability to carry heavy loads. Donkeys were a fundamental part of economy, they undertook heavy work on the farm and sometimes used for personal transportation. In the southwestern United States, the small donkey is known as ‘Burro’, the word for donkey in Spanish language. Many Americans are very fond of eating ‘burrito’, a Mexican dish consisting of a flour tortilla wrapped around a filling of meat, cheese, refried beans, etc. However, most Americans are not familiar with the crosswise stripes on Donkey’s back that could be termed as ‘Donkey Cross’. Donkey is frequently mentioned in the Books of Bible; Prophet Abraham’s journey of testing, with his son Issac, was made with a donkey(The First Book of Moses, Genesis, Chapter 22, verses 3,5), Balaam’s donkey was given the temporary power of speech in order to rebuke the foolish prophet(The Fourth Book of Moses, Numbers, Chapter 22, verses 21-33), Israelites captured some 61,000 donkeys from the Midianites(The Fourth Book of Moses, Numbers, Chapter 31, verse 34). Mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a horse mare and it is sterile. King David introduced the use of mule for riding. In the Biblical times, mules were used by kings, officials, and army officers for personal transportation. Jesus Christ, the one coequal with God descended to the agony and torture of death due to Crucifixion by riding on the back of a donkey to fulfill the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9:
“Tell the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, your King is coming to you.
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.”
It is very interesting and important to note the difference in narration of this event. In the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 21, verse 2, Jesus instructs two of his disciples, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a (female) donkey tied, and a colt(young, male donkey) with her. Loose them and bring them to Me.” In the Gospel According to Mark, Chapter 11, verse 2, in the Gospel According to Luke, Chapter 19, verse 30, and in the Gospel According to John, Chapter 12, verse 14, no mention was made about the female donkey which was needed by Jesus and fetched by His disciples. Many Biblical scholars are not able explain this apparent discrepancy in the four Gospel accounts and they are not certain if one or two donkeys are involved and the gender identity of the donkey(s) that Jesus used for His victorious entry into Jerusalem. The four Gospel accounts are incomplete and have not revealed the Whole Story of the Donkey and the Donkey Cross. In the Gospel According to Angry Matthew, this discrepancy about the number and gender of donkeys is fully resolved and the donkey proudly displays its Donkey Cross to give a true sense of joy and bliss to Angry Matthew and changed his life completely.
THE WHOLE GOSPEL – THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ANGRY MATTHEW :
On a very dark Sunday night in the City of Baghdad, Angry Matthew was on duty at a checkpoint with members of his Infantry Company conducting vital security operations to defend the City from attacks by insurgents. It was calm and there were no suspicious movements. Suddenly, the very alert Angry Matthew noticed a pair of donkeys slowly marching towards his post under the cover of the darkness. Donkeys and Donkey carts in Baghdad have been used by insurgents to fire rockets and missiles. There was no cart and they had approached the checkpoint without making any kind of noise. Angry Matthew was intently observing this donkey pair using his night vision goggles and was surprised to see the shadow of a person riding on the back of the lead donkey. He wanted to immediately shoot at that shadowy figure and alerted his other buddies to get ready for action. The buddies calmly reacted and told Angry Matthew that they could not confirm presence of any person riding the back of the donkey. They decided to withhold fire and wanted to continue their observation. Angry Matthew’s mood suddenly changed and he lost his sense of suspicion and mistrust and all alone he decided to move closer to the donkeys to get an intimate look. He dropped his gun in the checkpoint and moved forward like a curious kid, and he was seeing a donkey at such a close distance for the first time in his entire life. He was amazed when he saw the vision or apparition of Jesus riding on the back of the donkey. He immediately fell to his knees, and started shouting, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, My King and My Savior.” He started jumping with joy and went dancing around the donkey pair, running in circles. He soon recognized the gender identity of the donkey pair; one is a female, and the second one is a colt, or young male. The donkeys understand human moods, human language and human actions. The female enjoyed the moments of devoted attention and the sense of pure happiness in the actions of Angry Matthew. The colt started getting aroused by the cheerful mood of its female companion. As Angry Matthew continued to dance around them, the colt swiftly mounted on the back of the female and started to penetrate it with deep, rhythmic pushes with its very long, strong, personal organ that looked like a short barrel gun. When the colt placed its forefeet on top of the female, and stood on its hind legs, Angry Matthew could immediately recognize the ‘Donkey Cross’ on its back. He immediately accepted the Cross as the medium of reconciliation, and as the Symbol of Peace, and felt totally relieved from all the burdens and penalties of his hard, military life in Baghdad. Angry Matthew did not want to miss the glorious view of the ‘Donkey Cross’. He encouraged the colt to stay up and to keep pushing and mating with the lively female. He spontaneously loved the act of Lovemaking. He burst into a song:
” Make Love, Love, Love, and make more Love,
I have no need for War, War, War and no more War.”
