The attributes of ‘Kali Yuga’ – The Age of Stress:
The Sound Energy – The Miracle Cure for Stress: SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – CYCLICAL FLOW OF TIME – HUMAN NATURE AND HUMAN BEHAVIOR: IN THE INDIAN TRADITION THE CYCLICAL FLOW OF TIME IS DESCRIBED AS FOUR PERIODS NAMED 1. SATYA YUGA, 2. TRETA YUGA, 3. DWAPARA YUGA, AND 4. KALI YUGA. MAN MAY DISPLAY DIFFERENT BEHAVIORS DURING EACH PERIOD OF TIME OR YUGA.
The Sanskrit word ‘Kali’ means fermented or contaminated water. While fresh water contributes to good health, and vitality, polluted water would induce stress and strain and leads to illness that manifests as strife, discord, quarrel, or contention. One of the attributes of Kali Yuga is the importance attached to wealth acquisition. Money and acquisition of money have become significant stressors in our lives. Money related problems are among top concerns playing a role in anxious or depressed moods. As avarice, greed, and wrath have become common, there is no contentment, nor discernment, and nor mental composure. As men are tormented by worries, the use of prescription drugs such as tranquilizers has become very common. Various methods have been developed to cope with psychogenic or internal stress including the use of psychotherapy. Unhealthy coping of stress is leading people to activities such as smoking, drinking, gambling, compulsive eating, and the use of mood altering drugs and chemical substances. Such unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with stress can trigger more conflicts both at home and in the society.
Creative uses for Sound Energy:
The Sound Energy – A Miracle Cure for Stress.
The science of acoustics deals with the nature, properties, generation, propagation, and reception of sound waves. Sound is defined as a vibration, a mechanical disturbance from a state of equilibrium that propagates by wave motion through an elastic medium. In gases, and liquids, sound propagates as longitudinal, compression waves. In solids, sound propagates as transverse, shear waves. Sound waves behave in many ways as light waves do. Sound is a form of energy like light. Light is an electromagnetic wave. Unlike light, sound cannot exist in a vacuum. Acoustics is important in fields of speech and hearing, the production of music, in warfare, in research, in exploration, in medical diagnosis and therapy. Sonar is an acronym for sound navigation and ranging. Sonar is used in detection and location of submerged objects like submarines by using acoustical echo. Ultrasonics describe the study of all sound like waves whose frequency is above the range of normal human hearing. Ultrasound is widely used in industry and in medicine. Pulses of ultrasound could be used to shatter kidney stones and gall stones. Ultrasonic drills and saws are useful in surgery and dentistry. Ultrasonic transducers have come to be widely used in medical imaging and have become a common diagnostic tool in pregnancy and for screening medical conditions that affect children. The technique of studying heart motions by ultrasonic means is known as echocardiography. In modern life we use sound energy in several creative ways.
The World is Full of Sounds:
Sound Energy – A Miracle Cure for Stress.
We encounter a great variety of sounds in our daily life. All natural phenomena such as thunder, rain, waterfall, surf, and gusts of wind generate their unique sounds which could be pleasing aswellas frightening. Across animal kingdom, sound is used for detecting danger, navigation, predation, communication, and also for relaxation. Animals possess special structures for production and reception of sounds. The sounds produced could be mechanical or vocal. The special vocal organs could also produce speech and song. Mammals can also produce sounds with parts of the body that are specialized for other purposes. We can produce sound by tapping the floor or by clapping the hands. Many animals are highly vocal and can produce species-specific sounds.
By understanding the sound reception mechanisms used by animals, we can also protect ourselves. Snakes have no reception for sounds propagated through air as they do not have external ears. But they recognize the sound vibrations that are propagated through ground. Snakes often bite when they are stressed. During Operation Eagle 1971 in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the War of Bangladesh Liberation, I allowed a large group of snakes to move under my legs by remaining still and not provoking them with any attempt to move. I trained soldiers to protect themselves from snake bites. For example, we can easily alert others by shouting and announcing the presence of a snake while standing still and get help to avoid snake bite.
Humans have developed Culture and technology such as radio, telephone, and music that allows them to generate, record, transmit, and broadcast sounds. We should further explore the potential uses for sound energy. In ancient India, thoughts were propagated from person to person using the ‘oral tradition’ which involves the use of sound energy as a tool of human communication.
The Biological Effects of Sound:
Sound Energy – A Miracle Cure for Stress.
A sudden, loud sound could disorient a person. High intensity sounds and exposure to noise could cause irritation, anxiety, fear, sleep deprivation, stress-reaction, and hearing loss. It could also cause permanent damage to the sense organs of hearing. High-order explosives produce a supersonic high pressure blast wave that could cause severe primary blast injuries in several organs like brain and lungs.
Sound Energy – A Miracle Cure for Stress.
Humans appreciate the value of sound as a tool for obtaining relaxation, rejuvenation of spirit and for mental amusement and entertainment. The soothing effects of sound can provide us mental comfort, help in the healing and recovery process. The Indian traditions claim that sound could be used as a medicine and the sound could exert medicinal effects taking advantage of the mind-body connection. Sound undoubtedly can affect our physiological responses to stress. Sound could act both like a stressor and as a stress reducer.
The Mystical Effects of Sound:
Sound Energy – A Miracle Cure for Stress
A ‘mantra’ can be defined as a sound, syllable, word, or group of words that are considered capable of creating transformation. The vocal sounds of the ‘mantra’ have inherent meaning independent of the understanding of the person uttering them. The incantor need not know the meaning of the words employed and it makes no difference to the mantric action. When we take prescribed medications, most of us do not understand the chemical formulas of the active ingredients and the pharmacological basis for their medicinal action. The vocal sounds of ‘mantra’ could still work even when we do not know the reason as to how it works. Many of the modern medications are derived from plants, herbs, and compounds that were traditionally used for curing illness.
Sound Energy – A Miracle Cure for Stress
The Indian tradition advocates the efficacy of vocal sounds in providing relief from physical problems that afflict us. In Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 7, verse 8, Lord Krishna states that He is the light of the sun and the moon, and that He is the Sound in ether. Light energy, and sound energy are aspects of the various energy manifestations of an Eternal, Original, and Primeval Person described as ‘Purusha’, the Lord God Creator. Our earthly existence is made possible by our Cosmic Connection with the material energies that we exploit to sustain and support our living functions.. Sound is a unique natural phenomenon of our earthly existence and because of its uniqueness it could be described as a creative energy. In the entire universe that we know and have explored, planet Earth is the only place where sound is generated, sound is propagated, and sound is recognized by living entites with anatomical organs and structures that are designed for that purpose.
An Elixir to destroy the ill-effects of Stress Pollution in the age of Kali Yuga:
The Sound Energy-A Miracle Cure for StressThe Sound Energy-A Miracle Cure for Stress.
The creative power of sound could be used to counteract the contaminating influence of the age of Kali. The sixteen words of the Hare Rama Mantra is first attested in the ‘Kali santaranopanisad'( Kali Santarana Upanishad) which is associated with the Krishna Yajur Veda. Creator Lord Brahma instructs sage Narada about the efficacy of this Mantra. The mere uttering of the phonetic sounds of words Hari, Rama, and Krishna is enough. A person does not require a Guru or a teacher to instruct the mantra. No fee is expected to obtain the knowledge of this mantra. A person is not expected to change his religion or observe any specific religious rituals as a part of using the mantra. There is no set time, or duration for repeating the words of the mantra. The words could be used individually or the precedence of the words could be rearranged. All the words are of a great potency.A person requires no previous qualification or training to use the mantra. There are no rites of initiation. It is unlike the practice of Yoga or Meditation. The person need not be in a temple or any other secluded place. The mantra could be used while fully engaged in the routine activities of life. The words could be repeated either out loud, softly to oneself, or internally within the mind. The mind hears the sounds of the words irrespective of the manner used to utter them. The Upanishad further states:
TEXT 6
iti sodasakam namnam kali kalmasa nasanam
natah parataropayah sarva vedesu drusyate
iti—in this way; sodasam—sixteen; kam—collections of words;
sarva—in all; vedesu—Vedic scriptures; drusyate—is seen
TRANSLATION
“In this way, the collection of sixteen names is the only destroyer of the polluting effects of Kali-Yuga. No other remedy can be found in any part of the Vedic literature.”
The sixteen words of ‘Hare Rama Maha Mantra’ are especially meant for counteracting the polluting effects of the age of Kali. After searching through all the Vedic literature, one cannot find a better method.
I am not surprised to read about the mystical effects of sounds that could transform our lives and protect us from Stress. I have personal experience of withstanding the physical stress imposed by sun’s scorching heat in the open deserts during military exercises. We used nothing more than a little shade provided by thorny bushes or the camouflage net that we use to conceal our presence. The shade would at the most reduce the heat by a couple of degrees and yet the psychological relief it provides us so immense and it enables us to resist heat the entire day. I spent time in evaluating people and witness their ability to withstand a great variety of physical, chemical, biotic, and environmental stressors. The sixteen words of Hare Krishna Mantra have the potential to destroy the evil effects of stress by increasing our stress tolerance, by inducing stress resistance and by protecting our biological existence. Man’s Purpose in the vast universe of unknown dimensions
The Discovery of Bhavanajagat.com – BhavanaJagat is devoted to discover the purpose of man in this vast, universe of unknown dimensions.
Spiritualism – The Discovery of BhavanaJagat.com : What is the “Connection” between man and Sun? Does man have the physical and intellectual ability or capacity to harness Solar Energy to maintain his living functions? Man is a spiritual being as his existence demands the presence of a vital, animating, Life Principle that can be named as soul, or spirit. The purpose of soul or spirit involves the use of awareness or consciousness to obtain energy from an external source to maintain the fact or condition called living. Man has no ability to directly rule or govern the individual, independent living cells of his body that display functional autonomy. Man, to support his existence needs the integration of functions of the cells, the tissues, and the various organ systems that constitute the multicellular, complex organism. Soul or spirit is the agency that operates the guiding or controlling mechanisms to provide mutually beneficial relationships and interactions that have characteristics such as mutual assistance, mutual tolerance, mutual cooperation, and mutual subservience for the benefit of the person who exists because of those functions.
Spiritualism – The Discovery of BhavanaJagat.com: Man’s home in the Milky Way Galaxy. Man is destined to live and seek existence on planet Earth as it is created with a purpose; the purpose of providing a home to the living entities.Spiritualism – The Discovery of BhavanaJagat.com: Planet Earth is unique, distinctive, original, and one of its own kind of created celestial object. The feature that I use to determine planet Earth’s originality is that of its Rotational Spin; its Rotational Speed and its Rotational Axis which make the planet the home for all living things.
Bhavanajagat.com is a site devoted to discovering man’s purpose in this vast universe of unknown dimensions. Please note that the word ‘man’ is being used in this conversation to refer to the human organism which is constituted by trillions of individual, independent, living cells that have formulated an association, a partnership, a relationship and bonding that is beneficial to the existence of the ‘subject’ called ‘man’. If man has a purpose in this universe; it will not be possible to discover that purpose by physically exploring the limits or boundaries of the universe. Man’s physical abilities and capacity to directly explore universe are extremely limited. Man needs the safety and comfort of his terrestrial home to perform his life’s journey. The word “Jagat” refers to planet Earth, and this entire known and unknown limits of physical universe. The word Jagat also refers to things that are constantly moving and hence changing. Man exists on planet Earth which is never at the same position as it partakes in the motion of Sun in the Milky Way. It is observed that the galaxies in our universe are not stationary objects and are moving all the time.
