The Celebration of World Water Day on March 22

World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.

Water: Our Common Wealth

The Importance of Water

River Ganga meandering through the Shivalik ranges near Rishikesh symbolizes my WAVE THEORY OF IMMORTALITY. Man always exists in constant relationship with his physical environment. Immortality is not about perpetual residence in a Heavenly Mansion. Immortality is associated with the idea of Ultimate Reality which is represented by SAT+CHIT+ANANDA. In this physical world, the Indian Identity is immortalized by the flowing River adoringly described as Mother Ganges.
The Celebration of World Water Day on March 22

World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, focuses on the importance of freshwater.

Celebrating World Water Day

The Celebration of World Water Day on March 22, 2024. The Panna Meena Ka Kund Stepwell, Jaipur, Bharat.

The stepwell that these women are climbing is an apt image to mark World Water Day. Stepwells originated in western India over a thousand years ago as way for locals in that arid climate to easily and reliably access fresh water—even during the driest months. The Panna Meena Ka Kund stepwell in Jaipur is a classic example of the beautiful, regular, geometric architecture used to produce these useful public works. Most stepwells also feature shaded side chambers where locals (primarily women) can gather to escape the heat of the day.

In this image, one can see obvious signs of previous high-water marks on the well’s walls as seasonal fluctuations and the changing climate affect water levels throughout the region. The impact of climate change on fresh water accessibility is the theme that the United Nations has chosen for World Water Day 2020. The goal of today’s observance is to focus attention and energy not just on those problems, but on potential solutions as well.

Water and Climate Change

The Celebration of Spiritual Dimension of Water on World Water Day

World Water Day 2020 is about water and climate change – and how the two are inextricably linked. The campaign shows how our use of water will help reduce floods, droughts, scarcity and pollution, and will help fight climate change itself.

By adapting to the water effects of climate change, we will protect health and save lives. And, by using water more efficiently, we will reduce greenhouse gases.

Our key messages for this day are clear:

  • We cannot afford to wait. Climate policy makers must put water at the heart of action plans.
  • Water can help fight climate change. There are sustainable, affordable and scalable water and sanitation solutions.
  • Everyone has a role to play. In our daily lives, there are surprisingly easy steps we can all take to address climate change.

History of the Day

The Celebration of World Water Day on March 22

The idea for this international day goes back to 1992, the year in which the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro took place. That same year, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution by which 22 March of each year was declared World Day for Water, to be observed starting in 1993.

Later on, other celebrations and events were added. For instance, the International Year of Cooperation in the Water Sphere 2013, and the current International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028. These observances serve to reaffirm that water and sanitation measures are key to poverty reduction, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.

Water Molecule looks very simple and yet it plays a mysterious role inside all living cells. It is essential to Life and its propagation. Its Spiritual nature is revealed by its pure, original, and sweet taste it imparts apart from its role as a Chemical Compound. It is the main mode of transport of many Elements that are needed by the living organisms. Water is the Agent that leaches Nutrient Elements and Compounds from rocks and soils and makes them available for use by plants, and animals.

Whole Colors – The Celebration of Joy and Love

The Festival of Colors is about the Celebration of Joy and Love

The Celebration of Holi, the Festival of Colors on March 14, 2025.

Holi is celebrated at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, on the last full moon day of the Hindu luni-solar calendar month of Falgun. The date of the festival varies depending on the lunar cycle. Typically, it falls in March, and will be celebrated this year on March 14. The Full Moon of March 2025 is associated with Lunar Eclipse on the night of Thursday, March 13.

Phalgun Purnima occurs in Phalgun (or Falgun), the final month of the Hindu Lunar Calendar, at the end of the Shukla Paksha (Waxing Lunar fortnight).

The ceremonies related to Kama Dahanam are similar to those for Holika Dahan. But the mythology behind Kama Dahanam is different. It relates to the sacrifice made by Lord Kamadeva who disturbed the penance of Lord Shiva to get His attention to Goddess Parvati. In Tamil Nadu, it is called Kaman Pandigai, and as Kamuni Panduga in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Holi is more of a North Indian festival.

Why India Celebrates Holi: The Legends Behind the Festival of Color – CNN

By Manveena Suri, CNN

Bharat Darshan – The Celebration of Holi, the Festival of Colors.

March 2018, New Delhi (CNN): It’s the bold image of India most often seen in ad campaigns, films and music videos.

But what is Holi and why do Indians celebrate it?

Hindu devotees play with color during Holi celebrations at the Banke Bihari temple on March 27, 2013 in Vrindavan, India.

The beginning of Spring

Holi is a Hindu festival that marks the start of Spring.

Celebrated across India, it’s an ancient festival with the first mentions of it dating all the way back to a 4th century poem.

It was even described in detail in a 7th century Sanskrit play called “Ratnavali,” written by the Indian emperor Harsha.

“Witness the beauty of the great cupid festival which excites curiosity as the townsfolk are dancing at the touch of brownish water thrown … Everything is colored yellowish red and rendered dusty by the heaps of scented powder blown all over,” wrote Harsh.

