The Discovery of Bliss on Akshaya Tritiya

The festival of Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated by Hindus and Jains around the world. Also known as Akti or Akha Teej, this day is believed to be one of the most auspicious occasions. This year, it falls on Friday, May 10.

The Discovery of Bliss on Akshaya Tritiya.

According to the Hindu calendar, Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third tithi called Tadiya (lunar day) of Shukla Paksha of the Vaisakha month. Going by the Gregorian calendar, it falls somewhere around April and May.

The Discovery of Bliss on Akshaya Tritiya. Friday, May 10, 2024 is the third day of the Waxing Crescent phase of the Moon in the Second Month of Vaisaka of Hindu Calendar.

One of the most important rituals includes worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day. For Hindus, the Sanskrit meaning of Akshaya Tritiya, the two words, holds a lot of importance. “Akshaya” means “never diminishing” and the term “Tritiya” signifies the third day of the illuminated half of Vaisakha month.

THE STORY OF AKSHAYA PATRA:

Akshaya Patra. Discover Bliss From an Empty Pot.

DHARMA RAJA, THE ELDEST OF PANDAVA PRINCES RECEIVING “AKSHAYA PATRA” FROM ‘SURYA BHAGAWAN’

The word ‘Akshaya Patra’ in Sanskrit language means an inexhaustible vessel. This pot could supply delicious meals in an endless manner. This story is found in the Indian Epic poem of Mahabharata. Akshaya Patra was a divine gift given to Dharmaraj by the Sun god, Surya. The pot was given to help the princely family of Pandavas to tide over their difficulties while they spent twelve years in the forest. They had to spend time in exile after losing their kingdom in a game of dice. Akshaya Patra would provide meals so that the Pandava family could keep up with the Indian traditions of hospitality. Also keeping in line with the tradition, each day Akshaya Patra would serve the final and last meal to the hostess. The hostess, Draupadi was very mindful of her traditional role and each day she would feed all the guests, all the dependents, all the family members and would then take the last meal.

THE DISCOVERY OF BLISS FROM AN EMPTY POT:

Akshaya Patra. Discover the Bliss From an Empty Pot.

As per the story from Mahabharata, one evening, Princess Draupadi finds herself in a troubled situation. A Hindu sage by the name of Durvasa with a large entourage of his disciples arrives at the forest abode of Pandava princes after hostess Draupadi took the last meal from Akshaya Patra. Since the pot cannot serve any more food, she prays to Lord Krishna seeking help to feed her guests. Lord Krishna appears before her and asks her to feed Him from Akshaya Patra. Draupadi regretfully answers that the pot is empty. He directs her to take a closer look. Princess Draupadi carefully reexamines the pot and discovers a single grain of rice that remained stuck in the pot. As instructed, she feeds the last grain from the pot to Lord Krishna and now the pot gets truly empty. However, Lord Krishna derived His satiation, complete satisfaction when the last grain from the pot got removed. Along with Lord Krishna’s experience of full satisfaction from eating a morsel of food, the entire party of guests experience full satiation and inform Princess Draupadi that she need not serve them any meal. Thus Princess Draupadi escapes from the duty of the hospitality tradition of actually feeding them that evening.

Discovery of Bliss on Akshaya Tritiya.

I am speaking of this story about Akshaya Patra to understand the concept about emptying the mind to discover pure consciousness. In Indian literature and idiom, the mind is often compared to a vessel or a pot. When all thoughts (or desires) are taken out of the mind, what would remain in the mind is like that single grain of rice that Draupadi discovered in the otherwise empty Akshaya Patra. In my analysis, this last grain of food represents the desire or attachment to life. When the desire or attachment to life is surrendered, the man attains the state of pure consciousness which discovers its unity with the Divine consciousness to provide the experience of Pure Bliss and Joy. Lord Krishna could have easily provided a hearty meal to the entire party of guests. He did not choose to provide happiness through gratification of the physical needs of the body. The pot, if seen as the representation of the mind, the mind gets truly emptied when the last grain or desire, or craving, or attachment is removed from it. Lord Krishna demonstrates that there is no need to fill-up the pot to feed our desires. He delivered Joy, Bliss, and the experience of perfect satisfaction after emptying the pot. Just like the empty Akshaya Patra that provided Bliss, when the last grain of desire or attachment is removed from the mind and given in offering to the Lord, the Lord would provide all that you may need without the physical gratification of the senses. Man at any given age, under all given circumstances, in good health, or ill-health exists in this physical world because of ‘God-Connection’, the Connection between man, the energy seeker, and God, the energy provider. When the God-Connection is recognized, the man experiences a sense of satisfaction, mental satiation, and he would have no desires to be gratified.

To:

Shri. Narendra Damodardas Modi,

Honourable Prime Minister of India,

The Prime Minister’s Office(PMO),

South Block, Raisina Hill,

Subject:- Operation Eagle – Military Operation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts – India-Pakistan War of 1971 – “The Past is Never Dead.” – Regarding.

Reference:- Government of India Ministry of Defence Letter No. 3533/2009/D(Cer) dated 2nd/3rd  December, 2009.

Operation Eagle – Military Operation in Chittagong Hill Tracts in 1971 -“The Past is Never Dead.” I am asking release of 1971 War Service Citation to get due recognition as per Battle Plan approved by the Prime Minister of India.

 Honorable Prime Minister of India,

1. Using the famous words of Nobel Laureate William Faulkner, I would submit to you, “The Past is Never Dead… It’s not even Past.”

2. I,  R. Rudra Narasimham, Personal Number. MS-8466, Rank. Captain, R. R. Narasimham, AMC/SSC, was posted to Headquarters Establishment No. 22 C/O 56 APO (Est No. 22 ) as Medical Officer with effect from 22 September 1971.

3. At Est No. 22, I was issued written orders to take part in military Operation Eagle (Op Eagle). The Battle Plan was approved by Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi. In other words, Op Eagle derived legal authority for it was duly sanctioned by the Government of India. I acted in obedience to the orders issued by my immediate superior Officers as the military plan is sanctioned by the Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India. Kindly ask me if I have to provide any other information about Op Eagle and its legal status as an Official act of War.

4. The Op Eagle battle plan included the use of helicopter flights from India for airlifting of battle casualties from the Chittagong Hill Tracts to the Field Hospital, Lungleh, Mizoram.

5. For the conduct of military operations, I was posted to ‘South Column’ Unit commanded by Lieutenant Colonel B K Narayan. Under his Command, my Unit penetrated enemy territory. We launched an offensive attack on an entrenched enemy post at about 40 miles distance from a Border Security Force Post in Indian territory. As the Unit Medical Officer, my duties and responsibilities were that of treating and holding battle casualties at my Unit location in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Force Headquarters of Op Eagle was assigned the duty and responsibility of evacuation of battle casualties from the Unit location to the Field Hospital.

6. During the initial phase of Op Eagle, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi withheld her permission for the use of helicopter flight from India to the Unit Battlefield location in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

7. Apart from the helicopter airlift, Brigadier T S Oberoi, Brigade Commander at the Force Headquarters, Op Eagle had no alternate or contingency plan for immediate and safe evacuation of battle casualties from the Chittagong Hill Tracts to the Field Hospital. Lack of planned airlift support imposed sudden, unexpected challenge. I accepted this challenge and went beyond the call of my duty and executed the difficult task of this casualty evacuation after we seized an enemy position in a fierce battle.

8. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, when briefed about this battle casualty evacuation problem, gave permission for helicopter flights from India to the Chittagong Hill Tracts on Day 5 of Op Eagle after I successfully completed my task.

9. My actions to perform the duties of Medical Officer during Op Eagle clearly show that I took the initiative to respond in a timely manner at a critical juncture, went Beyond the Call of Duty, and  performed my tasks without sense of fear and without concern for my personal safety inside enemy territory where we faced the threat of enemy retaliation and the threat posed by Mizo rebels who operated on both sides of  India-Pakistan border. To put this in proper perspective, I have to mention that this battle casualty evacuation on Day 3/4 involved a physically challenging march of over 80 miles within 24 hours across remote, roadless, hilly, forest terrain. Kindly let me know if any other Army Medical Corps Officer performed a similar task during Indian Army military operations. For the first time in the history of Indian Army Medical Corps, I provided medical care and comfort as a Medical Officer, in addition, I performed nursing duties which are expected of AMC Nursing Assistant and Ambulance Assistant during battle casualty evacuation. As my Unit was still engaged in defending the just captured enemy post, the AMC Nursing Assistants remained on their duty and could not be spared for battle casualty evacuation.

10. My Unit Commander, Lieutenant Colonel B K Narayan initiated a citation that recommended grant of Gallantry Award – “Vir Chakra” to recognize my gallant action deep inside the enemy territory; the citation was approved and recommended by Brigade Commander, Brigadier T S Oberoi, VrC, and by Formation Commander, Major General Sujan Singh Uban, Inspector General of Special Frontier Force.

11. Kindly direct the Under Secretary (Cer), Ministry of Defence to publicly release this citation recommending the grant of Gallantry Award during my 1971 War Service.

Thanking You,

Yours Faithfully,

R. Rudra Narasimham, B.Sc., M.B.B.S.,

BURRA KATHA: THE TRADITIONAL ART FORM OF NARRATIVE ENTERTAINMENT OF ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA

Burra Katha is the most popular art form of narrative entertainment for the Telugu-speaking Indians. A tribute to Telugu Revolutionary Freedom Fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.

Burra Katha is the most popular art form of narrative entertainment in the State of Andhra Pradesh, India. In this theatrical form, a story teller accompanied by two partners, one on either side, recites a story while speaking, singing and dancing. The term “BURRA” refers to a stringed musical instrument called TAMBURA. The resonating chamber is made of a hollow shell (and the word ‘burra’ also refers to the human skull in the Telugu language). The main performer wears this instrument across his right shoulder. The term “KATHA” means a story. Storytelling is an important Oral Tradition in India and there are several traditional ways of narrating a story.

The main performer (‘KATHAKOODU’) plays the ‘tambura’ as he dances rhythmically moving forwards and backwards on the stage while reciting a story. He also wears a metal ring and carries a ring in his palm to add to the tempo while he sings. The co-performers play two-headed earthen drums (‘DAKKI’)to accentuate the songs. All the three performers will be wearing anklets with tiny bells called ‘ANDELU’ or ‘GAJJALU’ which add to the music when they dance and perform. One of the drummer is referred to as the ‘RAJKIYA’ and he comments on contemporary political and social issues even if the main story concerns historical or mythological events. The other drummer is known as ‘HASYAM’ and he cracks jokes and provides comic relief and constantly keeps the audience well entertained and keeps up their interest in the performance. The performers regularly address each other and the co-performers often interrupt the main performer to ask doubts and they add emphasis to the main events in the story with short words and phrases. Generally, the performance would begin with a prayer song. Then the main performer introduces the story by establishing the place, time and historical context of the action. The co-performers repeat the refrain of the narrative. The story begins with the statement, “VINARA BHARATA VEERA KUMARA, VEERA GADHA VINARA” which means, HEAR, THE YOUNG BRAVE SON OF BHARAT (INDIA), HEAR THE STORY OF THE BRAVE and the co-performers affirm the proceedings with the words ‘TANDHANA TANE TANDHANA’. After these introductions, the main plot begins in which all three performers take an active role assuming various characters in the incidents, as well as providing narrative bridges between incidents. Thus, dance, recitation, songs, dialogues and enactment of scenes provide variation within a strong narrative line of Burra Katha.

Burra Katha – My Connection to Nation and Nationalism

Burra Katha stories could be mythological, historical and sociopolitical. It became the medium to enlighten the people about the political situation and played an effective role in conveying the message to people and awakening them during Indian Independence Movement. This art form became so popular, the British government banned its performance in the Madras Presidency and Nizam, the ruler of the princely State of Hyderabad, prohibited these shows in Telengana region.