Man may never know his precise location in this universe at any given instant and his existence is conditioned by an unknown factor called Change. Since man’s existence is conditioned by constant change, it faces several challenges from known and unknown directions. The purpose of my study and investigation is that of promoting the well-being of all people without any distinction based upon race, ethnicity, country or nationality, culture, religion, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, educational qualification, occupational status, social ranking and participation in social or political organizations. There is a fundamental need to defend, and to preserve human existence as such ideas are always inspired by true or real human nature.
Man is a Rational Being:
Vitruvian Man, the creation of Leonardo da Vinci – Spiritualism – The Discovery of Bhavanajagat.com: What is the purpose of Man in Life and What is His purpose in the World and in the Universe where he exists?
Man has no choice other than that of depending upon his reasoning abilities to arrive at a rational understanding of his purpose in life and his existence in this universe. A tool that man can use to know and understand the world and the universe is called “Bhavana.” The Indian language term “Bhavana” refers to a mental function or activity called thought or imagination. Man has the ability to use sensory information and combine it with his reasoning skills to make inferences about things that he may not be able to directly experience. Man uses a verification process to validate his mental concepts and ideas to find some correspondence between the mental concept and an external reality.
The word “Bhavana” could be used in several contexts such as 1.Originating Principle, 2. Prime Cause, 3. Devotion, 4. Meditation, 5. Mental Reflection or Contemplation, acts of thinking or imagination, 6. an act of Remembrance, 7. a proof or evidence, 8. recognition of things using the olfactory sense perception, 9. the mental preparation prior to performance of acts such as procreation and others, and 10. the use of a fluid medium like honey or fruit juice to dissolve medicinal agents. Using the principles of valid reasoning, it can be suggested that the universe had a beginning and it appears as a creative beginning as the products or things that came into existence appear like original, distinctive, and one of their own kind of objects. As of today, planet Earth appears like one of its own kind of object that is known to be supporting human existence. If planet Earth and the universe are created entities, the beginning implies a creative thought, imagination, or “Bhavana.” I will be using BhavanaJagat.com to share those ideas and mental concepts that may have practical application to provide therapeutic relief to the problems of human existence in this world and in this universe. I would also use Bhavanajagat.com to communicate several aspects of the term Bhavana as it relates to Jagat, planet Earth and universe that are subject to constant change.
Man is a Created Being : The Subjective Reality of Man:
Spiritualism – The Discovery of BhavanaJagat.com: Man is a created being and this fact does not demand the Discovery of the Lord God Creator. Man is a rational being who uses sensory information, applies a reasoning process and makes inferences about existence of things that he may not be able to directly experience.
BhavanaJagat recognizes man as a created being. Man comes into his state of existence as an original, unique, distinctive, one of its own kind of object or thing that has not existed in the past, and will not exist again in the future. This uniqueness is related to the nature of the human genome that always establishes man as a specific Individual. Man has no choice other than that of existing as an Individual with Individuality. This fact of being an Individual is explained by the individualistic behavior of the DNA molecules which determine the morphological appearance, the structures, and functions of the human organism; the DNA and other organic molecules it creates using the mechanism of protein synthesis.
The human person who describes himself as “I” comes into being and declares the fact of his existence by using the two words; “I AM.” The person called “I” has no independent existence at any stage of his existence. The condition called human existence always demands a connection with an external source of energy. In good health, or ill-health, at any given age, under any given circumstances, at any given place and environment, and membership in a social community, man needs to use energy and replenish the used energy. Man can maintain the Subjective Reality of his existence if he is connected to an external source of energy that derives its energy from Cosmic or extraterrestrial source of energy. Man does not establish this connection or partnership because of his physical, or mental efforts and work.
Man is a Spiritual Being: The Objective Reality of Man:
Man is a Spiritual Being as his existence demands the presence of a vital, animating, Life Principle. While most people agree that there is a fundamental distinction between living, and non-living matter, there is no consensus about the meaning of the term ‘soul’, or ‘spirit’. BhavanaJagat uses the term ‘Soul’, or ‘Spirit’ to describe it as a material living principle and the term will not be used to describe any kind of immaterial principle which may have an independent existence while it is not attached to a living human being.
Man’s Essence and Man’s Existence:
Spiritualism – Discovery of BhavanaJagat.com: The Pencil in Water Illusion: Man leads a ‘conditioned’ existence, just like the Pencil in Water. The Reality of the Pencil can be easily demonstrated by simply removing the Pencil from Water. In case of man it is not easy to conduct such a demonstration as man needs the help of an Illusion and not the experience of Reality. Science can explain the reason for this Illusion, but Science has no Power/Force/Energy to alter the properties of Light rays that produce the Illusion. While being conditioned, man has no choice other than that of Ignorance; the Reality of planet Earth’s motions are not needed as direct sensory experience.
Man’s Essence (What You Are) has two aspects; 1. An External Reality that can be known to others and is recognized by others, and 2. An Internal Reality, known to the man or an entity that can be called “The Knowing-Self.” Man’s physical identity, actions, and behavior are variable and are influenced by variable, external, environmental factors. Man defines his Essence in his thoughts, in his speech, in his actions, and behavior. But, to display this Essence, man needs the help of an unchanging operating principle that is associated with the nature of his living substance or living matter. Soul, or spirit is that unchanging principle that is unaffected by the influence of time or the variable, external, environmental factors. Man’s thoughts, speech, actions, and behavior will reflect this true, or real unchanging spiritual nature when he understands, and knows that his Existence demands the experience of an Illusion. Man exists on the surface of a fast-moving object and man is blissfully ignorant of the reality of Earth’s motions.Man recognizes Sunrise, Sunset, the alternating periods of Light and Darkness, and the changing Seasons. But, man has no direct, sensory experience of the fact of a moving object that causes the changes that he experiences as Day and Night. In other words, man lives because of his ignorance of the amazing speed with which the world is constantly changing its location in the Space. The speed of planet Earth if experienced, is not compatible with human existence. Man exists as he has no direct experience of the Reality of this World and the Universe.
Man can recognize the operation of a Fundamental Force called Gravitation. But, if man’s Essence, and Existence have to come together, we need a Power/Force/Energy that can be called Love which has the attributes of Mercy/Grace/Compassion. To know the existence of this Power/Force/Energy called Love (Mercy/Grace/Compassion), man is endowed with an intellectual ability called ‘devotion’. BhavanaJagat.com explores the purpose of man in this universe using a reasoning process directed by ‘devotion’.
Kindly join me in this effort and visit Bhavanajagat.com to review my thoughts and offer me encouragement and guidance with your feedback.

Bharat Darshan defines Indian Identity- What is Prema (Love)? Sri Satya Sai Baba describes the man as an embodiment of PREMA (Love) and it appears that he was inspired by The New Testament Books of Holy Bible which define God as Love and directs man to Love God and to Love one another.
Indian saint Sri Satya Sai Baba describes man as an embodiment of PREMA (Love) and it appears that he drew inspiration from the Books of Holy Bible which define God as Love and directs man to Love God and to Love one another. He further asserts that he would be known as Prema Sai (Sai, the embodiment of Divine Love) in his next reincarnation.
Love is a powerful emotion felt for another person manifesting itself in deep affection, devotion or sexual desire. If love is viewed as fondness or affection it may include or based in part on sexual attraction which is related to libido (sexual urge or instinct), and lust (a desire to gratify the senses or bodily appetite that seeks unrestrained gratification).
Love implies feelings that are attached to relationships or objects and assumes various forms such as sexual love, brotherly love, and love of God. The attachment may be felt for inanimate things as well as people, or ideas, or expressed as an abstraction. There are many different kinds of love; different in object, different in tendency, and different in expression.
The problem of the kinds of love is further complicated by the need to differentiate and relate love and desire. The category of love known as sexual love has the tendency to desire possession of the object that is loved. The tendency of desire is acquisitive. Sexual love is a love born of desire, and the drive of desire continues until it is satisfied by possession of the loved object. Physical possession is the basis for the satisfaction of sexual desire, sexual appetite, or sexual hunger, or sexual thirst. The other forms of love do not tend to possess the object loved but seek to benefit the object that is loved. Love is selfish when it acts like hunger, thirst, or appetite which need to be satisfied for the benefit of the person expressing that love.
Love is altruistic when it acts for the good or the benefit of the beloved. Conjugal love may include a combination of selfishness and altruism. The ancient languages have three distinct words for the main types of love; Eros, Philia, and Agape in Greek language; Amor, Amicita or Dilectio, and Caritas in Latin language. However, English language has no such distinct words and hence it becomes necessary to use such phrases as “sexual love”, “love of friendship”, and “love of charity” in order to indicate plainly that love is common to all three, and to distinguish the three meanings.
The idea of love expressed in Biblical Scriptures makes no distinction between Amor, Dilectio, and Caritas.
Whole Dude – Whole Love. What is Love?
For example, in The Gospel according to Saint Matthew, Chapter 22, verses 37, 38, and 39 Jesus proclaims the Great Commandments while endorsing the Laws of Moses: Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
Jesus brings unity between the idea of self-love, love of God, and the love of one another without making distinction between the three different kinds of love. Jesus does not specify if man should wish and expect to be loved in return. Jesus did not attach any purpose to this act of love, and did not describe the nature of desire, the attachment, and the gratification that may operate the Love Commandment.
THE ORIGIN OF LOVE:
Sigmund Freud places the origin of Love in sexual instincts and he claims that the many varieties or categories of Love are simply the forms which love takes as the libido fixes upon various objects.
Sigmund Freud’s theory places the origin of love in the sexual instincts, and so for him the many varieties of love are simply the forms which love takes as the ‘LIBIDO’ fixes upon various objects. He states, “The nucleus of what we mean by love naturally consists …… in sexual love with sexual union as its aim. We do not separate from this; on the one hand, self-love, and on the other, love for parents and children, friendship and love for humanity in general, and also devotion to concrete objects and to abstract ideas….. All these tendencies are an expression of the same instinctive activities…. They differ from sexual love only because they are diverted from its aim or prevented from reaching it, though they always preserve enough of their original nature to keep their identity recognizable.” If love is the passion of the sexual instinct, temperance is an inadequate restraint. Neither reason nor law is adequate to the task of subduing the nature of the sexual instinct. Sexual instinct is a very powerful biological instinct and it profoundly influences human behavior. Hence it becomes necessary to transform sexual love either by repressing it, or sublimating it, or mixing it with tenderness or kindness. In that context, friendship, charity or compassion, and devotion to God could be stated as transformations of sexual love. Sexual instincts are inhibited or actually repressed in the expression of brotherly love, or feelings of deep affection for children and others where the relationship should not be based upon feelings of sexual attraction.
THE COMPLEXITY OF LOVE:
Bharat Darshan defines Indian Identity- What is Prema (Love)? Sri Satya Sai Baba describes the man as an embodiment of PREMA (Love) and it appears that he was inspired by The New Testament Books of Holy Bible which define God as Love and directs man to Love God and to Love one another.
Love is a very complex emotional instinct and it is complex as it may not always provide a sense of joy or happiness. There is a fact about love; love frequently turns into its opposite, hate. Sometimes there is love and hate of the same object; sometimes love inspires hate, and love may also cause jealousy, anger, and fear. Love seems to be the primal passion, generating all the others according to the oppositions of pleasure and pain and by relation of cause and effect. The individual’s experience of love is extremely variable and it includes the operation of both positive and negative impulses.