How it looks today

Bharat Darshan – The Celebration of Holi, the Festival of Colors on Full Moon Day of the Last Month, Phalgun of the Hindu Lunar Calendar.

Although a Hindu festival, Holi is celebrated by Indians across the country and is a great equalizer.

Children can douse elders with water, women splash men with color and the rules of caste and creed are briefly forgotten with everyone taking part.

The evenings are spent visiting friends and family.

A national holiday, it takes place on the last full moon day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month, which is usually March.

This year’s national holiday falls on Friday, March 18.

The festival takes place a day earlier in the eastern states of West Bengal and Odisha. In some parts of northern Uttar Pradesh state, the festivities take place over a week.

An Indian artist dressed as Hindu god Lord Shiva takes part in a procession ahead of the Holi festival in Amritsar on February 26, 2018.

Mythological roots

The roots of the festival lie in the Hindu legend of Holika, a female demon, and the sister of the demon, King Hiranyakashipu.

Hiranyakashipu believed he was the ruler of the universe and superior to all the gods.

But his son, Prahlad, followed the god Vishnu, the preserver and protector of the universe.

Prahlad’s decision to turn his back on his father left Hiranyakashipu with no choice. He hatched a plot with Holika to kill him.

It was a seemingly foolproof plan; Holika would take Prahlad onto her lap and straight into a bonfire. Holika would survive because she had an enchanted shawl that would protect her from the flames.

But the plan failed. Prahlad was saved by Lord Vishnu and it was Holika who died as she was only immune to fire if she was alone. Soon after, Lord Vishnu in His Narasimha Avatar killed Hiranyakashipu and Prahlad became king.

The moral of the story is that good always triumphs over evil.

The love story behind Holi

In modern day Holi celebrations, Holika’s cremation is often reenacted by lighting bonfires on the night before Holi, known as Holika Dahan.

Some Hindus collect the ashes and smear them on their bodies as an act of purification

Rangwali Holi takes place the next day and is an all-day affair where people throw and smear colored powder on each other.

The tradition of throwing colored powder and water is believed to originate from the mythological love story of Radha and Krishna.

Krishna, the Hindu god depicted with dark blue skin, is believed to have complained to his mother about Radha’s fair complexion.

To ease her son’s sadness, his mother suggests to change Radha’s skin color by smearing her with paint. It’s believed that this is where the custom of smearing loved ones with color during Holi came from.

Whole Connection – Earthly Existence and the Cosmic Connection

The Spiritual Connection between Man, Earth and Sun

Bharat Darshan – The Celebration of Lord Surya’s Birth Anniversary.

Excerpt: The Spiritual Connection between Man, Earth and Sun: Sun, Photosynthesis, and Respiration demonstrate the nature of spiritual interactions between Earthly domain and the extraterrestrial or Supernatural domain. I will describe as to how Sanskrit word “PRANA” describes mechanism for transmission of Knowledge from Supernatural or Heavenly Realm to Natural or Earthly Realm transcending barrier between the two realms.

Sun, Lord Surya Narayana describes our earthly existence and the Cosmic Connection that causes, protects, sustains, and preserves our human existence.

Ratha Saptami or Magha Saptami, is a Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Surya, the Sun God. It is celebrated on the seventh day of the Shukla Paksha in the Magha month, which usually falls in January or February. It is known as the day of Surya Jayanti. The word ‘Ratha’ is used to refer to a chariot that is drawn by seven horses. ‘Saptami’ is used to refer to the seventh day. According to tradition, Sun God Surya start his journey towards the northern hemisphere on a ratha or chariot. This festival is also a time to celebrate the life of Lord Surya.

Ratha Saptami 2025 will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 04.

Earthly Existence and the Cosmic Connection

Earthly Existence and the Cosmic Connection. SUN GOD, LORD SURYANARAYANA, LORD OF SKY AND WATER, SAVITA – THE COSMIC FATHER

WATER FOR LIFE

Water is vital to life, participating in virtually every process that occurs in all living creatures. All living things consist mostly of water, for example, the human body is about two-thirds water. The contents of a living cell known as cytoplasm by its composition is about 70 to 90 percent water. The versatility of water as a universal solvent is essential to living organisms. Earthly life depends upon aqueous solutions that are used for carrying out biological processes such as circulation, and digestion.
Water is the most common substance on Earth covering more than 70 percent of the planet’s surface. About 97 percent of the Earth’s water is in the oceans, 2 percent is permanently frozen as polar ice caps, and glaciers, and most of the reminder about 1 percent consists of groundwater or surface streams, rivers, and lakes. The abundant sea water being too salty is of no direct use to the terrestrial forms of life. For earthly existence, the vast majority of plants, animals, and human beings depend upon water that reaches the ground as precipitation from the sky.

THE WATER CYCLE OR HYDROLOGIC CYCLE

Earthly Existence and the Cosmic Connection: The Water Cycle or Hydrologic Cycle demonstrates the Connection between Earthly Existence and Cosmic Power.