The donkey pair fully shared the excitement and enthusiasm and performed the longest ever recorded mating dance. As the dawn slowly arrived, the donkey pair moved out and vanished quickly without any trace. Angry Matthew simply collapsed to the ground. His buddies from the checkpoint quickly moved to give him help. They tried and could not get him to respond. Without wasting any more time, they got him evacuated to the Field Hospital where Angry Matthew recovered his consciousness after three days. By the time, he opened his eyes, Angry Matthew found that he cannot do the job of being a Sergeant in U.S. Army. He is fully reconciled, he has found Peace and accepted medical disability pension to find satisfaction in Life seeking the memory of the Donkey Cross and the mystical vision of his Savior who came to him riding on the back of a humble Donkey of Baghdad. He fully realized as to why Jesus had asked His disciples to fetch the female donkey and the colt. He got a glimpse of his previous life; his life as Apostle Matthew, the witness of Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. After the ride into Jerusalem, Jesus allowed the donkey pair to relax and enjoy the moment. Jesus as He prepared Himself for the ultimate sacrifice, wanted man to recognize that Lovemaking is not a sin and it is a natural God-given instinct. He gave permission to the young, virile, colt to fully display the Donkey Cross on its back while it enjoyed the feast of ravishing the female partner. The Cross is not inconsistent with expression of Sexual Love and does not condemn man to a life of total celibacy and total sexual abstinence. Now, Angry Matthew knows that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ would be on a dark Sunday night, and he is expecting that the mystery of the Second Coming would come into open, and full display of all mankind in the City of Baghdad.
Whole Dude wants to ask, do you recognize the Donkey Cross as the symbol of Redemption? Please share your experience of Donkey Cross and Donkey Lovemaking and join me in a Whole Conversation.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – AGING IS AN ETERNAL LAW:
Aging is God’s eternal law with respect to man and as such the principle of aging exists in the human nature and man has no choice other than that of submitting to the Natural Law of Aging to begin his mortal existence.
Lord Gautama Buddha(c. 563 to c. 483 B.C.,) known as “Siddhartha”(He who accomplishes) had correctly observed to claim that, “Whatever is born, produced, conditioned, contains within itself the nature of its own dissolution.” In biology, the term aging is used to describe the progressive structural, and functional changes in an organism that lead to senescence or a decline of biological functions and of organism’s ability to adapt to metabolic stress. It must be carefully understood that the process called aging begins right after the moment of conception and the newborn arrives because of the mechanisms that operate and control the aging process.
Age is a fundamental characteristic of most living organisms. The speed of the aging process varies and it is not the same in the entire organism. To establish human birth with a recognizable physical appearance, the cells of the embryo and fetus rapidly multiply and several of them have to simply die after a programmed sequence of cell divisions. Aging is that inevitable process that causes cell death after the lapse of a specified time interval which is programmed. At adulthood(age 20), age acceleration is around 40% and it is 100% in newborns.
AGING – BIOLOGICAL CLOCK – BIOLOGICAL RHYTHM:
Biorhythm or Biological Rhythm describes the cyclic pattern of changes in physiology often synchronized with daily environmental changes in response to daylight or dark. Circadian Rhythm is the 24-hour clock that drives wakefulness and sleep. Most living organisms use a timing mechanism that use clues or external environmental stimuli like that of light, and temperature that influence the internal Biological Clock. The concept of an operating Biological Clock is important in the understanding of the aging process.
HORVATH’S CLOCK – EPIGENETIC CLOCK – DNA METHYLATION AGE:
Dr. Steve Horvath, Professor of Human Genetics, UCLA, USA has discovered with a new technique of age measuring that uses aging marker called DNA Methylation. He described 353 epigenetic markers on the DNA which measure DNA methylation of cpG dinucleotides.
The human organism experiences the consequences of the aging process and the condition called senescence or old age is easy to recognize. There are several theories about the aging mechanism and as to how the aging process is operated and controlled by hereditary factors. Some deterioration of normal bodily functions is always a component of the biological aging process.
I define Spirit or Soul as the vital, animating, and unchanging, operating Principle that establishes human existence in a constantly changing world. Age is a measurement of the time interval between two events such as the birth and the death. The aging phenomenon is a variable expression which is influenced by both heredity and external environmental factors. At the same time, it could be important to identify the factors that operate within the internal environment of each, individual, independent, living cells. The immediate external environment of DNA, genes, chromosomes, and the nucleus is called the cytoplasm, or cytosol if the cell is viewed as a nucleus and cytoplasm bounded by a limiting membrane. I often write about the unchanging nature of this cytoplasm which may be recognized as its spiritual attribute. The cytoplasm has the Power described in Physiology as “NUTRITION”, the power or ability with which it attracts matter found in the cell’s external environment. In other words, the cytoplasm has the spiritual ability to establish a connection, association, bonding, relationship, or partnership between the energy-yielding molecules of the environment, and the energy-demanding molecules of the human individual and establish the fact or reality called the living being. The DNA, the genes, the chromosomes and the nucleus have no such ability for they simply lead a dependent existence deriving energy and matter supplied by the cytoplasm and its structures such as the mitochondria, and the ribosomes. The DNA is able to express a change and is able to generate a variation in the structures or a variation in the physiological functions such as the rate of protein synthesis because of the fact of its dependence upon an unchanging Principle that is not influenced by the time factor.
