The Phenomenon of Illumination – The Celebration of Deepavali on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Excerpt: Diwali, or Deepavali, is a Hindu festival of lights signifying the victory of good over evil, celebrated by followers of Jainism, Sikhism, and Buddhism as well. It falls on the 15th day of Kartik month each year. In 2025, it will be celebrated on Monday, October 20. The five-day celebration starts with Dhanteras, buying new utensils and jewelry, followed by Choti Diwali, the main Diwali celebration, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj. The difference between Diwali and Deepavali lies mainly in regional linguistic variations. The festival is also associated with illuminating the ‘inner light’ that wards off spiritual darkness. I coined the phrase Whole Optics to describe God as the Creator of Light who uses Light as an instrument of Knowledge in the performance of the Vital Function called Respiration that illuminates both the Inner and Outer Worlds by connecting the Energy Seeker and the Energy Provider.

Diwali or Deepawali is a festival of Hindus associated with lights (also called as festival of light) that symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Not just Hindus, but people of Jainism, Sikhism and Buddhism religion also celebrate the festival of Diwali with great pomp. According to the ancient calendar, Diwali is observed on Amavasya – the 15th day – of the month of Kartik, every year. In 2025, Diwali will be celebrated on Monday, October 20.

Spiritualism-The Victory of Good over Evil : I define Spiritualism as an Unchanging, Underlying Principle that supports the existence of every living Object that changes in Nature under the influence of the Cyclical Flow of Time.

Dhanteras is the first day of Diwali and is considered to be a very auspicious day to buy new utensils and jewelry. On this day, people worship Lord Dhanvantari, the god of medicine and health.

Choti Diwali is the second day of Diwali and is also known as Kali Chaudas. On this day, people worship Lord Hanuman and Goddess Kali. It is also a day to clean the house and get rid of old and unwanted things.

Diwali is the third day of Diwali and is the main day of the festival. On this day, people worship Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. They also light diyas (oil lamps) and candles to illuminate their homes and businesses.

Govardhan Puja is the fourth day of Diwali and is also known as Annakut. On this day, people worship Lord Krishna and offer him a mountain of food made from various grains and vegetables.

Bhai Dooj is the fifth and final day of Diwali. On this day, sisters apply tilak (vermilion mark) on the foreheads of their brothers and pray for their well-being. Brothers in turn give gifts to their sisters.

What is the difference between Diwali and Deepavali?

Bharat Darshan – The celebration of Deepavali on Monday, October 20, 2025

Diwali and Deepavali are two different names for the same festival, which is widely celebrated in India and by the Indian diaspora around the world. The difference lies in the way the words are spelled and pronounced based on regional and linguistic variations.

Diwali: This is the more commonly used term, and it is widely recognized in North India and other parts of the country. “Diwali” is the anglicized version of the festival’s name and is commonly used in English-language contexts.

Deepavali: This term is commonly used in South India and in some Southeast Asian countries with a significant Indian population. “Deepavali” is the original Sanskrit name of the festival, where “Deepa” means “lamp” or “light,” and “Avali” means “a row” or “a series.” It refers to the rows of lamps and lights that are lit during the festival to symbolize the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

Diwali is not only a festival of lights, but it also has great cultural and spiritual significance. The festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. The lighting of diyas is believed to represent the inner light that protects us from spiritual darkness. It is also a time for families and friends to come together, share sweets and delicacies, and exchange gifts.

The Phenomenon of Illumination – The Celebration of Deepavali on Monday, October 20, 2025. Indians will be celebrating the festival of KARTHIGAI DEEPAM, KARTHIKAI DEEPAM, OR ‘KARTIKA DEEPAM’. Should man search inwards or search outwards to find God? I can search if and only if my existence is supported. For my existence, I depend upon the ability of plants called photoreception.

Light or JYOTI in Sanskrit language represents the Eternal Reality. Jyoti is our conscious, its our awareness and it connects us to the Creator. This consciousness permeates all entities that are created and it includes all the five elements of Mother Nature. Consciousness is a function which enables a living organism to be aware of its own state of existence and to maintain that state of existence. Living organisms are aware of their need for an external source of energy to sustain their state of existence. Living organisms exist as ‘Energy Seekers’ and to exist they need connection with a ‘Energy Provider’. Consciousness is a biological function which establishes the connection between ‘Energy Seeker’ and ‘Energy Provider’. Because of this awareness, all entities would recognize and respond to their Creator, the Prime Source of Energy and the Controller of Energy.

Deepam Jyoti Param Brahma – Light and Ultimate Reality. Indian Tradition recognizes ‘Light’ as the manifestation of Ultimate Reality known as Param Brahma and Indians worship all sources of light including that of a light bulb.

Indians light up a lamp as a ritual to worship a deity of their choice. In several parts of the world and in various cultural traditions, the use of light is prevalent and is a part of ritualistic worship. In the Land of India, light is not only used as part of a ritual but also is directly worshiped with the belief that light represents God.

I am pleased to share an article titled “Light of Lights” published by Dr. Sarvepalli Anantha Padmanabha Rao, M.S. who served for many years as a Professor of Surgery, and as Director of Medical Education in the Government of Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health Services. It is important to know the views shared by the traditional thinkers of India and in my view, Indian Schools of Thought such as Advaita (Non-Dualism) have formulated their theories about the true or real identity of Self (Atman) without considering the physiological or biological basis for hosting a thought about Self (Atman) which may have an independent existence while it is totally detached from the Body, and Mind of its thinker. While Mysticism is a part of various religious traditions, I am asking my readers to seek “Whole Illumination” by investigating and by exploring the basis for man’s existence in the natural world. Any such explanation, or clarification would come to a conclusion and will assert that the man needs association, partnership, relationship, bonding, cooperation, assistance, patronage, Yoking, or Unity with a source of Energy that exists in the man’s external environment. The man cannot maintain the fact or the reality of his physical existence using introspection, meditation, or contemplative prayer which could be of use in illuminating man’s “Inner World” and provide him “Inner Vision”, a vision or illumination that describes the Identity of man’s true or real Self (Atman) and its perfect, complete, and wholesome Divine Nature.

The Phenomenon of Illumination – The Phenomenon of Knowing:

The Phenomenon of Illumination – The Celebration of Deepavali on Monday, October 20, 2025. SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – LIGHT OF LIGHTS – THE PHENOMENON OF ILLUMINATION: THE ILLUMINED MIND KNOWS THE KNOWER, THE KNOWLEDGE, AND THE SOURCE OF KNOWLEDGE.

The term illumination describes lighting or light. It is often used as the act or process of making something clearer or brighter or as a device for doing so. The word ‘illuminating’ or ‘illuminated’ is often applied to a clarification or explanation that sheds light on a subject that needs careful interpretation of information. In Physics, illumination is about the intensity of light per unit of area; the luminous flux per unit area at any point on a surface exposed to incident light. It is also called Illuminance. However, in Biology, the phenomenon of Illumination requires the study of Optics, Photoreception, and Photochemistry. The biological processes that involve the response of a living thing to the Light stimulus need to be stated as Photochemical Reactions which could be energy dependent and involve the use of chemical energy provided by molecules of Adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The Phenomenon of ‘Illumination’ in Biology requires the operation of three conditions; 1. The Source of Light or Lighting, 2. The Object that is Illuminated, and 3. The Observer who has the Sensory Perception called Vision, or the ability called Photoreception to acknowledge the phenomenon that is observed. Using the nature of photochemical reaction that is observed, living things can be broadly classified into two kinds; 1. Plants that respond to Light stimulus to trap its radiant Energy but have no Sensory Perception called Vision, and 2. Animals (man included) that have the Sensory Perception called Vision but do not have the ability to trap the Light  Energy. For human existence, we need all those three conditions, 1. The Sun as the Source of Light, 2. The Plants that trap the radiant energy of Sunlight using their ability called Photoreception, and 3. The man or Purusha who uses the ability called Sensory Perception or Vision and interprets that Light is God.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - LIGHT OF LIGHTS - THE PHENOMENON OF ILLUMINATION : FOR MAN TO DESCRIBE HIS EXPERIENCE CALLED VISION, OR INNER VISION, APART FROM A SOURCE OF EXTERNAL OR INTERNAL LIGHT, NEEDS THE SUPPORT OF THE VITAL FUNCTION CALLED BREATHING(PRANA) THAT ESTABLISHES MAN AS A BREATHING LIVING THING(PRANI OR PRANAVANTA).
The Phenomenon of Illumination – The Celebration of Deepavali on Monday, October 20, 2025. SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – LIGHT OF LIGHTS – THE PHENOMENON OF ILLUMINATION: FOR MAN TO DESCRIBE HIS EXPERIENCE CALLED VISION, OR INNER VISION, APART FROM A SOURCE OF EXTERNAL OR INTERNAL LIGHT, NEEDS THE SUPPORT OF THE VITAL FUNCTION CALLED BREATHING (PRANA) THAT ESTABLISHES MAN AS A BREATHING, LIVING THING (PRANI OR PRANAVANTA).

The above picture image of a verse from Brihadaranyak Upanishad 4:5:11 helps us to understand the nature of the vital function of Breathing and Respiration which is the physiological mechanism that man uses to oxidize food substances and derive energy which he further uses for his physical and mental work. If Vedas and Holy Scriptures are seen as the Source of knowledge, the transmission of that Knowledge involves the use of Breathing. If “Knowing” is compared to the phenomenon of ‘Illumination’, the act of Knowing will only be possible if there is Unity between God, the Source of Knowledge, Knower, the Individual called Jeeva who performs all his living functions because of the Knowledge implanted in his substance that makes him a Sentient or Sensible thing, or establishes him as the “Knowing-Self.” The natural phenomenon of Life and Living can be defined as ‘Knowledge in Action’. In Indian tradition the “Self” or “Atman” is the source of Inner Light that illuminates the entire human body. I am suggesting that the Light called Self or Atman illuminates by making it possible for a man to maintain his connection with an external source of energy present in the environment even while the man may find perfect Identity with God through the process called Inner Vision, Introspection, Meditation, or Contemplative Prayers with an attitude of “Whole Detachment” with all things present in the external world. I like the presentation “Light of Lights” for it nicely explains the thoughts of Shankara. However, I have noticed that the author did not provide clarification, or explanation for the final sentence, “Tat Asmi PrabhO.” It simply describes the Unity (Asmi) between man (Tat or True Self or Atman) and Lord (Prabhu). The man’s ability of Sensory Perception called Vision, and the ability of Inner Vision are of secondary importance as Existence depends directly on the act of Breathing and the Lord provides Knowledge to perform that act of Breathing. The True Self or Atman illuminates me if it is connected to Lord or Prabhu, the Original Source of Light.

Light illumines manifold objects in varying degrees of darkness; that is its property. Sources of such light may be external or internal to us. Examples of the former class are well-known, such as Sun, moon, fire, various kinds of lamps etc; The latter class, the internal, would be the psychic apparatus of man, comprising the sense organs, intelligence, intuition and above all the transcendental ‘Oversoul’ of R W Emerson the American philosopher. Vedanta too subscribes to such a transcendental super-conscious entity, illumining all, comprehending all and all-encompassing supreme Brahman. Flashes of intuition reveal discoveries which remain obscure prior to such overpowering experiences. Archimedes, crying out ‘eureka – eureka’ and Newton, when the apple fell and the law of gravitation revealed are instances of such intuitions . A deeper mental cloud prevents one from knowing who one exactly is in the ultimate analysis.

There is, in Greek mythology, a river named ‘Lethe’ whose waters, when drunk, would make the drinker profoundly forgetful.. One would forget, who one was, the ‘whence and wherefore’ of one’s own very self. A great philosopher likened our human predicament, to such a state of congenital amnesia, in which we lost our moorings, our “original innocence” as it were. Nescience is the technical term used for this state of primordial ignorance, which is said to cover one’s wisdom, ‘like smoke shrouds the fire or as dust sullies a mirror or as the womb envelops an embryo’ as th bhagavadgiitaa puts it. This is the ultimate darkness which needs for its dispelling, no less a light than that of the ‘Lord’, quoted in the GITA chapterXI-12 ever so stunningly – “if the light of a thousand suns were to blaze forth in the sky all at once, that might resemble the splendour of that exalted Being” – nothing short of an ‘apocalypse’, as it were, a revelation, of something not previously known or realized. Oppenheimer, the nuclear physicist, whose name is associated with the first atom bomb and who was a witness to its detonation.was so awe-struck at the sight that this line of the gItA chapter XI-32 flamed in his mind ” I am the full-blown, the all-destroying Time “. It was an indubitable intimation from the depths of his being and not much later, his intuitive insight was proved right, by the nuclear holocaust, the mayhem and the destruction at Hiroshima and Nagasaki it was cataclysmic in proportion

To Sankara, that transcendental spiritual genius, is ascribed a one-stanza poem, by name, ‘ekashlokI’. In it, is encapsulated the pith, the quintessence of the celebrated “mahAvAkya’s or the four great Vedic statements, called as such in the Advaita Vedanta. They are culled one from each of the four Vedas those statements or rather ‘truths’ are

a) ” praGYAnam Brahma, (Rigveda) pristine consciousness is Brahman.

b) ayam aatmaa Brahma (Atharva veda) – consciousness in all its apparent transformations is Brahman,

c) “tat tvam asi” (Samaveda)- You are, in essence, that consciousness, the eternal nitya, the unsullied shuddha, the fully awakened buddha, and unfettered – mukta ; the corollary follows that you are not the ignorant embodied jiiva, which you imagine you are.

d) (“aham Brahma asmi ” (Yajurveda) I am indeed that all-encompassing consciousness

It is with considerable trepidation that I have dared to translate the ‘mahaavaakya’s for fear that they may suffer the ‘noble transmutation from gold to lead’, in the process.

The order in which they are recounted here is not the temporal order in which they occur in the veda but they seem, to me, to be the order adopted by Sankara in this small ‘upadesha’ work, namely, the ekashlokii ’ As will become clear in the sequel, what is attempted here is not a word-for-word translation of the Sanskrit texts, not even a paraphrase but rather an unfolding of the traditional thought couched in the highly compressed poem

Before reproducing the Sanskrit verse, a short anecdotal account of the poignant scenario in which it is set, would be well in order, One might be tempted to ask ‘why only one verse-an ‘ekashlokI? Had not Sankara composed his shatashlokI of hundred verses and his upadesha sAhasrI of thousand teachings ? After all, what were the extenuating circumstances? As though in answer to such questions, a story is recounted thus: Sankara, on one of his peregrinations, chanced upon a spiritual aspirant who was in the throes of death. bemoaning his fate of his having to die before he could get his ‘beatitude’. The compassionate master had empathy with the man’s plight and knowing well the shruti declaration that “he who departs from this world without realising the ‘axara‘, the Imperishable entity, is a veritable wretch a ‘kRRipaNa“, the master devised for him the shortest discourse and the ‘ekashlokI was the result. The verse was composed in a frisky meter named ‘shArdUla vikrIditam’ which has four quarters of 19 syllables each, to enable him to pack all the punch at his command, in a single stanza. This imaginative story illustrates the truth that, when an exceptional master and a pupil desperately thirsting for the ‘saving wisdom’ come together, spiritual enlightenment can not be far behind.

The poem runs as follows :-

Unless the composition is split up at the right places, it would seem baffling at the first sight, to a beginner. The piece is in the form of a catechism or what in modern pedagogy would be called a ‘one on one’ interactive session. There are five question-answer pairs, one affirmation and one authoritative live-wire exhortation of the teacher and a final total concurrence, by the disciple, after his instant transformation. We shall now proceed with what may, euphemistically, be termed an exegesis of the verse. As will be seen in the sequel, what is attempted here is not a word-to-word rendering in to English, nor even a mere paraphrasing of the work; it is rather an attempt to enter to, and to bring out the traditional import of this Vedantic composition, to the extent my limited faculties permit. Much pertinent digression from the text has been indulged in, in the exposition.