The Greek philosopher of nature, Anaxagoras (500 – 428 BC) who lived in Athens, provided the earliest description of the hydrologic cycle, stating that the Sun lifts water from the sea into the atmosphere, from which it falls as rain. The Roman architect and engineer Marcus Vitruvius (1 st century BC) described that the groundwater is derived from rain and snow by infiltration of the soil.

The hydrologic cycle is the process by which water circulates continuously between the atmosphere and the surface of the Earth, falling as precipitation, evaporating or transpiring from vegetation back into the atmosphere, or collecting as surface runoff via streams and rivers and flowing to the sea, there to evaporate again into the atmospheric portion of the cycle. It involves the continuous circulation of water in the Earth-Atmosphere system. The most important processes involved in the water cycle are evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and runoff as streams and rivers. Evaporation involves the transfer of water in the liquid state from the surface of the Earth to the gaseous or vapor state in the atmosphere. The main factors affecting evaporation are solar radiation (the source of heat/temperature), humidity, and wind speed. The radiant energy from the Sun also melts the snow and ice to perpetuate the surface runoff that we recognize as streams and rivers.

THE SUN GOD, LORD SURYANARAYANA, VYOMANATHA (LORD OF SKY AND WATER), SAVITA – THE COSMIC FATHER

All living entities upon Earth are energy dependent and they thrive by drawing the material energy from nature. Sun is the cosmic source of energy for earthly life. Apart from energy, the Sun is the source of freshwater for all terrestrial life. Sun’s role in the hydrologic cycle could be compared to the role heart plays in the human circulatory system. Human heart is considered to be a vital organ as it works like a mechanical pump to circulate purified blood which sustains all the essential functions of the entire body. Just like the human heart, the Sun provides the energy, which very much like a mechanical pump, lifts water from the oceans into the atmosphere and during this process of evaporation the salt water is transformed into purified fresh water. This water vapor is the most important component of Earth’s atmosphere and it provides the opportunity for our earthly existence. Being the source of energy, and of fresh water, it is appropriate to describe the Sun as the Cosmic Father. His heat may put us to trouble, arouse our sense of thirst, but His rains quench our thirst. Indian Cultural traditions recognize Sun as SAVITA which means Cosmic Father and He is often described as the provider of great rains, and as a friend of waters that flow across the land surface. Earthly existence is simply impossible without this harmonious relationship between the Cosmic Sun and earthly living creatures.

A HYMN TO THE SUN GOD

In the epic poem of RAMAYANA, sage AGASTYA taught LORD RAMA the hymns to worship the Sun God who is also known as ADITYA, RAVI, DIVAKAR, PRABHAKAR, MITRA,BHASKARA and other names. The hymns are known as ‘ADITYA HRUDAYAM’. The Sun illuminates the external world, and the same illumination could also dispel the darkness, the ignorance from our hearts, the inner world.

He is the Lord of the sky and water. He dispels darkness and ignorance. He had obtained the essence of Vedic Scriptures (Rig, Yajur, and Saama) and hence is the Master of Knowledge. He is the provider of great rains, and He is the friend of waters that flow across the land. He quickly traverses the celestial plane and we see Him moving over the Vindhya mountains.

EARTHLY EXISTENCE AND THE COSMIC CONNECTION.

The Science of Spiritual Optics

The Spiritual Connection between Man, Earth and Sun: What is Matter? and What is Spirit? The Laws of Conservation are applicable to both the living, and the non-living matter. Hence, it can be stated that “Life can neither be created nor destroyed.”

THE SCIENCE OF OPTICS-SPIRITUAL LIGHT-SPIRITUAL OPTICS-GOD IS LIGHT:

WHOLE DUDE - WHOLE OPTICS: SPIRITUALISM INVOLVES A SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF LIGHT OR OPTICS. GOD IS LIGHT, LIGHT IS LIFE, AND COLOR IS THE EVIDENCE FOR THE USE OF IMAGINATION TO FORMULATE SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIPS.
The Material Basis of Spirituality Science. SPIRITUAL LIGHT AND SPIRITUAL OPTICS INVOLVES A SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF LIGHT OR OPTICS. GOD IS LIGHT OR GOD CREATED LIGHT, LIGHT IS ENERGY, LIGHT IS ENERGY OF LIFE, AND COLOR IS THE EVIDENCE FOR THE USE OF IMAGINATION TO FORMULATE SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ENERGY DEPENDENT LIFE AND ENERGY PROVIDING SUPREME BEING.

Optics is the scientific study of Light and the study of Light should be concerned with the genesis, nature, properties of Light and its purpose and role in the establishment of life and interactions among living things. Light is the sign of divine operation in the world of chaos and darkness. Light brings order to the world. Without a source of light, a primary source of external energy, life would be impossible on planet Earth. Further, it can be stated that light is essential for life for the synchronization of life’s living functions, and to generate the experience of peace, harmony, and tranquility in the living condition, or state. Thus light is associated with the experience called happiness.