MY CONNECTION TO THE NATION AND NATIONALISM:

I am connected to the place known as Rajahmundry of East Godavari district by way of my family connections. The most important connection is that my father and my grandfather belong to Rajahmundry and both of them worked for the ‘CROWN’ while the British ruled India. The British created opportunities to render public service and Natives who served in the name of the Crown remained in their jobs even after Independence as their services were very much appreciated by the community and such public service was not seen as a hindrance to winning the political freedom. I arrived on the scene after India’s independence and the relics of the colonial rule were still fully evident. For example, the elementary school in my neighborhood was known as King George Elementary School. As I grew up, it is Rajahmundry which shaped my connection to the rest of the country. The spirit of ‘NATIONALISM’ was fully thriving even after the departure of the British. The people of Rajahmundry loved all types of freedom fighters. On one hand, they adored Mahatma Gandhi and on the other hand, they embraced ‘NETAJI’ Subhash Chandra Bose, a revolutionary as their true hero. They made no distinction between the non-violence, ahimsa credo of Gandhi and the revolutionary tactics of armed rebellion advocated by Bose. Fighting the foreign occupier was important to the natives of Rajahmundry and all kinds of tactics were equally welcome. The story that connected me to this spirit of ‘nationalism’ reached me by way of Burra Katha performances that I witnessed in Rajahmundry. The one story that made a lasting impression was about a young revolutionary freedom fighter known popularly as “RAJU.”

ANDHRA SRI , ALLURI SITA RAMA RAJU ( July 4, 1897- May 7, 1924):

Burrakatha-My Connection to the Nation and Nationalism. A tribute to Telugu Revolutionary Freedom Fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.

He lives in the hearts of the Telugu people as the “Manyam Veerudu” (Hero of the Jungles). He was Andhra’s early revolutionaries. He was inspired by the patriotic zeal of the revolutionaries in Bengal. He fought for social justice, for freedom and to liberate the innocent tribals from ruthless exploitation and oppression. The tribal corridor known as ‘MANYAM’ extends from Vijayanagaram to Godavari districts. He made this Agency area as his home and launched his struggle against the British with the help of the tribal people. This young man renounced his marital life and became the leader of what is known as the ‘RAMPA REBELLION’. In the Telugu language, it is known as the ‘RAMPA PITURI’. The word ‘pituri’ means complaints. He believed that freedom is not something to be begged for. He waged a successful but short lived guerilla warfare against the British occupiers from 1922 to 1923. The British General Rutherford who was deputed to crush the uprising used trickery and enticed Raju with a deal for peace. The British burnt down entire villages of the tribals, beaten the old and the children, molested the women, killed the young and tortured the captives. Raju who had innocently shown up to talk peace to save the tribals from the campaign of terror unleashed by the British forces was unceremoniously captured, was tied up to a tamarind tree and was brutally shot dead with a rifle in Mampa village, in the forests of Chintapalli. He became a martyr at the young age of 28. He was executed without a trial on May 7, 1924. His story generates the feelings of nationalism and is very effectively narrated to the people in the format of Burra Katha. Raju had his early education at Rajahmundry and I feel connected to my place and to the rest of the country because of this man of great spirit and honor.

CELESTIAL MECHANICS – A DEVOTIONAL INQUIRY: THE MILKY WAY GALAXY SYSTEM IS JUST ONE OF THE BILLIONS OF GALAXIES THAT MAKE UP THE UNIVERSE. SUN’S PERIOD OF REVOLUTION, ITS CIRCULAR ORBIT ABOUT THE GALACTIC CENTER TAKES ABOUT 200 MILLION YEARS. HOW SHOULD WE INTERPRET THIS INFORMATION?

Yes indeed, Life is complicated. The complexities of Life do not perplex me for I am totally unaware of the realities of motion. 1. I exist on the surface of Whole Planet without experiencing the speed of Earth, and 2. I may think that I am at a perfect rest, lying in the comfort of my bed while the living matter or the living substance of my body never ceases its motion. Protoplasm or Cytoplasm is the organ of motion or movement and Life ceases to happen if the motion or movement of Protoplasm or Cytoplasm stops.

The Rudolf-Rudi Connection explores the Dynamics of Whole Equilibrium.

The concept of Equilibrium explained by Physics must be reconciled with the information provided by Biological Science which describes the Life in Motion.

The Rudolf-Rudi Connection explores the Dynamics of Whole Equilibrium.

I ask my readers to learn about the importance of the motion or movement of Cytoplasm often described as Cytoplasmic Streaming. I am sharing the information from a Text Book of Medical Physiology that explains the role of Cytoplasmic Streaming in the transportation of Neuropeptides in the Nervous System.

Organization of the Nervous System, Basic Functions of Synapses, and Neurotransmitters

John E. Hall PhD, in Guyton and Hall Textbook of Medical Physiology, 2021

Neuropeptides

The Rudolf-Rudi Connection explains the Dynamics of Whole Equilibrium. Life in Motion. The Role of Cytoplasmic Streaming in the Functions of the Nervous System.

Neuropeptides are synthesized differently and have actions that are usually slow and in other ways different from those of the small-molecule transmitters. The neuropeptides are not synthesized in the cytosol of the presynaptic terminals. Instead, they are synthesized as integral parts of large-protein molecules by ribosomes in the neuronal cell body.

The protein molecules then enter the spaces inside the endoplasmic reticulum of the cell body and subsequently inside the Golgi apparatus, where two changes occur. First, the neuropeptide-forming protein is enzymatically split into smaller fragments, some of which are either the neuropeptide itself or a precursor of it. Second, the Golgi apparatus packages the neuropeptide into minute transmitter vesicles that are released into the cytoplasm. Then, the transmitter vesicles are transported all the way to the tips of the nerve fibers byaxonal streaming of the axon cytoplasm, traveling at the slow rate of only a few centimeters per day. Finally, these vesicles release their transmitter at the neuronal terminals in response to action potentials in the same manner as for small-molecule transmitters. However, the vesicle is autolyzed and is not reused.

Because of this laborious method of forming the neuropeptides, much smaller quantities of neuropeptides than the small-molecule transmitters are usually released. This difference is partly compensated for by the fact that the neuropeptides are generally a thousand or more times as potent as the small-molecule transmitters. Another important characteristic of the neuropeptides is that they often cause much more prolonged actions. Some of these actions include prolonged closure of calcium channels, prolonged changes in the metabolic machinery of cells, prolonged changes in activation or deactivation of specific genes in the cell nucleus, and/or prolonged alterations in numbers of excitatory or inhibitory receptors. Some of these effects last for days, but others last perhaps for months or years. Our knowledge of the functions of the neuropeptides is only beginning to develop.

Neuropeptide and Small-Molecule Transmitters May Coexist in the Same Neurons

Slowly acting neuropeptide transmitters and rapidly acting, small-moleculetransmitters are often stored and released from the same neurons. In some cases, two or more of these transmitters areco-localized in the same synaptic vesicles and areco-released when an action potential reaches the presynaptic terminal. In other cases, these transmitters may be localized in different populations of synaptic vesicles of the same neuron and contribute toco-transmission of signals to a postsynaptic neuron. Moreover, their release may be differentially regulated because of different calcium ion sensitivities or spatial segregation of the vesicles on different boutons.

Whole Dynamics vs Laplacian Determinism:

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: LAPLACIAN DETERMINISM. FRENCH MATHEMATICIAN PIERRE SIMON LAPLACE(1749-1827) PROPOSED A VIEW THAT THE UNIVERSE CAN RUN LIKE A MACHINE WITH NO CAPACITY FOR FREE CHOICE IN ANY OF ITS BEHAVIOR.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: LAPLACIAN DETERMINISM. FRENCH MATHEMATICIAN PIERRE SIMON LAPLACE (1749-1827) PROPOSED A VIEW THAT THE UNIVERSE CAN RUN LIKE A MACHINE WITH NO CAPACITY FOR FREE CHOICE IN ANY OF ITS BEHAVIOR.

The view called “Laplacian Determinism” is not the basis for Peace, Harmony, Tranquility, and Equilibrium that plays a central role in sustaining human existence. Laplace proposed his theory without making the distinction between animate, and inanimate material bodies.

Whole Dynamics – Whole Equilibrium vs Laplacian Determinism

The French astronomer and mathematician, Pierre Simon De Laplace (b. March 28, 1749, d. March 5, 1827) confirmed the long-term stability of the Solar System by mathematically demonstrating the long-term periodicity of three sets of irregularities in the motions of Solar System bodies; 1. the acceleration of the mean motions of the mutually perturbing planets Jupiter and Saturn, 2. the acceleration of the mean motions of the mutually perturbing inner three Galilean satellites of Jupiter, and 3. the acceleration of the mean motion of the Moon. He published a monumental 5-volume work, “Traite de Mecanique Celeste” Treatise on Celestial Mechanics during 1799 to 1825. He applied Newtonian Gravitation to the entire Solar System. Issac Newton believed that divine intervention was periodically required to preserve the Solar System in equilibrium. Laplace demonstrated the invariability of planetary mean motions, Jupiter’s orbit appeared to be continuously shrinking while Saturn’s continually expanded. Laplace offers a complete mechanical interpretation of the Solar System by devising methods for calculating the motions of the planets and their satellites and their perturbations. Laplace proposed a view that is called “Laplacian Determinism.” He claims the attribute of universe to run on like a machine with no capacity for caprice or free choice in any of its behavior, including that of the living beings who are also subject to Newtonian Mechanics. Laplace describes that Classical Mechanics has a fully deterministic character; given the masses, and the forces, and the initial positions and velocities exactly, exact predictions of future and past behavior can be found. Laplace supports his theory on the basis of valid, mathematical calculations but his view cannot be applied to the living beings.

Laplace’s Determinism: given the position and velocity of all particles at an instant, plus the laws of nature, the entire future and past of the universe can be calculated. But: the idea that all natural processes can be reduced to motion of atoms, and that there is a fixed set of exact laws of nature determining this motion, would have seemed overly simplistic by the late 19th century.

In my view, no exact, or precise predictions can be made about the past or future behavior of living beings. Human existence is conditioned, and at any given instant, the fact of existence demands the operation of a Fundamental Force that I would call ‘Love’. While Newton’s Classical Mechanics is useful for all practical applications to large-scale systems, it cannot account for the ‘Equilibrium’ that is the basis for human existence; the Equilibrium in which any number of forces balance each other and thereby cancel giving rise to the experience of Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the living condition. I prefer the term “Whole Equilibrium” to account for human existence as it demands a study of equilibrium that goes beyond Mechanics, Statics, and Dynamics.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: HUMAN EXISTENCE DEMANDS A BALANCE OR HARMONY TO MAINTAIN A STEADY STATE CALLED DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM OR "WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM."
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: HUMAN EXISTENCE DEMANDS A BALANCE OR HARMONY TO MAINTAIN A STEADY STATE CALLED DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM OR “WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM.” IN WHICH THE LIVING BEING HAS THE EXPERIENCE CALLED PEACE, HARMONY, AND TRANQUILITY. I PREFER THE TERM “WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM” FOR IT GOES BEYOND THE STUDY OF MECHANICS, STATICS, AND DYNAMICS.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE MEANING OF WORDS USED IN THE CONVERSATION TO DISCUSS ABOUT LAPLACIAN DETERMINISM.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE MEANING OF WORDS USED IN THE CONVERSATION TO DISCUSS ABOUT LAPLACIAN DETERMINISM.

Mechanics is the branch of Physics that deals with the motion of material bodies and the phenomena of the action of forces on bodies in motion. Dynamics is the branch of Mechanics dealing with the motions of material bodies under the action of given, or applied forces. Dynamics includes Kinematics which is the study of motion without regard to the forces producing it, and Kinetics which is the study of the forces that produce or change motion. The branch of Mechanics called Statics deals with bodies at rest or in equilibrium. The maintenance of equilibrium in bodies depends upon the interaction of forces acting upon them. In a state of equilibrium the resultant of all outside forces acting on a body is zero, thus keeping the body at rest.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: IT WILL BE INCORRECT TO ASSUME THAT A STATIONARY PERSON IS IN A STATE OF EQUILIBRIUM. LIFE IS A DYNAMIC EVENT. THE LIVING BEING IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING. THE THING OR BODY CALLED LIVING BEING IS ALWAYS IN MOTION AND THE FACT OF MOTION BRINGS CHANGES EVEN WHEN THE OBJECT IS NOT MOVING IN ITS EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE NORMAL FORCE ‘N’ TO MAINTAIN VERTICAL GAIT IN STATIONARY POSITION IS COUNTERACTED BY ‘W’ THE WEIGHT OF THE PERSON. IT WILL BE INCORRECT TO ASSUME THAT A STATIONARY PERSON IS IN A STATE OF EQUILIBRIUM.