The break up of the verse, is as follows :-

Q 1 :kim jyotih tava ? – what is your illuminator? By this question, the teacher is trying to ascertain a ‘baseline’, as it were, of the pupil’s understanding so as to lead him thence to higher levels. This was a well established methodology of spiritual instruction in the days of yore. It may be noted here that the question is a general one with no adjuncts of time or place specified. The student however thinks the question pertains to daytime and to things within his visual range.

A: bhhaanumaan ahani me – The daylight of the Sun sir. This answer establishes that the seeker has his vision riveted on the external objects – the out-going vision, the so-called ‘paraak pasyati’ concept of the KaThopaniShad.

Q 2 : raatrau ? what after Sun-down ? what illumines then ?

A: pradiipa aadikam– light of the various kinds of lamps which includes illumination from the moonlight, bonfires, lighted torches et cetera; it may be noted that the field being covered is still the outer world.

Affirmation : syaad evam. rightly so my dear; here the guru seems to be saying to himself “ Oh my! your answers are correct as far as they go; but they do not go very far. Here is the next question:

Q 3 Ravi diipa darshana vidhau kim jyotih ? Akhyaahi me – Now tell me what enables you to visualize the objects so illumined by the Sun, the lamps etc. Here the preceptor is shifting focus from the outer to the inner world of the mind. Even the sun, the lamps etc. stand in the relation of visible objects to the perceiving eye.

A: caxuH– “My eye, sir, is the perceiving light in this context” Now the student is made to understand the eye as the window to his inner cognitive apparatus – the mind.

Q4 : tasya nimiilana adi samaye ? If your eyes are shut, what then? The reasons for the shut-down may be many; one may choose to turn a blind eye like Nelson or to give a more noble example, one may actually be blind like Helen Keller. ‘ The word aadi’ in the Sanskrit original in the above question may include a legion instances The guru is taking the student in to deeper waters here, to turning his mind’s eye inward and enable him to watch the gyrations of his own mind

A: dhiiH, sir, it is my intellect that provides me the illumination necessary for my purposes, I can think thoughts that would navigate the scenes for me

Q 5: dhiyaH darshane (kim) ? you are right again my son! But thought is like a spring or a fountain. There must be some faculty to get to its mainspring, its source as it were. What ultimate light is it that stands as a ‘witness’ or ‘sAxI’ as it is technically termed, to your cognitive equipment?

A: ‘tatra aham ’ sir, Shorn of the baggage of all acquired accretions, appurtenances and appearances – in short, of all objective super-impositions I stand in all my majestic aloofness, and isolation (kaivalya). as ‘Myself’.

The great spiritual warrior in Sankara has finally drawn the bitterest foe of his pupil -‘the beginning-less spiritual ignorance’ to the edge of the precipice. with a view to pushing it over to its final annihilation. With a solemn and apocalyptic, coup de maître – a masterstroke, he is going to deliver the final push the student would be led to his beatitude meaning perfect blessedness or happiness. In devising this stepwise instruction Sankara has trodden the path of the ancient sages, established for ages. The famous dialogue between the sage YaaGYavalkya and Janaka the king in the BRRihadaaranyaka Upanishad chapter iv-3, the kaTha Upanishad III-10 as also the Bhavadgiitaa chapter III-42 have laid down the same rising hierarchical levels of consciousness viz – sense objects, sense organs, intelligence, intellect and the highest of all the PuruSha- the non plus ultra, higher than Which there can be nothing. To use the those very Sanskrit words pregnant with proven meaning – proven to mystic seers of all creeds and climes in their deepest visions down the millennia – saa kaashThaa, saa paraa gatiH. THAT is the summum bonum the last post

And what may that stupendous, staggering declaration be ? Let us see that in the next line:-

THE FINAL PUSH : ataH bhavaan paramakam jyotiH Therefore my child, you are verily that Light of lights, which the Vedanta asserts in stentorian voice and peremptory tone- tat tvam asi – That Thou Art. It is not the denoted dictionary meanings of the words of the scriptural testimony that will bring the peace that passes understanding but the inner experience of the truth which is transforming in nature.

The finish : tat asmi prabho !!! Oh my master I am indeed that Light of Lights because I have just experienced that ecstatic mystic state, by your bounteous grace. It is another matter that the experience of that state can communicated in words only after descending somewhat from those Olympian heights. But at all events he has been raised to that dizzy altitude of sage-hood, the memory of which shall stamp its hallmark on every thought word and deed ever-after.

We have to make the fundamental distinction between the living and the non-living matter. The scientific advances of the 19th and 20th centuries reinforced the materialistic position concerning the basic similarity of organic living and inorganic physical matter. The man is viewed as a product of natural evolution and is thought to be subject to the same laws of Physics and Chemistry or mechanistic principles.

We need a methodology to study philosophy and to understand philosophical statements. Logical Positivism, also known as Scientific Empiricism aims to clarify concepts in both everyday and scientific language. It describes analysis of language as the function of philosophy. This analysis of language and of concepts is important to understand questions of belief and ideology which affect what we think we ought to do individually and socially. I use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the concept of Spiritual Optics, the Spiritual dimension of the relationship between the man and the substances he consumes as food.

To define food as any substance consumed to provide the nutritional support to an organism is incomplete as it fails to describe the totality of the relationship between food and its consumer. I describe the Seven Dimensions of the man. These are, 1. The Physical, 2. The Mental, 3. The Social, 4. The Moral, 5. The Spiritual, 6. The Creative, and 7. The Rational. The man is constituted as a Physical being that is made up of  about 100 trillion individual, independent building blocks or living cells that are structurally and functionally differentiated as the tissues, organs, and organ systems of the human body. Each living, individual cell is thermodynamically unstable. It means that the living system that is represented by the cell will dissolve into its non-living molecules and elements if not supplied energy from an external source.

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as a Spectrum of Seven Colors. The Living Cell is a thermodynamically unstable system. This means that without a continuous input of Energy, a Living Cell will degrade spontaneously into a collection of nonliving molecules.

Food provides those energy-yielding molecules to energy-demanding molecules that constitute the Physical being. Food is used as a general term to describe substances consumed by man for nourishment. Food is defined as any substance which a living organism can convert into its own living substance from which it grows and develops new tissue, manipulates energy, etc., using a process called ‘metabolism’. The term ‘nutrient’ is explained as a substance that serves as food, or provides nourishment. The term ‘nutrition’ refers to the process of feeding or being nourished. As mentioned earlier, all the tissues and organs of which the human body is composed, consists of building blocks called cells. Every cell contains a spherical body called nucleus and a ground material, living substance, or living matter called ‘protoplasm’. The most striking characteristic of protoplasm is its vital property called ‘Nutrition’. In Human Physiology, the term ‘Nutrition’ is used to describe the ‘power’ which protoplasm has of attracting to itself the materials that provide energy, and the substances for its growth and maintenance from surrounding matter or extracellular environment. Man must feed himself and yet he depends upon the ability of cells to recognize the specific nutrient substances and take action to absorb them and process them for further use. Nutritional Science describes three major functions of food; 1. food generates energy for growth, maintenance and activity, 2. food supplies agents like vitamins and others that are needed to make or to help enzymes which carry out a variety of cellular processes, and 3. food provides the building materials like proteins and amino acids that are used for building cells and tissues of the body. The essential human nutrients are proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and vitamins. Human body cannot synthesize some of these nutrients and they must be supplied. To make this easy for understanding, human foods are divided into classes and the basic nutritional goal is to have a ‘Balanced Diet’ with items from all of the major Food Groups to perform all the living functions such as the uptake and conversion of nutrients, making, breaking, and repairing of organic molecules, production of energy, and regulation and coordination of various metabolic sequences.

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine laid emphasis on the role of food in promoting health and well-being of the man apart from its role in the treatment of diseases.

The term Whole is often used to describe something that is entire or complete to signify that it has all the elements or parts constituting the entire amount and it is not broken, damaged, or defective. The term Whole also means auspicious, healthy, or uninjured and not diseased. We need to define the human being as a Whole Person, Whole Self, or Whole Dude to understand the complete entity that exists as man. There are Seven Dimensions of Whole Person: 1. Man-the Physical Being, 2. Man-the Mental being, 3. Man-the Social being, 4. Man-the Moral being, 5. Man-the Spiritual being, 6. Man-the Creative Being, and 7. Man-the Rational Being. These seven components have to come together to establish the reality of man’s biological existence in the physical world. In the context of ‘Whole Food’, we must find qualities that fit into this description of being ‘Whole’ and its ability to perform all the functions that are attributed to Food.

Whole Food – Whole Human:

Whole Dude – Whole Foods – Whole Planet – Whole Family – Whole Spirituality: Salutations to Mother Annapurna. The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods.

There is a huge growing concern about the substances that are added to food by food industry. The concern involves the use of synthetic or artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Food that may contain artificial colors, artificial flavors and chemical preservatives may not promote good health and are even suspected to cause injury or disease. Hence, the concept of ‘Whole Food’ demands the exclusion of such artificial colors and flavors and all synthetic preservatives from the food products used by the man for his physical well-being. Even when chemicals are not added to food, there is a concern about chemicals like synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and hormones that are used by the food and agriculture industry. It calls for understanding the term called ‘Natural Food’. To be called ‘natural’, food must not be exposed or tainted by chemicals that are not ‘naturally’ present in the substances that are consumed as Food. This concern is often reflected in the demand for ‘Organic Food’ that calls for the exclusion of synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and growth hormones in the production of food. Apart from these considerations, the use of additives to change the taste, texture, and appearance of food have caused several health-related concerns. Some of them relate to the use of artificial sweeteners, and the use of partially hydrogenated oils. To qualify as ‘Whole Food’, it may require the exclusion of artificial sweeteners and the so-called ‘transfats’ from food. This concern is also extended to genetically modified organisms or GMOs that have become common. The genetically modified trait may impart some benefit to the substance and yet it may not qualify to be described as Natural Food or ‘Whole Food’.

Whole Food – Whole Satisfaction:

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. The Concept of Food and Nutrition must include the human desire to find the living experience or condition called Satiation, Satisfaction, and Contentment. Food must satisfy the cravings of the Soul for Everlasting Life.

The man is constituted to exist as a Mental being. The man relates to himself, his physical body with the help of his thoughts and moods. The man often tries to discover his ‘essence’ or true identity not in his physical, living substance, but by knowing his ideas, thoughts, and imagination which describes his physical identity. These mental concepts that relate to identity are always associated with feelings and moods that give meaning to the living condition or living experience. Food provides substances to constitute the physical components of the body and it also affects man’s thoughts and moods. The problems related to a man’s feeding behavior will not be eliminated by supplying him what is defined as ‘Balanced Diet’. The health problems associated with food consumption and caloric intake seem to persist even when the man consumes ‘Balanced Diet’. It calls for further understanding of the functions of Food and we have to define the term ‘Whole Food’ by sharing the ‘Whole Story’ about Food and its role in human life. There are two important aspects of Food that are not taken into consideration by Nutritional Science. The Law may require that food products that are sold by retail food stores or grocery stores must provide adequate ‘Nutritional Information’. The products are labeled to provide information about the ingredients, allergens, and nutritional facts to help the consumer of food to make an informed choice about the food that is consumed. Such nutritional choices are helpful and yet there is a problem about the Food. The concept of ‘Whole Food’ gives recognition to the role of Food apart from its function to supply the nutrients. Food must provide satiation or the experience of mental contentment or psychological satisfaction from its consumption.

Whole Food – Whole Community:

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. The human body is the natural host to trillions of microbes. The Concept of Whole Community and Whole Biome

The man is constituted to exist as a Social being. The man’s growth and development demands social support. The man as a biological living entity can only be described as an association of trillions of individual cells or as a multicellular organism. At the same time, there are about 10 times 100 trillion microbes that inhabit the human gastrointestinal tract. The man is a natural host and there is a mutually beneficial relationship between man the host, and the microbes that reside in his body. During the entire course of his life, the man shares his food and drink with the guests who have taken residence in his body. These guests perform the function of an internal organ system and are important for the man’s health and well-being. Man will always exist as a member of a Biotic or Biological community without any chance of true independence. This understanding is promoting the consumption of foods that are popularly termed as Probiotic.

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. The Concept of Whole Community or Whole Biome.

The man to support his health and well-being has to consume some living organisms on a regular basis to replenish the microbes that are lost due to excretion. Food plays a vital role in the development, and the maintenance of social interactions, and social relationships.Food-directed activities of man often need social situations and social bonding. Food has the intrinsic ability to nurture a relationship between the provider of the food and the food consumer. At the same time, there is a direct emotional relationship between man and the Food he consumes. The man derives emotional satisfaction called ‘Satiation’ when he consumes Food. It contributes to satisfaction or a sense of mental contentment to shape his living experience. The man lives to experience satisfaction or mental contentment by gratifying his desires or cravings. Food craving is very important part of a man’s life and biological existence. Balanced Diet may or may not provide the psychological contentment that man wants to derive by consuming Food. Such satisfaction demands social bonding between man and the food and between man and his provider of food. Hence, we have to develop our understanding of Food as a medium or as a substance that has the potency to develop and form relationships, association, connection, and bonding between man and his social community and environment in which man exists, and by the consumption of ‘Whole Food’ man finds ‘Whole Satisfaction’ in his living experience.

Whole Food – Whole Relations:

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. The act of consuming or eating Food establishes Social Bonding between the Food Provider and the Food Consumer. Feeding has a social purpose and it initiates social interactions. There is always a spiritual relationship between Mother and the Baby, a relationship based upon sympathy, understanding, affection, feelings, and Love.

Apart from nutrition, a man consumes food for psychological satisfaction or to derive a sense of emotional contentment, and for the benefit of other individuals. A pregnant woman consumes food to provide a direct benefit to the baby growing in her womb. This placental connection between a mother and her fetus establishes an anatomical relationship and a social relationship and social bonding between the two, both during the duration of pregnancy and after the delivery of the baby. The man’s feeding behavior and feeding activities are influenced by social, and external environmental factors. Both, the timing of feeding, and the choice of food are affected by social facilitation. Food-directed activities in social situations demonstrate the ability of food to establish a connection between a food provider and the food consumer. Hunger and Satiety operate the physiological mechanisms related to food intake. The psychological, and emotional contentment derived from food is related to Social Bonding and Social Relationships that are fostered by Food. I describe spirituality as a relationship based upon sympathy, understanding, affection, feelings of care and Love. Food has the intrinsic ability to nurture a spiritual relationship between the provider of the food and its consumer. There is also a direct emotional relationship between a man and the food he consumes. The causes for excessive or overeating are not yet fully understood. Overeating could be a symptom of boredom or mental frustration. For many persons who indulge in overeating, the craving to eat is very strong and is similar to the craving for alcohol in the alcoholic and for a cigarette in a person addicted to tobacco smoke. The physiological mechanisms of hunger and thirst cannot fully account for the feeding behavior of a man. Just like lust, and greed, the man has psychological desire or craving for food and develops an intimate relationship with the food and drink he consumes. However, the man can always express his craving for food in a spiritual context and seek the satisfaction provided by knowing the nature of God-Connection.

Whole Food – Whole Ecology:

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. ECOLOGY-WHOLE FOOD-WHOLE LIFE-WHOLE SPIRITUALITY: Food is the medium through which interrelatedness, interdependence, and the interconnectedness of living organisms is expressed.

The man is constituted to exist as a Spiritual being. The term ‘spiritual’ refers to relationships that are based upon feelings of sympathy and understanding. The man has to define the spiritual basis of his relationship with the rest of the biological community and the physical environment that is common to all of them. Ecology is the Science that is concerned with the relation between organisms and their environment. ‘Food Chain’ in Ecology describes the sequence of transfers of matter and energy from organism to organism in the form of food. Food is the medium through which interrelatedness, interdependence, and the interconnectedness of organisms that are members of an Ecological System is expressed. A balanced growth of organisms that are connected in an Ecosystem demands the concept of ‘Sustainable Development’. Natural resources have to be used wisely to sustain the qualities of environment that support living systems. The man needs food for his nourishment and to find this nourishment, the man should also stop the environmental pollution and degradation that may upset the delicate Ecological Balance that operates in Nature. The manner in which a man acquires energy-yielding molecules from his environment will ultimately define the man’s definition of Food.