WHOLE DUDE - WHOLE COLORS: The most important function of Light is not that of providing visual sensation. Light performs several non optical functions. Plants do not have the ability to see Light. But, plants have the ability to use light energy to perform biochemical reactions such as Photosynthesis which is a creative mechanism to trap light energy as chemical energy that living things can further use to perform a variety of their living functions.
The Material Basis of Spirituality Science. Spiritual Optics: The most important function of light is not that of providing visual sensation. Light performs several non optical functions. Plants do not have the ability to see Light. But, plants have the ability to use light energy to perform biochemical reactions such as Photosynthesis which is a creative mechanism to trap light energy and convert it into chemical energy that living things can further use to perform a variety of their living functions. Hence light is Divine Providence to transform nonliving matter into Living Organisms which can be identified by their color, and appearance.
Whole Dude - Whole Colors: The green pigment called Chlorophyll is the only substance in nature able to trap and store the energy of Sunlight. The light absorbed by Chlorophyll molecules is mainly in the red and blue-violet parts of the visible spectrum; the green portion is not absorbed but reflected, and thus Chlorophyll appears Green. The function of Light and Color is that of Creation of Life.

SPIRITUAL LIGHT – SPIRITUAL OPTICS:

SPIRITUAL LIGHT – SPIRITUAL OPTICS: This Vedic Hymn called Gayatri Maha Mantra describes the Spiritual Nature of Light and Spiritual Optics involves the illumination of human mind with true or real Knowledge.

Light is the source of Life. The establishment of light on planet Earth is a creative process that uses light energy to recreate the spectral colors in the lives of individual organisms. The Biological Coloration is the most compelling evidence of the fact of creation. Animals, and plants do not have the ability to generate colors by simply depending upon spontaneous, random, and unguided mutations. Biological Coloration requires complex synchronization of morphological appearance, biotic interactions and behavior of living organisms that share a given environment. Light is the primary source of external energy to support the existence of all living things. The principles of Physical Optics, Geometrical Optics, Physiological Optics have to operate in conjunction with Spiritual Optics to generate the experience of peace, harmony, and tranquility that is fundamental to existence. Life is a manifestation of order to replace disorder, or confusion that could be caused if light does not provide the stimulus called illumination that drives away darkness. It is no surprise to note that the major Biological Rhythm is called the Diurnal, or Day, or Solar Rhythm.

Earthly Existence is synchronized by the creation of Day and Night

Earthly Existence is Synchronized by the Creation of Day and Night. The Vitruvian Man c.1492. The painting by Leonardo da Vinci displays the spirit of scientific inquiry. The term Self-Realization describes complete fulfillment or full development of the Self and Man is not complete without full development of God-Connection. God-Realization is not about Faith or Belief in God. It is about understanding the connection between Man, the Energy Consumer, and God, the Energy Controller.

The Biological Clock – Every living system studied behaves as if it contains a highly dependable clock. The specialized properties of this clock suggest that it involves some unique biological mechanism indissociable from life itself.

Earthly Existence is synchronized by the creation of Day and Night: Biological Clock is an internal-timing mechanism to synchronize biological functions.

The Biological Clock is a self-sustained internal timing mechanism that controls cyclic patterns, or rhythms, of a living organism. All organisms have this ability to synchronize their existence to events in both their internal or external environment. Because of this internal timing, certain physiological and behavioural events vary in intensity. Such time-dependent variability is expressed as a rhythm, or oscillation, with a frequency equal to that of the underlying biological clock. Biological clocks time the Solar day, the period of the Earth’s rotation relative to the Sun.

Earthly Existence is Synchronized by the Creation of Day and Night. The Eternal Law of Aging: HUMAN EXISTENCE IS SYNCHRONIZED WITH DAILY CHANGES IN THE EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT IN RESPONSE TO DAYLIGHT OR DARK.

The Biological Rhythm – Biological Rhythms represent the periodic biological fluctuation in an organism that corresponds to and is in response to periodic environmental change. The most important example of such environmental change is that of the cyclical variations in the relative position of the Earth to the Sun and the immediate effect of this variation is that of night alternating with day or the change from darkness to light. Biological Rhythms that occur once a day are called Circadian(Latin circa:”about,” di: “day,”), Solar day, diel, daily, diurnal(day-active), or nycthemeral rhythm. Circadian rhythms are the most pervasive rhythms regulating many events for every day in the lives of most living organisms. Circadian rhythms are synchronized to an external time-giving stimulus. The external stimulus that is important for most living organisms is that of Sun rise and Sun set, the daily light-dark cycle determined by Earth’s rotation.

The Spiritual Connection of Man, Earth and Sun

The Spiritual Connection of Man, Earth, and Sun. What is Creation? What are the Forces operating in Nature that can fully account for variations observed in planetary motions?

The “Magic” or “Maya” in the Indian Sanskrit language accounts for the nature of all existence. In English language there is no equivalent word for the term “Maya.” I use the term “LOVE” as the equivalent of “Maya” for both the terms can be interpreted as Fundamental Force described in Physics.

Love or Maya when interpreted as Fundamental Force can account for the nature of connection between Man, Earth, and Sun. I use the term Spiritual to describe the nature of connection, relationship, partnership, association, the coming together, the joining, or the yoking of two or more distinct entities to perform guided, goal-oriented, sequential, purposeful actions to support the existence of life on planet Earth.