If age is viewed as a natural phenomenon characterized by changes in structure and function, the change is explained as the Power of Time over material things. This change is possible and can be recognized as the process is supported by an Unchanging, Spiritual, or Eternal Principle that is not affected by the time factor. For that reason, aging has to be explained as an Eternal Law which operates and regulates human existence from conception to death. Man has no choice other than that of leading a dependent existence, a Dependence that is Primarily provided by the Power/Force/Energy often named as the Divine Providence.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ORIGIN OF HUMAN SPECIES:
The appearance of the Human Species about 8,000 to 10,000 years ago cannot be explained as a natural event and it cannot be accounted for by The Law of Natural Generation. There are two important principles involved; 1. The Biogenetic Law which stipulates that living organisms are generated only by living organisms, and 2. The Law of Natural Generation that states that offspring will always be of the same Species as the parent Species. In my view, the Origin of Human Species as a new form of life cannot be explained by the operation of natural causes. At the same time, I would like to respectfully avoid the term “Supernatural”, and would rather prefer to use the term “creative” to explain the Origin of Human Species and account for the Special Form of Man.
THE NATURAL HISTORY OF MAN:
During the Period of the Great Ice Age or Pleistocene, continental glaciers covered much of N. North America, and NW Europe. The Holocene Epoch or Series which started approximately 10,000 years ago began to witness a change in Earth’s surface. The continental glaciers are now restricted to Antarctica and Greenland. It was not a cataclysmic change with consequences for the survival of life. The climatic change has actually helped the development and spread of modern human culture. It is indeed very surprising to note that this improvement in Earth’s surface and climate was accompanied by the extinction of giant mammals and the disappearance of a large variety of the Hominid Species.
To trace the Origin of the Human Species, we may take a look at the different Hominid Species and the time periods during which they existed.
Comparative Anatomy is used by the evolutionary biologists as evidence to prove the origin of a new form of life from a previously existing form of life. However, the Human Species has a special form and the use of Comparative Anatomy may actually demolish the Theory of Evolution.
None of these Hominid Species could be considered as the intermediate link or intermediate species from which the Human Species has arrived. The precise physical form of man has special features and it has to be explained if there is a connection between the Origin of the Human Species and of other Hominid Species. Comparative Anatomy makes the explanation of Man’s Evolution a very controversial subject.
THE ORIGIN OF THE SPECIAL FORM OF MAN:
In my view, there is no extinct or living Species that can bridge the gap between the Human Species and its nearest Hominid allies. About, 10,000 years ago, Earth’s surface had changed. The land area covered by Ice has steadily decreased; in Upper Pleistocene about 28 percent land area was covered by Ice and in Holocene, only about 10 percent land area is covered by ice. The warming of the climate has increased the area of habitation available to the various Hominid Species. Environmental conditions are entirely favorable to the survival of all the Hominid Species. If Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is a valid theory, we must witness the simultaneous co-existence of all intermediate varieties that may have progressed through incremental changes leading to the Origin of the Human Species. There was no geological catastrophe, it is relatively easy to adapt to the changed environment, food supply is adequate and particularly the Hominid Species were not preying upon one another in their struggle for existence. Actually, Darwin’s view on blending of hereditary factors is not supported by Gregor Mendel’s classic experiments in hybridization. According to Mendel, Inheritance is particulate and his theory is fully validated. Distinct genetic factors combine to produce a certain somatic result without causing the loss of separate identities carried by specific genes. The genetic factors can therefore be assorted and enter into new genetic combinations in the next generation. There is no evidence to suggest that the new Human Species has arrived because of some abrupt mutations in a single generation of any particular Hominid Species. It may be noted that Darwin’s Theory claims that new species originate through natural processes of Heredity and Selection. The Natural Laws of Heredity, and the natural process named Natural Selection are not sufficient for the production of the new Human Species that replaced all other Hominid Species that survived until Middle and Upper Pleistocene.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE HUMAN SPECIES:
Carolus Linnaeus also known as Carl Linnaeus, (b. May 23, 1707, d. January 10, 1778) Swedish botanist, a doctor of medicine, and explorer was the first to frame principles for defining genera and species of organisms and to create a uniform system for naming them.