Whole Food – Whole Morality:

Whole Dude – Whole Foods – Whole Planet – Whole Family – Whole Spirituality: The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods.
Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. The human beings acting individually and collectively have developed ‘Food Culture’ and Food Traditions to express their moral and ethical principles in all of their food-directed activities and behavior.

The man is constituted to exist as a Moral Being. He is intrinsically endowed with a nature that displays the ability called discernment. He has the ability to choose right conduct and right behavior as he has the ability to discern right from wrong, and distinguish good from bad. This human nature called discernment is related to the nature of the living substance or living matter called protoplasm. I have described its vital property called the Power of Nutrition. It uses this power with a sense of discernment. Protoplasm while attracting substances found in its external environment, uses a very selective uptake process. Some substances are accepted and tolerated and some are rejected. It expresses intolerance to the presence of certain substances and its response may even cause a severe and sometimes life-threatening allergic reaction. The man has no ability to consume all substances as Food. He has to know about good and bad food choices, and he has to know as to which food is right and as to which food is wrong. The human beings acting individually and collectively have developed ‘Food Culture’ and Food Traditions to express their moral and ethical principles in all of their food-directed activities and behavior.

Whole Food – Whole Spirituality:

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. Whole Spirituality describes the Spiritual Dimension of Food. It formulates a binding relationship between man and God.

Food is defined as any substance which a living organism can convert into its own living substance or living matter called protoplasm, the physical basis of Life. This substance must be viewed as a spiritual substance as it has the potency to formulate functional harmony and mutually beneficial relationships among the cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems that grow and develop using the energy and organic molecules synthesized by protoplasm. The concept of ‘Whole Food’ will naturally include the concept of Food as a Whole Spiritual Substance that must be treated with respect and devotion. Such an attitude of respect and devotion would help man to use Food as a Spiritual Medium to establish a Connection, a Relationship, an Association, a Partnership, and Bonding between the Food Consumer and the Divine Providence.

Whole Food – Whole Covenant:

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. The Concept of Whole Covenant.Salt enjoys a special status among all food substances that man consumes. The intimate connection of Salt with the idea of a “COVENANT” or binding contract or binding relationship, as a mark of Loyalty and Faithfulness, between man and God and between man and man is recognized in all human cultures.

Salt is universally used as a seasoning and as a preservative of food. Salt enjoys a special status among all food substances that a man consumes. The status of Salt as a life-giving and life-sustaining substance is well-founded. The intimate connection of Salt with the idea of a “COVENANT” or a binding relationship between man and God, and between man and man is recognized in all human cultures.

The idea of “a covenant of salt forever” is found in The Fourth Book of Moses, The Numbers, Chapter 18, verse 19: “It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the Lord for both you and your offspring.” Similarly, The Third Book of Moses, The Leviticus, Chapter 2, verse 13 reads: “Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings, add salt to all your offerings.” The special status enjoyed by salt is reflected in the phrases popularly used in the languages of different people; “Untrue to Salt”(Persian), “Trespass not against the Salt”(Greek), “There is Salt between Us”(Arabic), “Injury or Harm to Salt”(“Namaq or Namak Haram” – Indian). Jesus very effectively communicates the relationship between the status of salt and the nature of man. The nature of man is understood in terms of his behavior, character, and conduct. It is expected of a man to display respect, faithfulness, and loyalty in his relationship with other persons where the relationship is established by the covenant of salt. Jesus directly instructs people to reject any person who has lost the fundamental characteristics of character and integrity and states His view by comparing the man to salt. By accepting food, by consuming food, and by deriving nourishment and sustenance from food, the man has established a binding relationship forever with his food provider.

Whole Food – Whole Trade:

Whole Dude defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. Eating the Right Food also includes the concern about making the Right Choices for the buying, marketing, and selling food to its consumers. The Concept of Whole Trade.

In recent times, the concerns about buying, marketing and selling of food items by the food retail industry has developed into ideas such as ‘FAIR-TRADE’, ‘ECO-TRADE’, and WHOLE TRADE guarantee. There is a growing genuine moral and ethical concern to support the living conditions of people and communities involved in growing Food. There is a growing interest to consume Food that is called ‘LOCAL’; food that is grown or manufactured in the local communities. The man must consume Food for his living and he may have to do it in a morally and ethically responsible manner. These concerns have generated the demand for ethical and compassionate treatment of all animals used as Food for human consumption. Food and Agriculture Industry are developing standards for Compassionate Treatment of Animals. The concept of ‘Whole Food’ includes the moral and ethical principles that man applies to define his food-related behavior.

Whole Food – Whole Life:

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. In the final analysis, the man’s attitude about living his life to the fullest extent is reflected through his relationship with Food.

I define the term Whole Food as follows taking into consideration the Seven aspects of the role of Food in supporting the biological existence of the man in his community, and environment. Indeed, no man is truly capable of an existence that excludes the social community and the physical environment in which he exists:

1. Whole Food provides the nutritional substances for the Physical well-being of man and supports his living functions.

2. Whole Food provides the psychological satisfaction, the mental contentment that a man needs to support his Mental well-being.

3. Whole Food provides the stimulus for social relationships and social bonding that a man needs to support his Social well-being.

4. Whole Food provides the ability to a man to express his moral and ethical principles to support his Moral well-being.

5. Whole Food provides the Spiritual basis for the man’s relationship with Divine Providence to support the Spiritual well-being of man.

6. Whole Food provides creative opportunities in the preparation of items consumed as Food and in its presentation to its consumer. Man developed this creative talent that is universally recognized as Culinary Arts.

7. Whole Food provides the rational opportunity for man to know and understand that man does not live by bread alone to lead a fulfilling life (Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4).

Whole Food comprises of the nutritional substances that support man’s Physical, Mental, Social, Moral, and Spiritual well-being. These five components of well-being are important to generate the experience of Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in human Life. There is no Joy in Life and there is no Happiness in Mind, and there will be no Love in Heart until man finds Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the Living Experience. I say that, Whole Food gives man the experience of Whole Life; a Life of Satisfaction, Contentment, and Happiness.

Whole Magic-The Magic of Creation discovered at Whole Foods, Ann Arbor

The Magic of Creation – The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating – Discovery reported in 2013

Griffin James Quinoa Challenge Award at Whole Foods Market Inc., Ann Arbor promotes the idea of improving Product Knowledge. Currently, there are no laws to include Nutrition Information about Dietary Polyamine Content of Food Products sold by Retail Food Industry.

The Magic of Creation can be interpreted from an understanding of Photochemistry and Phytochemistry. Photochemistry provides information about light and matter interactions in the material world where the living things survive using directly, or indirectly the energy trapped by photosynthetic organisms. Phytochemistry provides information about the creation, or the synthesis of chemical molecules by plants which are not endowed with organs of special sensation. The Magic of Creation is experienced by man who has the faculties of special sensation such as vision, olfaction (smell), and taste. Plants create chemical molecules that have the ability to provide the stimulus to cause a sensation that man can easily recognize. The fact of Creation can be recognized by knowing the color, the odor, the smell, the scent, the fragrance, the aroma, the flavor, and the taste of chemical molecules synthesized by plants.

The Theory of Evolution tries to explain changes in the morphological appearances of organisms which exist under the influence of time. But, the fact of existence of life can only be explained by the unchanging creative mechanisms that operate the Laws of Phytochemistry. We have witnessed changes in the appearances of organisms while the nature, and composition of chemical molecules essentially remains the same, and the same oxidative-reduction chemical reactions operate during the life and death of organisms. For example, the unchanging chemical composition of water molecule makes possible the creation of a wide variety of other chemical molecules to establish biodiversity.

WholeDude - WholeDesigner - WholeMagic: The Water Molecule can exist in three different physical conditions such as liquid, soild, and gas. But, it maintains the same chemical composition, and displays unchanging behavior without being influenced by changing times.
WholeDude – WholeDesigner – WholeMagic: The Water Molecule can exist in three different physical conditions such as liquid, solid, and gas. But, it maintains the same chemical composition, and displays unchanging behavior without being influenced by changing times. In essence, it is the same chemical compound that existed in all living things of the past, and the present.

What it is to be a Substance? and What it is to Exist? We need to establish knowledge about the man and the world on a firm basis and the information it provides must be tested for its accuracy and consistency with an external reality.

I would use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the concept of Spiritual Optics, the Spiritual dimension of biological coloration and the synthesis of chemical molecules by plants.

Whole Dude – Whole Designer – Phytochemistry:

The Magic of Creation discovered at Whole Foods, Ann Arbor – The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eatng. The Designing of Unchanging Chemical Molecules.

Phytochemistry is the branch of Chemistry dealing with the chemical processes associated with plant life and the chemical compounds produced by plants.

In this blog post, I explore the connection between the chemical compounds made by Chenopodium quinoa and the male human reproductive system. I am amazed to  discover that a plant creates the same chemical compounds in the precise concentration and combination to generate the same odor, smell, flavor, scent, or aroma that is produced by a freshly voided sample of human male Semen, the biological fluid that contains seeds called Spermatozoa. In my entire food experience with a wide variety of plant, and animal products, I never encountered a similar observation where I observe the convergence in chemical processes to generate the unique, unmistakable and distinctive odor by two entirely different organisms. Both plants and the man may synthesize similar chemical compounds using similar enzymatic pathways, still it would be very exceptional to generate an odor that a man can easily recognize as his own. The mechanisms that operate the phenomenon of Evolution cannot bring about this kind of convergence. In my interpretation, it is the evidence of an Artistic Unit created by Whole Designer, or Whole Architect, and a Whole Planner.

Quinoa (Spanish – Quinua, Quechua, Kinwa) is a member of the Goosefoot family and belongs to the genus called Chenopodium. These are weedy plants with small green flowers and scruffy foliage. These plants are cultivated by the Incas in the Altiplano of Bolivia, and Peru for the last 7,000 years challenging highly different environmental conditions. Quinoa is not a true cereal and is sometimes called pseudocereal as it does not belong to the Grass family like the true cereals such as Wheat and Rice. Quinoa plants produce fruits and seeds used as flour for making bread, pasta, breakfast flakes, and other staples.

Whole Dude – Whole Designer – Phytochemistry: Incas have been continuously cultivating Quinoa for the last 7,000 years. They may not be aware of the chemical compounds made by these plants. However, they should be able to very easily recognize the smell, the odor, the scent, the aroma, and the flavor of the plant products that they use. A ‘Smell Test’ can accurately detect presence of some odoriferous chemical molecules and any man will be able to describe the odor without being a Chemist, or a Biochemist.

Throughout the ages many foods have been considered sexual stimulants. Quinoa has a special reason to be recognized as an Aphrodisiac, a chemical agent that can enhance sexual performance. Such a claim can be based upon the study of Polyamines found in its leaves and seeds. Polyamines are now thought of as the nutritional regulators of human fertility.

Quinoa is one of the staple foods of the people of the Andes region of South America. It is described as complete food because of its protein quality; the balance between protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Unlike Wheat, and Rice, it is a good source of amino acid Lysine. It is a good source of minerals like iron, calcium, potassium, sodium, and zinc. The chemical analysis of Chenopodium quinoa seeds reveals the presence of several chemical compounds such as Phenols, Sterols, Terpens, Saponins, Amides, and Alkaloids. However, I emphasize about the presence of Polyamines, a class of chemical compounds found in all plant, and animal cells. The presence of Saponins in the outer layers of Quinoa seeds imparts a bitter taste to the food preparations and often people refuse to use Quinoa because of its taste, and smell.

What are Polyamines?

WholeDude - WholeDesigner - Phytochemistry: Biosynthetic pathways of Polyamines. There are three important sources for the human body Polyamine Pool; 1. The biosynthesis within the body, 2. Production by microorganisms residing in the gastrointestinal tract, and 3. Dietary contribution.

Polyamines are described as small aliphatic amines found in all animal, and plant cells. They are the major components which are not only involved in fundamental cellular processes, for example, cell proliferation, cell differentiation, and programmed cell death, but also in adaptive responses to environmental stresses. The human body Polyamine Pool has three major sources; 1. Synthesis within the body, 2. Production by microbes that inhabit the intestinal tract, and 3. dietary uptake of Polyamines. According to a study, the concentration levels of these chemical compounds in human male Semen are, 1. Putrescine ranged from 0 to 1.96 mmol/L ( mean value= 0.10 mmol/L), 2. Spermidine ranged from 0.017 to 0.96 mmol/L(mean value= 0.16 mmol/L), and 3. Spermine ranged from 0.13 to 20.80 mmol/L(mean value= 2.43 mmol/L). It must be noted that the odor sensation is influenced by both arrangement of atoms within the molecule as well as the particular chemical groups that comprise the molecule. Olfaction is 10,000 times more sensitive than taste. The levels of these compounds in popular dietary items is shown in the tables below:

To describe the role of Polyamines in Plant and Human Physiology, I would like to quote from the abstract prepared by Lefevre PL, Palin MF, and Murphy BD in their article titled ‘Polyamines on the reproductive landscape’, and its full text may be viewed at:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21791568

The polyamines are ubiquitous polycationic compounds. Some of these namely spermine, spermidine, and putrescine are essential to male and female reproductive processes and to embryo/fetal development. Indeed their absence is characterized by infertility and arrest in embryogenesis. Mammals synthesize polyamines de novo from amino acids or import these compounds from the diet. They are essential regulators of cell growth and gene expression and they are implicated in both mitosis and meiosis. In male reproduction, polyamine expression correlates with stages of spermatogenesis and they function to promote sperm motility. Polyamines are involved in ovarian follicle development and ovulation in female mammals. Polyamine synthesis is required for steroidogenesis in the ovary. Polyamines play the role in embryo implantation. Elimination of polyamine synthesis abrogate embryo development at gastrulation. Polyamines play the role in implantation, in decidualization, in placenta formation and function. Polyamine deprivation during gestation results in intrauterine growth retardation. Dietary arginine and dietary polyamines act as nutritional regulators of fertility.

Similarly, I can quote several other research papers that describe the physiology of natural polyamines and their significance in performing a variety of metabolic functions. Please read the articles cited as references.

It is important to recognize significance of Polyamine compounds such as Putrescine, Spermidine, and Spermine in Reproductive Biology. Animals derive essential amino acids and other organic compounds from their diet. Nutrition plays an important role in the reproductive success of an organism. Since scientific literature supports the view that dietary polyamines act as nutritional regulators of fertility, they can be easily incorporated into human dietary regimen, particularly of those young men and women who are sexually active and plan for reproductive success that ensures the birth of healthy babies. I am recommending the use of Quinoa as it is easy to verify presence of nutritional polyamines by conducting a simple ‘Smell Test’. Its easy and takes only 90 seconds.

The Quinoa Challenge: The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating:

I am asking my readers to take the ‘Quinoa Challenge’, which is a simple ‘Smell Test’ to discover presence of Polyamines Putrescine, Spermidine, and Spermine in the breakfast cereal of Quinoa Flakes made by Ancient Harvest. In 90 seconds, you will find the dietary polyamines without conducting a time-consuming chemical analysis. If your Quinoa porridge has Semen-like smell, it most certainly contains those Polyamines. As the saying goes: “The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating.”

The Problem of Male Potency – The Role of Quinoa as an Aphrodisiac:

The Magic of Creation discovered at Whole Foods, Ann Arbor – The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating. The Designing of Unchanging Chemical Molecules. The role of Quinoa as an Aphrodisiac. The Birth of Venus, by Sandro Botticelli, depicts the goddess of love floating on a giant scallop shell. The word aphrodisiac derives from her Greek name, Aphrodite.

The term potent is derived from the Sanskrit word “Pati” which means Master or husband. It generally refers to the ability to have  erection and hence have the power or energy or strength or capacity to engage in sexual intercourse. Very often, when human males are concerned about the problem of male potency they describe it as a problem of erectile dysfunction. When females are investigated for the problem of infertility, investigation of the male partner sometimes reveals the problems such as very low sperm counts and other abnormalities associated with the Seminal Fluid or Semen analysis. For men, impotence involves the problem of getting sexually excited, stimulation of sexual desire for the successful execution of sexual intercourse.