The Spiritual Connection of Man, Earth and Sun: THE PROCESS OR MECHANISM CALLED CELLULAR RESPIRATION IS NOT LEARNED OR ACQUIRED EXPERIENCE. NO SPIRITUAL TEACHER, NO SPIRITUAL MASTER, AND NO SPIRITUAL GUIDE CAN IMPLANT THIS KNOWLEDGE IN MAN.

The fundamental living function performed by all the trillions of independent, individual cells of the human body is described as Cellular Respiration. This function involves the use of Oxygen molecules to create new molecules of energy using the Carbon molecules synthesized by plants performing the Photochemical Reaction called Photosynthesis.

The Spiritual Connection of Man, Earth, and Sun: Cellular respiration is a set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.

Sun, Photosynthesis, and Respiration demonstrate the nature of spiritual interactions between Earthly domain and the extraterrestrial or Supernatural domain.

The Spiritual Connection between Man, Earth and Sun: HOW DO PLANTS KNOW WHAT THEY KNOW? PLANTS KNOW ABOUT LIGHT, THE LENGTH OF DAY, AND THE DURATION OF DARKNESS CALLED NIGHT. THERE IS NO “INTELLECT” INVOLVED IN THIS PROCESS OF KNOWING. THE ABILITY OF KNOWING LIGHT OR PHOTORECEPTION IS EXPLAINED BY PHOTOCHEMISTRY.

The Man has the cognitive ability called ‘Vision’ which is the second most important Photochemical Reaction performed by living entities. The Man living on the surface of Earth, the natural world has the cognitive ability to directly visualize the Sun moving across the Sky. However, the Man cannot transcend the barrier between the Natural Domain of Earth and the Supernatural Domain of Sun. Man dwells in ‘Natural’ or Terrestrial Realm recognizing Sun’s apparent journey across Sky which belongs to ‘Supernatural’ Realm. The separation and distinction between Natural and Supernatural Realm is important to understand the nature of man’s conditioned existence as a terrestrial organism.

Man, the Physical, Mortal Being has Subjective, and Objective experience of his ephemeral existence in real world for that existence is made possible by a Principle that is ‘always present’, and ‘ever-existing’. Sanskrit language coined the term ‘ASMI’ to describe this Principle of Unity or “Eikyata.” Further, Sanskrit language coined the term “PRANA” to describe ‘Vital Force’ that operates man’s physical existence in real world. ‘Prana’ describes the underlying mechanism that establishes origin of ‘Vital Force’, the basis of man-God Connection. For all living functions involve knowing a range of information, processing information, interpreting information, and using information in a selective manner, ‘Vital Force’, the animating or vital Principle found in all living things involves mechanisms to acquire Knowledge and transmit Knowledge, or supporting Cognitive abilities which perform functions of knowing often called intelligence used in performing intelligent actions as opposed to transitive actions, or mechanical functions performed by inanimate matter as per Laws of Physics and Chemistry.

Veda = Knowledge – “Prana” – Mechanism for transmission of Knowledge:

The Spiritual Connection between Man, Earth and Sun: Knowledge is transmitted as Prana, the outpourings or Breath of the Supreme Being.

The word ‘Veda’ refers to Knowledge which means the fact, the state, or condition of knowing a range of information. As mentioned before, human body performs thousands of functions which involve use of knowledge or processing information. However, human body makes no use of any known human language. In Science, they use the term ‘communication’ to describe the act of transmitting, giving or exchanging of information. Science of transmitting information between living cells and within cells (between intracellular organelle, subunits like nucleus and ribosomes) involves study of chemical molecules which function as signals or chemical messengers. Most modern cancer research involves investigating signalling pathways used by cells to communicate information for purposes such as to begin cell division or to stop cell division.

Sanskrit words very often describe an underlying mechanism while the word stands for an action performed in external world. In this context, I will describe as to how Sanskrit word “PRANA” describes mechanism for transmission of Knowledge from Supernatural or Heavenly Realm to Natural or Earthly Realm transcending barrier between the two realms.

To make it brief, I ask you to read about Photochemistry which is the study of chemical processes that are exclusively brought about by interaction of light with matter. Photoreception is any of the biological responses of organisms to stimulation by light. Photochemical reactions play a vital role in biological systems. Two important photobiological processes are 1. Vision, and 2. Photosynthesis. In plants the primary photoreceptive response is photosynthesis which involves using energy of the Sun to convert Carbon dioxide and Water to essential nutritive elements of all life. One important outcome of the photosynthetic chemical reactions is, light energy splits the Water molecule so that one of its component atoms, Oxygen is released as molecular Oxygen which serves to replenish the atmospheric Oxygen supply which would be depleted by respiration processes of most other living organisms. Life on planet Earth is made possible by Sun’s energy that splits water molecules to provide Oxygen, component of air that acts as vital force to sustain Life.

The Spiritual Connection between Man, Earth and Sun: PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND RESPIRATION SEEN AS EVIDENCE OF MAN-GOD CONNECTION.