Linnaeus published his Systema Naturae in 1735 and Genera Plantarum in 1737. He presented and explained his classification system that was based mainly on flower parts which tend to remain unchanged from generation to generation.
Linnaeus in his Systema Naturae gave a very precise description of man, placing him among the Class – Mammals, in the Order of Primates which includes the apes. Further, Linnaeus described the varieties of man such as The Asian, The African, and The European. He depended only on external characteristics to place objects into a rational set of categories. Thus Linnaeus formulated a Static Taxonomy in which Species of living things appear to be immutable in type throughout the ages. The Species, the fundamental unit of Classification, consists of populations of morphologically similar individuals that share the similar collection of characteristics whose combination is unique to the Species. In other words, Species is distinguished by its ability to maintain its stability from generation to generation. Since Species is self-perpetuating, they maintain the stability of all other groupings like the genera, phyla, and families which remain fixed from generation to generation. Apart from the observed stability of all recognized Species, the chemical molecules that are essential to compose the Living Matter, Material, or Substance called Protoplasm have always maintained their stability. For example, water molecule is the most important of all the biomolecules of Life and its chemical composition and properties are held stable over billions of years.
THE NATURAL LAW OF PROPAGATION:
The French naturalist Buffon in his monumental compendium on Natural History(44 Volumes), Histoire Naturelle General et Particuliere – 1749-1804), described man as a zoological species. Buffon determined species not by their physical appearances but by their reproductive history. Two individual animals or plants are of the same Species if they can produce fertile offspring. Species are known only through the history of its natural propagation. By the law of natural propagation, offspring will always be of the same species as the parent organism. A Species always breeds true. Its members always generate organisms which can be classified as belonging to the same Species, however much they vary among themselves as individuals within the group. The sub-groups, the races or varieties of Species are able to breed with one another, but diverse Species cannot interbreed. Organisms different in Species cannot reproduce productively and if crossbred, like the horse and the ass, they produce a sterile hybrid like the mule. The Natural Law of Propagation can be described as “The Law of Creation and Individuality.” Each kind of living thing always arrives as an original, distinctive, unique, and one of its own kind of object. No living thing has an independent choice of its own and there is no choice other than that of existing as a created object that can be identified as a specific individual thing with Individuality. Even with the use of the latest reproductive technology such as cloning, man cannot use the reproductive process to cause the existence of two identical living things. The term ‘Species’ must be used for purposes of ease and convenience as they are trillions of Individual living things with Individuality. In my view, the French naturalist Buffon had defined the term ‘Species’ correctly using the Natural Law of Propagation.
THE NATURAL HISTORY OF MAN:
When man is viewed as the subject of scientific investigation, the empirical knowledge of man is provided by observations of his structure(ANATOMY), functions(PHYSIOLOGY), his behavior(PSYCHOLOGY), his culture(ANTHROPOLOGY), and his past(ARCHAEOLOGY).
The study of the Natural History of Man was stimulated by the encounters with the great anthropoid Apes of Africa and Asia at the beginning of the 16th century. The discovery of the Chimpanzee and the Orangutan(meaning “Man of the Woods” in Malay language) raised questions about the status of Apes and their relation to Man. Dr. Edward Tyson, M.D., conducted studies(1699) sponsored by the Royal Society of London to analyze in great detail the similarities and the dissimilarities between a Chimpanzee and a man. For Tyson, the Chimpanzee was the missing link between animal and Man. But, Tyson and Darwin have no evidence to show that Chimpanzee or any other intermediate Species can actually transform its genome by gradual modification and appear in the physical world as a brand new Human Species.
Johann Friedrich Blumenbach is recognized as the Father of Physical Anthropology for his work De Generis Humani Varietate Nativa(1775-76). His research in the measurement of human skulls led him to divide mankind into five great families; Caucasian, Mongolian, Malayan, Ethiopian, and American. Human Species may include varieties that can be grouped into Races by using some common morphological traits.
At the same time the present Identification Technology such as the Fingerprints, Iris Scans, Facial Recognition Technology, Skin Surface Texture Recognition Technology allows the recognition of each member of the Human Species as a specific Individual with Individuality.
THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES – THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION:
Charles Darwin had no particular problem with the term ‘Species’ and in his view, Species is the term used to signify “a set of individuals closely resembling each other” – a class of plants or animals having certain characteristics. However, he wanted to seek a genealogical relationship among the various forms of life. His ideas demanded a dynamic or genealogical classification of living things. While holding that new Species originate in the course of time, Darwin formulated a view about the Origin of Species and their differentiation, and the factors or circumstances under which some life forms cease to have the status of species or become extinct. But, Darwin had not fully accounted for the reality called existence. There is no Natural Law or Principle that can fully account for the existence of Life on planet Earth.