I do not propose Quinoa as an Erotic Food, or a Love Potion. Man’s universal attribution of libidinous effects to certain foods originated in the ancient belief; the belief in the therapeutic efficacy of “signatures.” If an object resembled genitalia, it is believed in several native cultures, that the object possessed sexual powers. Because of this belief, people describe the legendary aphrodisiac powers of Ginseng root and powdered Rhinoceros horn. Drugs like alcohol, marijuana, mescaline, opium, and others may cause sexual excitation through disinhibition. The fear, anxiety associated with erectile power and sexual performance may indeed have an inhibitory influence and may diminish sexual capacity. Inhibition could be the cause of much sexual malfunctioning. My recommendation of Quinoa as an aphrodisiac is based upon other considerations. Androgens are sex hormones that influence the growth and development of the male reproductive system. Testosterone is produced by the male testes. In the male, the Interstitial Cells of Leydig in the connective tissue surrounding the sperm-producing tubules of the testes are responsible for the production and secretion of androgens which are essential for the growth of the reproductive organs, the formation of sperm cells and for maintenance of sexual interest and libido or sexual drive. Secondly, Polyamines are required to protect the sperm cells during their journey in the female genital tract. Polyamines are alkaline compounds that counteract and buffer the acidic environment of the vaginal canal and protect DNA inside sperm cells. From a study of Phytochemistry, plant physiology, human physiology, biochemistry, medical biology, endocrinology, embryology, and human nutrition, it could be recommended to include some dietary sources of polyamines during the reproductive activity of both men and women to ensure the birth of viable, and healthy babies. For that reason, I am suggesting the use of Quinoa and if there is any doubt, perform the ‘Smell Test’ to verify the presence of aromatic amino compounds which play a role in both mitosis, and meiosis cell division apart from their association with Nucleic Acids like DNA, RNA, and their role in activity of Ribosomes and the Cell Membrane. Studies indicate that reducing concentration of Polyamines in the body pool may slow cancer process as the rapidly proliferating cancer cells need polyamines. To study viruses, Virologists use Chenopodium quinoa plants as plant virus hosts. Development of Polyamine Database for assessing Dietary Intake has been recommended and I am hopeful that nutritional guidelines will become available.

Quinoa is a functional food and it must be used in support of various physiological functions and its intake and of other polyamines could be also important in management of cancer. The biosynthesis of chemical molecules by plants is a creative process and the mechanism is creative as it generates diversity while the molecules maintain their unchanging properties and characteristics.

Whole Magic – Whole Dude at Whole Foods describes the Designing of Seasons

The Science of Spiritual Optics

The Science of Spiritual Optics. What is Matter? and What is Spirit? The Laws of Conservation are applicable to both the living, and the non-living matter. Hence, it can be stated that “Life can neither be created nor destroyed.”

What it is to be a Substance? and What it is to Exist? We need to establish knowledge about the man and the world on a firm basis and the information it provides must be tested for its accuracy and consistency with an external reality.

I would use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the concept of Spiritual Optics, the Spiritual dimension of biological coloration, and the phenomenon of changing Seasons and the behavior of organisms described as Photoperiodism.

God is Light or God created Light; Light is Energy, Light is Energy of Life and Color is the evidence for the use of imagination to formulate spiritual relationships between energy dependent life and energy providing Supreme Being.

Optics is the scientific study of Light and the study of Light should be concerned with the genesis, nature, properties of Light and its purpose and role in the establishment of life and interactions among living things.

The first recorded utterance of God in the Bible is, “Let there be light.” (The Old Testament, The First Book of Moses, The Book of Genesis, Chapter 1, verse 3.) Light is the sign of divine operation in the world of chaos and darkness. Light brings order to the world. Without a source of light, a primary source of external energy, life would be impossible on planet Earth. Further, it can be stated that light is essential for life for the synchronization of life’s living functions, and to generate the experience of peace, harmony, and tranquility in the living condition, or state.

The Blessings of Autumn Season

Spiritual Optics – The Magical Spell of Seasons

The fall equinox arrives on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 2:19 PM Eastern Time. The equinox occurs at the same moment worldwide. Fall begins in the Northern Hemisphere and Spring begins in the Southern Hemisphere.

Spiritual Optics – The Magical Spell of Seasons
Spiritual Optics – The Magical Spell of Seasons

The word “equinox” comes from Latin aequus, meaning “equal,” and nox, “night.” On the equinox, day and night are roughly equal in length.

Spiritual Optics – The Magical Spell of Seasons

During the equinox, the Sun crosses what we call the “celestial equator”—an imaginary extension of Earth’s equator line into space. The equinox occurs precisely when the Sun’s center passes through this line. When the Sun crosses the equator from north to south, this marks the autumnal equinox; when it crosses from south to north, this marks the vernal equinox.

The changes called Day and Night, and the changes called Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer Seasons manifest while the Sun is shining with its full brightness at all times.

In my view, all natural phenomena require the operation of an unchanging condition that gives the opportunity to experience the change that is manifested. The change called Day and Night, and the changes called Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer Seasons are manifested because of an unchanging condition; the fact of Sun shining with its full brightness 24-hours, and at all times.

The rhythmically recurring phenomena called biological rhythms are manifested for living functions operate under the influence of an unchanging, vital, animating principle called Soul, or Spirit.

Spiritual Optics – The Spiritual Dimension of Photoperiodism. Monday, September 22, 2025. The Magical Spell of Seasons. Reflections on Autumnal Equinox.

Photoperiodism is described as the behavioral or physiological reaction of an organism to changes of duration in daily, seasonal, or yearly periods of light and darkness. The changes in activities occur on daily basis as well as with a consistent pattern when the seasons change. For example, the Autumn or Fall season in the Northern Hemisphere includes the months of September, October, and November. Fall is the season of the year in which many trees change in their appearance; the color of their leaves changes and then trees lose their leaves. Autumn is the season that comes between Summer and Winter seasons. In the astronomical year, the Fall season is the period between the Autumnal Equinox and the Winter Solstice.

Spiritual Optics – The Spiritual Dimension of Photoperiodism. Note that fall foliage isn’t due to current weather conditions. This is a common misconception. Leaves change color because of the amount of daylight and photosynthesis.

The characteristic of Fall is the beginning of a decline in activities of several living organisms to prepare for subsequent changes expected to come in future. Daily periods of light and darkness determine to a great extent when seasonal activities occur.

An important prerequisite to the response to light that occurs in Winter and Spring is exposure to short days or long nights in Autumn. This phase of the annual cycle is called the Preparatory Phase. This preparation is important for the subsequent response. Under experimental conditions, it is shown that the failure to complete the Preparatory Phase will undermine the organism’s subsequent response to changes in the next phase. Hence, Autumn is a season of preparation for the arrival of Winter and Spring seasons. This preparation has the characteristics of planning and designing the responses of organisms to forthcoming events in the future.

This ability to connect the activities of past and present with activities that occur in the future requires the operation of an unchanging principle that is not influenced by changes of time. The colorful changes that we witness during the Autumn season relate us to the works of a Whole Designer, a Whole Architect, a Whole Planner, and a Whole Artist.

Spiritual Optics – The Spiritual Dimension of Photoperiodism. Monday, September 22, 2025. The Magical Spell of Seasons. Reflections on Autumnal Equinox.

Daily periods of light and darkness determine to a great extent when seasonal activities among living organisms occur. The man exists on the surface of planet Earth experiencing the daily alternating periods of light and darkness and marks his calendar as seasons bring changes with marked regularity.

Photoperiodism was first reported in 1920 when the flowering of certain plants was demonstrated to be controlled by the daily duration of light. The photoperiodic response of plants may actually depend on the duration of the darkness. Some of the conspicuous activities of animals closely correlated with certain seasons of the year or with changes in day length are bird migration, reproduction, and changes in coat and plumage. In most birds, mammals, and other vertebrates, breeding is seasonal. For species such as brook trout, deer, sheep, and goats breeding begins in Autumn. The light stimulates the release of special hormones from the brain which in turn stimulate the pituitary gland which secretes the hormones that function to control the growth of the reproductive organs.

The length of the dark period and the ratio of light to darkness are important factors in determining the reproductive response. Practical applications of knowledge of photoperiodism are common in poultry management, for the length of daylight affects laying, sperm production, and the bodyweight of the fowl.

The most conspicuous seasonal change in coat and plumage occurs in those mammals and birds that are white in Autumn and Winter and brown in Spring and Summer.

Photoperiodism – Biological Rhythms and Biological Clock:

Spiritual Optics – The Spiritual Dimension of Photoperiodism. Monday, September 22, 2025. The Magical Spell of Seasons. Reflections on Autumnal Equinox.

Organisms have synchronized their living functions to their rhythmic environments and have become periodic in diverse aspects of their physiology and behavior. Periodic biological phenomena fall into two distinct, different categories: 1. Those correlated with periodic changes of the planet or geophysical correlates, and 2. Those correlated to an internal timing mechanism often called the ‘Biological Clock’.

Spiritual Optics – The Spiritual Dimension of Photoperiodism. How does Time flows?

The living things to some extent behave like ‘Living Clocks’; 1. A timing capacity geared to the rhythmic variations of the natural environment, the alternating periods of light and darkness called day and night, and 2. A timing capacity that operates in response to the flow of time as the planet Earth spins and moves without providing sensory stimuli of its motions. Timing information continuously flows in from the environment and no organism can exist under constant conditions of life. All life exists on planet Earth which exists in a constant state of motion as a member of the Solar System which also exists in a constant state of motion. The biological rhythm results in part as a direct response to the environment and in part as an indirect response via the complex clock-timed organization.

Spiritual Optics – The Spiritual Dimension of Photoperiodism. Monday, September 22, 2025. The Magical Spell of Seasons. Reflections on Autumnal Equinox.

There are two kinds of biological responses or rhythms. 1. The activities like Sleep and Wakefulness are related to the fluctuations of the physical environment such as darkness, and light, or night and day variation, and 2. The rhythms such as heartbeat and respiratory rate occur without external geophysical correlates as a consequence of the movements of the Earth.

The man’s biological functions are influenced by Earth’s Rotational Spin. A man has the sensory awareness of an environmental change called Day/Night. Otherwise, man is blissfully unaware of Earth’s Motion that happens all the time. The man is always influenced by the flow of time and his existence is measured as if there is a precise internal clock.

Spirituality Science – Earth’s Rotational Spin – Reality vs illusion:

Spiritual Optics – The Spiritual Dimension of Photoperiodism. Monday, September 22, 2025. The Magical Spell of Seasons. Reflections on Autumnal Equinox.

Earth’s Rotational Spin is a unique mechanism that is indissociable from Life itself. While the Sun shines with all its brightness 24-hours all the time, Earth’s Spin allows the man to experience alternating periods of light (Day), and darkness (Night) to plan his physiological functions and activities in the external environment. There is this equally important aspect of Earth’s Spin; the man’s existence on the surface of planet Earth depends upon the lack of direct sensory awareness of the linear and angular speed/velocity of Earth’s motions.

Biological Clocks time the Solar Day, the period of Earth’s spin or rotation relative to the Sun. While Earth spins or rotates, man experiences the illusion of Sun’s apparent motion across the path called Ecliptic and exists on the surface of Earth in a state of blissful ignorance of Earth’s Angular Speed, and Linear Velocity. The daily rhythm of about 24 hours’ duration makes it appear as though the organism is keeping track of each day and behaves as if it is a Living Clock. Light appears to be the dominant Phase Setter as it synchronizes activity pattern during the 24-hour cycles. The 24-hour rhythms are called Solar Day, Circadian, Diel, Daily, Diurnal (day-active), and Night-Active rhythms. Plants show their daily rhythm in sleep movements such as the daytime raising and nighttime lowering of their leaves, and the timing of flowering activity. In man, the daily alternation of sleep and wakefulness is accompanied by many chemical and physiological changes that include the activities of the nervous, endocrine systems, and the liver and kidneys. Daily variations occur in the body temperature, in the heart and respiratory rates, and in blood pressure and composition of blood. There are daily variations in chemical syntheses and in cell divisions. The Living Systems display a timing capacity and behave as if they contain a highly dependable clock. The specialized properties of this clock suggest that it involves some unique biological mechanism indissociable from life itself.

Spiritual Optics – The Spiritual Dimension of Photoperiodism. Monday, September 22, 2025. Reflections on the first day of the Autumn Season. The world or ‘JAGAT’ exists in a constant state of motion. Fundamentally, there is no possibility of the infinite repetition without alteration of each and every moment. Every instant is a new instant as the planet is changing its location all the time.

The ‘immutability’ of Soul or Spirit can be observed as its operations are not influenced by time or external geophysical correlates.

Whole Happy – The creation of Summer Season

Welcome to the Longest Day of the Year

Welcome to the First Day of Summer Season 2025. The summer solstice marks the first day of summer in astronomical terms. On this day, we experience the longest day and shortest night. Dozens of celebrations around the world are attached to this event.

Yes indeed, Life is complicated. The complexities of Life cannot be understood without reference to the external dimensions of Time and Space. Every instant of Lifetime experience is a new experience which has not happened in the past and would not recur in the future for the man exists on the surface of a fast spinning planet which partakes in the motions of Sun and the motions of the Milky Way Galaxy. However, Time seems to flow in a cyclical manner and the man experiences the varying Seasons with constancy.

The June Solstice

Welcome to the First Day of Summer Season 2025. The summer solstice marks the first day of summer in astronomical terms. On this day, we experience the longest day and shortest night. Dozens of celebrations around the world are attached to this event.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the June Solstice (aka Summer Solstice) occurs when the Sun travels along its northernmost path in the sky. This marks the astronomical start of Summer in the northern half of the globe. (In the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the opposite: the June Solstice marks the astronomical start of winter, when the Sun is at its lowest point in the sky.)

When is the Summer Solstice?

Welcome to the First Day of Summer Season 2025. The summer solstice marks the first day of summer in astronomical terms. On this day, we experience the longest day and shortest night. Dozens of celebrations around the world are attached to this event.

The June solstice occurs on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:42 P.M. EDT.

Imagine the Earth orbiting the Sun in space. As we know, our planet both revolves around the Sun and rotates around its own axis — an imaginary straight line through the Earth that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole.

This axis is not perpendicular to the Earth’s orbital plane but is tilted at about 23.5°. This is why throughout the year, the North and South poles lean towards the Sun at different angles.

So the moment when one of the Earth’s hemispheres reaches its maximum tilt toward the Sun is called the summer solstice in that hemisphere. On this day, it receives the most amount of sunlight, which results in the longest day of the year there.

Welcome to the First Day of Summer Season 2025. The summer solstice marks the first day of summer in astronomical terms. On this day, we experience the longest day and shortest night. Dozens of celebrations around the world are attached to this event.

The Solstice marks the official beginning of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring when Earth arrives at the point in its orbit where the North Pole is at its maximum tilt (about 23.5 degrees) toward the Sun, resulting in the longest day and shortest night of the calendar year. (By longest “day,” we mean the longest period of sunlight hours.) On the day of the June solstice, the Northern Hemisphere receives sunlight at the most direct angle of the year.

Astronomically speaking, a new season on any planet (not just the Earth) begins on either a solstice or an equinox. These natural phenomena were used by our ancestors to mark time for thousands of years; they became the basis for the astronomical calendar. But the dates of the solstices and equinoxes change every year, so the length of the seasons varies between 89 and 93 days, making it difficult to compare seasonal data.

To overcome this, meteorologists and climatologists created meteorological seasons, which divide the year into three-month periods based on annual temperature patterns. These seasons better match our civil calendar and are more consistent, making it much easier to calculate seasonal statistics from monthly statistics. Conveniently, both of them are very useful for various purposes, such as agriculture and commerce.

When do the days start getting shorter?