The term ‘Equilibrium’ refers to a state of balance or equality between opposing forces. When applied to living things, equilibrium refers to the ability of the animal body to keep itself properly oriented or positioned; bodily stability or bodily balance. However, the term ‘Equilibrium’ when applied to man, it may refer to a state of balance or adjustment of conflicting desires, interests, etc., Very often, equilibrium is used to describe a mental state of equanimity which demands mental or emotional stability or balance, or poise. In Physics, a motionless person is in Static Equilibrium because the forces acting on the person add up to zero. In the above image, both forces acting on the stationary person are vertical. However, the fact of Static Equilibrium may not describe the presence or absence of Mental Equilibrium.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE CAR IS IN DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM BECAUSE IT IS MOVING AT CONSTANT VELOCITY. THERE ARE HORIZONTAL, AND VERTICAL FORCES, BUT THE NET EXTERNAL FORCE IN ANY DIRECTION IS ZERO.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE CAR IS IN DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM BECAUSE IT IS MOVING AT CONSTANT VELOCITY. THERE ARE HORIZONTAL, AND VERTICAL FORCES, BUT THE NET EXTERNAL FORCE IN ANY DIRECTION IS ZERO.

Static Equilibrium is a state of equilibrium in which the ne external force and torque acting on a system is zero. Dynamic Equilibrium is a state of equilibrium in which the net external force and torque on a system moving with constant velocity are zero. In the above image, the car is in Dynamic Equilibrium because it is moving at constant velocity. There are horizontal, and vertical forces, but the net external force in any direction is zero. The weight of the car is supported by the normal forces shown to be equal for all four tires. The applied force F app between the tires and the road is balanced by air friction, and ‘w’ the weight of the car. Dynamic Equilibrium is applied in Thermodynamics for systems involving reversible reactions. In a dynamic equilibrium, the rate of loss is equal to the rate of gain.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: IN MAN, HEALTH IS RELATIVE EQUILIBRIUM OF BODY FORM AND FUNCTION WHICH RESULTS FROM ITS SUCCESSFUL DYNAMIC ADJUSTMENT TO FORCES TENDING TO DISTURB IT.

Man is a living system that demands a condition called ‘Whole Equilibrium’ to maintain its existence as a living being. Health is relative equilibrium of body form and function which results from its successful dynamic adjustment to forces tending to disturb it.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: TO DESCRIBE EQUILIBRIUM AS APPLIED TO MAN, THE FACT OF BEING AT PHYSICAL REST OR IN A STATE OF MOTION IN THE GIVEN EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT ARE LESS RELEVANT COMPARED TO THE REQUIREMENT OF "HOMEOSTASIS" AS DEFINED BY FRENCH PHYSICIAN CLAUDE BERNARD.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – WHOLE DYNAMICS – WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: TO DESCRIBE EQUILIBRIUM AS APPLIED TO MAN, THE FACT OF BEING AT PHYSICAL REST OR IN A STATE OF MOTION IN THE GIVEN EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT ARE LESS RELEVANT COMPARED TO THE REQUIREMENT OF “HOMEOSTASIS” AS DEFINED BY FRENCH PHYSICIAN CLAUDE BERNARD.

To describe ‘Equilibrium’ as applied to man, the concept of “Homeostatis” as defined by the French physician Claude Bernard is very important. Bernard (1813-78) is recognized as the founder of experimental medicine. He states, “All the vital mechanisms, varied as they are, have only one object; that of preserving constant the conditions of life.” All living things maintain a constant internal environment and try to make adjustments to gross changes in the external environmental conditions. Dr Bernard developed the concept of “Milieu Interieur”, the theory of “Inner Environment”; blood, and body fluids constitute the “internal environment” in which cells carry out their activities. The term “Homeostasis” in Physiology refers to the tendency to maintain, or the maintenance of, normal, internal stability in an organism by coordinated responses of the organ systems that automatically compensate for environmental changes. At any given instant, man’s existence as a material body depends on conditions like Fluid and Electrolyte Balance, Acid-Base Regulation that is concerned  with Hydrogen ion (H+) concentration and Bicarbonate concentration in blood. Life is possible only if  the Hydrogen ion concentration of body fluids is kept within a narrow range; pH value of 7.37 to 7.45 is maintained by several closely integrated but widely differing mechanisms. The chemical events collectively called Metabolism require the concentration of Hydrogen ions and electrolytes to remain within narrow limits in the tissue cells and in the fluids which bathes them. This concept of “Homeostasis” is also applicable to any analogous maintenance of stability or equilibrium in any given social group. Man fundamentally exists as a Social Being and Social Equilibrium as a factor governing living bodies must be given due recognition. Gravitation, Electricity, and Magnetism are different kinds of physical forces, and Mechanics as a Physical Science  can explain the manner in which bodies move under the action of physical forces. In Physics, the simplest mechanical system is the ‘Particle’, a small body and its internal structure and its dimensions are of no consequence in the given problem. Planet Earth may be considered as a rigid – body in which each point is always at a fixed distance from every other. Earth behaves like a Particle as it moves around the Sun and can be treated as a rigid- body in its rotation about its axis. In Classical Mechanics, the bodies are stiff and their deformations have no effect on their motions. Newton’s Laws of Motion assume that the body is a Particle for it covers only the overall motion of a body i.e., the motion of its center of mass and not any rigid-body motion such as rotation. These concepts of ‘Particle’, ‘Rigid-Body’, and ‘Motion’ that are used in Physics and Celestial Mechanics cannot be easily applied in the study of living bodies.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: THE CONCEPTS OF PARTICLE, RIGID-BODY, AND MOTION USED IN CELESTIAL MECHANICS CANNOT BE APPLIED TO LIVING BODIES. MAN NEEDS THE OPERATION OF THE FUNDAMENTAL FORCE CALLED LOVE TO COUNTERACT ALL OTHER FORCES THAT ACT ON MAN TO PROVIDE HIM THE SENSE OF EQUILIBRIUM.

MAN NEEDS THE OPERATION OF THE FUNDAMENTAL FORCE CALLED LOVE TO COUNTERACT ALL OTHER FORCES THAT ACT ON MAN TO PROVIDE HIM THE SENSE OF EQUILIBRIUM.

I agree that the Laws of Mechanics, with Time, Space, and Mass as their fundamental variables have a universality that is adequate for describing a variety of natural phenomena. All changes in material non-living things are either the local motions of bodies or the result of the local motions of their parts. Motions are determined in their magnitude and direction by the impressed force which one body exerts upon another and the resistance of that other body.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING: THE HUMAN ORGANISM RUNS ITS LIVING FUNCTIONS AS IF OPERATED BY A PRECISE TIMEKEEPING DEVICE OR BIOLOGICAL CLOCK. MAN’S EXPERIENCE OF TIME IS RELATED TO SUN’S APPARENT MOTIONS IN THE SKY. MAN KNOWS THE REALITY OF TIME BECAUSE OF AN ILLUSION THAT CAUSES DAY AND NIGHT GIVING MAN THE PERCEPTION OF SUN’S APPARENT MOTION WHILE CONCEALING THE REALITY OF SUN’S MOTION IN THE MILKY WAY GALAXY.

Can Life be explained in terms of the Laws of Mechanics, that is, the “Push” or “Pull” of one body upon another?  I agree that Mechanics signifies a whole philosophy of Nature, a set of fundamental principles under which all the physical sciences can be unified. The principles of Mechanics are applied in Statics, Dynamics, Acoustics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Magnetism, and Electricity. It covers a variety of phenomena from Celestial Mechanics to motions of indivisible particles or Quantum Mechanics. I have no particular concern for Quantum Mechanics, for the operation of the Living Systems is concerned with the structural, and functional organization that mostly involves chemical molecules. The Living Substance is always in motion; the man is also always in motion; but the living thing exists as a rigid-body measuring its lifespan using the clues of time intervals or duration between Sunrise and Sunset which track the apparent motion of Sun across earthly sky.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ETERNAL LAW OF AGING: THERE ARE SEVERAL THEORIES ABOUT SENESCENCE. APART FROM THE MEASUREMENT OF CHRONOLOGICAL AGE, IT WOULD BE VERY USEFUL TO ASSESS AND MEASURE THE BIOLOGICAL AGE OF THE HUMAN ORGANISM AS THAT WOULD HELP TO PREDICT AGE-RELATED CHANGES IN THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION AND INVENT INTERVENTION MECHANISMS TO REDIRECT OR REGULATE THE AGING PROCESS.

The realities of Celestial Mechanics do not operate the Living Systems as Life demands the intervention called illusion and the blocking of the ability to experience the real motions of planets, satellites, and stars. For man to experience the condition called ‘rest’, or ‘equilibrium’, or ‘static equilibrium’, or ‘dynamic equilibrium’ needs the operation of a Fundamental Force called Love that counteracts all the forces acting upon human body at any given instant.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - WHOLE DYNAMICS - WHOLE EQUILIBRIUM: PLANET EARTH IS MOVING ALL THE TIME AT AN AMAZING SPEED. HUMAN BODY HAS A BUILT IN TIMING MECHANISM THAT OPERATES ON A 24 HOUR CYCLE THAT OPERATES A DAILY ROUTINE FROM REST TO ACTIVITY. THE TIME-KEEPING PROCESSES ARE AT WORK ALL THE TIME AND FORCE MAN TO MARK HIS TIME ON EARTH BY SUBMITTING TO THE ETERNAL LAW OF AGING. THE PHOTO IMAGE SHOWS ASTRONOMICAL CLOCK IN PRAGUE.

In my view, the terms rest, equilibrium, static equilibrium, and dynamic equilibrium cannot be applied to living bodies, and living systems. If the term Love is used to describe the Fundamental Force that acts upon living bodies, and living systems, the study of Life in Motion must be described as Whole Dynamics, and Whole Equilibrium.

Mental Health – The Importance of Logical and Rational Thinking

May is Mental Health Month, a time to shine a light on the importance of mental health to personal wellbeing and overcome reluctance to seeking help. Mental health is key to positive relationships and feelings of satisfaction and fulfillment in life. Mental health is also closely linked with physical health. Just as with physical health, mental health problems can be successfully treated.

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide.

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide

Man’s Physical Existence:

The subjective reality of man’s physical existence is conditioned by his physical, mental, social, moral, rational, and spiritual well-being.

If man is viewed as a multicellular human organism, we may have to ask ourselves the following question. Who or what is the subject who lives because of the functions of the trillions of cells? Man has to explore the biological basis for his existence in nature. The subjective reality of man’s physical existence is conditioned by his physical, mental, social, moral, rational, and spiritual well-being.

Mental Health – The Mind-Body Connection:

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide

Mental health is an important component of the total positive health when health is defined as not the mere absence of disease, but as a state of man’s physical, mental, social, moral, rational, and spiritual well-being.

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide

The man is conditioned to exist under the influence of a grand illusion such as the Sunrise and Sunset which regulates the biological rhythms. The man must find a rational basis for his physical existence as the realities of existing on the surface of a fast, spinning planet impose limitations on man’s cognitive abilities. In the final analysis, the man must face the challenges of living his mortal life finding solutions in a logical and rational manner. Physical conditions and ailments affect mental well-being. Mental health and well-being could have important consequences affecting the physical, and social well-being of the man and may even threaten his ability to maintain the biological integrity to survive as a human organism.

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide

Mental health is defined as the capacity in an individual to form harmonious relations with others and to participate in or contribute constructively to changes in the social environment. A living organism has a tendency to maintain normal internal stability by coordinated responses that automatically compensate for environmental changes. Claude Bernard explained the concept of ‘milieu interieur’ as that of “all the vital mechanisms, varied as they are, have only one object; that of preserving constant the conditions of life.” This concept of homeostasis, the maintenance of stability and equilibrium is applicable to man’s existence within a social group. A living thing maintains its individuality while being a member of a social group. Mental equilibrium, and mental tranquility is needed to maintain internal stability and for developing harmonious relationships with others present in the social environment. The different constituent parts of one’s personality should work in harmony so that an individual faces life situations rationally, successfully, and happily. The aim of the positive mental health care is to strengthen and develop well-integrated personality by influencing the behavioral pattern of the individual so that psychological situations are controlled by the individual in a logical, and rational manner. The individual while facing challenging life situations must arrive at solutions without disrupting the physical, mental, or social well-being. Mental health comprises the well-being of the intellectual and the emotional components of the mind. The intellectual breakdown of the individual deprives him of logical and rational thinking. The decisions taken will be faulty if the individual is not capable of logical and rational thinking. Such faulty decisions tend to affect the individual’s well-being. Intellectual breakdown is always accompanied by emotional breakdown. Emotional imbalance affects individual’s reactions. The individual may show inability to cope with life situations. The inability to withstand the strain and stress of the life situations could affect the physical well-being of the individual. The aim of this presentation is to understand the nature of man’s essence and existence in the physical world and to use that information to prevent the problem of suicide.