Sanskrit created the term ‘PRANA’ to describe this Vital Force that operates most living functions called Oxidation-Reduction Chemical Reactions. Prana describes the physical act of breathing or respiration. Prana specifically refers to air in human heart. Indian tradition describes ‘Pancha Prana’ as 1. Vyaana (air spread in the entire extent of human body), 2. Samaana (air swallowed during eating and drinking), 3. Apaana (air expelled from body), 4. Udaana (air in neck or throat), and 5. Prana (air that is in the heart).

The Spiritual Connection between Man, Earth and Sun: OXIDATION-REDUCTION CHEMICAL REACTIONS SUPPORT ALL LIVING FUNCTIONS, FORM THE BASIS FOR INTELLIGENCE AND INTELLIGENT ACTIONS PERFORMED BY LIVING ORGANISMS.

‘Prana’ as a sign of life refers to air in the heart. The right chambers of heart deal with deoxygenated air, and left chambers with oxygenated air. Heart works as a mechanical pump circulating flow of air in the entire human body. If this activity of heart that involves air is improper or missing, life becomes difficult, and its most important consequence is that of immediate brain injury, brain damage, and brain death. Brain’s ability to process information or to provide Knowledge is dependent upon ‘Prana’, the air in human heart. The origin, or the source of this ‘Prana’ is Sun’s light energy. Sun rays are source of intellect for Sun is the Original Cause of ‘Prana’.

Whole Connection – Whole Optics:

Whole Connection – The name Anna+Purna represents the substance called Whole Foods that formulates the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet

Yes Indeed, Life is Complicated. The complexity of Life involves the complexity of Color and Coloration that shapes the World of Colors in which the man exists. I coined the phrase Whole Optics to make the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet.

SPIRITUALISM-THE SCIENCE OF OPTICS-SPIRITUAL LIGHT-SPIRITUAL OPTICS-GOD IS LIGHT:

WHOLE DUDE - WHOLE OPTICS: SPIRITUALISM INVOLVES A SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF LIGHT OR OPTICS. GOD IS LIGHT, LIGHT IS LIFE, AND COLOR IS THE EVIDENCE FOR THE USE OF IMAGINATION TO FORMULATE SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIPS.
Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics makes the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet: SPIRITUALISM, SPIRITUAL LIGHT AND SPIRITUAL OPTICS INVOLVES A SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF LIGHT OR OPTICS.

Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics makes the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet

The first recorded utterance of God in the Bible is, “LET THERE BE LIGHT.” (The Old Testament, The First Book of Moses, The Book of Genesis, Chapter 1, verse 3.) Light is the sign of divine operation in the world of chaos and darkness. Light brings order to the world. Without a source of Light, a primary source of external energy, Life is impossible on planet Earth. Further, it can be stated that Light is essential for Life; for the synchronization of life’s living functions, and to generate the experience of peace, harmony, and tranquility in the living condition, or state. Thus Light is associated with the experience called happiness.

Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics makes the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” (The New Testament Book James, 1: 17)

Whole Connection: The phrase Whole Optics makes the Connection between Food, People, and the Planet: The most important function of Light is not that of providing visual sensation. Hence Light is Divine Providence to transform non living matter into Living Organisms which can be identified by their color, and appearance.

WHAT IS COLOR AND WHAT IS COLORATION?

The term ‘color’ refers to the spectral qualities of emitted or reflected light. The term ‘coloration’ is a dynamic and complex characteristic that has captured human interest and attention for a long time. Human interest to coloration ranges from purely aesthetic to the rigidly pragmatic. Human interest in coloration led to biological studies by the Moravian abbot Gregor Johann Mendel (1822-1884), the botanist who studied inherited characteristics that established the science of Genetics, using visual clues from the coloration of plant flowers.

WHOLE DUDE - WHOLE COLORS: Human interest in Coloration lead Gregor Mendel to conduct his famous studies that established the science called Genetics. He conducted experiments studying the white or pinkish flowers of Pea(Pisum sativum) plants.

BIOLOGICAL COLORATION:

Biological Coloration refers to the general appearance of an organism as determined by the quality and quantity of light that is reflected or emitted from its surface. This Coloration depends upon several factors:

1. The integrity and deployment of the structural units and features involved in the generation of color,

2. The color and distribution of the organism’s pigments, and the relative location of differently colored areas,

3. The shape, posture, position, and movement of the organism,

4. The quality and quantity of light striking the organism, including the seasonal light and temperature variations,

5. The psychological, behavioral, hormonal, and other physiological conditions associated with the use of color,

6. The visual capacity of the viewer.

THE OPTICAL AND NON OPTICAL FUNCTIONS OF COLORATION:

In plants and animals, coloration serves the function of communication. Plants do not have the ability called visual perception and yet they can transmit optical signals to attract the attention of pollinators to achieve reproductive success. Coloration such as ‘advertising coloration’ may emphasize optical signals and thereby enhance communication. Organisms use such communication to modify biotic interactions with other members of their biological community. The coloration may repel, or attract another organism. However, coloration could also be used to suppress optical signals or to specifically create incorrect signals and thereby reduce communication. Thus coloration contributes to adaptive interactions; and the deceptive coloration serves to lessen detrimental or maladaptive interaction with other organisms.