Welcome to the First Day of Summer Season 2025. The summer solstice marks the first day of summer in astronomical terms. On this day, we experience the longest day and shortest night. Dozens of celebrations around the world are attached to this event.

Days get shorter after the day of the summer solstice. This is the day when people experience the most daylight. Then the days become shorter and shorter, and by the autumnal equinox, the length of day and night are almost equal.

Locations closer to the poles experience greater differences in day length throughout the year, so summer days are longer there. In Whitehorse, Canada, which is far north, the longest day in 2024 will be 19 hours and 09 minutes. In Bogota, Colombia, near the equator, the longest day will last for 12 hours and 23 minutes.

Places within the polar circles experience Midnight Sun or polar day for a few days or months when the Sun does not set at all.

Summer on other planets

Every planet in the Solar System experiences seasons because they all have an axial tilt. Only Mercury has such a small axial tilt that we can’t even tell when one season ends and the next one begins. Let’s take a look at how long summer lasts on other planets.

  • Venus: 55-58 days
  • Earth: 89-93 days
  • Mars: 7 months
  • Jupiter: 3 years
  • Saturn: about 7 years
  • Uranus: 21 years
  • Neptune: more than 40 years

Of all the planets, Uranus has the most interesting seasons due to its extreme axial tilt of 98° (the planet basically rotates on its side relative to the plane of the Solar System). Imagine a summer day that lasts for a quarter of your life! This is the case with Uranus, whose summer half faces the Sun continuously for 21 years. Meanwhile, the other (winter) half of this bizarre planet experiences 21 years of night. But in spring and autumn the situation changes. Around the equinoxes, sunlight hits the equatorial region of the planet. Uranus rotates on its axis every 17 hours and 14 minutes. This means that much of the planet has a fairly normal (for us on the Earth) day-night cycle of 17 hours.

Whole Connection – Annapurna represents the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet

Whole Connection – Whole Optics:

Whole Connection – The name Anna+Purna represents the substance called Whole Foods that formulates the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet

Yes Indeed, Life is Complicated. The complexity of Life involves the complexity of Color and Coloration that shapes the World of Colors in which the man exists. I coined the phrase Whole Optics to make the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet.

SPIRITUALISM-THE SCIENCE OF OPTICS-SPIRITUAL LIGHT-SPIRITUAL OPTICS-GOD IS LIGHT:

WHOLE DUDE - WHOLE OPTICS: SPIRITUALISM INVOLVES A SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF LIGHT OR OPTICS. GOD IS LIGHT, LIGHT IS LIFE, AND COLOR IS THE EVIDENCE FOR THE USE OF IMAGINATION TO FORMULATE SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIPS.
Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics makes the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet: SPIRITUALISM, SPIRITUAL LIGHT AND SPIRITUAL OPTICS INVOLVES A SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF LIGHT OR OPTICS. GOD IS LIGHT OR GOD CREATED LIGHT, LIGHT IS ENERGY, LIGHT IS ENERGY OF LIFE, AND COLOR IS THE EVIDENCE FOR THE USE OF IMAGINATION TO FORMULATE SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ENERGY DEPENDENT LIFE AND ENERGY PROVIDING SUPREME BEING.

Optics is the scientific study of Light and the study of Light should be concerned with the genesis, nature, properties of Light and its purpose and role in the establishment of life and interactions among living things.

Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics makes the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet

Without a source of Light, a primary source of external energy, Life is impossible on planet Earth. Further, it can be stated that Light is essential for Life; for the synchronization of life’s living functions, and to generate the experience of peace, harmony, and tranquility in the living condition, or state. Thus Light is associated with the experience called happiness.

Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics makes the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” (The New Testament Book James, 1: 17)

WHOLE DUDE - WHOLE COLORS: The most important function of Light is not that of providing visual sensation. Light performs several non optical functions. Plants do not have the ability to see Light. But, plants have the ability to use light energy to perform biochemical reactions such as Photosynthesis which is a creative mechanism to trap light energy as chemical energy that living things can further use to perform a variety of their living functions.

But, plants have the ability to use light energy to perform biochemical reactions such as Photosynthesis which is a creative mechanism to trap light energy and convert it into chemical energy that living things can further use to perform a variety of their living functions. Hence Light is Divine Providence to transform non living matter into Living Organisms which can be identified by their color, and appearance.

WHAT IS COLOR AND WHAT IS COLORATION?

The term ‘color’ refers to the spectral qualities of emitted or reflected light. The term ‘coloration’ is a dynamic and complex characteristic that has captured human interest and attention for a long time. Human interest to coloration ranges from purely aesthetic to the rigidly pragmatic. Human interest in coloration led to biological studies by the Moravian abbot Gregor Johann Mendel (1822-1884), the botanist who studied inherited characteristics that established the science of Genetics, using visual clues from the coloration of plant flowers.

WHOLE DUDE - WHOLE COLORS: Human interest in Coloration lead Gregor Mendel to conduct his famous studies that established the science called Genetics. He conducted experiments studying the white or pinkish flowers of Pea(Pisum sativum) plants.

BIOLOGICAL COLORATION:

Biological Coloration refers to the general appearance of an organism as determined by the quality and quantity of light that is reflected or emitted from its surface. This Coloration depends upon several factors:

1. The integrity and deployment of the structural units and features involved in the generation of color,

2. The color and distribution of the organism’s pigments, and the relative location of differently colored areas,

3. The shape, posture, position, and movement of the organism,

4. The quality and quantity of light striking the organism, including the seasonal light and temperature variations,

5. The psychological, behavioral, hormonal, and other physiological conditions associated with the use of color,

6. The visual capacity of the viewer.

THE OPTICAL AND NON OPTICAL FUNCTIONS OF COLORATION:

In plants and animals, coloration serves the function of communication. Plants do not have the ability called visual perception and yet they can transmit optical signals to attract the attention of pollinators to achieve reproductive success. Coloration such as ‘advertising coloration’ may emphasize optical signals and thereby enhance communication. Organisms use such communication to modify biotic interactions with other members of their biological community. The coloration may repel, or attract another organism. However, coloration could also be used to suppress optical signals or to specifically create incorrect signals and thereby reduce communication. Thus coloration contributes to adaptive interactions; and the deceptive coloration serves to lessen detrimental or maladaptive interaction with other organisms.

Whole Dude - Whole Colors: The green pigment called Chlorophyll is the only substance in nature able to trap and store the energy of Sunlight. The light absorbed by Chlorophyll molecules is mainly in the red and blue-violet parts of the visible spectrum; the green portion is not absorbed but reflected, and thus Chlorophyll appears Green. The function of Light and Color is that of Creation of Life.
Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics to make the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet: Structures called Chloroplasts found inside the cells of green plants contain the green pigment known as Chlorophyll is the only substance in nature able to trap and store the energy of Sunlight. The light absorbed by Chlorophyll molecules is mainly in the red and blue-violet parts of the visible spectrum; the green portion is not absorbed but reflected, and thus Chlorophyll appears Green. The function of Light and Color is that of Creation of Life.

Coloration may affect an organism in ways other than its interaction with other organisms. Such non optical functions of coloration include physiological roles that depend on the molecular properties(e.g., strength and type of chemical bonds) of the chemicals that create color. Chlorophyll is a green pigment which has the exclusive ability of trapping solar energy. Other examples include, dark hair is mechanically stronger than light hair, and dark feathers resist abrasion better than light feathers. Coloration may play a role in organism’s energy budget because biochromes create color by the differential reflection and absorption of solar energy and can contribute to maintain thermal equilibrium. Color pigments like melanin work as a barrier against the harmful effects of the ultraviolet rays of Sunlight. It is the mechanism for the absorption of heat in cold environments by small cold-blooded animals. Pigments found in the eye limit the incidence of beams of light entering the eye by absorbing scattered light within the eyeball that allows greater visual acuity. Coloration or its pattern affects an animal’s own vision. Surfaces near the  eye may be darkly colored to reduce reflectance that interferes with vision. Emitted light or Bioluminescence forms a portion of the coloration of some organisms. It serves as a light source in nocturnal species or in deep water marine animals such as Pinecones Fishes which have bright photophores or bioluminescent organs.

Whole Dude-Whole Colors: Bioluminescence is a non optical function of Coloration as seen in this deep water fish Monocentris japonicus.
Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics makes the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet: Bioluminescence is a non optical function of Coloration as seen in this deep water fish Monocentris japonicus.

Coloration can result from accumulation of by-products of metabolic processes. The abnormal coloration called ‘jaundice’ or ‘icterus’ describes the greenish-yellow condition of the skin, urine, and eyeballs from increased amounts of bile pigments in the blood and it often indicates a diseased condition like hepatitis, a liver disorder. Similarly, Cyanosis describes a bluish or purple coloration of skin, lips, fingers, eyes, and other mucous membranes caused by lack of oxygen, the presence of desaturated hemoglobin, or abnormal hemoglobin in the blood.

Whole Dude-Whole Colors: Coloration may reveal an underlying diseased condition. This yellow discoloration of eyes and face is called 'Jaundice' or Icterus often caused by Liver inflammation.

SPIRITUAL LIGHT – SPIRITUAL OPTICS:

SPIRITUAL LIGHT - SPIRITUAL OPTICS: This Vedic Hymn called Gayatri Maha Mantra describes the Spiritual Nature of Light and Spiritual Optics involves the illumination of human mind with true or real Knowledge.

Light is the source of Life. The establishment of Light on planet Earth is a creative process that uses light energy to recreate the spectral colors in the lives of individual organisms. The Biological Coloration is the most compelling evidence of the fact of creation. Animals, and plants do not have the ability to generate colors by simply depending upon spontaneous, random, and unguided mutations. Biological Coloration requires complex synchronization of morphological appearance, biotic interactions and behavior of living organisms that share a given environment. Light is the primary source of external energy to support the existence of all living things. The principles of Physical Optics, Geometrical Optics, Physiological Optics have to operate in conjunction with Spiritual Optics to generate the experience of peace, harmony, and tranquility that is fundamental to existence. Life is a manifestation of order to replace disorder, or confusion that could be caused if Light does not provide the stimulus called illumination that drives away darkness. It is no surprise to note that the major Biological Rhythm is called the Diurnal, or Day, or Solar Rhythm.

Whole Review – The philosophy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

Whole Review: The philosophy of the Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. What is Spirit?

Yes Indeed, Life is Complicated. The complexity of Life involves the fundamental nature of existence. Philosophers and Theologians have for a very long time are using terms such as Soul and Spirit without bothering to clarify the distinction between the Living and the Nonliving Matter and further, they leave things to the readers’ imagination without specifying the substance that constitutes the Spirit or Soul.

September 05, President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in India. On Monday, September 05, 2022, I want to share my reflections on the philosophy of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and the history of Special Frontier Force, Establishment No. 22, Vikas Regiment: In India, school children celebrate Dr. Radhakrishnan’s birthday (05 September) as Teachers’ Day and every year that I spent as a student, I had a special reason to remember my family connection with his daughter.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888—1975)

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888 -1975). I met this President during his retired life at his residence in Mylapore,Madras (Chennai). I am related to this President on my maternal side. His daughter married my maternal grandfather’s (Dr. Kasturi. Narayana Murty, M.D. Professor of Medicine Madras Medical College, Madras) younger brother Kasturi. Seshagiri Rao who practiced Law. Mylapore is my birthplace and I grew up there. The reasons for strengthening these connections are as follows: 1. Dr. Sarvepalli studied in Madras Christian College and worked in Presidency College, Madras. My father also studied and worked in Presidency College. I am related and worked with people who studied in Madras Christian College. 2. My father taught Indian History and Radhakrishnan’sresidenceinMylapore son, Sarvepalli Gopal also taught Indian History. 3. Apart from my father, several of my relatives belong to Teaching Profession. 4. As a child, I was aware of Vice President and later President of India in the context of India’s Diplomacy during Cold War Era. 5. The 1962 War happened during his Presidency and Special Frontier Force was formulated during his Presidency. These events shaped my choice to serve in the Indian Army. I was granted Direct Permanent Regular Commission in Army Medical Corps in March 1973 while I served as Medical Officer at Doom Dooma, Assam with Special Frontier Force. Posted by Dr. Rudra Narasimham, Rebbapragada, B.Sc., M.B.B.S.

As an academic, philosopher, and statesman, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888-1975) was one of the most recognized and influential Indian thinkers in academic circles in the 20th century. Throughout his life and extensive writing career, Radhakrishnan sought to define, defend, and promulgate his religion, a religion he variously identified as Hinduism, Vedanta, and the Religion of the Spirit. He sought to demonstrate that his Hinduism was both philosophically coherent and ethically viable. Radhakrishnan’s concern for experience and his extensive knowledge of the Western philosophical and literary traditions has earned him the reputation of being a bridge-builder between India and the West. He often appears to feel at home in the Indian as well as the Western philosophical contexts, and draws from both Western and Indian sources throughout his writing. Because of this, Radhakrishnan has been held up in academic circles as a representative of Hinduism to the West. His lengthy writing career and his many published works have been influential in shaping the West’s understanding of Hinduism, India, and the East. In my analysis, his philosophical thought did not embrace the progress made by Science in the understanding of life and matter.

Whole Review: The philosophy of the Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. What is Spirit? This photo image shows Vice President Radhakrishnan at his New Delhi residence during 1960. I met President Radhakrishnan at his Mylapore, Madras (Chennai) residence after completion of his term of presidency in 1967. He prefers to read while relaxing in his bed. This is the image, I still carry in my memory.

Radhakrishnan located his metaphysics within the Advaita (non-dual) Vedanta tradition (sampradaya). And like other Vedantins before him, Radhakrishnan wrote commentaries on the Prasthanatraya (that is, main primary texts of Vedanta ): the Upanishads (1953),Brahma Sutra (1959), and the Bhagavadgita (1948).

As an Advaitin, Radhakrishnan embraced a metaphysical idealism. But Radhakrishnan’s idealism was such that it recognized the reality and diversity of the world of experience (Prakrit) while at the same time preserving the notion of a wholly transcendent Absolute (Brahman), an Absolute that is identical to the self (Atman). While the world of experience and of everyday things is certainly not ultimate reality as it is subject to change and is characterized by finitude and multiplicity, it nonetheless has its origin and support in the Absolute (Brahman) which is free from all limits, diversity, and distinctions (Nirguṇa). Brahman is the source of the world and its manifestations, but these modes do not affect the integrity of Brahman.

In this vein, Radhakrishnan did not merely reiterate the metaphysics of Shankara (8th century C.E.), arguably Advaita Vedanta’s most prominent and enduring figure, but sought to reinterpret Advaita for present needs. In particular, Radhakrishnan reinterpreted what he saw as Shankara’s understanding of Maya strictly as illusion. For Radhakrishnan, Maya ought not to be understood to imply a strict objective idealism, one in which the world is taken to be inherently disconnected from Brahman, but rather Maya indicates, among other things, a subjective misconception of the world as ultimately real. [See Donald Bauer, Maya in Radhakrishnan’s Thought: Six Meanings Other Than Illusion (1985) for a full treatment of this issue.]

The Material Basis of Spirituality Science. The Truth about Soul or Spirit. Adi Shankara (c. 788 A.D. – c. 820 A.D.), the founder of the Non-Dualist or ADVAITA School of Indian Philosophy has shared his ideas about human soul or spirit which is called ATMA or ATMAN in the Indian Sanskrit language. What is the Truth about Soul or Spirit?

We need a methodology to study philosophy and to understand philosophical statements. Logical Positivism, also known as Scientific Empiricism aims to clarify concepts in both everyday and scientific language. It describes analysis of language as the function of philosophy. This analysis of language and of concepts is important to understand questions of belief and ideology which affect what we think we ought to do individually and socially. I would use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the philosophical doctrine of ‘Advaita’ and to study the views and philosophy of Adi Shankara and his efforts to interpret the true or real identity.