Evolutionary Biology describes Man as a direct descendant of nonhuman Primates. From the interpretation of fossils have arisen concepts of mutation(the process by which the genetic material of a cell is altered), transformism(the theory that one Species is changed into another) and Evolution through mechanistic, unguided, purposeless and random events. At a fundamental level, The Great Chain of Living Beings has to be explained as a Continuity while the individual Species of Living Beings arrive as a sequence of discrete, creative steps. The precise physical form of Man as a special form or as a Human Species has to be explained by describing the role of natural factors and natural conditions of climate or environment that may determine the actual characteristics of a given Species. The morphological variations among the various members of the Homo Genus have to be related to the variations in diet, physical activity, and physical climatic conditions and the observed variations must explain the reproductive success or failure of the Species. In my view, the substance or material called the Living Matter has always existed with the same chemical composition resisting any influence of changing Time. The forms assumed by the Living Matter have always varied to demonstrate the operation of a creative mechanism that maintains the stability of each Species while generating variations among members of the same Species and between different Species. I would further seek to explain the arrival of the Human Species as a Creative Event as other member Species of the Genus Homo disappeared simultaneously without any specific contribution made by the Nature or the natural living conditions that prevail on planet Earth.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE SCIENCE OF NUTRITION:
Life comes into existence when energy-yielding molecules and energy-demanding molecules come together in a spiritual relationship. The Science of Nutrition has to state that Food serves the function of being a spiritual medium that fosters unity between man’s body, mind, and soul.
WHOLE DUDE – WHOLE FOOD :
WHAT IS FOOD? :
Man is constituted as a Physical being that is made up of about 100 trillion individual living cells that are structurally and functionally differentiated as the tissues and organ systems of the human body. Each living, individual cell is thermodynamically unstable. It means that the living system that is represented by the cell will dissolve into its non-living molecules and elements if not supplied energy from an external source. Food provides those energy-yielding molecules to energy-demanding molecules that constitute the Physical being. Food is used as a general term to describe substances consumed by man for nourishment. Food is defined as any substance which a living organism can convert into its own living substance from which it grows and develops new tissue, manipulates energy, etc., using a process called ‘metabolism’. The term ‘nutrient’ is explained as a substance that serves as food, or provides nourishment. The term ‘nutrition’ refers to the process of feeding or being nourished. As mentioned earlier, all the tissues and organs of which the human body is composed, consists of building blocks called cells. Every cell contains a spherical body called nucleus and a ground material, living substance, or living matter called ‘protoplasm’. The most striking characteristic of protoplasm is its vital property called ‘Nutrition’. In Human Physiology, the term ‘Nutrition’ is used to describe the ‘power’ which protoplasm has of attracting to itself the materials that provide energy, and the substances for its growth and maintenance from surrounding matter or extracellular environment. Man must feed himself and yet he depends upon the ability of cells to recognize the specific nutrient substances and take action to absorb them and process them for further use. Nutritional Science describes three major functions of food; 1. food generates energy for growth, maintenance and activity, 2. food supplies agents like vitamins and others that are needed to make or to help enzymes which carry out a variety of cellular processes, and 3. food provides the building materials like proteins and amino acids that are used for building cells and tissues of the body. The essential human nutrients are proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and vitamins. Human body cannot synthesize some of these nutrients and they must be supplied. To make this easy for understanding, human foods are divided into classes and the basic nutritional goal is to have a ‘Balanced Diet’ with items from all of the major Food Groups to perform all the living functions such as the uptake and conversion of nutrients, making, breaking, and repairing of organic molecules, production of energy, and regulation and coordination of various metabolic sequences.
WHAT IS WHOLE FOOD? :
The term ‘WHOLE’ is often used to describe something that is entire or complete to signify that it has all the elements or parts constituting the entire amount and it is not broken, damaged, or defective. The term ‘WHOLE’ also means auspicious, healthy, or uninjured and not diseased. We need to define human being as a ‘Whole Person’ to understand the complete entity that exists as man. There are five aspects of ‘Whole Person’:1. Man – the Physical being, 2. Man – the Mental being, 3. Man – the Social being, 4. Man – the Moral being, and 5. Man – the Spiritual being. These five components have to come together to establish the reality of man’s biological existence in the physical world. In the context of ‘Whole Food’, we need to find qualities that fit this description of being ‘Whole’ and its ability to perform all the functions that are attributed to Food. There is a huge growing concern about the substances that are adding to food by food industry. The concern involves the use of synthetic or artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Food that may contain artificial colors, artificial flavors and chemical preservatives may not promote good health and are even suspected to cause injury or disease. Hence, the concept of ‘Whole Food’ demands the exclusion of such artificial colors and flavors and all synthetic preservatives from the food products used by man for his nutrition. Even when chemicals are not added to food, there is a concern about chemicals like synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and hormones that are used by the food and agriculture industry. It calls for understanding the term called ‘Natural Food’. To be called ‘natural’, food must not be exposed or tainted by chemicals that are not ‘naturally’ present in the substances that are consumed as Food. This concern is often reflected in the demand for ‘Organic Food’ that calls for the exclusion of synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and growth hormones in the production of food. Apart from these considerations, the use of additives to change the taste, texture, and appearance of food have caused several health-related concerns. Some of them relate to the use of artificial sweeteners, and the use of partially hydrogenated oils. To qualify as ‘Whole Food’, it may require the exclusion of artificial sweeteners and the so-called ‘transfats’ from food. This concern is also extended to genetically modified organisms or GMOs that have become common. The genetically modified trait may impart some benefit to the substance and yet it may not qualify to be described as ‘Whole Food’.