The light absorbed by Chlorophyll molecules is mainly in the red and blue-violet parts of the visible spectrum; the green portion is not absorbed but reflected, and thus Chlorophyll appears Green. The function of Light and Color is that of Creation of Life.

Coloration may affect an organism in ways other than its interaction with other organisms. Such non optical functions of coloration include physiological roles that depend on the molecular properties(e.g., strength and type of chemical bonds) of the chemicals that create color. Chlorophyll is a green pigment which has the exclusive ability of trapping solar energy. Other examples include, dark hair is mechanically stronger than light hair, and dark feathers resist abrasion better than light feathers. Coloration may play a role in organism’s energy budget because biochromes create color by the differential reflection and absorption of solar energy and can contribute to maintain thermal equilibrium. Color pigments like melanin work as a barrier against the harmful effects of the ultraviolet rays of Sunlight. It is the mechanism for the absorption of heat in cold environments by small cold-blooded animals. Pigments found in the eye limit the incidence of beams of light entering the eye by absorbing scattered light within the eyeball that allows greater visual acuity. Coloration or its pattern affects an animal’s own vision. Surfaces near the  eye may be darkly colored to reduce reflectance that interferes with vision. Emitted light or Bioluminescence forms a portion of the coloration of some organisms. It serves as a light source in nocturnal species or in deep water marine animals such as Pinecones Fishes which have bright photophores or bioluminescent organs.

Coloration can result from accumulation of by-products of metabolic processes. The abnormal coloration called ‘jaundice’ or ‘icterus’ describes the greenish-yellow condition of the skin, urine, and eyeballs from increased amounts of bile pigments in the blood and it often indicates a diseased condition like hepatitis, a liver disorder. Similarly, Cyanosis describes a bluish or purple coloration of skin, lips, fingers, eyes, and other mucous membranes caused by lack of oxygen, the presence of desaturated hemoglobin, or abnormal hemoglobin in the blood.

Whole Review – The philosophy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

Whole Review: The philosophy of the Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. What is Spirit?

Yes Indeed, Life is Complicated. The complexity of Life involves the fundamental nature of existence. Philosophers and Theologians have for a very long time are using terms such as Soul and Spirit without bothering to clarify the distinction between the Living and the Nonliving Matter and further, they leave things to the readers’ imagination without specifying the substance that constitutes the Spirit or Soul.

September 05, President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in India. On Monday, September 05, 2022, I want to share my reflections on the philosophy of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and the history of Special Frontier Force, Establishment No. 22, Vikas Regiment: In India, school children celebrate Dr. Radhakrishnan’s birthday (05 September) as Teachers’ Day and every year that I spent as a student, I had a special reason to remember my family connection with his daughter.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888—1975)

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888 -1975). I met this President during his retired life at his residence in Mylapore,Madras (Chennai). I am related to this President on my maternal side. His daughter married my maternal grandfather’s (Dr. Kasturi. Narayana Murty, M.D. Professor of Medicine Madras Medical College, Madras) younger brother Kasturi. Seshagiri Rao who practiced Law. Mylapore is my birthplace and I grew up there. The reasons for strengthening these connections are as follows: 1. Dr. Sarvepalli studied in Madras Christian College and worked in Presidency College, Madras. My father also studied and worked in Presidency College. I am related and worked with people who studied in Madras Christian College. 2. My father taught Indian History and Radhakrishnan’sresidenceinMylapore son, Sarvepalli Gopal also taught Indian History. 3. Apart from my father, several of my relatives belong to Teaching Profession. 4. As a child, I was aware of Vice President and later President of India in the context of India’s Diplomacy during Cold War Era. 5. The 1962 War happened during his Presidency and Special Frontier Force was formulated during his Presidency. These events shaped my choice to serve in the Indian Army. I was granted Direct Permanent Regular Commission in Army Medical Corps in March 1973 while I served as Medical Officer at Doom Dooma, Assam with Special Frontier Force. Posted by Dr. Rudra Narasimham, Rebbapragada, B.Sc., M.B.B.S.

As an academic, philosopher, and statesman, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888-1975) was one of the most recognized and influential Indian thinkers in academic circles in the 20th century. Throughout his life and extensive writing career, Radhakrishnan sought to define, defend, and promulgate his religion, a religion he variously identified as Hinduism, Vedanta, and the Religion of the Spirit. He sought to demonstrate that his Hinduism was both philosophically coherent and ethically viable. Radhakrishnan’s concern for experience and his extensive knowledge of the Western philosophical and literary traditions has earned him the reputation of being a bridge-builder between India and the West. He often appears to feel at home in the Indian as well as the Western philosophical contexts, and draws from both Western and Indian sources throughout his writing. Because of this, Radhakrishnan has been held up in academic circles as a representative of Hinduism to the West. His lengthy writing career and his many published works have been influential in shaping the West’s understanding of Hinduism, India, and the East. In my analysis, his philosophical thought did not embrace the progress made by Science in the understanding of life and matter.