The Indian tradition has carefully examined this complex instinctual behavior and it instructs people to understand the three major distinctions or categories of love and to apply a sense of restraint, or that of repression. It brings love under the purview of morality, the code of Right Conduct or Dharma. Indian Culture does not provide the linguistic tools to express feelings associated with sexual passion without using temperance. There is no linguistic equivalent in classical Indian languages to profess love. The terms and words that Indians use have specific meaning attached to them.
LOVE vs PREMA:
Bharat Darshan defines Indian Identity- What is Prema (Love)? Sri Satya Sai Baba describes the man as an embodiment of PREMA (Love) and it appears that he was inspired by The New Testament Books of Holy Bible which define God as Love and directs man to Love God and to Love one another.
Love is not a universal term and this idea is not expressed in Indian tradition and classical literature.
The word “Love” appears repeatedly in the Bible, in several different editions of Bible. I am not a language expert and I believe that people who translated Bible have exercised great care to convey the meaning of love. Many editions of Bible have further clarified the meaning of Love in their glossary section or Bible dictionary and define Love as a deep sense of affection, devotion for someone or something and they very carefully exclude sexual desire and sexual passion. In English speaking world, and in English literature, the word Love is used to describe desire, libido, lust, and passion based upon sexual attraction. So, Love is a generic term and it may not always mean brotherly love and goodwill.
Indian Culture has erected subtle barriers and has not provided linguistic tools to use the word Love as we like. It separates Love into various categories and sets them apart. The feelings of affection, or fondness that are associated with sexual attraction are specifically known as ‘Kama’ and intense sexual passion or desire is called ‘Moha’. Any intense or passionate desire could be called Kama and to act under its influence could be stated as Moha. My love for God could only be expressed in terms of Bhakti or Devotion, and the desire could be called Preet. The desire called Preeti or Preet is a legitimate desire. It is also called “Ishta.” I am allowed to seek or desire certain things in my life and that desire is subject to the rule of Good Conduct or Dharma. I can express the sentiment of Preet only when, and where such desire is allowed to be stated in a legitimate manner, and is acceptable to tradition and established conventions and social norms. If I entertain thoughts of sexual attraction about my attractive and rich neighbor, I am not allowed to express my feelings as Preet. It can not be called “Ishta”. I can call it Kama or Moha. In the epic poem of Ramayana, when King Ravana, the King of Lanka desired to marry Princess Sita and had attended her ‘Swayamvara’, his desire was legitimate as he intended to seek the gratification of the feelings of sexual attraction through rightful conduct called marriage. But, when he abducted her while she was lawfully married to Prince Rama, that desire and sexual attraction represents an impulsive action of Moha, and Kama. King Ravana was not entitled to express his Love for Sita if it is formulated by Kama, and intense sexual passion known as lust or Moha. Similarly, a man can express his love or Preet for a woman in a respectful or legitimate manner and to seek a valid relationship based upon trust, respect, and commitment. If the relationship is illegal, it can not be called Preet. A father’s love, or mother’s love, or brother’s love is described as “Vatsalya,” a natural sense of affection and fondness which is not related to sexual attraction or desire. The word “Prema” or “Prem” is used to describe the feelings of affection, fondness, Friendship (Sneha or Maitri)), Kindness (Daya, or Karuna), Compassion (Krupa), Happiness, Joy (Ananda) that have no direct relationship to the satisfaction of sexual desires and passions. The deep sense of affection between husband and wife is often called “Anurag” which indicates an intimate friendship. I can not literally translate this word Love into any of the Indian languages as such expression is not allowed without stating the nature of its contents.
Whole Dude – Whole Love. What is Love?
The Commandment of Jesus to Love your neighbor as thyself cannot be easily expressed in Indian languages. Jesus has not stated that idea in terms of Friendship (Sneha), Kindness (Daya), or giving Happiness (Ananda). Only when, and if those qualities of friendship, kindness, and giving joy or happiness are specifically included; Jesus could Command others to express Love or Prema to another person.
Whole Dude – Whole Love. What is Love?
However, in the Indian tradition, the deep sense of affection or fondness of God is stated as Bhakti or Devotion.
Whole Dude – Whole Love. What is Love? The Mystical Relationship between Poet Meerabai and Lord Krishna.
16th century Hindu Saint Meerabai (1498 AD to 1547 AD) reveals her deep sense of affection and adoration of Lord Krishna in songs and actions which still captivates the attention of people who learn about her thoughts and feelings. Her passionate feelings expressed in sweet and endearing words cannot be captured by the term Love.
Whole Dude – Whole Love. What is Love? In the Indian tradition, the Love of God is described in an unique manner always imparting a divine sensation or an experience of Sweetness.
Jayadeva in his famous Ashtapadi, Gita Govinda gives an enchanting description of Lord Krishna’s creative activities in Brindavan (Vrindavan) and he depicts the intense erotic feelings of the young maidens as a product of their supreme devotion to the Lord. I can not use the word Love to describe the sexual passions of the Gopis or the young maidens of Brindavan.
SELF-LOVE AND NARCISSISM:
Bharat Darshan defines Indian Identity- What is Prema (Love)? Sri Satya Sai Baba describes the man as an embodiment of PREMA (Love) and it appears that he was inspired by The New Testament Books of Holy Bible which define God as Love and directs man to Love God and to Love one another.
My concern is not about Prema or Love. My concern is about self-love, a man’s love of himself. In psychology the word ‘Narcissim’ is used to describe excessive self-love. In my medical practice, I have not encountered such narcissistic tendencies among people of Indian origin. The Indian tradition has erected barriers and would not easily let us identify ourselves with the physical-self. The Indian tradition repeatedly instructs us about our Essence and true Identity and reminds us not to get attached to the physical-self. If I have no feelings of attachment to my physical-self, I can not really love myself. If I can not truly love myself, I can not also love my neighbor in the same manner, or to a same degree of my self-love. If man is not expected to love himself, the issue of loving the neighbor is redundant.
Bharat Darshan defines Indian Identity- What is Prema (Love)? “Prema Sai will be born in Doddamalur”
The Times of India has published a news story about the likely reincarnation of Satya Sai Baba as “Prema Sai Baba.
Whole Dude – Whole Love: What is Love? Indian Saint Sri Sathya Sai Baba announced his plans for his reincarnation as an embodiment of Love called Prema Sai Baba.
M B Maramkal & K R Rajendra Kumar, TNN | Times of India, Apr 28, 2011, 05.52am IST
DODDAMALUR (Mandya): Will the reincarnation be reality or not? Whatever happens, the tiny village of Doddamalur, off the Bangalore-Mysore highway, will definitely be in the news in the coming years, with scores of stories doing the rounds here over the reincarnation of Sathya Sai Babaas Prema Sai.
What has lent credence to claims of people of the Vaishnava sect temples of Aprameya (Vishnu) and Ambegalu Krishna (toddler Krishna) is based on a book `Sri Sathya Sai — Anandasai’ authored by one Swami, an ardent devotee of Sai Baba. In that, he claims that the godman, during his visit to Doddamalur, had told him that Sai Baba had three avatars in kalyug, and of them, he is the second avatar (reincarnation) of Shirdi Sai Baba. The third will be Prema Sai and he will be born in this village. He also claims that Baba, during his visit in the ’60s, showed a small house where he will be born.
However, confusion prevails among people who are making claims of Baba’s reincarnation in the village. According to Ramadas, who runs a Krishna charitable trust, Prema Sai will be born in this village after 2023, as predicted by Sathya Sai Baba. Ramadas said Baba had predicted that his personal assistant, Narayan Kasturi, who died long ago, will reincarnate himself as a woman in a village near Bhadravathi, marry a person from this village and give birth to Prema Sai. “Today you are my assistant, in the next life you will be my mother,” Sai Baba is supposed to have said.
Doddamalur, located on the banks of the river Kanva, will be called Gunaparthy after the reincarnation, said Raghav, an aged villager, disclosing that the soil and water of the village have curative powers. The village will be called Gun (cure) parthy (place) in the years to come.
WHY DID BABA CHOOSE THIS VILLAGE?
Villagers who are well-versed with its history claim that Baba was carried away by the religious history and mythological importance of this village. People say a Kanva sage did tapasya (penance) here and it was an agrahara (Brahmin settlement) in medieval history. It is said that saint Purandaradasa visited the Aprameya and Krishna temples here and presented a kirtana (discourse) on this village and temples. Baba was enamoured by the historic significance of this village.
“My impression about this story is, Sri Satya Sai Baba has attempted to import a foreign idea to the Land of Bharat without fully understanding the subtle cultural barriers that exist in the Land. The notion of Prema could only be expressed in terms of Friendship (lack of animosity), kindness and goodwill, and that of giving happiness to others. It can not be related to the idea of Love. The theory of reincarnation is not the issue. The issue is about the idea itself. He has to attach meaning to the word “Prema” that he used and distinguish it from the word “Love” that is used in English language.
Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: My mother, Annapurna grants her Whole Blessings of Akshata or Akshinta by sprinkling specially prepared uncooked, unbroken rice grains over the head of my daughter to prepare her to attain the goals of her life. She is the Sustainer of all Life
Annapurna (Annapoorna, Annapurneshwari, or Annada) is the Goddess of Food and Nourishment. Hence, Annapurna is a form of Shakti, Power, Force, and Energy and is described as a special manifestation of Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva, the Lord who sustains the creation and may eventually cause its dissolution.
Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: Goddess Annapurna (Anna+Purna ). The word Anna is translated as Food and Grains, and the word Purna means Whole, Full, or Complete.
The word Anna is translated as Food and Grains and the word Purna means Whole, Full, or Complete. Fullness comes from Fullness and it remains forever Full.
Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya.
Annapurna Devi symbolizes the abundant nourishment she gives to all. She is the Mother Principle and Lord Shiva symbolizes the Originating Principle or the Father Principle. She is the Mother Goddess of all Life. In the Indian Tradition the ritualistic worship of Food and the devotional offering of Food are highly praised. Food is considered sacred and prayers are offered before consuming Food.
Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: In the Indian Tradition, Moksha or Liberation is viewed as the Ultimate Goal of Life. To attain this goal, the man invokes the Blessings of Goddess Annapurna every time before he consumes Food to sustain his mortal existence.
In the Indian Tradition, Food is considered only as a means towards Moksha or Liberation, the Ultimate Goal of human birth. The process to attain Moksha demands acquisition of Jnana or Knowledge using the path of Vairagya or Detachment. For Jnana (the awakening of spiritual knowledge about true or real Self) and Vairagya (dispassion, detachment, freedom from all other worldly desires), the seeker begs it as the alms of Grace, Mercy, and Compassion granted by Mother Annapurna.
Akshata or Akshinta, the Whole Blessings granted by Mother Annapurna:
Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: Akshata or Akshinta are specially prepared Uncooked, and Unbroken Grains of Rice that deliver the Whole Blessings of Mother Annapurna.
Akshata is a Sanskrit word which means Whole. Akshata or Akshinta refers to the Unbroken and Uncooked Rice Grains offered to the deity during worship and other religious ceremonies to invoke the Whole Blessings of Mother Annapurna, the Sustainer of Life. Akshata are often sprinkled over the heads of the seekers of Whole Blessings of Life with prosperity, fertility, and bounty. Akshata are used in all auspicious occasions such as the performance of marriage ceremonies.
The Whole Concept of Whole Vairagya:
Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya
Vairagya is a Sanskrit word that translates to detachment or dispassion. In Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras (1:15), the essence of Vairagya is described as: Dispassion, the conscious mastery of the control of desire for objects seen, perceived, or heard. King-Sage Bhartrihari composed 100 verses popularly known as Vairagya Satakam.