WHOLE FOOD – WHOLE SATISFACTION :
Man is constituted to exist as a Mental being. Man relates to himself, his physical body with the help of his thoughts and moods. It seems that man often tries to discover his ‘essence’ or true identity not in his physical, living substance, but by knowing his ideas, thoughts, and imagination which describes his physical identity. These mental concepts that relate to identity are always associated with emotional feelings and moods that give meaning to the living condition or living state. Food provides substances to constitute the body and it also affects man’s thoughts and moods. The problems related to man’s feeding behavior will not be eliminated by supplying him what could be defined as ‘Balanced Diet’. The health problems associated with food consumption and caloric intake seem to persist even when man consumes ‘Balanced Diet’. It calls for further understanding of the functions of Food and we have to define the term ‘Whole Food’ by sharing the ‘Whole Story’ about Food and its role in human life. There are two important aspects of Food that are not taken into consideration by Nutritional Science. The Law may require that food products that are sold by retail food stores or grocery stores must provide adequate ‘Nutritional Information’. The products are labeled to provide information about the ingredients, allergens, and nutritional facts to help the consumer of food to make an informed choice about the food that is consumed. Such nutritional choices are helpful and yet there is a problem about the Food. There are two roles performed by Food and the concept of ‘Whole Food’ may have to give recognition to the role of Food apart from its function as the supply of nutrients. Food has to provide Satiation or the experience of mental contentment or psychological satisfaction from its consumption.
WHOLE FOOD – WHOLE COMMUNITY :
Man is constituted to exist as a Social being. Man’s growth and development demands social support. Man as a biological living entity could only be described as an association of trillions of individual cells. At the same time, there are about 10 times 100 trillion microbes that inhabit the human gastrointestinal tract. Man is a natural host and there is a mutually beneficial relationship between man the host, and the microbes that reside in his body. During the entire course of his life, man shares his food and drink with the guests who have taken residence in his body. These guests perform the function of an internal organ system and are important for man’s health and well-being. Man will always exist as a member of a Biotic or Biological community without any chance of true independence. This understanding is promoting the consumption of foods that are popularly termed as ‘PROBIOTIC’. Man to support his health and well-being has to consume some living organisms on a regular basis to replenish the microbes that are lost due to excretion. Food plays a vital role in the development, and the maintenance of social interactions, and social relationships.Food-directed activities of man often need social situations and social bonding. Food has the intrinsic ability to nurture a relationship between the provider of the food and the food consumer. At the same time, there is a direct emotional relationship between man and the Food he consumes. Man derives emotional satisfaction called ‘Satiation’ when he consumes Food. It contributes to satisfaction or a sense of mental contentment to shape his living experience. Man lives to experience satisfaction or mental contentment by gratifying his desires or cravings. Food craving is very important part of man’s life and biological existence. Balanced Diet may or may not provide the psychological contentment that man wants to derive by consuming Food. Such satisfaction demands social bonding between man and the food and between man and his provider of food. Hence, we have to develop our understanding of Food as a medium or as a substance that has the potency to develop and form relationships, association, connection, and bonding between man and his social community and environment in which man exists, and by the consumption of ‘Whole Food’ man may find ‘Whole Satisfaction’ in his living experience.
FOOD = ENERGY = LIFE = WHOLE ECOLOGY :
Man is constituted to exist as a Spiritual being. The term ‘SPIRITUAL’ refers to relationships that are based upon feelings of sympathy and understanding. Man has to define the spiritual basis of his relationship with the rest of the biological community and the physical environment that is common to all of them. Ecology is the Science that is concerned with the relation between organisms and their environment. ‘Food Chain’ in Ecology describes the sequence of transfers of matter and energy from organism to organism in the form of food. Food is the medium through which interrelatedness, interdependence, and the interconnectedness of organisms that are members of an Ecological System is expressed. A balanced growth of organisms that are connected in an Ecosystem demands the concept of ‘Sustainable Development’. Natural resources have to be used wisely to sustain the qualities of environment that supports living systems. Man needs food for his nourishment and to find this nourishment, man may have to stop environmental pollution and degradation that may upset the delicate Ecological Balance that operates in Nature. The manner in which man acquires energy-yielding molecules from his environment will define man’s definition of Food.