Stress and Stress Resistance:

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide. A person with a well-integrated personality acquires high resistance against stress and will be able to react healthily while confronting unwholesome life situations.

Resistance against mental and emotional breakdown is built up by the autonomic process of integration of personality. It is the normal process of the growth of personality within the group environs. An individual with a well-integrated personality acquires high resistance against difficult situations. The individual will be able to react healthily while confronting unwholesome life situations. A healthy mind and ability to be moulded in an integrated personality depends upon several factors including the physical, social, and psychological environment in which the individual is growing. It also depends upon the culture patterns and attitudes handed down from one generation to the next. From a very young age, integration of the personality proceeds along with intellectual development  and emotional moulding. Children must be given a better chance to develop integrated personalities with resistance against stress. Stress stimuli generate a chain of psycho-physical reactions strong enough to cause manifest effects. Personalities can be divided into 5 types according to their ability to resist strain and stress to master a given difficult life situation without a physical or mental breakdown. The same psychogenic stimulus may not cause similar reaction in all individuals. Each person reacts in a different manner according to the level of preformed stress resistance.

Group I: Highly stress resistant. These persons have a high level of preformed resistance. They also have the ability to develop resistance within a short time when exposed to stress stimuli. This group comprises of people with well-integrated personalities with dominant will power and power of endurance. They carry out the task even while under great stress without experiencing any negative consequences. They successfully master the stressful and difficult situation. These individuals live in good positive health and may not have a preexisting disease condition or a predisposition to such disease conditions that may undermine the physical and mental aspects of their health and well-being.

Group II: These persons have an average amount of preformed stress resistance. They overcome the stressful situation partially. In the attempt to master the stressful situation and to achieve success the person may suffer from precipitation of internal conditions such as hypertension, coronary artery disease and so on when other predisposing factors are also existing. However, the individual completes the task while facing the stressful stimulus. These persons perform better if they maintain good positive health.

Group III: These are persons with very low preformed stress resistance. They still have the ability to develop resistance on exposure to a prolonged stressful situation. While performing the task under a stressful situation, they may display psycho-somatic symptoms of the overt stress syndrome.

Group IV: These are persons with no preformed stress resistance. They have a very low ability to create resistance upon exposure to a stressful stimulus. These individuals are more likely to abandon the task which may have exposed them to a stressful experience. They would try to escape from stress rather than attempting to create resistance to stress stimuli. If they cannot escape, the lack of stress resistance is manifested in a variety of bizarre symptoms.

Group V: These are persons who are non-resistant to stress. They have no preformed stress resistance. They are not capable of favorably reacting to stress producing situation. Their biological existence could be threatened if they are exposed to a stressful situation. They may manifest an overt psychiatric illness apart from the inability to perform a task that could generate the stress reaction. Such individuals must be recognized in their childhood and they must be provided proper environment and psychological counseling.

The part played by stress varies in different individuals according to their basic personalities. The factors that impact the role of stress include environmental influences, community with its varied backgrounds of culture patterns and life habits. Pre-existent resistance against stress reduces the requirement of immediate psycho-physical response. If the problem of suicide is viewed as a stress reaction, prevention of suicide would require promoting the idea of stress resistance.

The Problem of Suicide:

A man’s right to life is a well-recognized principle. Very often, the law would defend a man’s right to life and would condone the act of killing if it is purely intended for purposes of self-defense. Does a man have the right to kill himself or renounce his life? Suicide is condemned by various societies. Major religions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam oppose the practice of suicide. Attempts to commit suicide are punishable by law in several countries. In the East, some cultural traditions have glorified acts of self-immolation or of renouncing life to resist enemy or to defend personal dignity, honor, or as an extreme measure of self-preservation.

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide:To defend her true nature, to preserve her essence, to resist the violation of her personal dignity and honor, Rani Padmini of Chittorgarh, India had courageously responded to a difficult and challenging life situation by an act of self-immolation. Her physical being was destroyed by the fire which she had willingly embraced and yet her spirit has survived. She has declared Victory over Death and she lives as an immortal person in the hearts of Indians and gives them a sense of Pride and Identity. Indian Culture and Tradition glorify the act of giving life to resist the Enemy.

In the West, attitudes have been slowly changing. The law may permit euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide under very special circumstances that affect the quality of life of an individual.

The Problem of Suicide in the Armed Forces:

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide. While serving as Medical Officer of the Indian Army Medical Corps, I provided Comprehensive Health Care to the troops and their families. The concept of Fitness to Fight includes both Physical Fitness and Mental Fitness. The goal is to keep the troops Fighting Fit at all times and under all conditions that may impose physical, psychological, social, or biological Stress. Indian Tradition has always paid attention to the well-being of all the aspects of health and it includes the Moral well-being, and the Spiritual well-being of the human being. During the years I had served, the incidence of Suicidal Death in the Indian Armed Forces was minimal.

To the members of the Armed Forces, the problem of suicide is of special significance. The Armed Forces as a military establishment has a very challenging and difficult duty to perform. It has to conserve man-power, keep up the morale of its troops, and retain its fighting abilities and capacities at all times, both during peace and during war. In ethical, and moral terms, Armed Forces believes in the act of killing and accepts the inevitability of causing deaths during the conduct of military operations. Armed Forces also actively prepares its members to overcome the fear of death and willingly exposes its members to the risks of getting killed both for the purposes of training and during actual combat situations. A soldier is not expected to kill himself to escape from the stress of his military duty and at the same time he must retain a very high level of motivation to kill the enemy and be willing to get killed in the performance of his task. Armed Forces selects its members with due care and chooses people with preformed stress resistance and further uses training as a tool to build up the stress resistance level of its members. The qualities of valor, duty, and honor define the essence and the spirit of service and Armed Forces members must exist to display their essence. I had participated in the military operations that were conducted in the Chittagong Hill Tracts during the Indo-Pak War of 1971 and I had encouraged men to overcome stress and had promoted the attitude of stress resistance. The Prevalence of Suicide:

Suicide has become much more common and it ranks as the second or third most common cause of death during adolescence. Suicide is also most pronounced in the older age. The rate of suicide is greatest between the ages of 35 and 75 years with a peak at about the age of 55 years. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, in the year 2007, suicide was the third leading cause of death for young people ages 15 to 24. Among ages 65 and older, of every 100,000 people, 14.3 died by suicide in the year 2007. This figure is higher than the national average of 11.3 suicides per 100,000 people in the general population.

The Warning Signs of Suicide:

Suicide constitutes the greatest risk in manic-depressive psychosis . During depression, or mania, the psychotic individual shows no insight into the abnormal nature of his mood. Depression is a major symptom of neurosis. Attacks of depression are characterized by signs that the person has deep feelings of melancholia (sadness). The sufferer typically looks unhappy, he feels hopeless and worthless, considers his life a torment. The depressed individual may experience a desire to punish himself by self-destruction and may directly or indirectly express such feelings or thoughts.

The American Society for Suicide Prevention posted these warning signs of suicide, and signs of depression :- Unrelenting low mood, pessimism, hopelessness, desperation, anxiety, psychic pain, inner tension, withdrawal, sleep problems, increased alcohol or other drug use, recent impulsiveness & taking unnecessary risks, threatening suicide or expression of a strong desire or wish to die, making a plan, giving away prized possessions, sudden or impulsive purchase of a firearm, obtaining other means of killing oneself such as poisons or medications, unexpected rage or anger. Changes in attitude, personal behavior could be always discovered and the individual who is at the risk of taking his life could be helped by simple observation.

The Causes of Suicide:

Current research nad thinking on suicide tend to view biological, psychological, social-structural, and social-situational factors as interacting with each other. Sociological theories of suicide usually emphasize the importance of either the social structure or the social situations, and the cultural pressures that individuals face. Psychological theories emphasize personality and cognitive factors.

The Sociological Theory of Suicide:

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide. Emile Durkheim (April 1858 to November 1917) is considered to be founder of the French School of Sociology.

Emile Durkheim in his paper ‘Le Suicide’ published in 1897, had tried to explain the apparent and purely individual decision to renounce life as a product of social forces or ‘social functionalism’. He had introduced the term ‘anomie’ or anomy. Suicide results from the breakdown of social standards that people need to regulate their behavior. A failed society produces in its members a sense of futility, lack of purpose, emotional emptiness, and despair. Anomie is a condition of relative normlessness of a society or social group. It may also mean a state of mind of a person who has no standards or sense of continuity or obligation to maintain his social bonds.

The Personality Theory of Suicide:

The desire to escape depression is the most frequently cited motivation to explain suicide. A personality factor could be involved in persons who believe that suicide constitutes a solution to the problems that they may be facing. The suicide victim’s ideas, beliefs, and ways of thinking have a causal relationship with an underlying personality. The way people view their problems can produce a greater or lesser tendency to depression and suicide.

The Quest for Authentic Existence:

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide: Philosopher, Nobel Laureate Jean Paul Sartre recommended the quest for authentic existence. He claimed that Suicide is absurd; it is absurd to get rid of what man is (etre-en-soi) as the true subjectivity of man (etre-pour-soi) disappears at the same time.

The Existentialists suggest that a person must find a situation in which he finds his true significance. In his Existentialist book, ‘Being and Nothingness’, philosopher and Nobel laureate Jean Paul Sartre divides the being (the existing reality) into two categories. One category is called being-in-itself (etre-en-soi) and it may describe the essence of the man, the sum of the intrinsic properties without which a thing would cease to be what it is. The second category is being-for-itself (etre-pour-soi) which comprises the being that has thoughts, feelings, and consciousness. The being-for-itself exists only when it is supported by the being-in-itself. Existentialists view man in terms of his existing thoughts and actions rather than in terms of his essence. According to Sartre, man’s own existence is always attempting to overcome a radical estrangement between man as the object of scientific study or man himself (etre-en-soi) and the subjectivity man knows in his thoughts and consciousness (etre-pour-soi). A man’s life in the world and his social transactions often conceal his true subjectivity. A sense of authentic existence is given to each person when he realizes his true subjectivity as a being that is conscious. Sartre claimed that suicide is a final act of absurdity. Suicide is absurd; for in getting rid of what man is (etre-en-soi), the true subjectivity of man (etre-pour-soi) also disappears at the same time.

The Prevention of Suicide:

There is no single approach that could be expected to succeed in substantially reducing the incidence of suicide. However, it will not be incorrect to claim that suicide is 100 percent preventable. The act of killing oneself or the action called suicide is totally preventable even when suicidal thoughts may not be preventable. If an individual’s mind is engaged in suicidal thoughts, it may not be possible to prevent those thoughts as the thoughts have already originated. I may succeed in preventing the individual from acting upon his suicidal thoughts. As long as man knows his thoughts, and would not let his thoughts overwhelm him, man can lead a normal life even when the mind explores ideas or thoughts about suicide.

Stay Informed and Stay Connected:

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide: Suicide is totally preventable if man seeks information about his essence and the connection that maintains his existence.

To help prevent suicide, I want to keep the man informed by sharing the following information, and the man must reflect upon the nature of the ‘connection’ that sustains man’s existence in the physical world.