The goal of renunciation and non-attachment to life is not attained by avoiding the consumption of food which sustains the mortal existence. In fact, food is the spiritual medium that provides the connection between the energy dependent man and his energy provider. The chemical energy required for the performance of all living functions involves the act of cellular respiration.
Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: Cellular respiration is a set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.
Man is a created being and is constituted as a Spiritual Being. The Spiritual Knowledge required to establish, to maintain, and to sustain the human existence is implanted in the living, corporeal substance of the man and it cannot be acquired or learned from any external source. At a fundamental level the existence of man is not related to the physical and mental work performed by man. It is true that man must satisfy the sensations of hunger and thirst by performing actions to gather and consume food and drink but its transformation into a new form of chemical energy which alone sustains life does not depend upon any external source of Knowledge.
I ask my readers to carefully review the concept of Knowledge acquired through the Learning Experience for the attainment of Vairagya.
Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole vairagya: There are four major qualities/strengths one has to develop, in order to reach the Self, and attain freedom and permanent happiness in this world we live in Today. 1. Discrimination (Viveka) 2. Dispassion(Vairagya ) 3. Desire to be Free and Desire for the Highest. (Mumukshatva) Continued—–Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: 4th Pillar consists of Six Wealths/Strengths or Qualities : Shama (Control over mind) Dama (Control over senses) Titiksha (Endurance and forebearing) Uparati (Rejoicing in your own nature) Shraddha (Faith) Samadhana (Being at ease)Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: What is Viveka? Whatever you consider as stationary or solid is neither stationary nor solid. Discriminating between that which is not changing, and everything else which is ever changing is Viveka . Understanding that everything is changing would reduce 99% of the misery in this world. The Spiritual nature of the living substance does not change under the influence of time.Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: What is Vairagya? Vairagya means Becoming at Ease with What Is. An attitude of So what! Let it be, whatever takes away the feverishness in you and brings you to that pillar of dispassion. Dispassion towards the enjoyments of the five sense or the spiritual enjoyment, towards the seen and the unseen, the outer world or the inner world. Man who views Food as the source of Spiritual Energy will not get attached to Food he consumes. Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: The existence of Man in the terrestrial domain is always conditioned and man is not born free. The desire for deliverance from the dependent, conditioned existence is experienced if and only if man retains the spiritual connection that maintains the vital, living function called Cellular Respiration.Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya. The Six virtues come into play if and only if the man keeps his physical, mortal existence performing the function of cellular respiration using spiritual knowledge implanted in the living substance of Life.Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya. Self-Control, Self-Restraint, Self-Discipline to restrain the mind depend upon the man’s ability to perform the vital, living function called Cellular Respiration.Whole Dude – Whole Blessings for Whole Vairagya: The Practice or Abhyas will be made possible if man is attached to Food to create the chemical energy required to sustain the vital, living functions such as respiration and circulation.
The concept of Whole Vairagya is based upon the following propositions:
Existence (What You Do – the performance of vital, living function called Cellular Respiration) always precedes Essence (What You Are in terms of your acquired Knowledge, Learned Experience, and through your physical, and mental effort or Practice or Abhyas.
Man is a Created Being and is constituted as a Spiritual Being. The Spiritual Knowledge is innate, and is implanted in the Living Substance which performsSpiritual Functions such as Consciousness, and Nutrition for it is aware of its own energy-dependent existence in its given external environment.
Spiritual Knowledge is not acquired through man’s physical or mental work. However, man can discover his own true or real Spiritual nature with the help of the Learning Experience.
The Lord God Creator is present in His entire creation but He remains detached, aloof, disinterested, and may even seem to be estranged from His own creation. But, man is not free and is always trapped by the shackles of conditioned, dependent, earthly existence.
The earthly, mortal, transient, ephemeral, and physical existence of man at any stage of his existence, in good health or ill health depends upon the Unconditioned Love of God who delivers the Whole Blessings of Mercy, Grace, and Compassion even if man is ignorant and is not aware of God’s existence. And,
The man who realizes that he has no deliverance, no liberation, and that there is no release from his bonding, his attachment, his yoking, his partnership, his association, and his spiritual connection with Lord God Creator attains Whole Vairagya or gets detached from the things that derive their existence from attachment to the World.
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? Professor Jonardon Ganeri, The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London in 2014. Now, he teaches in the Department of Philosophy, University of Toronto, Canada. He studies philosophy of self, consciousness, and self-knowledge and brings Indian Sanskrit philosophical traditions into focus.
What Would Krishna Do? Or Shiva? Or Vishnu?
Jonardon Ganeri is a philosopher whose work draws on a variety of philosophical traditions to construct new positions in the philosophy of mind, metaphysics and epistemology. He advocates an expanded role for cross-cultural methodologies in philosophical research, together with enhanced cultural diversity in the philosophical curriculum. His research interests are in consciousness, self, attention, the epistemology of inquiry, the idea of philosophy as a practice and its relationship with literature. He works too on the history of ideas in early modern South Asia, intellectual affinities between India and Greece, and Buddhist philosophy of mind.
Bharat Darshan. Devotion is the Method of Inquiry used by Krishna, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and all other Hindu Gods. Goddess Sarasvati, the Goddess of Knowledge, the Source of Consciousness and Intelligence that is required to establish the living functions of a man’s mortal existence.
Jonardon Ganeri, Professor of Philosophy, Department of the Study of Religions, The School of Oriental and African Studies(SOAS), University of London displays a commendable understanding of Indian Schools of Thought in an interview that is titled, ‘What Would Krishna Do? Or Shiva? Or Vishnu?’ published by The New York Times in the Opinion posted by Gary Gutting on August 03, 2014. He shares an opinion of Hinduism as a profusion of gods and sacred texts that lack a single theological structure, but they sustain a long tradition of tolerance, and many paths to the divine.
In my analysis, Professor Jonardon Ganeri fails to acknowledge the Method of Inquiry used by Hinduism to discover the Ultimate Truth and Reality. In the Indian tradition, the Divine Mother Goddess Sarasvati symbolizes the Original Source of Pure Knowledge and Perfect Wisdom. All the Gods of Hinduism and all Hindus recognize the limitations of their own cognitive abilities. Without any exceptions all Gods including Krishna, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and others worship Goddess Sarasvati with a great sense of devotion to receive the Gift of Knowledge.
Devotion is the Method of Inquiry to know the Reality of the man and the World:
Bharat Darshan. Devotion is the Method of Inquiry used by Krishna, Brahma, Vishnu,Shiva, and all other Hindu Gods. Goddess Sarasvati represents Pure Knowledge and Perfect Wisdom. God implants this supernatural Knowledge in matter which then becomes conscious and gains the ability to perform all of its living functions.
What it is to be a Substance? and What it is to Exist? We need to establish knowledge about the man and the world on a firm basis and the information it provides must be tested for its accuracy and consistency with an external reality. We have to make the fundamental distinction between the living and the non-living matter. The scientific advances of the 19th and 20th centuries reinforced the materialistic position concerning the basic similarity of organic living and inorganic physical matter. The man is viewed as a product of natural evolution and is thought to be subject to the same laws of Physics and Chemistry or mechanistic principles.
We need a methodology to study philosophy and to understand philosophical statements. Logical Positivism, also known as Scientific Empiricism aims to clarify concepts in both everyday and scientific language. It describes analysis of language as the function of philosophy. This analysis of language and of concepts is important to understand questions of belief and ideology which affect what we think we ought to do individually and socially. I would use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the concept of Spiritual Optics, the Spiritual dimension of designing the Solar System and the designing of the Living Systems. The principal Method of Inquiry I use is called Devotion or Bhakti in the Indian Sanskrit language.
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? MAN’S LIFE JOURNEY ON THE SURFACE OF EARTH IS GOVERNED BY THE ILLUSION THAT GENERATES THE APPARENT MOTION OF SUN ACROSS THE SKY. THE MAN’S LIFETIME OR LIFE-SPAN IS MEASURED BY USING ENVIRONMENTAL STIMULI CAUSED BY SUNRISE AND SUNSET WHILE IN REALITY THE SUN SHINES ALL THE TIME.
In the context of knowing the man and the world, I discuss about the motions of Earth. The Milky Way Galaxy is moving at about 1.2 million miles/hour (not all the stars of the Milky Way Galaxy System move at this speed). Sun is moving at about 140 miles per second to revolve around the Galactic Center.. Earth is revolving around Sun at about 66,660 miles/hour and is spinning around its axis at about 1,000 miles/hour. In my life journey on the surface of planet Earth, I partake in all these motions as I have no other individual choice, no freedom of action or ability to rule or govern myself according to my individualistic choice.
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? NICOLAUS COPERNICUS (1473-1543), POLISH ASTRONOMER DESCRIBED THE HELIOCENTRIC SOLAR SYSTEM, THE SUN IS THE CENTER OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM. BUT, THE MAN’S EXPERIENCE OF THE WORLD STILL DEMANDS SUNRISE AND SUNSET, THE APPARENT MOTIONS OF SUN IN THE SKY.
Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) Polish astronomer discovered that planets revolve around the Sun and that the turning of the Earth on its axis from West to East accounts for the apparent rising and setting of the stars (includes Sunrise and Sunset), and it forms the basis for modern astronomy.
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? JOHANNES KEPLER (1571-1630), GERMAN ASTRONOMER AND MATHEMATICIAN IS KNOWN FOR THE LAWS OF PLANETARY MOTIONS. THE MAN CAN DESCRIBE MOTIONS OF PLANETS BUT CANNOT ACCOUNT FOR THE FORCE THAT INITIATED EARTH’S ROTATION AROUND ITS AXIS.
Johannes Kepler (1571-1603) German astronomer and mathematician discovered the Kepler’s Laws of Motion.
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? SIR ISSAC NEWTON (1642-1727), ENGLISH PHYSICIST, MATHEMATICIAN, AND NATURAL PHILOSOPHER FORMULATED THE LAWS OF GRAVITY AND MOTION. THOSE LAWS OF PHYSICS MAY NOT ACCOUNT FOR EARTH’S ROTATIONAL SPIN.
Sir Issac Newton (1642-1727) English mathematician, physicist, and natural philosopher formulated the Laws of Gravity and Motion.
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? ALBERT EINSTEIN (1879-1955), US PHYSICIST, BORN IN GERMANY FORMULATED THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY. MY LEARNING EXPERIENCE OR ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE WILL NOT PREVENT THE SENSORY EXPERIENCE OF SUN’S APPARENT MOTION ACROSS THE SKY. IT IS THIS ILLUSION THAT SUPPORTS THE HUMAN EXISTENCE.
Albert Einstein (1879-1955), US physicist, born in Germany formulated the Theory of Relativity. The most important matter and energy equation is that of the ability of the living things to exploit matter and energy to their advantage in support of their own individualistic existence.
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? THE MAN CAN DESCRIBE THE REALITY OF EARTH’S MOTIONS FOR HE HAS NO DIRECT SENSORY AWARENESS OF THE SPEED OF EARTH. FROM THE APPARENT MOTIONS OF STARS THE MAN RECOGNIZES THE REALITY BUT STILL NEEDS THE ILLUSION TO SYNCHRONIZE HIS BIOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS WITH ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES CALLED DAY AND NIGHT.