WHOLE FOOD – WHOLE MORALITY :
Man is constituted to exist as a Moral Being. Man is intrinsically endowed with a nature that displays the ability called discernment. Man has the ability to choose right conduct and right behavior as he has the ability to discern right from wrong, and distinguish good from bad. This human nature called discernment is related to the nature of the living substance or living matter called protoplasm. I have described its vital property called the Power of Nutrition. It uses this power with a sense of discernment. Protoplasm while attracting substances found in its external environment, it uses a very selective uptake process. Some substances are accepted and tolerated and some are rejected. It expresses intolerance to the presence of certain substances and its response may cause a severe and sometimes life-threatening allergic reaction. Man has no ability to consume all substances as Food. Man has to know about good and bad food choices, and man has to know as to which food is right and as to which food is wrong. Human beings acting individually and collectively have developed ‘Food Culture’ and Food Traditions to express their moral and ethical principles in all of their food-directed activities and behavior. In recent times, these concerns have developed into ideas such as ‘FAIR-TRADE’, ‘WHOLE-TRADE’ and ‘ECO-TRADE’. There is a growing genuine moral and ethical concern to support the living conditions of people and communities involved in growing Food. There is a growing interest to consume Food that is called ‘LOCAL’; food that is grown or manufactured in the local communities. Man must consume Food for his living and he may have to do it in a morally and ethically responsible manner. These concerns have generated the demand for ethical and compassionate treatment of all animals used as Food for human consumption. Food and Agriculture Industry are developing standards for Compassionate Treatment of Animals. The concept of ‘Whole Food’ would include the moral and ethical principles that man would apply to define his food-related behavior.
WHOLE FOOD – WHOLE SPIRITUALITY :
Food is defined as any substance which a living organism can convert into its own living substance or living matter called protoplasm, the physical basis of Life. This substance could be viewed as a spiritual substance as it has the potency to formulate functional harmony and mutually beneficial relationship among the cells, tissues, and organ systems that grow and develop using the energy and organic molecules synthesized by protoplasm. The concept of ‘Whole Food’ will naturally include the concept of Food as a Whole Spiritual Substance that must be treated with respect and devotion. Such an attitude of respect and devotion would help man to use Food as a Spiritual Medium to establish a Connection, a Relationship, an Association, a Partnership, and Bonding between the Food Consumer and the Divine Providence.
WHOLE FOOD – WHOLE LIFE :
I define the term ‘WHOLE FOOD’ as follows taking into consideration the five aspects of the role of Food in supporting the biological existence of man in his community, and environment as no man is truly capable of independent existence that excludes the social community and the physical environment in which he exists:
1. Whole Food provides the nutritional substances for the Physical well-being of man and supports his living functions.
2. Whole Food provides the satisfaction, the mental contentment that man needs to support his Mental well-being.
3. Whole Food provides the stimulus for social relationships and social bonding that man needs to support his Social well-being.
4. Whole Food provides the ability to man to express his moral and ethical principles to support his Moral well-being.
5. Whole Food provides the Spiritual basis for man’s relationship with Divine Providence to support the Spiritual well-being of man.
Whole Food is the nutritional substance that supports man’s Physical, Mental, Social, Moral, and Spiritual well-being. These five components of well-being are important to have the experience of Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in human Life. There is no Joy in Life and there is no Happiness in Mind, and there will be no Love in Heart until man finds Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the Living Experience. I say that, Whole Food gives man the experience of Whole Life; a Life of Satisfaction, Contentment, Happiness, and Joy.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF MEDICINE:
The Art of Medicine in its essence is a spiritual practice. It aims to restore the experience of Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the living condition of the Man. The fundamental concepts of Medical Theory reflect the Philosophy of Nature and of Man. The term Physician describes the person who practices ‘The Art of Medicine’. This term is derived from the medieval English word ‘PHYSIC'(Latin. physica; Greek. physike which means nature) which is used to describe Natural Science, Medicine, and Nature. This archaic usage of the English word “Physic” as the name for the art, science, practice and profession of Healing suggests what the word’s Greek root signifies, namely that the physician is a student of Nature.