Existence precedes Essence:

Existence is the state of being in the world of actuality. Essence is the most significant part of a thing’s nature, the sum of the intrinsic properties without which a thing would cease to be what it is. What is the fundamental nature or quality that is important or essential to define the true substance of the man? To understand human essence, a human being must be defined as a physical, mental, social, moral, and spiritual being. The subjective reality of man’s existence precedes and defines man’s essence. Existence is the first priority and must be preserved if man wants to define his nature or essence. To defend human existence, the physical, the mental, the social, the moral, and the spiritual well-being of man must be defended. As I have mentioned before, Indian tradition honors the man who may define his moral, or spiritual essence by putting an end to his physical existence. That is the only exception to the rule. The rule is; human existence does not depend upon the contents of man’s thoughts, feelings, desires, emotions, self-pride or ego. Man must always strive to rationally understand and evaluate his thoughts, feelings, desires, moods, emotions, and self-pride and should not act upon them to compromise his existence which is truly independent of such factors that impact human life. If I think that I must live for two hundred years, the thoughts about a long life span would not change the basis for my biological existence. Similarly, if I think that I must kill myself, the suicidal thought does not alter the basis for my biological existence. Suicidal thoughts do not describe human essence. A stress resistant individual would have the ability to investigate and reflect upon his suicidal thoughts and trace the reason for such thoughts. Stress is a problem that is associated with identity and individuality. The human person is a multicellular organism and man must know as to how the human organism establishes its identity and its individuality. While man seeks to define his essence in terms of his identity, the organism seeks to identify the individuality of the person whose existence the cells of his body tend to support.

Identity and Individuality – Two sides of the Same Coin:

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide. If Essence describes one face of the coin, Existence describes the second face of the same coin.
Mental Health and the prevention of suicide. If Identity is described by one side of the coin, Individuality is described by the second side of the same coin.

Mental health is related to the understanding of identity and individuality. We need to understand as to how identity and individuality is established in the multicellular human organism. My mind may define my identity in one manner and my human organism may establish my identity in a different manner. My mind may seek my identity from my thoughts, intellectual information & knowledge, emotions, and false ego. These four aspects of mental activities or functions are named in the Indian tradition as Manas, Buddhi, Chitta, and Ahamkara. These four mental activities are together named as Mano Chatushtayam or AntaHkaranam. Indian tradition asks people to recognize that the true identity of the individual does not pertain to these four aspects of human brain activities. The attempts by man to establish his identity on the basis of his morphological appearance, anthropometric data, biometrical information, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, language, or nation/ place of origin have no biological relevance in terms of supporting the existence of that human individual. Man exists as long as he has the ability to defend his individuality and maintains the integrity of the various physiological/metabolic activities that support the vital functions that impart the quality or condition called Life and keeps the organism living. In the human organism, this functional unity is maintained by an anatomical structure called Brain Stem. Man lives as an individual while the functions of the Brain Stem are intact and man dies if  functional activity is not found in the Brain Stem. Man can seek any kind of identity if he could maintain the individuality that the Brain Stem supports. Man is free to change his morphological appearance, can change his sexual identity, can change occupation, speak a different language, change his place of residence, practice a different religion or no religion, and can change the nature of his personal relationships with others while he maintains his individuality as a living organism. A man must be always conscious of his individuality which exists as a distinct entity from his mind and its mental activities. A man could be aware of the presence of suicidal thoughts engaged by his mind and yet maintain his separation from those thoughts. A man who seeks to exist as an individual will have no problem in resisting his thoughts, feelings, emotions, and mood changes. Such mental activities would not overwhelm or overpower the person. The problem of stress would not go away. However, man can become stress resistant. Such stress resistance from psychogenic stimuli is the key for prevention of suicide. The man who is facing challenging life situations represents just one side of the coin, and on the second side is represented the man who is maintains his individuality as a human organism. This separation of identity from individuality gives us the scope to make people stress resistant and to avoid the psychological compulsions of suicidal thoughts. When this separation is established, a man would not act in ways that could harm him in body or mind. To promote mental health, to prevent the consequences of mental disease, we need to give the tools to people to understand and define individuality and identity as two separate aspects of the same coin.

The ‘Self’ and the ‘Knowing-Self’:

Mental Health and the prevention of Suicide.Man could be divided into two categories; the ‘SELF’ represents man as the physical, mental, and social being; the ‘Knowing-Self’ represents man as the Moral and Spiritual being. The ‘Knowing-Self’ could be described as the function of the Reticular Formation of the Brain Stem.

I divide the living human being into two categories. The first category called ‘Self’ may be compared to Sartre’s Being-in-itself or etre-en-soi. The category ‘Self’ represents man’s state of existence as the physical, mental, and social being. Both Rene Descartes and Jean Paul Sartre divide man into two categories; 1. a physical or inert substance that has no thoughts, feelings, or consciousness, and 2. the mind that has thoughts, feelings, and is a conscious entity. Sartre had further named the second as the Being-for-itself or etre-pour-soi which is capable of making decisions and giving man the freedom to act according to his freewill. I do not subscribe to the views held by Descartes or Sartre and I would not seek separation of mind and body into two distinct categories. Man is a multicellular organism; the body cannot exist without a mind/brain and the mind/brain cannot exist without a body which has vital organs like lungs, heart, liver, and kidneys. The body and the mind/brain have to function together. I have also stated my view about consciousness. Please visit the page titled, “I am Consciousness, Therefore I am”

http://bhavanajagat.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/i-am-consciousness-therefore-i-am/

Consciousness is not an exclusive psychological function. Consciousness is a biological function that is shared by all living cells which display the attributes such as recognition, sensitiveness, coordination, cooperation, functional awareness, and awareness of external and internal environment and condition. The category that I call ‘Self’ represents the physical self with various organs and tissues and the mental self which represents mental activities associated with thinking, intellect/knowledge, emotions, feelings, moods, and ego or self-pride. The ‘Self’ may describe the essence or nature, or identity of the man in terms of the man’s own mental awareness and other people in his environment. The second category that I describe could be called the ‘Knowing-Self’. The ‘Knowing-Self’ is aware or conscious of its state and fact of biological existence. It may not always be aware of its external environment. A man who is in a  state of sound sleep, a man who is under the influence of drugs, chemicals, or pharmacological agents like anesthetics, or a person with a head injury loses some components of the function called consciousness. However, a man at all times of his living condition is conscious of his internal condition/environment, maintains the state of equilibrium or homeostasis, and supports the vital functions that define his individuality as an organism. The category called the ‘Knowing-Self’ is related to the individuality and in the multicellular human organism this function is served by the Reticular Formation of the Brain Stem which gives the person the ‘Capacity for Consciousness’. Man needs the ‘Capacity for Consciousness’ to compose the ‘Contents of Consciousness’. In the absence of the ‘Capacity for Consciousness’, man has no ‘Contents of Consciousness’ and could be declared dead if the function called ‘Capacity for Consciousness’ could not be sustained. The ‘Capacity for Consciousness’ is essential for man’s biological existence. The ‘Capacity for Consciousness’ is required for man to exist as a moral and spiritual being. Man exists with an intrinsic ability to discern right from wrong, and exists because of his spiritual nature which gives him the ability to acquire energy for his various metabolic, living functions. The category called ‘Self’ may experience all the difficult, and challenging situations posed by life, and the category called the ‘Knowing-Self’ is not subject to these sensory or mental experiences that impact the ‘Self’.

The God Connection – Stay Connected:

Mental Health – The Importance of Logical and Rational Thinking

Man must recognize that his biological existence depends upon energy acquisition. Man leads energy-dependent existence and must acquire energy from external sources right from the beginning of his life journey, from the moment of conception. Man does not acquire this energy because of his intellectual effort, or acquired knowledge. The ‘egg cell’ that is fertilized is conscious of its energy dependence and it implants itself into the tissues of the mother who may not be mentally aware of this process called implantation by which the human embryo starts deriving its energy from its mother. This embryo grows and develops into a complex, multicellular organism and continues to derive energy from external sources. This ‘Connection’ between the energy-seeker, and the energy-provider could be called ‘God Connection’. Man has no ability to establish this kind of energy acquisition for his survival. If Sun is viewed as the source of extraterrestrial or Cosmic Power, the Solar Energy is trapped by chloroplasts found in the cells of all green plants. This energy is further made available to man by the presence of intracellular organelles called mitochondria which are described as the powerhouses of the cells. Man has no direct control on the nature of this ‘Connection’ and its operation. Man simply exists as there is a Provider for his energy requirements. In good health, or ill-health, under all circumstances and conditions, and during all the stages of his mortal existence, man needs this grace, mercy, and compassion to keep himself alive. This is a supernatural mechanism, or a ‘God Connection’ that supports man while he leads his energy dependent existence. Man who experiences this compassion, mercy, and grace that is sustaining his life would derive a sense of joy and experiences the condition called true happiness. A man who has discovered true happiness cannot experience a mood called depression. It is really hard to kill oneself while the man is connected to a source of Happiness. Man must experience this sense of Joy and Happiness and realize its uplifting power to alter any depressed feeling or mood. If pain is an inevitable aspect of human life, compassion is also an inescapable aspect of human existence. If pain is true, compassion is also equally true. I invite people to find Compassion, Mercy, and the Grace of the Divine Providence in their lives. It would be irrational or absurd to break the God Connection by the act called Suicide.

Look Before You Leap – What is Prudence?

Bharat Darshan Asks You to Look Before You Leap. What is Prudence?

Prudence has a role in all the concerns of life. The right end, whether that be the goal of personal happiness or the common good of society, or the performance of one’s duties, cannot be achieved unless the means to it are rightly chosen. Prudence can be acquired through learning to take sufficient counsel and to deliberate enough before taking any action. The habit of prudent action can be gained by a remembrance of the past experience, by the understanding of what is present, and providing for the future by resolving thoughts and making decisions and commanding their execution.

Lord Hanuman’s Leap – Prudence is Indispensable to Good Human Life

Lord Hanuman’s Leap of Faith – A Lesson in the virtue of Prudence

The Indian epic poem of ‘RAMAYANA‘ describes life journey of Lord Rama, the Prince of the Ayodhya Kingdom who was exiled to live in the forest. The story narrates the abduction of His wife, Princess Sita. While searching the forest to find Sita, Lord Rama befriends the ‘VANARA’ or Monkey Forces of Kishkindha Kingdom. The Vanara King Sugriva in an effort to find Sita dispatched his forces in all directions with very strict orders to report back within a month. The search party that proceeded southwards eventually reach the southern sea-shore at the end of their appointed time for reporting back to the King. While they were feeling anxious about their delayed mission, they receive a vital clue about Sita held captive in the island kingdom of Lanka ruled by the demon King Ravana. The search party now gets fearful about the course of action they have to choose. They seek counsel from the eldest member of their party. They decide against returning home with secondhand information about Princess Sita’s whereabouts. After due deliberation, they choose to physically verify the accuracy of the information about Princess Sita’s presence in the island. The action that they selected requires crossing the sea, entering an enemy kingdom, searching diligently tightly guarded places, and returning safely crossing the sea one more time. In the context of this story, as there is no land bridge to reach the island, the safest way to get there is to jump across the sea in one leap. The party’s elder leader recommends entrusting Hanuman with this difficult and challenging mission. The choice of Hanuman is prudent because of His strength, courage, intelligence, and other special abilities like changing of body size at His discretion.

The story describes that Hanuman stood on a hill by the name of Mahendra to gain advantage for the proposed leap. He looks at the sea and directs His mind towards the island of Lanka. He is sure about His devotion to Lord Rama and He is certain about His desire to fulfil Lord Rama’s purpose. He said to Himself: “I shall search and find Sita. I shall fly in the sky and cross the sea.” However, He undertakes this mission with a sense of absolute modesty and humility. He offers worship and prayers to God and to all creation before He leaps into the sky with a roar of triumph. With that leap, Hanuman’s role in the story of Ramayana reaches heroic proportions and continues to be very exalted till the end of the story.

The Quality of Prudence

Bharat Darshan Asks You to Look Before You Leap. What is Prudence?

The quality of prudence is most concerned with action. Prudence is a product of experience and a possession of reason. The maxims of prudence are counsel, deliberation, and judgment. A prudent man knows how to deliberate or calculate well about things to be done. He evaluates the negative as well as the positive consequences of his actions. Prudence also shapes the character of the person. Use of unjust or dishonest means to achieve the end or goal set for oneself is not prudence. ‘ One cannot have prudence unless one has the moral virtues; since prudence is the right reason about things to be done, to which end man is rightly disposed by moral virtue’. The choice of the best means is as important as the election of the right end. The clever thief who plans and executes a successful robbery exhibits no prudence but its counterfeit called cunning. The rightness of the means requires not merely that they are adapted to an end, but that the end itself be right.