In the study of a man, the know-er and the known are one. The man is the observer and the observed fact is that of the man’s nature. If a man has to know the truth about his true or real self, the man has to understand the truth and reliability of his own cognitive powers. If the Subject called man is identified as an Object called Soul, or Spirit, the Truth or Reality of Soul, or Spirit involves a structural/functional relationship between the Subject and its Object.

September 05. My Musings on the Philosophy of President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. MAN’S EXISTENCE IS SHAPED BY FLAT EARTH WITH ARCHED DOME EXPERIENCE.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s metaphysics fails to account for the existence of the Spirit in the physical, material, terrestrial, or immanent realm called Earth. Just like Shankara, Radhakrishnan claims that the Absolute (Brahman) is identical to the true or real Self (Atman) without clarifying the structural and the functional relationship between the human body and its indwelling Soul, Spirit, or Atman.

Whole Review: The philosophy of the Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. What is Spirit? The Discovery of India – The Indian Traditional Greeting known as ‘NAMASKAR’ represents the essence of Indian Culture.

In any case, Hinduism cannot be defined as the Religion of the Spirit. In my experience, most Hindus worship Mother Earth as the physical manifestation of the Absolute (Brahman). In my analysis, the Spirituality of the Hindu experience always includes a Material Basis to account for the relationship between the man, the Earth, and God.

What is Matter? and What is Spirit? If materialism is about the influence of material wealth, I would like to use the Power/Force/Energy called Money to talk about Life and Death. The Laws of Conservation are applicable to both the living, and the non-living matter. Hence, it can be stated that “Life can neither be created nor destroyed.” If any person can refute my claim using valid, scientific information, I would give the person a US $1,000 bill as a reward

Whole Foods, Whole People, and Whole Planet are connected by a material substance called Protoplasm or Cytoplasm, a divine plan to provide nourishment to Life.

The Rudolf and Rudi Connection can be best described as the concept of Whole Spirituality, the three dimensional spiritual relationship between the multicellular human organism, food, and the Divine Providence.

Spiritualism – The Cell Theory of Spirituality:

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The Discovery of Whole Spirituality.

In Biology, cell is the basic or fundamental unit of structure, function, and organization in all living things or it is the building block of life. Let me begin with my respectful tribute to some of the people who contributed to ‘The Cell Theory’, one of the foundations of Biological Sciences. Cells were first observed in the 17th century shortly after the discovery of the microscope. Robert Hooke, british curator of instruments at The Royal Society of London, during 1665 coined the word cell. Dutch microscopist Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723) made over 247 microscopes and examined microorganisms and tissue samples. He gave the first complete descriptions of bacteria, protozoa (which he called animalcules), spermatozoa, and striped muscle. He also studied capillary circulation and observed Red Blood Cells.

Improvements in microscopy during early 19th century permitted closer observation and the significance of cells had received better understanding. Matthias Jakob Schleiden (1838), German botanist, Theodor Schwann (1839), German physiologist, and Rudolf Virchow (1855), German pathologist, and others made important contributions to the Cell Theory that describes cell as the building block of all Life.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Schleiden, Professor of Botany, The University of Jena studied plant structure under the microscope, published “Contibutions to Phytogenesis” (1838). He had also published the two-volume text of ‘Principles of Scientific Botany’.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Rudolf Virchow, German pathologist in 1855 coined the biological dictum “OMNIS CELLULA E CELLULA” – All living cells arise only from pre-existing living cells.

The Cell is the smallest unit in the living organism that is capable of carrying on the essential life processes of sustaining metabolism for producing energy and reproducing. Many simple, small, single-celled organisms like Protozoa perform all life functions. In higher, complex, bigger, multicellular organisms, groups of cells are structurally and functionally differentiated into specialized tissues and organ systems. Thus, the Cell Theory includes the following foundational principles of the Biological Sciences:

1. All living things are made up of cells. Cell is the most elementary or basic unit of Life.

2. Cell is a fundamental unit of structure, function, and organization in all living things including plants and animals.

3. Cells only rise from division of previously existing cells.

4. All cells are similar in composition, form, and function. All cells are basically the same in chemical composition (in spite of variations) in organisms of similar species. For example, all the solid tissues in the human body can be shown to consist largely of similar cells; differing it is true, but that are essentially similar to an Ovum.

5. The cells exhibit functional autonomy. The activity of an organism depends on the total activity of ‘INDEPENDENT’ cells.

6. Energy flow (metabolism and biochemistry) occurs within cells.

7. Cells contain hereditary, biological information (DNA) which is passed from cell to cell during cell division.

The Cell Theory of Spirituality:

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The Discovery of Whole Spirituality at Whole Foods, Ann Arbor.

The basic or fundamental unit of life in the human organism is derived from the fertilized egg cell that eventually develops into a complete organism. The most significant feature of similarity between the cells of the human body is the presence of a soft, gelatinous, semi-fluid, granular material inside the cell. This substance known as Protoplasm or Cytoplasm, or Cytosol is similar to the ground substance found in the Ovum or the Egg Cell.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Human Ovum Structure – The Cell Theory of Spirituality is based upon the Substance, Structure, Form, Organization, Function, Action and Interactions of this Single Fertilized Egg Cell that eventually develops into a complete human organism.

This viscous, translucent, colloidal substance is enclosed in a membrane called Cell Membrane, Plasma Membrane or Biological Membrane. A small spherical body called nucleus is embedded in the Protoplasm of the cell. The three essential features of any living cell in the human body are that of the presence of protoplasm, the nucleus, and the cell membrane.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider.

Protoplasm – The Ground Substance of Spiritualism and Spirituality:

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to Describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider.

I seek the existence of Soul or Spirit in a substance that is basic to life activities, and in a material that is responsible for all living processes. I, therefore, propose that the understanding of the true or real nature of this ground substance of all living matter will help man to discover peace, harmony, and tranquility in all of his internal and external relationships while man exists in a physical environment as a member of a social group, social community, and Society. In this blog post, I would like to pay my respectful tribute to Jan Evangelista Purkinje and Hugo Von Mohl for their great contribution to the scientific understanding of the living substance, living material, and living matter.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Jan Evangelista Purkyne (Czech name), Jan Evangelista Purkinje (German name)also known as Johannes Evangelist Purkinje, b. December 17, 1787, d. July 28, 1869. The pioneer Czech experimental Physiologist whose investigations in the fields of Histology, Embryology, and Pharmacology helped create a modern understanding of the eye and vision, brain and heart function, mammalian reproduction, and the composition of cells.

Purkinje conducted his research on human vision at the University of Prague and later on, he served there as a Professor of Physiology (1850-69). He went to Germany and was appointed the Chair of Physiology and Pathology (1823-50) at the University of Breslau, Prussia. There Purkinje created the world’s first independent Department of Physiology (1839) and the first Physiological Laboratory (Physiological Institute, 1842). He is best known for his discovery of large nerve cells with many branching extensions found in the cortex of Cerebellum of the brain (Purkinje Cells, 1837). He discovered the fibrous tissue that conducts electrical impulses from the ‘pacemaker’ called Atrioventricular node or A-V node along the inside walls of the ventricles to all parts of the heart to help in Cardiac contractile function (Purkinje Fibers, 1839). In 1835, he invented and introduced the scientific term ‘Protoplasm’ to describe the ground substance found inside young animal embryo cells. He discovered the sweat glands of the skin (1833); he discovered the nine configuration groups of Fingerprints used in biometric identification of man (1823); he described the germinal vesicle or nucleus of the unripe ovum that now bears his name (1825), and he noted the protein digesting power of pancreatic extracts (1836).

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Hugo Von Mohl, b. April 08, 1805, d. April 01, 1872, German Botanist noted for his research on the anatomy and physiology of plant cells.

Hugo Von Mohl named the granular, colloidal material that made up the main substance of the plant cell as “Protoplasm” in 1846. Purkinje invented the word, but Hugo gave more clarity, understanding, and knowing the nature of this ground substance. He viewed cell as an “elementary organ” and in Physiology he explained Protoplasm as an organ of Motion or Movement, Nutrition, and Reproduction. It is the preliminary material in cellular generation. He was the first to propose that new cells are formed by division of preexisting cells and he had observed this process of Cell Division in the algal cells of Conferva glomerata. His observations are very important to understand the Cell Theory that explains cells as the basic building blocks of Life. He was the first to investigate the phenomenon of the stomatal openings in leaves.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The Ground Substance of Spiritualism and Spirituality. The vital characteristics, the animating principles of Protoplasm could be known by observing Amoeba proteus. The Living Substance works as an organ of Motion or Movement, as an organ of Nutrition, and as an organ of Reproduction to generate new cells which have a life span of their own. In these physiological functions, I describe the characteristics such as Cognition, Consciousness, Memory, and Intelligence which have a Spiritual role as they bring functional unity and harmony in the interactions between different parts of the same individual organism while it exists in an environment as a member of a biological community.

Protoplasm is a complex, viscous, translucent solution of such materials as salts and simple sugars with other molecules, mostly proteins and fats, in a colloidal state, that is dispersed but not dissolved in one another. Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen constitute more than 90 percent of Protoplasm.

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality.
God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality.

It exhibits properties such as Protoplasmic Streaming or Cytoplasmic Streaming or Motion that is called “Amoeboid Movement.” It has the intrinsic power to change its shape and position.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The importance of Protoplasmic or Cytoplasmic Streaming is displayed in the transportation of Neuropeptides from the sites of their Synthesis to the sites of their action at the axon terminal of the Nerve Cells.

Protoplasm has the power of Nutrition by which it can attract and obtain the materials necessary for its growth and maintenance from surrounding matter/environment.

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality.

The living functions such as Nutrition, Cellular Respiration, and Reproduction performed by Cytoplasm involve acquiring, processing, retaining, and using information to perform tasks in a sequential manner for a predetermined purpose and hence describe Consciousness, Memory, and Intelligence.

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality. Cellular respiration is a set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.

The terms Soul and Spirit belong to the materialistic realm where the Physical Reality of man’s biological existence is established. I have not yet discovered any good reason to use the terms Soul and Spirit as a metaphysical or transcendental Reality.

The Inheritance of Cytoplasmic Membrane or Cell or Plasma Membrane:

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality. Living cells have a corporeal substance called Protoplasm that has the ability of Spiritual Biotic Interactions. The Biological Membrane or Cell Membrane separates the cell from its environment and other living cells present in the environment. Cells use unique proteins, biological molecules and receptor sites to recognize the other living cells and use chemical signals to facilitate the interactions. Such interactions between living cells have the characteristics of consciousness or awareness.
God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality. Cytoplasmic Membrane or Cell Membrane is an integral feature of Cytoplasm, a limiting membrane devised by Cytoplasm to create boundaries to perform its numerous living functions.

The Functions of Cytoplasmic Membrane or Cell Membrane or Biological Membrane:

1. Protection: It protects the cell from its surroundings or extracellular environment. Plant cell possess wall over the plasma membrane for extra protection and support.

2. Holding cell contents: Plasma membranes hold the semi fluid protoplasmic contents of the cell intact; thus keeping the individuality of the cell.

3. Selective Permeability: Cell membrane allows only selected or specific substances to enter into the cell and are impermeable to others.

  • Gases like O2 and CO2 can diffuse rapidly in solution through membranes.
  • Small compounds like H2O and methane can easily pass through where as sugars, amino acids and charged ions are transported with the help of transport proteins.
  • The size of the molecules which can pass through the plasma membrane is 1-15 A0. This property is responsible for keeping a cell ‘as a cell’, an individual unit.

4. Shape: It maintains form and shape of the cell. It serves as site of anchorage or attachment of the cytoskeleton; thus providing shape to the cell (especially in animal cells without cell wall).

5. Organelles: Cell membrane delimits or covers all sub-cellular structures or organelles like nucleus, mitochondria, plastids, Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum, microbodies etc. thus protecting them form the surroundings and also helps in maintaining a constant internal environment.

6. Compartmentalization: Cell membrane separate the cells from their external environment and cell organelle from cytosol. It help the cells and their organelles to have their own microenvironments, structural and functional individuality.

7. Cell Recognition: With the help of glycolipids and glycoproteins on its surface, cell membranes are able to differentiate similar cells from dissimilar ones, foreign substances and cells own materials. Cell recognition is useful for tissue formation and defence against microbes.

8. Antigens: Cell membranes possess antigens which determine blood grouping, immune response, acceptance or rejection of a transplant (graft rejection by MHC’s on plasma membrane).

9. Microvilli: They are microscopic finger like projections of plasma membrane present on some cells like intestinal epithelial cells, which are involved in a wide variety of functions, including increasing surface area for absorption, secretion, cellular adhesion etc.

10. Sheaths of cilia and flagella: Cilia and flagella are projections from the cell; made up of microtubules which are covered by an extension of the plasma membrane.

11. Cytoplasmic bridges in plasmodesmata and gap junctions: Plasmodesmata in plant cells and gap junctions in animal cells; meant for intercellular transport and communication, form cytoplasmic bridges between adjacent cells through plasma membrane.

12. Endocytosis and Exocytosis: Bulk intake of materials or endocytosis occurs through development of membrane vesicles or invagination and engulfing by plasma membrane.

Exocytosis: It is reverse of endocytosis that provides for releasing waste products and secretory materials ot of the cells with the help of plasma membrane.

13. Impulse transmission in neurons: The transmission of a nerve impulse along a neuron from one end to the other occurs as a result of electrical changes across the plasma membrane of the neuron

14. Cell metabolism: Cell membranes control cell metabolism through selective permeability and retentivity of substances in a cell.

15. Electron transport chain in bacteria: In bacteria; Electron transport chain is located in cell membrane.

16. Osmosis through cell membrane: It is movement of solvent molecules (generally water) from the region of less concentrated solution to the region of high concentrated solution through a semi permeable membrane. Here the semi permeable membrane that helps in osmosis is the cell membrane. Eg: Root cells take up water from the soil by osmosis

17. Carrier proteins for active transport: They occur in the cell membranes and control active transport of substances. Example, GLUT1 is a named carrier protein found in almost all animal cell membranes that transports glucose across the bilayer or plasma membrane.

18. Plasma Membrane enzymes: Many enzymes are present on the plasma membrane with wide variety of catalytic activity. Example: Red blood cell plasma membranes contain a number of enzymes such as ATPases, anion transport protein, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase, protein kinases, adenylate cyclase, acetylcholinesterase.

19. Cell Membrane Receptors: Receptor on the plasma membrane performs signal transduction, converting an extracellular signal into an intra-cellular signal. Membrane possess receptors for hormones, neurotransmitters, antibodies and several other biochemicals.

20. Plasma membrane assisted Cell movements: Undulation and pseudopodia are cell membrane phenomenon involved in cell movement. Amoeba, macrophages and WBCs move with the helps of temporary organelles like pseudopodia. Pseudopods are temporary cytoplasmic projections of the cell membrane in certain unicellular protists such as Amoeba. Some mammalian cells such as fibroblasts can move over a solid surface by wave like undulations of the plasma membrane.

In these physiological functions, I describe the characteristics such as Cognition, Consciousness, Memory, and Intelligence as spiritual attributes of Life as they bring functional unity and harmony in the interactions between different parts of the same individual organism while it exists in an environment as a member of a biological community.

The Spirituality of Substance, Function, Organization, Action, and Interactions:

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The Discovery of Whole Spirituality at Whole Foods, Ann Arbor.

To establish the biological existence of the human organism, I add the concept of Spiritualism and Spirituality to the Cell Theory.

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality.

The Single Fertilized Egg Cell has ground substance that is of Spiritual nature and the Spiritualism and Spirituality consists of the following functional, and organizational characteristics:

1. The Cell is Conscious of its own existence and knows its internal condition and knows it external environment.

2. The Cell is intelligent and it has the cognitive abilities like perception and memory to acquire information, to retain information, to recall information, and to use information in the performance of its complex tasks in a sequential manner.

3. The Cell has the ability to show characteristics such as mutual cooperation, mutual tolerance, and display functional subordination and subservience while being independent.