I respectfully acknowledge their contributions and there are several others who had verified the information provided by them. However, it may be noted that none of those contributors are physicians and their primary concern is not about the problems of human existence. For man is a mortal being, there is no escape from the problems of aging, and longevity. Man exists with a life-span, and has a lifetime which is measured by the time interval between two events that cause a significant environmental change that the human body recognizes as if it is operated by a precise clock. Of all the motions that I described, to account for the problems of human existence, I have to examine the spinning motion of Earth around its own axis. All other celestial motions are relevant but my life’s journey on planet Earth is impacted by Earth’s spinning motion. In Medical Science, we recognize Vital Functions, Vital Operations, and Vital Principles. A physicist has not accounted for any of the Vital Functions that govern or rule or regulate the human existence. So, at a fundamental level, to understand the issues that involve human existence, we need a method of inquiry that a physicist may not use.
I am asking my readers to learn to make the distinction between mechanical actions and intelligent actions. We need to separate mechanical operations from vital operations. There is the difference between mechanical performance and intelligent performance. People make the distinction between Transitive Action and Immanent Action. The action performed by an inert body on another inert body is called Transitive Action. In contrast, Immanent Action perfects the agent that performs the action. To establish life, in the performance of the vital, living functions, the agent is perfected by its own actions such as growing, sensing, understanding, and developing. For example, heating is a Transitive Action for the hot thing loses its own heat. In the performance of Vital Functions and Intelligent Actions, the results of action remain in the agent to provide some benefit, advantage, or purpose. The term purposiveness describes actions that are guided to achieve a future end and it includes the selection or the choice of means to accomplish or obtain the desired goal.
The word ‘animal’ is derived from Latin name for “SOUL” the Vital Principle of animation. It helps to divide Matter into two kinds; animate, and inanimate, living, and nonliving, sensible, and insensible, or Physical Matter, and Living Matter. The biological property called consciousness describes the difference between Vital Powers and the Capacities of inert or Physical Matter. Consciousness describes the difference between animate and inanimate things. Consciousness accounts for the power of Self-Nutrition ( In Physiology, called ‘NUTRITION’), which is the original Power the possession of which leads us to speak of things as living or nonliving. Apart from Physics, Biology demands explanation for knowing Matter, Energy, and Motions of Objects. The Laws of Physics cannot account for the correct understanding of Vital Powers, Vital Functions, Vital Operations that are based on Intelligent Actions.
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? THE DIVINE SONG, THE BHAGAVAD GITA, CHAPTER VII, VERSE #25 EXPLAINS: “I AM NOT MANIFEST TO EVERYONE, BEING VEILED BY MY ILLUSORY POTENCY IN THE EXTERNAL ENERGY. THE IGNORANT IN THE WORLD CANNOT UNDERSTAND ME, THE UNBORN AND IMPERISHABLE.”
In the Divine Song popularly known as The Bhagavad Gita, Chapter VII, verse #25, Lord Krishna speaks to Prince Arjuna: “Naham prakasah sarvasya Yoga-Maya-samavrtah; Mudho’ yam nabhijanati loko mam ajam avyayam.” “I am never manifest to the foolish and unintelligent. For them I am covered by My eternal creative potency (“MAYA”) and so the deluded world knows Me not, who am unborn and infallible.”
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? OR LORD MAHA VISHNU DO? THE MAN’S PHYSICAL EXISTENCE ON THE SURFACE OF A FAST, SPINNING CELESTIAL OBJECT DEMANDS THE OPERATION OF FORCE/POWER/ENERGY THAT CAN IMPOSE ITS VEIL AND DEFEND THE MAN FROM EXPERIENCING THE REALITY OF MOTIONS THAT ARE INHERENTLY POWERFUL AND MAKE EARTH AN INHOSPITABLE PLACE. IF MAN NEEDS LIGHT AND ITS ENERGY, MAN EQUALLY NEEDS DARKNESS OR NIGHT FOR SLEEP AND REST.
The scientific method of inquiry is relevant to understand certain aspects of Matter, Energy, and Motion. There is an aspect of human existence that is operated by the Force of Grand Illusion(“MAYA”) and this existence is not accounted by the realities of the world and the universe in which man finds his existence without any choice of his own. To account for this human existence which needs the operation of illusion, I make my inquiry using “DEVOTION” as my tool or method to investigate the problem.
MADHU, MADHAVI, AND MADHURYA:
WHAT WOULD KRISHNA DO? IN THE INDIAN TRADITION LORD GOD IS THE CONTROLLER OF THE FORCE AND HAS A MASCULINE IDENTITY AND THE FORCE IS DESCRIBED AS HIS CONSORT WITH A FEMININE IDENTITY. GODDESS MADHAVI IS THE CONSORT OF LORD MADHAVA (THE LORD OF SPRING SEASON WHICH BRINGS A SENSE OF JOY AND SWEETNESS). THE WORD MADHAVI IS DERIVED FROM MADHU WHICH DESCRIBES SUGAR, WINE (FERMENTED SUGAR) AND NECTAR. WHEN MADHAVI IS KNOWN AS FORCE/POWER/ENERGY, ITS APPLICATION IS KNOWN BY THE SENSATION IT IMPARTS, THE SENSATION OF SWEETNESS CALLED MADHURYA, JOY, OR BLISS.
Sugar, alcohol and sweetness are related terms. Photoreception is the basis for Photosynthesis and it always performs a creative action to produce sugars and other plant products. We often miss the point about the creative generation of sugars. Madhavi symbolizes a person associated with this creative power that is involved in the generation or production of sugar (the fermented liquid, wine or alcohol is called Madhu) and it is easily identified by the taste sensation it imparts. In other words, the creative power, potency can be physically experienced using the taste sensation. Creation is not an abstract idea. The man experiences the fact of creation using the five organs of sense perception.
When I write about Man as a Spiritual Being, the concern is not about glorifying people as saints. The issue is about man’s true or real nature. My theory of Spirituality is about “The Art of Knowing” that can provide tools to all people to know themselves in an objective manner. This is a simple challenge that can be accomplished without forcing people to attend Church or any other place of worship. The Art of Knowing does not involve what most people tend to recognize as spiritual practices such as Prayer, Meditation, Yoga, or Mysticism. The Art of Knowing simply involves training people to know what they know about others or about themselves. It must be noted that Life is essentially a state, a condition, or an act of knowing.
WHOLE INTUITION VS WHOLE MYSTICISM :
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING : HENRI BERGSON(1859 – 1941), FRENCH PHILOSOPHER, WAS AWARDED THE 1927 NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE . HE DESCRIBED INTUITION AS THE HIGHEST FORM OF KNOWING.
Henri Bergson, French philosopher, Professor at the College de France, was awarded the 1927 Nobel Prize in Literature. His famous works include Time and Free Will(1889) and The Creative Mind(1934). Bergson’s dualistic philosophy holds that the world contains two opposing tendencies, the life force and the resistance of matter against that life force. The individual knows matter through intellect but through intuition perceives the life force and the reality of time, which is not a unit of measurement but duration in terms of life experience. Bergson considered intuition to be the highest state of human knowing and held that mysticism is the perfection of intuition. Bergson emphasized the value of intuition in scientific thinking and argued that reality is beyond rational understanding. He formulated a Theory of Knowledge in which intuition plays a central role. He contended that the expansive and creative thrust of Life explained by Darwinian mechanism. Bergson claimed that ‘Evolution’ is creative and is not based upon mechanistic principles. For similar reasons, I shared my arguments to oppose Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. I formulated my theory of ‘The Law of Creation and Individuality’ for all known living things primarily exist as Individuals with Individuality and they have no choice other than that of existing as Individuals. In this article, I would like to recognize knowing as a basic cognitive function and this biological characteristic can be attributed to a popular term called ‘Spirit’ or ‘Soul’. In this context, I would like to interpret Bergson’s views about Knowing, Intuition, Mysticism, and the Reality of Time.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING : HOW DO PLANTS KNOW WHAT THEY KNOW ??? PLANTS KNOW ABOUT LIGHT, THE LENGTH OF DAY, AND THE DURATION OF DARKNESS CALLED NIGHT. THERE IS NO “INTELLECT” INVOLVED IN THIS PROCESS OF KNOWING. THE ABILITY OF KNOWING LIGHT OR PHOTORECEPTION IS EXPLAINED BY PHOTOCHEMISTRY.
Intuition provides immediate understanding and it describes the ability to perceive or know things without conscious reasoning. Intuition is about direct knowing or learning of something without using the faculties of mind such as Intellect. The doctrine of Intuitionism claims that things and principles are truly apprehended by Intuition. The doctrine called Ethics describes that fundamental moral principles or the rightness of acts is apprehended by Intuition. In Biology, I would like to use the term Intuition to things apprehended by ‘Innate Knowledge’, the Knowledge that is inherent and not acquired, the Knowledge that is implanted in the Substance or Material called Living Matter. Plants know Light not because of intellectual ability but on account of an innate ability or intuitive power.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING : AT A FUNDAMENTAL LEVEL, LIFE AND LIVING IS ABOUT KNOWING MATTER AS SELF OR NON-SELF. THIS IDENTIFICATION OF MATTER INVOLVES THE ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE MOLECULES OF MATTER . TO LEARN THE ART OF KNOWING, MAN HAS TO KNOW ABOUT THE MOLECULAR BASIS FOR EXISTENCE .
To learn the Art of Knowing, man has to know that the physiological basis for existence is dependent upon Innate Knowledge with which the human organism recognizes matter( such as molecules of Oxygen, or energy-yielding molecules of food substances) and further exploits matter and energy to support and maintain its living functions. To the same extent, the human organism defends its own existence by recognizing the molecules as Self or Non-Self. The immune defense mechanisms that the human body uses to recognize viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and other foreign antigens involve the recognition of molecules.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING : WHAT IS THE MYSTERY OF LIFE ??? CAN MYSTICISM HELP TO KNOW THE HIDDEN TRUTHS ABOUT LIFE ??? WHAT IS THE MYSTICAL INFLUENCE OF TIME THAT DRIVES THE AGING PHENOMENON ???
What is the Mystery of Life ??? Can Mysticism help to know the hidden truths about Life ??? Mysticism is the doctrine about knowing reality through intense contemplation and other secret practices that involve mental concentration. Mysticism is found in several religions of the world. The criteria and conditions for mystical experience vary depending on the cultural traditions, but there are three common attributes of Mysticism : 1. The experience is immediate and overwhelming, divorced from the common experience of reality, 2. The experience or the knowledge imparted by it is self-authenticating, without need of further evidence or justification, and 3. The experience is ineffable, its essence incapable of being expressed or understood outside the experience itself. The focus of Mysticism is not about the physical reality called existence but it is about a direct and immediate experience of the sacred, or the knowledge derived from such an experience. Mysticism is about the practices of those who are initiated into the mysteries, the practice of putting oneself into direct relation with God, the Absolute or any Unifying Principle of Life. Mystics believe that it is possible to achieve communion with God through their mystic practices. There are two general tendencies in the practice of Mysticism; 1. To regard God as outside the ‘Soul’ which rises to God by successive stages, and 2. To regard God as dwelling within the ‘Soul’ to be found by delving deeper into one’s own reality. Mysticism is extended to Magic, Occultism, and the Esoteric. Magic may involve the use of charms, spells, and rituals in seeking or pretending to cause or control events or govern certain natural and supernatural forces. Occultism is about hidden, concealed, and secret information that could be beyond human understanding. The Esoteric is about confidential, private, or withheld information that is intended for or understood by only a chosen few and as such the knowledge or information is beyond the understanding of most people. The rituals of Mysticism include meditation, prayer, and a variety of ascetic disciplines. If Mysticism is about Knowing the Secrets of Life, it does not demand the learning of Human Anatomy or Human Physiology, or any of the principles of Biology.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING : HOW DOES THE HUMAN ORGANISM KNOWS ABOUT ITS OWN LIFETIME ??? THE AGING PHENOMENON IS RELATED TO MAN’S PERCEPTION OF TIME. HOW IS TIME CONTROLLING OR OPERATING LIFE EXPERIENCE ???