Whole Dude – Whole Sacrifice – Tibetan Martyr’s Day

April 29 – Tibetan Martyr’s Day – Tibet’s Road to Martyrdom

Whole Dude – Whole Sacrifice: Tibetan Martyr’s Day.

The term ‘Martyr’ is related to Greek word ‘martys’ which means a witness, Latin word ‘memor’ which means mindful, and Sanskrit word ‘smarati’ which means (he) remembers. Hence, ‘Martyr’ as a person has to be described by sharing as to what that person witnessed, as to what he(or she) is mindful, and as to what he remembers. Martyr is a person who dies as consequence of exposure to long-continued suffering, torment, or torture. Martyr is a person who remembers his experience or experience of others who suffer and suffered. Martyr is a person who chooses to suffer or die rather than give up his faith or principles. Martyr is a person who assumes an attitude of self-sacrifice or suffering in order to arouse feelings in others for his faith or belief.

The news media often use the term “SELF-IMMOLATION” which usually means burning oneself in a public place, an act of suicide that attracts public attention. I understand ‘Martyrdom’ as principled resistance to injustice. Man is a Moral Being and by nature man cannot tolerate unfairness and unjust actions that he witnesses or experiences, or remembers. Tibetans are asking for fairness, justice and are opposing suppression, and oppression imposed by Red China’s prolonged or long-continued illegal, immoral military occupation of their Land. These Tibetan Martyrs arouse feelings in the hearts of others who come to know about their actions of Martyrdom. The feeling I experience is, Tibetan faith, belief in Freedom is their Natural Right, and no power on Earth can take away their Natural Right to be free in a Land where they are born with no shackles.

IMMOLATIONS ARE JUST ONE SIGN OF TENSIONS OVER COMMUNIST RULE

By BARBARA DEMICK

By the time Dongtuk arrived, the body was gone. A pack of matches lay on the ground, the only sign of the horror that had taken place. Dongtuk picked them up and fingered them.
About an hour earlier, one of the teenager’s best friends had siphoned gasoline from a motorcycle, swallowed part of it and doused himself with the rest. Then he had set himself on fire.
Standing at the scene near Kirti Monastery, where both had been apprentice monks, Dongtuk, then 17, considered the pack of remaining matches.
“At that point, I felt no doubt at all,” he said. “I wanted to die myself.”

Dongtuk’s friend, Phuntsog, was among the first of more than 140 ethnic Tibetans who have taken their lives through self-immolation, an act designed to telegraph the desperation of a people so marginalized as to have nothing left to lose.

Six million Tibetans live in China, many chafing under the stifling rule of the Communist Party.

Dongtuk, a Tibetan monk now living in Dharamsala, India, considered self-immolation after his best friend committed suicide by that method, as many Buddhists have in acts of protest against the Chinese government.

In few places are the tensions so palpable, or the resistance so stubborn, as in Aba, known as Ngaba in Tibetan. With only 65,000 people, Aba has been an outsized source of trouble for the Chinese Communist Party for almost as long as the party has been in existence.

To avoid outside scrutiny, Chinese authorities restrict visits by foreigners to Aba unless chaperoned by the government. Nevertheless, a reporter from the Los Angeles Times has visited several times in the last few years, trying to understand what made the outwardly tranquil town such an engine for unrest.

Tibetans complain that they live, essentially, as second-class citizens in their own land. Their language, culture and faith are all under pressure. They attend substandard schools and, if they manage to get an education, lack the same job opportunities as the Han, the Chinese majority enjoy.

“The town is now packed with Chinese — the vegetable sellers, the shopkeepers, the restaurant owners. They don’t speak Tibetan at all,” said Dolma, 18, whose parents are farmers and, who, like many Tibetans, uses only one name. “My parents can barely speak Chinese. When they go to town to buy things, they can barely communicate.”
Aba is in China’s Sichuan province, outside what is known as the Tibet Autonomous Region but inextricably part of what Tibetans consider their homeland. The 10-hour drive from the provincial capital, Chengdu, follows winding canyons that eventually open up, at 12,000 feet, to grassland under a horizon-to-horizon stretch of Himalayan sky.
Aba is a special place. Three generations have suffered from the excesses of the Chinese Communists, and their attitudes have been passed down from generation to generation. – Kirti Rinpoche, the head of the Kirti Monastery who lives in exile in India

The town is composed of one long road, officially Route 302, although Tibetans now call it the “Martyr Road.” It is lined on both sides with red-metal shuttered storefronts — tea shops, shoe stores, businesses selling cellphones. Tibetan men wear long cloaks over their jeans; the women favor ankle-length skirts and floppy hats, with glossy black braids that cascade down their backs, and an occasional flash of coral jewelry.
Rising up like bookends on each side of Aba are gold-roofed Buddhist monasteries with white stupas, or prayer towers, that loom over the skyline. The largest, Kirti, is now known as the place people go to set themselves on fire.

After any self-immolation or protest, Aba is transformed into a military garrison. Checkpoints seal off travel in and out of town. Out come the security forces: the People’s Liberation Army and the Chinese paramilitary forces known as wujing in khaki uniforms, the SWAT teams in black and the regular police in blue.
Along with the riot shields, guns and batons, they carry another essential tool: a fire extinguisher.

Huge new compounds girded by barbed wire house the police and courts. In a 2011 analysis, Human Rights Watch reported government spending on security in Aba had increased 619% between 2002 and 2009.

“You always feel like you’re being watched,” said Dawa, a widow in her 50s who lived in Aba near the Kirti Monastery until four years ago. “I was never interested in politics. I never get involved. But at the back of my mind, I never felt relaxed. I always thought I could be arrested any moment.”

Aba has a long history as a town of troublemakers. For centuries, it was ruled by tribal kings who reported neither to the Tibetan government in Lhasa nor to the Chinese. In the 1930s, Aba was the first place where Tibetans collided with Mao Tse-tung’s Red Army, which was fleeing Chiang Kai-shek’s Nationalists in what became known as the “Long March.”

Aba became a center of resistance in 1959, and nomads fanned out into the mountains, launching guerrilla raids on Chinese installations with ancient hunting rifles or spears fashioned by local blacksmiths. In 1966, Mao’s Cultural Revolution brought more violence. Monasteries were turned into warehouses or government buildings or demolished. Monks were forced to shed their robes and live lives for which they were ill-prepared.

The terror ended with Mao’s death in 1976. The Chinese government started rebuilding the monasteries. With the country’s economic opening, Tibetans saw their standard of living rise along with that of others in China.

Aba became famous in the 1980s for exporting entrepreneurs, who spread out across China and beyond, selling Tibetan products such as wool and medicinal herbs and introducing Tibetans to blue jeans, coffee and the Sony Walkman.

Even as they prospered, the Tibetans couldn’t help but notice the Chinese were getting even richer. And the divide grew as the government began denying travel permits to Tibetans.

“The Han people have all the advantages. All the factories are located in Han areas. We don’t have passports so we can’t travel across borders,” complained one envious businessman.
Yangchen, a rail-thin Tibetan woman in her early 30s pushing a wheelbarrow of concrete blocks up a staircase, said she was unable to find anything other than manual labor despite being able to speak excellent Chinese. Even with that, she said, the going rate for such work for Tibetans, about $16 a day, was half of what ethnic Chinese are paid.
“Most of the businesses are owned by Han Chinese,” she added, “so they naturally prefer to hire other Chinese.”

The undercurrent of unhappiness with Chinese rule exploded on a Sunday morning in March 2008, in the courtyard in front of the Kirti Monastery, where monks were conducting prayers for the upcoming Tibetan New Year.

In the middle of the chants, one monk started speaking about independence. People shouted along, raising their fists in the air, ignoring the entreaties of older monks. It degenerated into a riot, with Tibetans hurling rocks at the police and trashing Chinese-owned shops, including the fanciest department store, which happened to be owned by a former People’s Liberation Army soldier.

Chinese troops used tear gas and smoke bombs, then switched to live ammunition.
At least 18 Tibetans were killed, including a 16-year-old schoolgirl. It was a galvanizing moment for a small town in which almost everybody knew somebody who died.
Dhukar, now 18, a slip of a teenager with a ponytail and chipped nail polish, was a student at a Chinese-language public school and so pro-Chinese that she could have been a poster child for the Communist Party. She spoke Chinese better than Tibetan, rarely wore traditional clothing and loved the war movies on television with the matinee idols playing Chinese soldiers.
Watching the riot from a second-floor tea shop overlooking the main street, Dhukar was horrified to see Tibetans throwing rocks at the soldiers. “I thought: ‘These soldiers are here to protect us,'” she said.

But she found out later that three young people she knew had been shot, two fatally. That night the Chinese television news “talked only about Tibetans throwing rocks, nothing about Tibetans getting shot,” she said. “I knew it was lies and that I couldn’t believe Chinese television again.”

Dongtuk was a 14-year-old monk at Kirti at the time. After the protests, the monastery was placed under siege, with barracks built on the grounds. The school he had attended was closed. Police conducted regular inspections, searching for banned photos of the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader. A closed-circuit camera was erected directly outside Dongtuk’s window.
“It was really a period of crisis,” he recalled.

The first self-immolation took place in February 2009. Religious authorities were threatening to prohibit the monastery from observing a scheduled prayer ceremony, especially infuriating one monk in his late 20s who set himself on fire.

That monk, named Tapey, didn’t die, but was left badly disabled and in police custody. There were no more self-immolations in Aba until 2011, when Dongtuk’s friend, Phuntsog, killed himself.

Dongtuk explained why he nearly followed suit.
“I thought somehow if I self-immolated, the news would spread overseas and it would gain support for Tibetans, and in the end it would help people live happy and peaceful lives,” he said.

Although he ultimately held back, many others didn’t. Among them were Dongtuk’s half-brother and Phuntsog’s brother, both of whom later burned themselves to death.
The most recent self-immolator in Aba was a 45-year-old barley farmer with seven children. He set himself on fire April 16 in the courtyard of his home so that firefighters would not be able to reach him before he perished.

Many of those who died were the descendants of Tibetans who had fought the Chinese in earlier generations. Phuntsog, 20, was the grandson of a resistance leader who fought the Chinese Communists in the late 1950s.

“Aba is a special place. Three generations have suffered from the excesses of the Chinese Communists, and their attitudes have been passed down from generation to generation,” said Kirti Rinpoche, the head of the Kirti Monastery, in an interview this year in India, where he lives in exile.

Out of 140 self-immolations in the last several years, more than a third took place in and around Aba. Hundreds of Aba residents have been arrested — and at least a dozen are still in prison — on homicide charges for helping self-immolators. These include shopkeepers who sold gasoline and people who helped with Buddhist funeral rites.

A 29-year-old homemaker, Dolmatso, was arrested in 2013 and held for more than 18 months on charges of being an accessory to murder, according to her brother. She had been on her way to pick up her daughter from school when a man burned himself.

“My sister didn’t know this man,” said Kunchok Gyatso, a Tibetan activist who works with an association of former political prisoners in Dharamsala, India. “Tibetans tried to load his corpse into a truck so that they could do a Buddhist funeral. She was helping.”

One result of the recent turmoil has been growing self-awareness of Tibetan identity. Unable to directly confront the Chinese, Tibetans have begun low-key initiatives to preserve their language, clothing and Buddhist traditions.

On June 21, when the Dalai Lama turned 80 on the Tibetan calendar, Aba residents dressed in Tibetan clothing to show their respect.
Tibetans in Aba are trying to bolster their mother tongue by banishing Chinese from their vocabulary. A computer is now a tsekor instead of a diannao, and a cellphone is a kapor, not a
shouji.

“We keep a jar around so that if you say a Chinese word by mistake, you pay a fine,” usually about 15 cents, said a cultural activist in his 30s who asked not to be quoted by name because he feared Chinese authorities. “Then we will take the money in the jar and go out and have a meal together.”

Tibetans say the Chinese government has been paying more attention to the needs of Tibetans since the immolations began. Photos of the Dalai Lama were put back last year inside Kirti Monastery and are gradually making a reappearance on shop walls.