4. The Cell grows, divides, and develops into a complete organism while it acquires substances and energy from an external environment. The power of Protoplasm/Cytoplasm to attract matter found in its external environment is called Nutrition. The Cell continuously transforms matter to build matter of its own kind for its own benefit to sustain its  existence with its own identity and individuality. The Organism represents a social group or a biological community of Cells. The Spiritual nature of Protoplasm/Cytoplasm brings this functional harmony and unity in the Social Group or Biotic Community of Cells by bringing together its Essence and Existence.

5. The Cell Theory is incomplete for it does not describe the conditioned nature of the Cell’s existence. The Cell represents a Living System that is thermodynamically unstable. It requires a constant supply of matter and energy from its external environment to sustain its living functions. The concept of Whole Spirituality formulates the connection between the Cell and its external source of matter and energy.

The Rudolf and Rudi Connection. The Discovery of Whole Spirituality. The Bone Marrow smear from a patient of Leukemia or Blood Cancer helps to illustrate the nature of Biotic Interactions in the Social Group or Biotic Community that represents the singularity called man. The true or real man can only be discovered by the microscopic study of the Cells that constitute the Organism.

The theoretical claims about Spirit and Soul, the religious and philosophical doctrines of Spiritualism and Spirituality must be verified using the Cell Theory that defines the human organism. To describe Soul or Spirit as  nonmaterial or immaterial Self will not help man to know the real or true man.

THE LIVING CELL IS THERMODYNAMICALLY UNSTABLE. TO EXIST, THE LIVING CELL NEEDS CONTINUOUS SUPPLY OF MATTER AND ENERGY FROM ITS EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT. PROTOPLASM OR CYTOPLASM USES THE POWER OF NUTRITION TO ACQUIRE MATTER AND ENERGY FROM ITS EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT AND ENABLES THE LIVING CELL TO PERFORM A VARIETY OF LIVING FUNCTIONS CALLED METABOLISM.

In my analysis, the discussion about creation must include the study of creative mechanisms that operate the creative events besides the Natural Laws described by Physics and Chemistry. The creative energy/force/power or potency is very much at work sustaining the creation in the present day world.

I coined the phrase Whole Creator to make a synthesis of the creative events described in the Bible and the Hindu scriptures. The Creator is the Originator, the Sustainer, and eventually the Destroyer of all that He creates.

Spirituality Science – The Doctrine of Creation:

I ask my readers to investigate the nature of Living Matter found in different Life Forms to explore the Creative Potency of Matter. In my analysis, the discussion about creation must include the study of creative mechanisms that operate the creative events besides the Natural Laws described by Physics and Chemistry. The creative energy/force/power or potency is very much at work sustaining the creation in the present day world. Creativity is about putting together the known Chemical Elements of Matter to cause the phenomenon described as Creation.

Creation refers to the beginning of things. The ideas and thoughts about creation serve as a basis for the orientation of man in the world and help to specify man’s place in the physical universe. The Doctrine of Creation is the basis to explain man’s status in nature. The act of creation involves to bring into being a new product and the production of the new thing requires application of imagination and the use of Power/Force/Energy. Creation has two aspects; 1. Freedom of Mind to imagine possibilities. It is associated with a power called ‘Inspiration’ that provides the stimulus to both creative thought and action, and 2. Freedom of Action that converts a mental ‘possibility’ into a physical ‘actuality’. The word ‘creative’ is often used to describe the quality or power of creating as seen in the actions of an author, actor, fashion designer, artist, or musician. A created object tends to be original, unique, distinctive, and exists as one of its own kind of object.

Krishna Consciousness – Defining Indian Identity

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: Krishna Consciousness. The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

Krishna is known from the descriptions given in the Indian epic poems of Bhagavata Purana, Mahabharat, and The Bhagavad Gita (The Lord’s Song).
Jayadeva (late 12th century), the author of celebrated Sanskrit poem ‘GITA GOVINDA’ (“Song of Cowherd”), described Lord Krishna’s delightful and enchanting pastimes, His playful activities are popularly known as “Raas Leela.” Jayadeva used the Sanskrit word “Adbhuta” (an amazing feat) to narrate the mystical ability of Krishna to present Himself in several different forms at one and the same time. Jayadeva’s Gita Govinda gives the readers a sense of joy and the devotional service to Lord Krishna gives a chance to experience a sense of sweetness which is called Madhurya in the Sanskrit Language.
Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (16th century) established the sublime doctrine of Krishna: ‘Simultaneously One and Different’. He promoted devotion to Krishna and I claim that ‘Krishna Consciousness’ defines my Indian Identity.

Lord Krishna – The Cause of all Causes (The Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 7, The Yoga of Wisdom, The Knowledge of Absolute, verse 19):
Lord Krishna is the primary cause of all material manifestations. The Sanskrit word ‘Maya’ describes the creative energy or potency of Lord Krishna (Bhagavad Gita 7:25).

Maya is the governing principle of the material manifestation of the universe and all that it contains. Krishna described Himself as the Supreme Lord, as the governing principle of material manifestation (Bhagavad Gita 7:30).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

The creative energy works on three different levels. 1. Material creation leads to the creation of the total material energy known by the Sanskrit word Maha Tattva. 2. The creative principle enters into all the universes to create diversities in each of them. The fundamental particles that constitute matter have varying characteristics and properties. The individual variations are an attribute of a creative process. 3. The creative force is diffused as the all-pervading Supersoul in all the universes and is known by the Sanskrit word ‘Paramatma’. It is present even in atoms.

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

The material universe is a manifestation of the energy of the Lord. All the activities of the material world are directed by the above mentioned three forms of creative energy. However, a distinction could be made between non-living matter and the living entities. It may be said that the living entities are the manifestation of superior energy as they exist by exploiting the products of the gross and subtle inferior energy that manifests as matter (Bhagavad Gita 7:5).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

Krishna consciousness is active in every sphere. Earth, water, fire, air, and every active principle, all chemicals, and all material elements are due to Krishna (Bhagavad Gita 7:4).

Lord Krishna is the original seed of all existences (Bhagavad Gita 7:10).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya.

Most interestingly, a similar claim is made in the Gospel According to Apostle John. The Book of John, chapter 1, verse 3 states, “All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made.” The Bhagavad Gita describes Lord Krishna as the Controller, and all living entities are controlled by Him.

THE DIVERSE ENERGIES OF THE LORD:

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya.

All states or modes of existence such as goodness, passion, and ignorance are manifestations of His energy (Bhagavad Gita 7:12). The material nature is known by the Sanskrit word ‘Prakriti’, and all living entities are viewed as the multi energies of Krishna.
The difference lies in the quantity of energy that they contain. Energies are always controlled by the ‘Energetic’, the true source of energy. As such living entities are always controlled and they have no independent existence. While Krishna is everything, but He is independent. He is not controlled by the modes of this material nature (Bhagavad Gita 7:12).

Humans exist by drawing energy from material nature and Krishna has no such dependence. Human life is a manifestation of the creative power and energy and the existence is dependent upon the five life-giving forces contained in the material nature. Sun and moon are seen as components of the sky. They control the biological rhythms of all living creatures. The energy from Sun is trapped by the plants and is converted into complex compounds by a process known as photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is also the source of stored energies such as coal, fossil fuels, and natural gas. The Earth and its atmosphere provide all the nutrients (directly or indirectly via the mechanism of the food chains), the minerals, and the elements that are important for the structure and functioning of living entities. Water is the chief ingredient of living organisms. The act of breathing, the mechanism of respiration is an important physiological mechanism for living cells. The ability to use wind/air to a great extent defines the living process. Respiration is the process by which the cells generate energy for their activities. Fire provides the heat and energy for all metabolic activities and we exist by burning sugars and other energy providing sources. Nature (Five Life giving Energies) supports life and it helps to bring forth new members from preexisting forms of life but can not generate new beings on its own. Life can not begin spontaneously without the intervention of a creative force/energy.

What is Creativity?

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. All living things exist as Individuals with Individuality even if the Genome is cloned or genetically identical. The variation expressed is the nature of the DNA molecule.

Creative power is the power that is able to bring forth new beings. Creativity is the ability to make or otherwise bring into existence something new. The single most important element in the creative process is believed to be originality or uniqueness. Nature (Five Life giving Energies) helps in the process of replication/reproduction and sustains life. As per the Biogenetic Law, a species breeds to produce its own kind. Creativity imparts that label of distinctiveness by causing individualistic variations.
Krishna is the personification of that creative energy and the beautiful paintings of ‘Raas Leela’ are an example of His ability to be one and different at the same time.

SUPREME  PHENOMENON

Supreme Phenomenon of Human Birth – The Celebration of Lord Krishna. SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE KNOWER-THE KNOWING-SELF: MAN, THE ENTIRE HUMAN ORGANISM IS DERIVED FROM A SINGLE FERTILIZED EGG CELL . HOW IS THE IDENTITY AND INDIVIDUALITY IS ESTABLISHED AND IS KNOWN IN THIS COMPLEX MULTICELLULAR ORGANISM?

By R. Suryanarayana Murthy

I saw thee dragging thy feet up the stairs

Making me watch every movement of thine

Step by step, you steadied up,

Thy broad smile hiding all thy effort

What angel pushes thee up no eye can see.

I saw thee stretching, hugging the mother earth,

Rising and falling while crawling all the way;

All to thyself, no pitfall to frighten thee,

Nor danger lurking can stop thee going

And when the journey was finished there is that glow

“Who can beat me in the race?” thy challenge goes out

Thou art the victor in all such deeds.

Thou wert the star attraction of all ages,

Napoleon acclaiming thee as the greatest of all creation;

Saintly Gandhi hugged thee to press his lips on thine

“Chacha” Nehru crawled by thy side forgetting his power and pomp;

Can the royal throne or sceptred sway provide anything equal to thee?

Thou hast remained through ages humanity’s main hope in a naughty world.

Why did the Buddha see in thy birth unredeemed sorrow and suffering?

Why was it that Jesus saw in thy advent the gnawing pain of unsullied sin?

Or why was it the great Sankara said that thy emergence was enveloped in ‘Maya’ or illusion?

Thou did confound every philosopher and kept to thyself the mystery surrounding thy species

Thou an enigma and a riddle proclaiming the unanswerable divine will.

Still the world all over rejoices in thee and gives thee royal welcome

Without thee life is a desert with no flower to bloom,

Without thee the sweetest of poetry finds no place in heart

Thou art the greatest messenger of love

And give thy message to everybody, “Love thy neighbour as thou lovest thy child,

And see in every person a latent child

And discard all hatred that corrodes the soul.”

What more sublime is there than thy living touch

What greater joy is there than thy winning smile?

For me thou art a Supreme Phenomenon

With none to surpass not even the father, nor the mother.

Whole Designer – The Designing of Red Blood Cell

Whole Designer: The spiritual nature of the Red Blood Cell Design. Spiritual Optics. The Designing of the Red Blood Cells

Yes Indeed, Life is Complicated. The complexity of Life involves the use of a very complex predetermined plan to design the tissues, the organs, and the organ systems of the entire human organism from a single, fertilized egg cell that divides and differentiates into a most complex variety of cells which perform very specialized functions. The Red Blood Cell provides the connective linkage to sustain the living functions of the trillions of the building blocks of the human body.

Whole Dude - Whole Designer - Red Blood Cells: In multicellular organisms, cells with the same genes must differentiate into many types. Complex control mechanisms determine which genes are active in a given cell at a given time. Human life begins as a single fertilized Egg Cell. The multicellular organism grows and develops as it has definite capabilities for differentiation. The "Design" of cells has been modified to serve the specialized functions of tissues and organs that comprise the human body. Red Blood Cells are "designed" to perform their highly specialized functions.

The multicellular organism grows and develops as it has definite capabilities for differentiation. The “Design” of cells has been modified to serve the specialized functions of tissues and organs that comprise the human body. Red Blood Cells are “designed” to perform their highly specialized functions.

If man is viewed as a multicellular organism, the human subject finds his objective existence because of the living functions of the cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems that provide the biological basis for that existence.

The spiritual nature of the Red Blood Cell Design: Man, the entire human organism is derived from a single, fertilized Egg Cell. How does this complex multicellular organism knows its own Identity and Individuality?

In multicellular eukaryotes, cells with the same genes must differentiate into many types. Multicellularity is accomplished by definite capabilities for differentiation. The functional differentiation is not a simple process that can be called adaptation. To achieve differentiation, complex control mechanisms determine which genes are active in a given cell at a given time. The “Design” of cells has been modified by a predetermined plan to serve the specialized function of tissues and organs. The structural differentiation and the functional organization of various organ systems makes man a very complex living organism.

The spiritual nature of the Red Blood Cell Design. The Whole Person, The Whole Man, The Whole Body, Mind, and Spirit, The Whole Dude, or the entire human organism is derived from this single, fertilized Egg Cell which I describe as “The Whole Cell.”

It must be clearly understood that the living cell is a thermodynamically unstable system. This means that without a continuous input of energy, a cell will degrade spontaneously into a nonliving collection of molecules. The cells that comprise the human organism derive their energy by oxidation of food substances such as glucose. The cells of the body require oxygen to obtain the energy stored in food substances. The loss of oxygen is very critical as there is no means of storing oxygen in the human body. During the entire course of human life, the human body requires continuous delivery of oxygen to its various cells, tissues, and organs. The Red Blood Cells display functional subordination to the requirements of the organism as a Whole.

Altruism is a theory of conduct that regards the good of others as the end of moral action. The Red Blood Cells have very short, individual lifespans and the entire period of their existence involves unselfish concern for the welfare of other cells.

Whole Dude – Whole Designer – Red Blood Cell: Red Blood Cells are packed with hemoglobin. Each Red Cell contains over 600 million hemoglobin molecules. A normal man has about 5 liters of blood containing more than 25 trillion Red Blood Cells. Each lives for about 100 to 120 days. Red Blood Cells sustain their meagre energy needs by a form of anaerobic respiration. If man is viewed as a biotic community of cells, Red Cells show no concern for their individual gains or losses and they serve and contribute to the continuation of the Whole community.

Red Blood Cells, or Erythrocytes, or Red Corpuscles are tiny, flat, round, biconcave disks, with depressed center, averaging 7.5 microns in diameter. In its profile view, the Red Blood Cell appears dumbell-shaped. A normal man has about 5  liters of blood containing more than 25 trillion Red Blood Cells. There are about 5.2 million Red Blood Cells per cubic millimeter of blood in adult humans. The normal lifespan of Red Cells is only about 100 to 120 days. More than 200 billion Red Cells are normally destroyed each day by the spleen and must be replaced. The creation of new Red Cells and their subsequent destruction proceeds during all the days of human life. The Red Cells give the blood its characteristic color. The cell is flexible and can change its shape to pass through extremely small blood vessels. It is covered with a membrane composed of lipids and proteins. The mature Red Blood Cells lacks a nucleus and hence cannot divide into new daughter cells. The mature Red Blood Cell also lacks intracellular organelles called mitochondria which provide energy for metabolic functions. During the course of its development and maturation, the nucleus and mitochondria disappear from the Red Cell.

The amount of oxygen required by the Red Cell for its own metabolism is very low. The Red Cell shows the features of a careful design or plan that makes it to perform its function of delivering oxygen with great efficiency. In invertebrate organisms, the oxygen-carrying pigment called Heme is found in a free state in the plasma for they lack the Red Blood Cells. The concentration of Heme pigment and the biconcave shape of the Red Blood Cell makes it very efficient  to perform the function of exchange of gases; the Red Cell can deliver almost all of its oxygen it carries and free it into the tissues where there is demand for oxygen and its shape allows oxygen exchange at a constant rate over the largest possible area.

WholeDude - WholeDesigner - Red Blood Cell: The Red Cell has the ability to work as an oxygen sensor and it also has the ability to modulate the tone of the blood vessel in which it travels passively. By initiating a mechanism, the Red Cell can cause an effect called vasodilatation that would increase the flow of blood in microvasculature to meet the local tissue oxygen demand.