Bergson claimed that the Reality of Time is not a Unit of Measurement but duration in terms of life experience. How does the human organism knows about its own lifetime??? The human organism experiences the Aging Phenomenon which is related to man’s perception of Time. How is Time controlling or operating life experience ??? The physical reality called existence is controlled, is operated, or is directly influenced by events in man’s external environment, and the most important change in the environment is the alternating periods of light and darkness called Day and Night.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING : THE HUMAN ORGANISM RUNS ITS LIVING FUNCTIONS AS IF OPERATED BY A PRECISE TIMEKEEPING DEVICE OR BIOLOGICAL CLOCK. MAN’S EXPERIENCE OF TIME IS RELATED TO SUN’S APPARENT MOTIONS IN THE SKY. MAN KNOWS THE REALITY OF TIME BECAUSE OF AN ILLUSION THAT CAUSES DAY AND NIGHT GIVING MAN THE PERCEPTION OF SUN’S APPARENT MOTION WHILE CONCEALING THE REALITY OF SUN’S MOTION IN THE MILKY WAY GALAXY.
Bergson may have used the term life force to describe the vital, animating Principle called Spirit or Soul. In my view, Soul is an animating Principle for it is fundamentally related to the functional ability called Knowing. Soul is a vital Principle for it is fundamentally related to the functional ability called Nutrition, the power of a living organism to exploit matter found in its external environment. The functional attributes of Soul are related to Knowledge that is inherent or Innate and not acquired as learned experience. Soul describes man’s intuitive ability to know the fact of his own existence in a given environment and to maintain that existence while experiencing the aging process under the external influence called Time.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING : BLAISE PASCAL(1623 – 1662), FRENCH SCIENTIST AND RELIGIOUS PHILOSOPHER CLAIMED THAT MAN IS INFINITELY REMOVED FROM COMPREHENDING THE EXTREMES ; THE END OF THINGS AND THEIR BEGINNINGS ARE HIDDEN .
While writing about The Art of Knowing, I would like to remind my readers that certain things could be hidden from the human perception and man has no ability to know things even if he knows the reality of those things. Blaise Pascal, the French scientist who founded the modern Theory of Probability had claimed : “Man is a nothing in comparison with the Infinite, an All in comparison with the Nothing, a mean between Nothing and Everything. Since he is infinitely removed from comprehending the extremes, the end of things and their beginnings are hopelessly hidden from him in an impenetrable secret; he is equally incapable of seeing the Nothing from which he was made, and the Infinite in which he swallowed up.”
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE ART OF KNOWING : WHICH HAS COME FIRST ??? THE CHICK OR THE EGG ??? SPIRITUALITY IS NOT ABOUT KNOWING THE BEGINNING OR THE ENDING OF THINGS. IT IS ABOUT THINGS THAT EXIST IN THE PRESENT.
Which came first, the Chick or the Egg ??? Spirituality Science is not about knowing the Beginning or the Ending of things. Spirituality is about things that exist in the ‘Present’. The Physical Reality of Man’s Subjective and Objective experience of his lifetime is a functional attribute of Soul or Spirit which gives Man the cognitive ability called Knowing . If Devotion is used as a scientific method of Inquiry, ‘The Art of Knowing’ is about Knowing Man as a Spiritual Being.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE: THE GREAT MYSTERY OF CHIDAMBARAM – “CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM”:
What is the Greatest Mystery about Man and his Earthly Existence? Man has a Physical Form and Appearance that can be easily recognized by any observer. But, man’s Life has Mental, Social, and Moral Dimensions that can establish man’s identity and essence in terms of Mental, Social, and Moral Being. The Mystery is about man’s Spiritual Dimension. If man is a Spiritual Being, how can we investigate and explore the Spiritual Dimension of man’s Life? How can we prove that man has a Spirit or Soul? We have a fairly good understanding of man’s Physical Form and its earthly mortal existence. Does man exclusively belong to the Earthly or Immanent Realm? Does man have an existence in a Realm other than Earthly Realm? How can an Earthly Being enter the ‘Transcendental Realm’? If Earth is a Material Realm, is there an Immaterial Realm’ where the Beings exist without Physical Matter or a physical Form with Appearance? Both God, and man are manifested on Earth with a Form and Appearance that can be easily recognized and described. And yet, there is something that is unknown about the Spiritual Form and Appearance of both God, and man in an extraterrestrial realm. I would like to invite my readers to visit CHIDAMBARAM in India to explore the Mysteries of Human Life and Human Existence.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE: IN BOTH CHRISTIAN AND INDIAN TRADITIONS, EARTH IS THOUGHT TO BE THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. IN INDIA, CHIDAMBARAM IS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. THE PLACE IS VIEWED AS THE CENTRE OF GEOMAGNETIC EQUATOR OF PLANET EARTH. THE GREEN HORIZONTAL LINE REPRESENTS THE GEOMAGNETIC EQUATOR.
Chidambaram, South Arcot District, Tamil Nadu State, southeastern India is the Center of the Universe as per Indian tradition and the local legends or the “PURANA” of this historical City which has the famous early Chola Dynasty 2nd century B.C. bronze idols. The name “CHIDAMBARAM” is derived from Tamil words, Chitt meaning wisdom, and Ampalam meaning atmosphere. The Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, known as Lord Nataraja or Lord of Dance, is in Chidambaram. The purpose of Lord’s manifestation in Chidambaram is that of showing the way for man’s release from bondage to ignorance as man is trapped under the powerful influence of Illusion which controls man’s earthly existence. Chidambaram may provide man with the necessary Knowledge and Wisdom to recognize all the Dimensions of Life and verify if man could be a Spiritual Being who may have the potential ability to exist in a Transcendental Realm apart from the transient or ephemeral earthly existence which is operated by a Natural Law that demands the death of everything that is born or arrived on Earth.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: LORD SHIVA KNOWN AS LORD NATARAJA IS THE PRESIDING DEITY AT CHIDAMBARAM WHICH IS VIEWED AS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. IT COULD BE AT THE CENTER OF EARTH’S GEOMAGNETIC EQUATOR. THE PURPOSE OF LORD’S MANIFESTATION AT CHIDAMBARAM IS THAT OF SHOWING THE WAY FOR MAN’S RELEASE FROM BONDAGE TO IGNORANCE.
Chidambaram is a place of interest for it may have the clue to a hidden or concealed truth. It is often described as “CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM” or the Mystery of Chidambaram. Lord Shiva has physically manifested at this place to remove man’s ignorance and to utterly destroy man’s forgetfulness and heedlessness. Man exists leading a conditioned Existence that is fundamentally formulated by the experience of Cosmic Illusion. This blog post examines ‘Chidambara Rahasyam’ or the Great Mystery of Chidambaram and it explains that the Illusion is generated by the fundamental distinction between Essence and Existence.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE: CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM – THE GREAT MYSTERY OF CHIDAMBARAM. LORD NATARAJA DESTROYS MAN’S IGNORANCE TO RELEASE MAN FROM THE INFLUENCE OF COSMIC ILLUSION.
Lord Nataraja, Lord of Dance is seen dancing on the figure of a dwarf, the person is named ‘Apasmarapurusha’. The word “PURUSHA” means man. The word “APASMARA” means forgetfulness, lack of memory, heedlessness that leads to mental ignorance. The “ignorance” refers to man’s alienation or separation from Knowledge about his true or real nature and man basically exists in a condition of Ignorance due to the lack of understanding about his true or real-self and the world and the universe in which he exists. Lord Shiva is the source and the Cause of all movements or motions in the Cosmos. In Physics, the Cause of Motion is not explained and is not discussed. While Physics formulates the Laws that govern the motions of material bodies, Physics cannot account for the phenomenon of Motion that can be observed among the Living Bodies. Life exists in a constant state or condition of motion, and at the same time, the Living Thing is constantly driven towards a destination called ‘Death’ when the motions that are characteristic of Life cease to exist. This arrest of motions of Life is accompanied by a dissolution of the Physical Form and Appearance of the Individual Living Thing. The purpose of Lord Nataraja’s Cosmic Dance is that of releasing man from his attachment to ‘Form” and “Appearance” that shapes man’s ideas of his own Identity. Man describes his Essence visualizing his Identity that is derived from Form and Appearance. To understand the nature of true Identity, man has to explore the basis for the condition called Existence. At Chidambaram, man is encouraged to explore and investigate Existence by drawing inspiration from the Form and Appearance of Lord Nataraja and His Cosmic Dance. The gestures of the Dance represent Lord Nataraja’s five activities called “PANCHA KRITYA”; 1. Creation, 2. Protection, 3. Destruction, 4. Embodiment, and 5. Release. Man ultimately needs LORD God’s Compassion for the ultimate Release from his bondage or Conditioned Existence. To explain the reason for this Dependence upon LORD God’s Mercy, Grace, and Compassion, I suggest the use of ‘Devotion’ as a valid method of Scientific Inquiry.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE: IN INDIAN TRADITION, GOD EXISTS IN BOTH TRANSCENDENTAL REALM AND IMMANENT REALM. WHEN GOD IS PHYSICALLY MANIFESTED ON EARTH, IT WILL BE CORRECT TO CLAIM THAT EARTH IS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. LORD NATARAJA’S BIG TOE IN THIS TEMPLE IS THOUGHT TO BE AT THE CENTER OF EARTH’S GEOMAGNETIC EQUATOR.
In Indian tradition, it is explained that God exists in both Transcendental Realm and Immanent Realm. Hindu Scripture, “ISA UPANISHAD” that comments on “SHUKLA YAJUR VEDA” in verses 12 to 14 makes the following recommendation: “He who knows at the same time both the unmanifested and the manifested, he crosses over death through Knowledge of the manifested and attains immortality through the Knowledge of the Invisible Absolute.” It is very important to know and understand LORD God as a Physical Being that has fully manifested on Earth. If LORD GOD is physically manifested on Earth, it will be correct to claim that Earth is at the Center of the Universe. From a human perspective, the center of activity is planet Earth for Life seems to be very unique or special to this small planet in the vast universe made of stuff called Physical Matter.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE: THE GOLDEN TILES COVERING THE ROOF OF LORD NATARAJA’S TEMPLE IN CHIDAMBARAM INSPIRE US TO REFLECT UPON ESSENCE OR FORM, AND APPEARANCE AND ITS DISTINCTION FROM EXISTENCE.
The roof of Lord Nataraja’s temple in Chidambaram is adorned with golden tiles and it inspires man to reflect upon the distinction between Essence and Existence. What is Essence? What is Existence? We can describe the ‘Essence'(What you are) by attaching a variety of names. Man may describe his Essence in a number of ways which may include references to his physical or morphological appearance, age, sex, ethnicity, race, language, religion, culture, region or national identity, education, occupation, social or political affiliation and other attributes like achievements and accomplishments. It is important to know the attributes of the Physical Elements that constitute the Living Matter using which man develops all the structures of his physical body. Man’s Physical Being experiences the problem of mortality, whereas the Physical Elements of his body are imperishable, indestructible, immutable, immortal, eternal, and even could be considered to be “UNBORN.”