A few weeks ago, the prefecture to which Aba belongs organized a trip for journalists to see government-built housing for Tibetan nomads. Reporters were brought to the spacious home of a former nomad who had been the Communist Party secretary for his village and shown a guesthouse displaying large photographs of Mao and the late paramount leader Deng Xiaoping.

Last summer, many nomads could be seen pitching white waterproof canvas tents distributed free by the local government, replacing the bulkier traditional tents made of black felt. The local government also gave out lumber to build pens for yaks and freed up grant money for Tibetans to make additions to their homes.

A 21-year-old college student, Roumo, visiting her nomadic parents during school break, showed off her brand-new iPhone 5, and a solar panel powering a new flat-screen television.
“Life has changed so much. We have vehicles, phones, television, electricity,” said Roumo.

Said another Tibetan woman, Lhamo, a semi-literate homemaker in her 30s: “I don’t approve of self-immolation, but I have to admit we are getting more from the government. The self-immolators did make sacrifices to improve our lives.”
Still, she said many of her neighbors remain desperately poor.

“In my village, people eat nothing but tsampa,” she said, referring to roasted barley, a Tibetan staple. “They plant barley and before it comes in, they don’t have much to eat.”
And even among those who are doing well, resentments sometimes simmer. Tenzin is a middle-aged businessman who has a considerable real estate portfolio, drives an imported SUV and carries a recent model iPhone.

“I have everything,” he said. “Everything but my freedom.”

By MEG KNEAFSEY

On the 27th August 2015, Tashi Kyi – a Tibetan mother of four in her mid-fifties – set herself on fire in protest of China’s policies on demolition and relocation of housing. Tashi was described
as a “generous Buddhist” who was “devoted to her family”. Yet her protest was
only part of a larger resistance against Chinese control of Tibet, a plight that appears forgotten by the international media.

Since 2009, there have been 138 reported
cases of self-immolations in Tibet. Despite that, the 2008 Tibetan protests of
Chinese rule in the area resulted in limited international attention and over 80 heads of states still attended the 2008 Beijing
Olympic Opening Ceremony, despite calls for a boycott. Tibetans have subsequently begun to resort to more extreme methods of gaining attention.

By burning themselves alive, these Tibetans – often Buddhist monks and nuns, although many are teenagers – hope to attract international recognition. They are fighting against what the Dalai Lama has described
as “cultural genocide” by Chinese occupants. The area formally known as ‘Tibetan Autonomous Region’ has been incorporated into the People’s Republic of China since 1950.

Whilst there are allegations of torture, for many it is the cultural and religious oppression that has truly affected Tibetans’ lives and spurred their
drastic attempts of resistance. Free Tibet suggests that China has closed 99% of Tibetan monasteries, jailed thousands of monks and banned images of the Dalai
Lama. Within schools, students are supposedly taught in Chinese and it is argued that many young people are losing the Tibetan ‘way of life’. While China has referred
to the protesters as “terrorists”, human rights groups and the Free Tibet movement claim that there are considerable human rights violations throughout the area that legitimize their resistance. There is evidence of political, religious, and cultural oppression, as well as ethnic discrimination and environmental damage. There is little surprise, therefore, that in 2014 US think tank Freedom House named Tibet among the 12
worst countries in the world on the scale of the denial of freedom.

The facts of the situation are still disputed on both sides, with vocal resistance groups existing only outside Tibet itself. It is claimed that since Chinese occupation, over one million Tibetans have died.

After an unsuccessful uprising in 1959 – the first of four major uprisings over the course of Chinese control – the Dalai Lama has lived in exile in Dharamsala, India. However, many Tibetans see the Dalai Lama as not only their spiritual leader but true political leader.

The reasons for China’s occupation are widely disputed. Independence groups argue that the allure of Tibet’s natural resources, such as its large fresh water supply and abundance of oil and natural gases, brought in Chinese troops. Conversely, there is historical evidence of Chinese control of Tibet as far back as the 13th century, allowing China to make the argument that they are simply ‘reclaiming’ their right in the 1950s.

China also argues that there has been a positive impact on Tibetans’ lives due to Chinese control such as longer lifespans and a higher number of children in school. Furthermore, China maintains that Tibet is internally autonomous due to ethnic-Tibetan, Losang Jamcan, ruling as chairman of the region. The arguments surrounding Tibetan independence are long and complex. However, it is the lack of international dialogue and awareness of the situation that is alarming. Perhaps as the issue does not affect those outside Tibet, it is not deemed important enough for international discussion. Yet it is clear that there are a large number of individuals resorting to drastic actions. Surely this warrants the belief that there is still a conflict of interest? It is now up to the international community to judge for themselves which side they are on.

SHAHANSHAH, CYRUS II EMPEROR OF PERSIA

A Shahanshah’s Edict – Rebuild the Temple, the House of God in Jerusalem

Cyrus, the founder of Achaemenid Persian empire and ruled it from 549 BC to 529 BC. The conquest of the great and ancient city of Babylon in 539 BC made Cyrus the ruler of a vast domain from the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Indus river of India in the east. Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia destroyed Jerusalem in 586 BC and forced the Jews to live in exile.

Cyrus is famous in the Books of Old Testament of Holy Bible for freeing the Jews held captive in Babylonia. Cyrus had allowed more than 40,000 Jews to return to their Promised Land in 537 BC. He had asked them to take back the gold and silver utensils that were looted from the House of God in Jerusalem.

Prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah foretold the destruction of Jerusalem, captivity of Jews and then release with the coming of Cyrus. He is remembered in the Cyrus Legend first recorded by Xenophon, a Greek soldier and author of Cyropaedia. Greek historian Herodotus has described Cyrus as tolerant, ideal monarch, Father of Persian people and as the Liberator of Jews held captive in Babylonia. Cyrus had conquered Lydia, Syria, Babylon, and Palestine. In the year 1971, Iran celebrated the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of the monarchy by Cyrus. He is glorified in the Books of The Old Testament.

This is what Cyrus King of Persia says;

“The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for Him at Jerusalem in Judah. Anyone of His people among you- may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem in Judah and build the temple of the LORD, the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem.”

CYRUS CYLINDER

Cyrus Cylinder was discovered in the foundations of Esagila Temple, Babylon. A Shahanshah’s Edict – Rebuild the Temple, the House of God in Jerusalem

A clay cylinder was discovered in the foundations of the Esagila temple dedicated to chief Babylonian god Marduk. In cuneiform script, the following statement was inscribed on the clay cylinder:

….I am Cyrus, King of the world. When I entered Babylon…. I did not allow anyone to terrorise the land….I kept in view the needs of people and all its sanctuaries to promote their well-being…. I put an end to their misfortunes. The Great God has delivered all the lands into my hand; the lands that I have made to dwell in a peaceful habitation….

The Legacy of Emperor Cyrus

A Shahanshah’s Edict – Rebuild the Temple, the House of God in Jerusalem

He was more than a great conqueror who founded an empire. He is best remembered for his unprecedented tolerance and magnanimous attitude towards those he vanquished. He showed a great forbearance and respect towards the religious beliefs and cultural traditions of other races. His policy of religious toleration and contribution to the rebuilding of several nations’ temples earned him the homage of all the people whom he had ruled.

In the Book of Isaiah, chapter 45, verses 1 to 6, Cyrus is praised as the ‘ANOINTED OF THE LORD’. The Greeks whom he conquered regarded him as ‘Law-Giver’. The Babylonians treated him as ‘The Liberator’. The Iranians regard him as ‘The Father’. He is considered to be upright, generous, and benevolent.

The Holy Book of Quran in Surah Al-Kahaf, verse 18 referred to a person known as “ZUL-QARNAIN” or “DHUL-QARNAYN”, a person wearing a crown of two horns like a ram. Cyrus, a Zoroastrian by faith, promised not to force any person to change his religion and faith and guaranteed religious freedom for all.

Rebuild BETH-EL, House of God at Temple Mount, Jerusalem:

A Shahanshah’s Edict – Rebuild the Temple, the House of God in Jerusalem

The House of God, the Temple in Jerusalem acts as the figurative “footstool” of God’s presence in the physical world.

A Shahanshah’s Edict – Rebuild the Temple, the House of God in Jerusalem

The First Temple was built by King Solomon in 957 BC. It stood for about 375 to 410 years. The Babylonians destroyed it in 586 BC. The Second Temple was completed during 516 BC and the Roman Emperor POMPEY desecrated it in 63 BC. King Herod had renovated it in 19 BC. The Roman troops of General TITUS totally destroyed it in 70 CE. Just the Western outer wall of the Temple still stands today. An Islamic shrine, the Dome of Rock was built on the site of the Temple Mount in late 7th century CE, and the al-Aqsa Mosque also stands in the temple courtyard.

A Shahanshah’s Edict – Rebuild the Temple, the House of God in Jerusalem

The Jews envision the construction of the Third Temple in Jerusalem. The building of religious shrines on top of the ruined monuments of other faiths causes problems for rebuilding the Temple Mount. This is a problem that Indians have encountered repeatedly in all of their holy places such as Varanasi, Mathura, and Ayodhya.

A Shahanshah’s Edict – Rebuild the Temple, the House of God in Jerusalem

If Shahanshah Cyrus is asked to decide on the religious dispute between Muslims and Jews, he would direct us to rebuild the original House of God or Beth-El at Temple Mount in Jerusalem and to restore the faith and the worship of God that it represents. Let us rebuild ‘House of God’ and let its foundations be laid where it belongs.

The remnants of Second Temple, the Temple renovated by King Herod. The First Temple was built by King Solomon. The most holy site in Judaism is known as the Western Wall or the Wailing Wall. Bangladesh declared its independence from Pakistani rule on March 25, 1971 but the Liberation was accomplished on 16th December, 1971 at 4.30 p.m. when the Pakistani army commander Lt General. A. A. K. Niazi signed the surrender document before people of Dhaka (Dacca) at Dhaka’s ‘Racecourse Maidan’ which is now known as ‘Suhrawardy Udyan’.

Major General J F R Jacob, Chief of Staff of Indian Eastern Army had drafted the “instrument of surrender.” Earlier on that day of surrender, General Jacob had arrived to meet General Niazi who had actually wanted to discuss “only a ceasefire under the U.N. “The credit of arranging this modern history’s only public surrender by a vanquished force goes to this Jewish General of Indian Army. General Jacob’s Hebrew name is Yaacov Rafael, a ‘Baghdadi’ Jew and the family had arrived in Calcutta about 200 years ago.

About 36 years after the surrender ceremony, a 11-member delegation of Indian war veterans led by General Jacob were invited to Bangladesh to witness the 37th Independence Day celebrations on March 26, 2008. Some of the historical events are described by General Jacob in his book titled ‘SURRENDER AT DACCA: BIRTH OF A NATION’ and the book was published by Manohar Publishers in the year 2001.

It is very interesting to note that General Jacob in an interview at Dacca had given some appreciation to the military operation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and the Liberation of Chittagong by Forces which operated outside the jurisdiction of Indian Army’s Eastern Command.

General Jacob joined the British Indian Army (Artillery) in 1942 because of his concerns about the persecution of Jews by the Nazis. Very interestingly, his first assignment during the World War II was in Iraq from where his ancestors had migrated to India. He had also served in Africa, Burma, and Sumatra during World War II. He had retired in 1978 after serving as the Commander of India’s Eastern Army. He was instrumental in saving the lives of many Pakistani service personnel, civilian staff, paramilitary forces and their families by successfully negotiating the modalities of the surrender at Dacca. The surrender had ensured that the prisoners would be treated with Dignity and Respect that they are entitled to under the Geneva Conventions of 1948. It guaranteed the safety and wellbeing of all who surrender. Much attention was given to safely remove the non-combatants and the soldiers were particularly protected from reprisal attacks by the victorious Bangla freedom fighters (Mukti Bahini).

As we moved in, it did not take too long for an alert enemy patrol to spot our movement and they opened an intense barrage of gun fire. Captain. Kurien quickly dug up a trench and had asked me to take cover till things cool down. It was a very dark night, we responded with great restraint, and as we waited with our own attack plan, we allowed the enemy patrol to think that we were beaten back. As I was in good company, I could totally focus on my primary task of giving medical support to the men without any other concern about my personal safety. In the same operational zone, several miles away, a doctor had a very rough experience for lack of proper understanding of his role and for not trusting the men whom he was to support.