Natural Science provides systematized knowledge of the physical world and its branches include Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and Geology. The Faculty of Medicine represents Biological Sciences that are concerned with knowledge bearing on the relation of man to nature. Medical Science as a Natural Science must be concerned with the following two questions:
1. What is the Status of Man in Nature?
2. What is the true or real Nature of Man?
The first question deals with man’s relationship with the physical world in which man exists. The physical world represents the total of all things in Time and Space or the entire physical universe. The term Nature includes the Power, Force, and Laws that regulate or operate in the physical world. In Biology, the Theory of Evolution proposes a view about the origin of species and it describes that things in Nature change under the influence of Time. It opposes various cultural, and religious beliefs about the origin of man and his Status as a Created Being. The second question is about the essential characteristics or qualities that makes or describes man’s essence as a Human Being. The Nature of Man deals with the inborn character, innate disposition, and inherent tendencies of the Whole Person and it includes the instincts, desires, appetites, drives etc., of the Person apart from the vital functions of specialized organs. Man’s Nature could be detected from the activities of the human organism and from the forces that operate and influence these activities.
THE MEDICAL THEORY – ATOMISM, MECHANISM vs SPIRITUALISM:
There is tremendous increase in our knowledge of the specific diseases and man developed a vast store of well-tested remedies and still the problems of medical practice essentially remain the same. According to Galen, the Art of Healing consists in imitating the health-giving and healing powers of nature itself. Galen thinks of human body as an organic unity and not as a simple aggregation of atoms or a system of interlocking parts. Galen had opposed the views of Atomism, or Mechanism that views the human body as a mechanical assembly of tiny, individual parts. In Galen’s view, Nature works not by the external impact of part upon part, but by its faculties or powers for the performance of natural functions and the production of natural effects. “Nature is not posterior to the corpuscles( small, constituent parts), but a long way prior to them…” writes Galen. “Therefore it is nature which puts together the bodies of both plants and animals; and this she does by virtue of certain faculties which she possesses – these being on the one hand, attractive and assimilative of what is appropriate, and on the other, expulsive of what is foreign. Further, she skillfully moulds everything during the stage of genesis; and she also provides for the creatures after birth employing her other faculties again.” Galen calls Nature the Artist for it produces effects according to its powers and in conformity to its needs. Nature seems to work with intelligence and for an end, not blindly and by chance. Galen stated it as a maxim, “Nothing is done by Nature in Vain.” An Art like Medicine seems to imitate Nature by cooperating with natural process. The Art of Medicine involves following the course of nature, and thereby it enables the natural result to emerge by overcoming the chances of adverse outcome. The interior nature is the Principal cause of Healing with the physician providing exterior or external help. The physician strengthens nature and employs food and medicine to assist the natural mechanism( such as the “Repair and Inflammation” described in the Science called Human Pathology) to achieve the intended end. The subordination of The Art of Medicine to Nature appears to be the keystone of the whole structure of Medical Practice. The patient is guided to regulate and control the various aspects of diet, exercise, and the lifestyle and medicines or drugs perform an auxiliary function. Surgery is used in the treatment of injuries and to resolve problems where medication by itself will not yield good results. However, it is important to remember that surgical procedures and interventions work by cooperating with nature and natural healing process called Repair and Inflammation. In other words, the physician is a servant , not a master of Nature. Medicine as an Art can be compared to Agriculture which helps a natural result to come about but this effect would never occur without the work of the Artist. Plants may grow and reproduce without the help of farmers. A person may regain some health without the care of physicians. But, in reality, it is impossible to raise a crop or to grow an orchard by simply depending upon nature and natural mechanisms.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE SPIRITUAL BASIS FOR HEALTH:
If the term Soul or Spirit describes the vital, animating principle that governs and operates the existence of the human organism, its nature and functions can be derived from studying the structure and functions of the Red Blood Cell or Erythrocyte which simply exists to integrate and to harmonize the functions of trillions of individual cells, tissues, and the organ systems that constitute the Whole Person who exists as an Individual with Individuality. Health is that condition of the body in which the physiological elements are in balance and in which the various parts function harmoniously with one another. Health represents harmony or good order, or equilibrium in the body. I describe Spirituality as the operating Principle that generates this functional unity, good order, and equilibrium among the cells, tissues, organs, and the organ systems that comprise the human organism and the human Individual who exists because of these functions experiences Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in his living condition.
The Theory of Medicine will determine the nature of The Art of Medicine that is practiced to establish the Physician – Patient Relationship. If The Art of Medicine is based upon Spirituality Science, the Physician – Patient Relationship will have a Spiritual basis. I would ask my readers to give attention to the problems of modern medical practice and we need a Medical Theory that would have a bearing on the following three aspects of The Art of Medicine:
1. Is Health is better served by the General Practitioner treating the Whole Man or by a Specialist treating a functionally differentiated Special Organ or Organ System?
2. What should be the nature of the Physician-Patient relationship? Is there a therapeutic factor in the relationship that underlines the effectiveness of the Physician’s skills in all other respects?
3. What is the interaction between mind and body in the origin and in the cure of disease?