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: ADI SHANKARACHARYA FOUNDED THE INDIAN SCHOOL OF THOUGHT KNOWN AS NON-DUALISM OR ADVAITA. HE HAD VERY FORCEFULLY CLAIMED THAT HIS PHYSICAL BODY AND MIND DOES NOT DESCRIBE HIS TRUE IDENTITY. HE LAID A GREAT EMPHASIS ON IMMORTAL AND ETERNAL EXISTENCE.
Adi Shankaracharya founded the Indian School of Thought known as ‘Advaita’ or Non-Dualism. He vehemently opposed the idea of attaching his Identity to his physical body or mind. He had formulated a view about his true or real Identity that basically excludes all the four types of mental functions, the Five Elements of Nature, the five organs of Sense Perception. He made an attempt to overcome the problem of transient Existence that makes man a Mortal Being. Shankara forces people to avoid using Form and Appearance to describe Identity or Essence as they are not constant and keep changing all the time. Shankara demands total perfection while stating his real Identity. That perfection is characterized by Immortal or Eternal Existence. Man’s existence in the world is of varying durations called Lifetime and this Life-Span is a product of his conditioned existence. Shankara attached utmost importance to Everlasting Existence and in the context of that Everlasting Existence, he calls himself “SHIVA.” While I truly appreciate Shankara’s insistence about man’s existence in a Transcendental Realm, we may have to still account for man’s earthly journey. In man’s earthly life, the ‘Essence’ is not recognized until the thing called man begins existing. The thing called “I” is recognized and is known if, and only if it begins to exist; and “I” that exists can be stated as “I AM”, the “I” as an existing being. It must be noted that the fact of Existence always precedes Essence. In the statement, “Aham Brahma”,(“I AM BRAHMA, THE ULTIMATE REALITY”), or “SHIVO AHAM” (I AM SHIVA) the thing called “I” is not Brahma or Shiva. The statements such as “Aham Brahma” and “ShivO Aham” would be wrong if they do not qualify that the thing called “I” is in existence and is specifically known as “Aham” or “I Am.” The term ‘Brahma’ or ‘Shiva’ is perfect and complete in all of its aspects as it is the basis for both Essence and Existence. Hence the word ‘Brahma’ or ‘Shiva’ brings unity between matter, energy, and the physical form constituted by Physical Elements that have the attributes like imperishability or indestructibility.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: LORD KRISHNA IN THE DIVINE SONG CALLED THE BHAGAVAD GITA EXPLAINS THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE. HE EXPLAINS THE POWERFUL INFLUENCE CALLED “COSMIC ILLUSION” OR “MAYA” WHICH CAN BLOCK MAN’S PERCEPTION ABOUT HIS TRUE OR REAL SELF.
Lord Krishna in the Divine Song called The Bhagavad Gita explains the distinction between Essence and Existence. He explains the powerful influence called “Cosmic Illusion” or “MAYA” which can block man’s perception about his true or real Self. Lord Krishna in Chapter X, Vibhuti – Vistara Yoga, verse 39, claims, “I am the generating seed of all existences. There is no being, moving or unmoving(Chara -Acharam) that can exist without Me.” The term ‘atman’ and ‘Paramatman’ must be used in the context of Existence and not that of Subjective Essence that involves the thing called “I.” Lord Krishna gave this clarification to explain that the fact of Subjective Essence by which various kinds of Living Things are known do exist for they all share a common, or undivided Principle that is Imperishable and establishes the fact of Existence as a Physical Reality. The Bhagavad Gita, Chapter XVIII, Moksha-Opadesa Yoga, verse 20:
The knowledge of one who sees in every living entity, though divided into innumerable forms, one undivided spiritual nature, that knowledge is to be understood as being in the mode of Goodness. One undivided, imperishable reality is seen within all diverse living entities.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: LORD SHIVA’S ESSENCE IN THIS IMAGE IS DESCRIBED AS “ARDHANARISHWARA”, HALF-MALE AND HALF-FEMALE, A PERFECT UNION OF MATTER, ENERGY, AND THE ENERGY CONTROLLER.
Apart from all the diversity among the numerous living entities, the LORD God Shiva manifests Himself in a variety of Forms and each Appearance has its own reason, and serves a specific purpose.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: LORD GOD SHIVA HAS PHYSICALLY MANIFESTED HIMSELF ON EARTH DURING DIFFERENT TIME PERIODS OR YUGAS FOR SPECIFIC REASONS TO SERVE A SPECIFIC PURPOSE FOR EACH APPEARANCE. AS LORD NEELAKANTHA, HE SAVED HUMANITY FROM THE DANGER POSED BY AN EXTREMELY NOXIOUS SUBSTANCE.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: LORD SHIVA OFTEN CALLED LORD GOD “MAHESHWARA” IS THE PROTECTOR, AND CONTRIBUTES THE MENTAL EXPERIENCE OF EQUANIMITY AND BLISS.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: LORD SHIVA AND GODDESS PARVATI MANIFEST THEMSELVES AS EMBODIMENT OF ALL VIRTUES AND BESTOW THEIR MERCY, GRACE, AND COMPASSION THROUGH THIS APPEARANCE.
All different forms of life including persons whom we may call Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, and Prince Arjuna or Partha are to be known because of that imperishable Principle(avyayam) that is chiefly concerned with Existence, and thus there is unity or oneness while the thing called “I” is variable.

Krishna says ‘i’ am Krishna. Parth says ‘i’ am Parth, This means, ‘i’ is Krishna and Parth both, but Krishna and Parth differ. Krishna carefully says ‘i’ am Parth and Parth is ‘i’ .

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: THE MANDUKYA UPANISHAD SPEAKS ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP OR CONNECTION BETWEEN SOUL AND THE PERFECT ENTITY CALLED BRAHMAN WHICH COULD BE INVISIBLE OR UNMANIFESTED.
We may try to interpret verse #17, Chapter II, Sankhya Yoga of The Bhagavad Gita. It says the imperishable, or indestructible soul pervades or permeates(“tatam”) the entire physical body. The soul or atma is spread all over the body or influences the entire body, or the symptom of soul or atma is present in all the parts of the body. In Chapter XIII, Kshetra – Kshetrajna Vibhaga Yoga, verse 34 says that, Just like Sun who illuminates the entire world, the soul within the body illuminates the entire field of activity of the physical body by consciousness. Hence, consciousness is the proof or symptom of the presence of the soul or atma. For the soul is present, we can show respect to the feet or the toe as the Essence illuminates it and thereby we recognize that the part is present. In other words, I am trying to suggest that we may not search for Atma or Paramatma in our minds or brains, it is simple and easier to find it in the feet with an attitude called devotion.

Rudra means explosion and this explosion of param atma makes the two jivatma and Prakriti which means shiv and Parvati. These two are actually one but appear as two or Rudra in dance firm called manifested universe or samsara or tandav.
Prakriti is law bound and called mind and body and atma or spirit is free but focus at its goal called bhakti. These two opposites are like car and driver where car is law bound nature and driver is goal oriented atma shiv.
In bhakti the tandav dance of Shiva Parvati or Rudra becomes araudra or peace and this is yoga or bhakti or inseparable state.
Bhakti is goal of Shiva in Rudra state to become peaceful or araudra state.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – ESSENCE AND EXISTENCE – CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM: IN INDIAN TRADITION, DEVOTION OR BHAKTI IS A VALID METHOD OF INQUIRY TO KNOW THE MANIFESTED, AND THE INVISIBLE OR UNMANIFESTED ABSOLUTE TRUTH.
I am addressing the problem or concern about separating body from mind. When I write about the experience of Ananda and Krupa, I am stating that there is unity between the Spirit, mind, and body without which the experience is impossible. If Krupa is a divine manifestation of power and energy, man has the ability to experience the uplift it provides for it uplifts both body, and mind. To same extent, Bhakti or Devotion is an experience that involves the Spirit, mind, and body. I cannot perform any devotional service if there is no unity between the Spirit, mind, and body. In fact, Indian tradition suggests that Bhakti is a method of Inquiry to experience the Reality while the Reality is not known to the organs of sense perception.

Kripa is giving unconditionally and without restrictions and without obligation. Recover of krioa cannot expect or imagine it because lord is kind without any measure. Your Sanskrit verse is a perfect statement.

IN INDIAN TRADITION, THE NAME RAMA IS THE PERSONIFICATION OF THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH OR THE ULTIMATE REALITY. LORD RAMA IS THE SOURCE OF KRUPA OR COMPASSION FOR HE HAD THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE JOURNEY IN HIS PHYSICAL MANIFESTATION AS A HUMAN BEING.
The four aspects of mental activity are described as Manah, Chitta, Buddhi, and Ahamkara. Chitta is the function associated with Krupa, Karuna, or Daya. But, the experience of Krupa is not a mere mental experience. The experience is shared by the entire body. It is not a simple subjective experience. It is an objective experience that can be verified by an independent observer.
The hymn suggests that the experience called Krupa is Great for it can give the ability of communication to the mute, and the disabled person can cross over obstacles such as mountains. The Lord known as Madhava is specifically described as the fountain of eternal bliss and joy. The idea is, when a person experiences Krupa or Compassion, the experience comes with a sense of joy and happiness. Very often, we get a chance to personally experience the reality of Krupa. When we recognize the experience called pain, and suffering in the lives of others, it evokes an instinctual response of kindness and compassion that practically helps us to provide physical assistance to the person who is experiencing pain, and misery. That feeling of compassion is powerful and is very uplifting and it gives the necessary energy and stamina to perform a challenging task with much ease and no strain. During natural calamities, we witness people coming out to give assistance and help to total strangers and work tirelessly. The entire human body is transformed. The provider of help, and the recipient of help experience a sense of joy when actions are performed under the influence of Krupa.

Apart from matter and energy, we have to account for ‘experience’. There is an entity who has the experience of the various manifestations of matter and energy. Man studies matter and energy for he has this ability called experience. Mechanics, Statics, Dynamics, Acoustics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Electricity, Magnetism, gravitation and others are of interest for they are involved in giving man the experience called ‘equilibrium’ while he is at rest or in motion. While a number of varied forces are acting on man, the experience called ‘Ananda’ or Bliss, or Joy is possible because of the operation of a Fundamental Force that can be called ‘Love’. But, Love is a force that cannot be expressed as a mathematical formula or equation and cannot be experimentally verified for it cannot be measured to ascertain its quantity in numbers. In Indian tradition, God is called Sat, Chit, Ananda. The reality called Energy will have no relevance or importance if there is no experience of the same.

Matter is the stuff with which this universe is made. In science, matter is studied as elements, simple mixtures and compounds. In Indian tradition, we describe spirit or soul as immutable, imperishable, immortal, unborn, and even uncreated( for man has not created any kind of matter or spirit). The thing called Spirit or Soul is Divine because of those attributes. To the same extent, matter has divine attributes. Matter is immutable, imperishable, immortal, unborn, and uncreated. We know that planet Earth has existed for a very long time and yet the elements retain their essence without any change. Life is existing on Earth for billions of years for the elements have the divine attributes just like the spirit and soul. When we say that the body is perishable or when we say that man is a mortal being, we are simply speaking about the form that we recognize as a specific thing. The matter that constitutes the form escapes death and mortality.