WholeDude - Whole Designer - Red Blood Cell: The Red Cells move passively in the blood circulation, but can actively interact with the blood vessel in response to the oxygen tension of the tissues. These interactions are helped by PR(Purinergic Receptor), Erythrocyte-derived Adenosine triphosphate(ATP), Gi(Heterotrimeric G Protein), cAMP(3'5'-Adenosine monophosphate), PKA(Protein Kinase A), CFTR(Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator, ? undientified conduit for ATP release + stimulation. Through oxygen-dependent release of the vasodilator ATP, signal transduction within the RBC and microvessels, the SMC(the smooth muscle cell) of the blood vessel is stimulated to dilate. The signals pass through the Endo(endothelium) or the cells that line the inner surface of the blood vessel.

The main function of the Red Cells is to transport oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and organs of the entire human body. During the process of oxidation, the cells generate carbon dioxide as a waste product which must be removed. The Red Cells carry carbon dioxide to the lungs and release it to be returned to the atmospheric air. This is possible because of hemoglobin which forms unstable, reversible bond with oxygen; in the oxygenated state it is called Oxyhemoglobin and is bright red in color. When oxygen is delivered, in the reduced state the hemoglobin is purple-blue and this color can be easily noticed from the color of the veins that return blood to heart from various parts of the body. Asphyxiation occurs when the blood contains an excess of substances like carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide with which hemoglobin forms semipermanent or permanent compounds instead of reversible bonds that hemoglobin forms with oxygen.

Whole Dude – Whole Designer – Red Blood Cell: The Magic of Creation will be appreciated by simply comparing  the structure of Hemoglobin molecule with Chlorophyll molecule. The affinity of Hemoglobin molecule for oxygen is predetermined by the ability of Chlorophyll molecule to trap radiant energy which is converted into chemical energy during the photosynthetic reaction. These molecules perform goal-oriented, sequential actions to achieve a predetermined purpose. Living things obtain energy not because of random, unguided, interactions of chemical molecules.

The Magic of Creation will be appreciated when its structure and function is compared with the structure and function of Chlorophyll molecules that impart green color to plants.
WholeDude - WholeDesigner - Red Blood Cell: Heme is a respiratory pigment found in the Red Blood Cells of all vertebrates and some invertebrates. Pigment is a substance that implants color to materials. Plants derive their green color from Chlorophyll pigment, and blood derives it red color from Heme pigment. Both Chlorophyll and Heme are similar molecules containing ring structures called Porphyrins. Chlorophyll contains Magnesium and Heme contains Iron that imparts the red color.

Adult hemoglobin is an alpha(2):beta(2) tetrameric hemeprotein; a combination of heme and the protein component called globin. Each subunit of a hemoglobin tetramer has a heme prosthetic group. The variations in amino acid composition impart marked differences in hemoglobin’s oxygen carrying properties. The quaternary structure of hemoglobin leads to physiologically important allosteric interactions between the subunits. Oxygen is incrementally loaded into the four subunits. In deoxygenated tissue, oxygen is incrementally unloaded from the four subunits and the affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen is reduced. Thus at the lowest oxygen tensions found in very active tissues, the bonding affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen is very low allowing maximal delivery of oxygen to the tissues.

To maintain the status called good and positive health, the cells, tissues, and organs of the multicellular human organism have to be interacting with each other in a harmonious manner. These interactions during normal, good health display characteristics such as mutual assistance, mutual cooperation, mutual tolerance, and mutual functional subordination to provide a benefit to the human individual who lives because of the functions of the cells, tissues, and organs that comprise his human body.

Spiritual Biotic Interactions – The Role of Red Blood Cells:

Whole Dude – Whole Designer – Red Blood Cell: The nature of Spiritual Biotic Interactions that maintain man’s existence can be studied by knowing the role of Red Blood Cells and their interaction with the tissues, and organs of the entire human body.

The terrestrial human organism represents a biotic, or biological community of about 100 trillion, individual, independent, mostly autonomous living cells that participate in constant interactions with each other. These interactions at cellular level are dependent upon the cognitive nature of the living cell. The living cell has the ability to recognize the presence of other cells in its immediate, external environment. The life of all of the cells in this biotic community that forms the human body requires energy input from an external source.

The term “Spiritual” describes a relationship, a partnership, an association, a bonding, or a connection between two living entities that can formulate an interaction that can display features such as assistance, cooperation, tolerance, subservience, subordination, sympathy, and compassion to provide some benefit to the partner that is participating in the biotic interaction.

The Red Blood Cells interact with the cells of tissues, and organs of human body to provide them a service, assistance, or a benefit without seeking any benefit in return. The Red Blood Cells do not seek to reproduce, have very minimal requirement for energy and willingly deliver oxygen to the tissues and relieve them from the burden imposed by the waste products of their metabolic activities. The ‘spiritual’ nature of such interaction is a reflection of the ‘spiritual’ nature of the Creator of the living entities who could be called the Whole Artist, the Whole Designer, or the Whole Architect who meticulously planned and instituted the mechanisms and provided the necessary tools for such varied interdependent, and interrelated interactions between living cells. Thus, the Red Blood Cells constitute the principal stabilizing, connective linkage among the trillions of living cells that comprise the biological community which gets recognized as the human being.

Whole Dude – Whole Designer – Red Blood Cells: Erythrocytes are tiny, flat, round, biconcave disks averaging 7.5 microns in diameter. Red Blood Cells are made in the bone marrow and are derived from parent cells that do not appear red in color.

Whole Dude – Whole Entropy

The Laws of Thermodynamics help to study the function of Consciousness or Chetana

Bharat Darshan -Defining Spirituality from a Study of the Laws of Thermodynamics. The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System

What it is to be a Substance? and What it is to Exist? We need to establish knowledge about the man on a firm basis and the information it provides must be tested for its accuracy and consistency with an external reality.

Bharat Darshan -Defining Spirituality from a Study of the Laws of Thermodynamics. The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. What it is to be a Substance? and What it is to Exist?

We need a methodology to study philosophy and to understand philosophical statements. Logical Positivism, also known as Scientific Empiricism aims to clarify concepts in both everyday and scientific language. It describes analysis of language as the function of philosophy. This analysis of language and of concepts is important to understand questions of belief and ideology which affect what we think we ought to do individually and socially. I use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the concept of Spiritual Optics, the Spiritual Connection between Energy and Life. The Laws of Thermodynamics are important unifying principles of Biology. The First Law of Thermodynamics, also known as the Law of Conservation of Energy, states that Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Spiritual Optics accounts for the capacity of photoreception and the term Spiritual Light refers to the creation of Light by God to begin the designing of Matter described by Physics and Chemistry. I may not be able to discover the Purpose in my Life if I exist in Spiritual Darkness.

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Rudolf Julius Emanuel Clausius (1822-1888), German physicist and mathematician, the Founder of the Science of Thermodynamics. His work in 1850, ‘On the mechanical theory of heat’ established the Second Law of Thermodynamics and during 1865, he introduced the concept of Entropy.

Thermodynamics and Entropy:

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Entropy is the thermodynamic property toward equilibrium/average/homogenization/dissipation. Ice melting in a warm room is a common example of increasing entropy; an increase in the motions/positions of the water molecules in solid ice: Order leading to Disorder.

Thermodynamics is the branch of science concerned with the nature of Heat and its conversion into other forms of energy. Heat is internal energy of a substance and it is a form of energy associated with the positions and motions of its component molecules, atoms, and ions. The total energy that a body contains as a result of the positions and the motions of its component parts is called its internal energy. The First Law of Thermodynamics states: “In any process, energy can be changed from one form to another (including heat and work), but it is never created or destroyed.” In any process, the change in a System’s internal energy is equal to the heat absorbed from the environment minus the work done on the environment. This Law of Conservation of Heat is similar to the Law of Conservation of Energy. According to the Second Law of Thermodynamics, during any spontaneous process, the change in entropy of a System is either zero or positive. The term ‘entropy’ in Thermodynamics indicates the degree to which a given quantity of thermal energy is available for doing useful work- the greater the entropy, the less available the energy. A consequence of the Second Law is that an engine can deliver work only when heat is transferred from a hot reservoir to a cold reservoir or heat sink. In 1877, Ludwig Boltzmann, an Austrian physicist demonstrated the significance of entropy on the molecular level relating entropy to disorder at the level of the molecules of the System. This concept of entropy as a measure of disorder is also used in Information Theory. Entropy represents quantity specifying the amount of disorder or randomness in a System bearing energy or information. However, in Information Theory, entropy represents the “noise”, or random errors occurring in the transmission of signals or messages. It is important to know that heat and work are related and represent forms of energy that can be inter-converted. The study of Thermodynamics is central to both Chemistry and Physics and is useful in understanding biological processes such as Temperature Regulation in human body. While Thermodynamics studies changes in Physical State or Condition such as solid ice becoming liquid water, it is important to remember that the chemical properties of water molecules remain the same while the physical condition of water may change from solid, liquid, and gas.

Temperature Regulation and Spiritualism:

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Human body uses various homeostatic, physiological mechanisms to regulate body temperature and it is aided by the physical laws of environment heat exchange to maintain the internal temperature close to 37 degrees centigrade.

The ability of an organism to keep body temperature within certain boundaries is critical for the survival of the organism. Human body maintains its internal body temperature close to 37 degrees centigrade by balancing heat production and heat loss.

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Internal thermal normality is maintained by the Thermosensitive cells of the Heat center in Hypothalamus of the brain. It receives the stimuli from the thermosensitive receptors in the deep layers of the skin. Hypothalamus can initiate the temperature regulatory response via the nerve, and the hormone pathways. It sends impulses to the Temperature Regulating center in the medulla of the brain stem. The hormonal response involves the Pituitary- Adrenal Cortex pathway.

The external physical laws of thermal exchange which influence the body heat balance are Conduction, Radiation, Convection, and Evaporation from the body surface. In all medical conditions and health conditions that are related to climatic variation in temperature such as Hypothermia, or Heat Stroke (Heat Hyperpyrexia), the medical interventions use the principles of Thermodynamics.

The Living System is an Open System that is thermodynamically unstable and hence it constantly requires input of energy from an external source. Life comes into existence when energy-yielding molecules and energy-demanding molecules come together in a spiritual relationship. The term ‘Spiritual’ describes the nature of a relationship, a partnership, a connection, bonding, or an association between chemical molecules based upon characteristics such as that of providing some benefit to keep the System to continue its functions.

The Laws of Thermodynamics and the concept of Consciousness in Living Systems: The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Human body uses various homeostatic, physiological mechanisms to regulate body temperature and it is aided by the physical laws of environment heat exchange to maintain the internal temperature close to 37 degrees centigrade.

In a Living System, the conversion of energy into work involves the operation of Consciousness and the application of Knowledge. Consciousness or awareness is the mechanism that operates the structural and functional relationship between molecules. Consciousness is the principle by which a Living System that is thermodynamically unstable knows the fact of its own existence, it knows as to where it exists and knows as to how it is existing. Hence, Consciousness is a Spiritual mechanism as it establishes a relationship between the energy-dependent Living System and its energy-yielding provider. This is a relationship that requires use of Knowledge which is defined as the fact of knowing a range of information which is used to perform highly selective, sequential tasks under proper guidance. In the operation of a Living System, there is no random, unguided and unpredictable movement of molecules.

I speak about Life as structural and functional organization of matter with implanted knowledge. Spiritualism is the potency that generates the experience of Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the interactions within the Living System and between Living Systems. The statement, “When Entropy leads to Order” is not applicable to the Living Systems that are Open. Soul or Spirit is the Life Principle; the vital or animating principle found in all the Living Things. Spiritualism is the guiding mechanism to establish Order in Biotic Actions and Interactions and the term ‘Disorder’ is often associated with either dysfunction or disease.

WHEN ENTROPY LEADS TO ORDER:

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Computer simulations by University of Michigan researchers Pablo Damasceno, Sharon Glotzer, and Michael Engel have shown how entropy can nudge nanoparticles into organized structures. They can even predict what kinds of structures will form. Image credit: Laura Rudich

The second law of thermodynamics says that in a closed system, entropy — colloquially thought of as a measure of disorder or uncertainty — cannot decrease. Sharon Glotzer studies the counterintuitive instances when entropy doesn’t work that way.

Researchers trying to herd tiny particles into useful ordered formations have found an unlikely ally: entropy, a tendency generally described as “disorder.” Computer simulations by University of Michigan scientists and engineers show that the property can nudge particles to form organized structures. By analyzing the shapes of the particles beforehand, they can even predict what kinds of structures will form. The findings, published in Science, help lay the ground rules for making designer materials with wild capabilities such as shape-shifting skins to camouflage a vehicle or optimize its aerodynamics.Physicist and chemical engineering professor Sharon Glotzer proposes that such materials could be designed by working backward from the desired properties to generate a blueprint. That design can then be realized with nanoparticles—particles a thousand times smaller than the width of a human hair that can combine in ways that would be impossible through ordinary chemistry alone. One of the major challenges is persuading the nanoparticles to create the intended structures, but recent studies by Glotzer’s group and others showed that some simple particle shapes do so spontaneously as the particles are crowded together. The team wondered if other particle shapes could do the same.”We studied 145 different shapes, and that gave us more data than anyone has ever had on these types of potential crystal-formers,” Glotzer said, “With so much information, we could begin to see just how many structures are possible from particle shape alone, and look for trends.”Using computer code written by chemical engineering research investigator Michael Engel, applied physics graduate student Pablo Damasceno ran thousands of virtual experiments, exploring how each shape behaved under different levels of crowding. The program could handle any polyhedral shape, such as dice with any number of sides. Left to their own devices, drifting particles find the arrangements with the highest entropy. That arrangement matches the idea that entropy is a disorder if the particles have enough space: they disperse, pointed in random directions. But crowded tightly, the particles began forming crystal structures like atoms do—even though they couldn’t make bonds. These ordered crystals had to be the high-entropy arrangements, too.

Glotzer explains that this isn’t really disorder creating order—entropy needs its image updated. Instead, she describes it as a measure of possibilities. If you could turn off gravity and empty a bag full of dice into a jar, the floating dice would point every which way. However, if you keep adding dice, eventually space becomes so limited that the dice have more options to align face-to-face. The same thing happens to the nanoparticles, which are so small that they feel entropy’s influence more strongly than gravity’s. “It’s all about options. In this case, ordered arrangements produce the most possibilities, the most options. It’s counterintuitive, to be sure,” Glotzer said. The simulation results showed that nearly 70% of the shapes tested produced crystal-like structures under entropy alone. But the shocker was how complicated some of these structures were, with up to 52 particles involved in the pattern that repeated throughout the crystal.”That’s an extraordinarily complex crystal structure even for atoms to form, let alone particles that can’t chemically bond,” Glotzer said. The particle shapes produced three crystal types: regular crystals like salt, liquid crystals as found in some flat-screen televisions and plastic crystals in which particles can spin in place. By analyzing the shape of the particle and how groups of them behave before they crystallize, Damasceno said that it is possible to predict which type of crystal the particles would make.”The geometry of the particles themselves holds the secret for their assembly behavior,” he said. Why the other 30% never formed crystal structures, remaining as disordered glasses, is a mystery.”These may still want to form crystals but got stuck. What’s neat is that for any particle that gets stuck, we had other, awfully similar shapes forming crystals,” Glotzer said. In addition to finding out more about how to coax nanoparticles into structures, her team will also try to discover why some shapes resist order.

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Shape has a pervasive but often overlooked impact on how natural systems are ordered. At the same time, entropy (the probabilistic measure of the degree of energy delocalization in a system) – while often misunderstood as the state of a system’s disorder – and emergence (the sometimes controversial observance of macroscopic behaviors not seen in isolated systems of a few constituents) are two areas of research that have long received, and are likely to continue receiving, significant scientific attention. Now, materials science and chemical engineering researchers working with computer simulations of colloidal suspensions of hard nanoparticles at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor have linked entropy and emergence through a little-understood property they refer to as shape entropy – an emergent, entropic effect – unrelated to geometric entropy or topological entropy – that differs from and competes with intrinsic shape properties that arise from both the shape geometry and the material itself and affect surface, chemical and other intrinsic properties.