Having taken part in the military operation of 1971 to Liberate Bangladesh, I would give credit to the Indian Air Force who clinched the victory and the surrender by the Pakistani forces.Indian ground forces could rapidly advance towards Dacca and Chittagong as they never came under an air strike by Pakistan.General Jacob in his book had claimed that the Eastern Army had prepared a better operational plan but the facts are the ground assault can not proceed without air support and the coordinated support for the attack is planned at the Army Headquarters in New Delhi rather than at Kolkata where the Eastern Army Command is based. Indian Air Force dominated the air space and they were able to hit any enemy target with great precision and with the display of their air superiority and power, Pakistani General Niazi had no chance of protecting his ground forces and took the wise course of ending the battle and over 93,000 people eventually returned to Pakistan.

On the morning of 16 December, Manekshaw phoned me and said, “Jake, go and get a surrender.” I asked him if I should negotiate the surrender on the basis of the draft sent to him some days earlier. He replied, “You know what to do; just go.”

I then mentioned that Niazi had invited me for lunch, and informed Aurora. I met Mrs Bhanti Aurora outside the office, and she told me that she was going to Dacca as her place was beside her husband. I returned to Aurora and asked him if he was taking his wife with him. He replied in the affirmative. I said it was risky taking her there, to which he replied that it would be my responsibility to ensure her safety!

I proceeded to Dacca accompanied by a staff officer. I took my draft of the Instrument of Surrender, which was yet to be confirmed by Army HQ. I changed helicopters at Jessore to save refuelling time. An officer ran up to me handing over a signal message from Army HQ. I expected that the message would confirm the draft I was carrying with me. It read: “Government of India has approved of General Jacob having lunch with Gen. Niazi.” I proceeded on to Dacca.

On landing at Dacca, I was met by the representatives of the UN, Marc Henry, Kelly, and others. They told me that they were accompanying me to take over the government and to arrange the withdrawal of the Pakistan military, paramilitary, and Pakistani civilians. I thanked them but declined their offer. Fighting was going on in Dacca between the Mukti Bahini and the Pakistan Army.

The Pakistanis had sent me a staff car. The chief of staff of Pakistan’s Eastern Command accompanied me in the car to the headquarters of Eastern Command. We had barely proceeded a few hundred yards when a group of freedom fighters blocking the road fired at the car. I jumped out exclaiming “Indian army”.

Seeing my olive green Indian Army uniform they stopped firing but wanted to kill the Pakistani Chief of Staff. I reasoned with them, trying to persuade them to allow us to proceed. They reluctantly agreed.

I entered Niazi’s office. Present there were the seniormost Pakistani army, navy, and air force officers, as also some other senior military officers. I was shocked to see Maj. Gen. Nagra seated on the sofa with his arm around Niazi engaged in cracking bawdy jokes in Punjabi. Siddiq Salik in his book Witness to Surrender (1977) wrote that the jokes were unprintable!

We had moved Nagra just a few days earlier to replace Maj Gen Gurbax Singh, who was in command of the force that was moving to capture Dacca, but was wounded. Nagra had known Niazi from before when he was posted as military advisor to our High Commission in Islamabad.

The ceasefire had taken effect at 1700 hours on 15 December. On the morning of 16 December, Nagra, who was some 30 miles outside Dacca with elements of 95 Mountain Brigade and 2 Para, well after the ceasefire went into force, sent a message to Niazi to send his representative. Niazi was at a loss to understand this message as he was expecting me. Nagra, flying a white flag, was escorted to Niazi’s headquarters. I saw the three jeeps with white flags parked outside.

I called Nagra outside, gave him a sharp dressing down for disgraceful conduct unbecoming of a general officer. I told him to send some troops into Dacca, to the airfield and Intercontinental Hotel to protect the officials there. I also instructed him to arrange a table and two chairs at the Race Course for signature of the Instrument of Surrender, as also to provide a detachment for a joint guard of honour. I told him to leave behind a jeep for me.

I re-entered the building. The draft Instrument of Surrender was read out. Niazi, with tears rolling down his cheeks, said: “Who said I am surrendering? You have only come to discuss a ceasefire and withdrawal as proposed by me.” The service chiefs present also voiced their objections. Rao Farman Ali objected to surrendering to a “Joint Command”.

Time was running out so I called Niazi aside. I told him that if he did not surrender I could not take responsibility for the safety of their families and ethnic minorities but if he did I would ensure their protection. I asked him to reconsider, again reminding him that if he did not surrender I would not be responsible for the safety of their families. I then added that I would give him 30 minutes to reconsider and if he did not I would order the resumption of hostilities and the bombing of Dacca. I then walked out to be met by the press.

I was extremely worried. Niazi had 26,400 troops in Dacca, we had about 3,000 some 30 miles out. I was in a quandary as what to do in the event of his refusing. Aurora and his entourage were expected to land in an hour or two and the ceasefire was to expire shortly. I had nothing in hand.

After 30 minutes I walked into the office to be met by a deathly silence, my draft surrender document lying on the table. I asked Niazi if he accepted this document, to which he did not reply. I repeated the enquiry thrice. He still did not respond.

I then picked up the document, holding it high, and said, “I take it as accepted.” Tears rolled down Niazi’s cheeks, there were glares from those present.

The Spirit of a Jew-The Birth of Bangladesh. I am able to recognize his Spirit as I had served in the same military operation and participated in military action in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. My Unit Adjutant Captain Kottayam Chacko Kurien ( Emergency Commission Officer who had earlier served in the Indian Army in the 1962 India-China War), a Kochi Jew had enriched my experience and understanding of Jewish Spirit.

I called Niazi aside and then told him that I had arranged for the signing to take place at the Race Course in public. He objected strongly. I then told him that he would have to surrender his sword. He said that he did not have a sword but would surrender his revolver.

At around 1500 hours, I asked Niazi to accompany me to the airport. As Nagra had not left a jeep for me, I sat with Niazi in his staff car. The Mukti Bahini fighters jumped on the car and it was with some difficulty that we reached the airport. Fortunately, en route we stopped a jeep with two of our paratroopers who were sightseeing. I asked them to follow us.

Around 1630 hours Aurora and his entourage arrived in a fleet of five M14 and four Allouette helicopters. Aurora was accompanied by his wife and the Cs-in-C of Navy and IAF Commands. Lt Gen. Sagat Singh and some of his divisional commanders also alighted, as did Wing Commander Khondker. Osmani, unfortunately was not there; the helicopter in which he had been traveling having been shot at and damaged.

I had planned to travel in the last car with Aurora and Niazi, but Aurora asked me to make way for his wife, who then took her place by her husband’s side. The ADC, who was carrying the papers to be signed, and I had to hitch our way on a truck to the Race Course.

Though there was very little time for any preparations, the ceremony went off reasonably well. After inspecting the guard of honour, Aurora and Niazi sat at the table and signed the Instrument of Surrender. I glanced at the documents and was aghast to see the heading which read “Instrument of Surrender – to be signed at 1631 IST [Indian Standard Time]”. I looked at my watch, which showed that the time was 1655 hours. The documents they brought to be signed had to be re-signed by both in Calcutta some two weeks later!

Niazi removed his epaulette, took out his revolver and handed it to Aurora; tears rolled down his cheeks. It was getting dark. The crowd at the Race Course began shouting and there were threats to lynch Niazi; anti-Pakistani slogans and abuses resounded. They then moved towards Niazi. The senior officers present formed a cordon around him and whisked him off in one of our jeeps.

Sometime later, when I examined the revolver that Niazi had surrendered, I realized that it could not have been Niazi’s. e barrel was choked with muck and had not been cleaned for some considerable time, the lanyard was frayed and dirty. This could not have been the personal weapon of a commanding general. Niazi had probably taken it from one of the military policemen and surrendered it as his personal weapon. I could not help feeling that in a small way Niazi had got some of his own back.

Excerpt: Dr. Henry Alfred Kissinger who was chief foreign policy adviser and Secretary of State to Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford is described as the architect of American foreign policy which he named as hegemony. None of the foreign policy initiatives for global dominance could help America to balance its federal budget and control its deficit spending which is the root cause of the problems that its economy is facing now. If American economy suffers, it would definitely cause a ripple effect. I am not surprised to hear that the merchants in the New York city are willing to accept payments in Euros as an acknowledgement of the fact that the U.S. Dollar has become weak and will continue to remain weak in comparison to major global currencies.

Chanakya could be described as the pioneer economist of the world. He is known for his shrewdness, astuteness and diplomacy. He may have been influenced by Zoroastrians who arrived in India from Persia (present day Iran). He became a counsellor and adviser to King Chandragupta (reigned c. 321- c. 297) of the Mauryan Empire in India. King Chandragupta was a contemporary of Alexander the Great. Chanakya was instrumental in helping Chandragupta to overthrow the powerful Nanda dynasty at Pataliputra, Magadha.

Chanakya is praised for his sound political wisdom and knowledge of human nature. Because of him the Mauryan Empire under Chandragupta and later under Ashoka (reigned c. 265- c. 238) became a model of efficient government.

Whole Dude – Whole Hegemony: Chanakya Niti – A review of the Doomed US Policy of Hegemony

Chanakya wrote a classic treatise on polity, Artha Shastra. Artha means property, economics or material success. It incorporates Principles of Economics and Administration. The book discusses monetary and fiscal policies, welfare, international relations and war strategies. His book Niti Shastra deals with the ideal way of life. The book Chanakya Niti enunciates his policies.

At the end of the cold war, America has assumed the role of World’s only Superpower (Hyperpower) and is willing to dominate the globe in all aspects including that of being the sole military, political, economic and socio-cultural power.

What’s Good for America is Good for the World:

If Chanakya is called upon to evaluate the performance of American foreign policy, he would naturally first look at the impact of American military spending.

The total amount of year 2008 supplemental funding for American wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is $ 189.3 Billion and $ 158 Billion is for the Iraq war. The total spending for the Iraq war is $ 617 Billion and would be increasing on a daily basis. The total U.S. casualties in Iraq has reached a grim milestone of 4,000. America fought battles in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and the human toll was very heavy. But, in terms of the costs of waging wars, the present costs are astronomical. Does this military spending boost the national economy and create jobs? The verdict is that the military spending is draining resources from the productive economy. It has a detrimental impact on many sectors of the economy. It has resulted in slow economic growth, less investment, higher trade deficits and fewer jobs. American economy has now slowed down and currently it is the biggest concern of the American public and the concern for economy is greater than the concern for the future course of war in Ukraine.

The U.S. national debt topped $34 trillion for the first time ever, crossing a critical milestone at a time when government spending is already under scrutiny.

The national debt – which measures what the U.S. owes its creditors — hit $34 trillion as of Friday afternoon, according to new data published by the Treasury Department. By comparison, just four decades ago, the national debt hovered around $907 billion.

The national debt is expected to nearly double in size over the next three decades, according to the latest findings from the Congressional Budget Office. At the end of 2022, the national debt grew to about 97% of gross domestic product.

Under current law, that figure is expected to skyrocket to 181% at the end of 2053 – a debt burden that will far exceed any previous level.

“Though our level of debt is dangerous for both our economy and for national security, America just cannot stop borrowing,” said Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

How would America defends its National Security?

American national security will remain hostage to events on the ground in Ukraine. There is no easy way out.

America claimed a big success for its foreign policy in the break up of the Republic of Yugoslavia and for creating the State of Kosovo. Kosovo has no economy of its own and is currently dependent upon the American and European troops who spend their money while they are stationed there. American military spending in Europe is projected to increase much more on account of the new missile and radar bases it would have in Poland and Czech Republic.

Chanakya Niti – A review of the US policy of Hegemony. The chief architect of the doomed US policy. The ideals and principles contained in the historical document known as ‘The Declaration of Independence’ could not be translated into reality. In the United States, rulers have become corrupt, they pursued economic, trade, and commerce policies that caused a huge chasm between aspirations and accomplishments of this independent nation. National, and personal indebtedness has grown to unimaginable levels while very few individuals have amassed immense personal wealth. Employment opportunities are lost as the country depends upon products and services that are entirely imported from foreign countries like People’s Republic of China where people have no representative government. United States lacks an informed population while people use education as a tool for economic privilege. There are no laws and institutions to compensate for the diminution of public virtue.