It is simply incorrect to claim that the human body has nine apertures. For example, the body has millions of pores or apertures through which secretions like sweat, and sebum are excreted. Human body cannot maintain its body temperature(thermoregulation) if these pores are absent. In fact, there are people who suffer on account of problems associated with these openings. There is no merit in making unwanted comparisons with human body. Breathing is a vital function and the rate of respiration is a highly variable number and depends upon several factors including the environmental factors. It must be noted that Gold is a precious metal but that metal is useless and plays no role in human physiology. To that extent, iron is more important in the physiology of human respiration. Iron Deficiency can lead to disease and death. I would use Iron and not Gold if I want to make any connection between the structural element and human physiology. Similarly, there are numerous blood vessels and it would be silly to make a comparison without naming the vessels the architecture may represent. Then, the direction of flow and the specific relationships between the vessels becomes an issue. Kindly name those Nine Shastras and I would be surprised if the name Physics or Magnetism would be listed among those Nine.
In India, the traditions that relate to the worship of Lord Shiva have specific legends called ‘Sthala Puranas’, the story that is related to the specific geographical location. All the Jyotir Lingas are known by their stories. Chidambaram has its own story and the story is not about magnetism or electromagnetism.

The Vedas meaning Knowledge teach Scientific Knowledge only. And our people, such as ऋषि-मुनी and आचार्य have expounded all science in clear terms for people to follow. The Modern Science is now slowly confirming these facts. But they also have not ‘proved’ on their own everything that these great people have done. I do hope Modern Science will be able to reach the Vedic level of science soon enough, because Modern Science by their ‘inventions’ and Discoveries’ have created so much pollution in the environment as well as soil that we may not be able to sustain life on the planet for very long. The Scientists however as yet not understanding this position and polluting the earth more and more by their Scientific offers to man.
Scientists like Prof Einstein and now Prof Fridtjof Capra did express their faith in Vedas and Hindu शास्त्र and उपनिषद् and Prof Capra has started revealing the contents in the scientific manner since last 20 years.

Subject: Chidambram Temple
After 8 years of R & D, Western scientists have realized that at Lord Nataraja ‘s big toe is the Centre Point of World ‘s Magnetic Equator.
Our ancient Tamil Scholar Thirumoolar has proved this Five thousand years ago!
His treatise Thirumandiram is a wonderful Scientific guide for the whole world.
To understand his studies, it may need a 100 years for us.
Chidambaram temple embodies the following characteristics :
1) This temple is at the Center Point of world 's Magnetic Equator.
2) Of the "Pancha bootha" i.e. 5 temples, Chidambaram denotes the Skies. Kalahasthi denotes Wind. Kanchi Ekambareswar denotes land. All these 3 temples are in a straight line at 79 degrees 41 minutes Longitude. This can be verified using Google. An amazing fact & astronomical miracle !
3) Chidambaram temple is based on the Human Body having 9 Entrances denoting 9 Entrances or Openings of the body.
4) Temple roof is made of 21600 gold sheets which denotes the 21600 breaths taken by a human being every day (15 x 60 x 24 = 21600)
5) These 21600 gold sheets are fixed on the Gopuram using 72000 gold nails which denote the total no. of Nadis (Nerves) in the human body. These transfer energy to certain body parts that are invisible.
6) Thirumoolar states that man represents the shape of Shivalingam, which represents Chidambaram which represents Sadashivam which represents HIS dance !
7) "Ponnambalam " is placed slightly tilted towards the left. This represents our Heart. To reach this, we need to climb 5 steps called "Panchatshara padi "
"Si, Va, Ya, Na, Ma " are the 5 Panchatshara mantras.
There are 4 pillars holding the Kanagasabha representing the 4 Vedas.
8) Ponnambalam has 28 pillars denoting the 28 "Ahamas "as well as the 28 methods to worship Lord Shiva. These 28 pillars support 64 +64 Roof Beams which denote the 64 Arts. The cross beams represent the Blood Vessels running across the Human body.
9) 9 Kalasas on the Golden Roof represent the 9 types of Shakti or Energies.
The 6 pillars at the Artha Mantapa represent the 6 types of Sashtras.
The 18 pillars in the adjacent Mantapa represents 18 Puranas.
10) The dance of Lord Nataraja is described as Cosmic Dance by Western Scientists.
Whatever Science is propounding now has been stated by Hindu Scriptures thousands of years ago!
WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: WE NEED TO REVOLUTIONIZE THE INTERPRETATION OF SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORLD IN WHICH MAN FINDS HIS EXISTENCE. TO BEGIN, HAVE A COOKIE AND MILK BEFORE I TAKE YOU TO THE MILKY WAY. WHOLE TEAM MEMBERS WHO LIKE THIS BLOG POST AND LEAVE A COMMENT WILL RECEIVE THIS BOX AS A WHOLE REWARD.
We need to bring a new, ‘Whole Revolution’ in the reasoning process that we use to interpret the scientific information about the world and the universe in which man finds his existence. To begin, please have a Cookie and some milk before I launch you on a trip to the Milky Way, the Galaxy, our home in this vast universe of unknown dimensions.
THE MILKY WAY GALAXY – A TOUGH COOKIE TO CRUNCH:
WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: THE MILKY WAY GALAXY SYSTEM IS ONE OF BILLIONS OF GALAXIES THAT MAKE THE UNIVERSE. IT CONTAINS MORE THAN 100 BILLION STARS. THE SUN HAS A CIRCULAR ORBIT WHILE IT TAKES 200 MILLION YEARS TO REVOLVE ONCE AROUND THE GALAXY.
The Milky Way System is one of billions of Galaxies that make up the universe. It contains more than 100 billion stars.
WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: THE MILKY WAY SYSTEM IS A LARGE SPIRAL GALAXY, HAS A NUCLEUS SURROUNDED BY A LARGE CENTRAL BULGE WITH SPIRAL ARMS COILED AROUND IT.WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: THE ENTIRE MILKY WAY SYSTEM ROTATES AROUND THE GALACTIC CENTER. BUT, THE VARIOUS CONSTITUENT OBJECTS DO NOT ROTATE AT THE SAME VELOCITY. THE SUN MOVES AT A RELATIVELY LOW-SPEED.
The Sun is located near the inner edge of one of these spiral arms – the ‘Orion Arm’ – about two-thirds of the way from the center of the Galaxy. The galactic nucleus is at a distance of about 27, 000 to 30, 000 light years from the Sun. The entire Milky Way System rotates around the galactic center, but the various constituent objects do not rotate at the same velocity. Stars distant from the center travel at lower speeds than those closer to it. The Sun which is located relatively far from the nucleus, moves at an estimated speed of about 140 miles per second(225 kilometres/second) in a nearly circular orbit. Because of its relatively low velocity, the Sun’s period of revolution about the galactic center is approximately 230 million years.
WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: THE UNIVERSAL SYSTEM, AND THE UNIVERSAL ORDER MUST BE INTERPRETED IN THE CONTEXT OF MAN’S WORLD OF EXPERIENCE. IN MY VIEW, THE WORLD OF EXPERIENCE IS DETERMINED BY A PURPOSE; THE PURPOSE THAT ESTABLISHES THE PHYSICAL REALITY OF HUMAN EXISTENCE IN THE UNIVERSE THAT IS CONSTANTLY ON THE MOVE AT AN AMAZING SPEED.WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: THE SUN APPEARS EXTREMELY BRIGHT TO THE TERRESTRIAL OBSERVER ONLY BECAUSE IT IS THE STAR NEAREST THE EARTH. MY WORLD EXPERIENCE IS ENTIRELY SHAPED BY THIS BEAUTIFUL IMAGE SHOWING SUNRISE WHICH BEGINS A NEW DAY OF MY LIFE’S JOURNEY.
The Universal System, and the Universal Order has to be interpreted in the context of man’s world of experience. In my view, the world of experience is determined by a “PURPOSE”, the “PURPOSE” that establishes the physical reality of man’s existence in a universe that is on a constant move at varying degrees of amazing speeds. My world of experience is entirely shaped by tha above photo image of a beautiful Sunrise, the event that marks the beginning of a new day of my life’s journey.
WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: THE SUN CONVERTS 4, 000, 000 TONS OF MATTER INTO ENERGY EVERY SECOND. BUT, IT IS THE TRANSFORMATION OF THAT ENERGY WHICH ESTABLISHES THE FACT OF LIFE ON EARTH. THE CONVERSION OF ENERGY FROM LIGHT INTO CHEMICAL ENERGY SPEAKS OF A PURPOSE, THE PURPOSE IS THAT OF SUSTAINING ENERGY-DEPENDENT LIFE FORMS. THE SWEETNESS OF THE WHOLE COOKIE IS DERIVED FROM THE SUGARS MADE BY PHOTOSYNTHESIS.
The Sun converts 4, 000, 000 tons of matter into energy every second. But, it must be noted that it is the transformation of that energy which establishes the fact of life on Earth. The energy generated by Sun is first released as ‘Gamma Rays’, and this form of electromagnetic radiation is very harmful to life. The Gamma radiation released during energy production undergoes a considerable number of interactions with overlying material on its way to the Sun’s outer layer called Photosphere. It must be realized that it takes several hundreds of thousands of years for the degraded Gamma radiation to emerge mainly as visible light and infrared radiation. Photochemical reactions are chemical processes initiated by the absorption of energy in the form of visible, infrared or UV radiation. Photochemical processes are sometimes extremely efficient for the conversion of energy from light into chemical energy. For living systems, the single most important photochemical process is known as ‘Photosyntheis’. Chlorophyll refers to the green pigment found in plant cells and it is the most important of all biomolecules. Chlorophyll absorbs light energy most strongly in the blue portion of the electromagnetic spectrum followed by the red portion. This creative transformation of solar radiation into a new form of chemical energy can be simply recognized by tasting the products that it creates. The sweetness of the ‘Whole Cookie’ speaks of ‘The Magic of Creation’.
WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: THE APPARENT PATH TAKEN BY THE SUN IN THE CELESTIAL SPHERE IS MOST RELEVANT WORLD EXPERIENCE THAT SHAPES HUMAN EXISTENCE ON THE EARTH.
The term ‘Ecliptic’ refers to the great circle on the celestial sphere that lies in the plane of the Earth’s orbit. Because of the Earth’s yearly revolution around the Sun, the Sun appears to move in an annual journey along the ‘Ecliptic’.
WHOLE COOKIE – WHOLE REVOLUTION – WHOLE ECLIPTIC: THE ECLIPTIC DESCRIBES THE GREAT CIRCLE ON THE CELESTIAL SPHERE INTERSECTING THE CELESTIAL EQUATOR AND IT REPRESENTS THE CHANGING POSITION OF THE SUN WITH RESPECT TO THE BACKGROUND STARS AS SEEN FROM THE ORBITING EARTH DURING ONE YEAR IT HELPS MAN TO DETERMINE THE ONSET OF CHANGING SEASONS MARKED BY EVENTS LIKE VERNAL AND AUTUMNAL EQUINOX.
Immanuel Kant(1724-1804), German philosopher altered the nature of philosophic inquiry and he called his radical redefinition of philosophical problems and procedures a “COPERNICAN REVOLUTION.” As Copernicus reversed the way subsequent philosophers thought about the relationship of the Earth and the Sun, so Kant reversed the way subsequent philosophers thought about the relationship of the world of experience and the mind. The mind is not shaped by the world of experience, rather, the world of experience is shaped by the pattern set by the mind. In my opinion, “WHOLE DEVOTION” is a valid method of scientific inquiry and it will establish the correct mental pattern to understand the world of experience. I am asking for a “Whole Revolution” in our interpretation of the basic information Science provides to know Man’s Status in Nature. The reality of the Sun’s motions in the Milky Way Galaxy System are of no relevance to establish the reality called human existence. The Subjective, and the Objective Reality of Man is established by the apparent motions of the Sun across the sky, the imaginary plane that I call the “WHOLE ECLIPTIC.”