Whole Review: The philosophy of the Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. What is Spirit? This photo image shows Vice President Radhakrishnan at his New Delhi residence during 1960. I met President Radhakrishnan at his Mylapore, Madras (Chennai) residence after completion of his term of presidency in 1967. He prefers to read while relaxing in his bed. This is the image, I still carry in my memory.

Radhakrishnan located his metaphysics within the Advaita (non-dual) Vedanta tradition (sampradaya). And like other Vedantins before him, Radhakrishnan wrote commentaries on the Prasthanatraya (that is, main primary texts of Vedanta ): the Upanishads (1953),Brahma Sutra (1959), and the Bhagavadgita (1948).

As an Advaitin, Radhakrishnan embraced a metaphysical idealism. But Radhakrishnan’s idealism was such that it recognized the reality and diversity of the world of experience (Prakrit) while at the same time preserving the notion of a wholly transcendent Absolute (Brahman), an Absolute that is identical to the self (Atman). While the world of experience and of everyday things is certainly not ultimate reality as it is subject to change and is characterized by finitude and multiplicity, it nonetheless has its origin and support in the Absolute (Brahman) which is free from all limits, diversity, and distinctions (Nirguṇa). Brahman is the source of the world and its manifestations, but these modes do not affect the integrity of Brahman.

In this vein, Radhakrishnan did not merely reiterate the metaphysics of Shankara (8th century C.E.), arguably Advaita Vedanta’s most prominent and enduring figure, but sought to reinterpret Advaita for present needs. In particular, Radhakrishnan reinterpreted what he saw as Shankara’s understanding of Maya strictly as illusion. For Radhakrishnan, Maya ought not to be understood to imply a strict objective idealism, one in which the world is taken to be inherently disconnected from Brahman, but rather Maya indicates, among other things, a subjective misconception of the world as ultimately real. [See Donald Bauer, Maya in Radhakrishnan’s Thought: Six Meanings Other Than Illusion (1985) for a full treatment of this issue.]

The Material Basis of Spirituality Science. The Truth about Soul or Spirit. Adi Shankara (c. 788 A.D. – c. 820 A.D.), the founder of the Non-Dualist or ADVAITA School of Indian Philosophy has shared his ideas about human soul or spirit which is called ATMA or ATMAN in the Indian Sanskrit language. What is the Truth about Soul or Spirit?

We need a methodology to study philosophy and to understand philosophical statements. Logical Positivism, also known as Scientific Empiricism aims to clarify concepts in both everyday and scientific language. It describes analysis of language as the function of philosophy. This analysis of language and of concepts is important to understand questions of belief and ideology which affect what we think we ought to do individually and socially. I would use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the philosophical doctrine of ‘Advaita’ and to study the views and philosophy of Adi Shankara and his efforts to interpret the true or real identity.

In the study of a man, the know-er and the known are one. The man is the observer and the observed fact is that of the man’s nature. If a man has to know the truth about his true or real self, the man has to understand the truth and reliability of his own cognitive powers. If the Subject called man is identified as an Object called Soul, or Spirit, the Truth or Reality of Soul, or Spirit involves a structural/functional relationship between the Subject and its Object.

September 05. My Musings on the Philosophy of President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. MAN’S EXISTENCE IS SHAPED BY FLAT EARTH WITH ARCHED DOME EXPERIENCE.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s metaphysics fails to account for the existence of the Spirit in the physical, material, terrestrial, or immanent realm called Earth. Just like Shankara, Radhakrishnan claims that the Absolute (Brahman) is identical to the true or real Self (Atman) without clarifying the structural and the functional relationship between the human body and its indwelling Soul, Spirit, or Atman.

Whole Review: The philosophy of the Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. What is Spirit? The Discovery of India – The Indian Traditional Greeting known as ‘NAMASKAR’ represents the essence of Indian Culture.

In any case, Hinduism cannot be defined as the Religion of the Spirit. In my experience, most Hindus worship Mother Earth as the physical manifestation of the Absolute (Brahman). In my analysis, the Spirituality of the Hindu experience always includes a Material Basis to account for the relationship between the man, the Earth, and God.

What is Matter? and What is Spirit? If materialism is about the influence of material wealth, I would like to use the Power/Force/Energy called Money to talk about Life and Death. The Laws of Conservation are applicable to both the living, and the non-living matter. Hence, it can be stated that “Life can neither be created nor destroyed.” If any person can refute my claim using valid, scientific information, I would give the person a US $1,000 bill as a reward

Rudolf is reborn as Rudi to describe the spiritual connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider

Rudi acknowledges his German heritage when he discovered the spiritual connection between man, food, and Providence.

Whole Foods, Whole People, and Whole Planet are connected by a material substance called Protoplasm or Cytoplasm, a divine plan to provide nourishment to Life.

The Rudolf and Rudi Connection can be best described as the concept of Whole Spirituality, the three dimensional spiritual relationship between the multicellular human organism, food, and the Divine Providence.

Spiritualism – The Cell Theory of Spirituality:

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The Discovery of Whole Spirituality.

In Biology, cell is the basic or fundamental unit of structure, function, and organization in all living things or it is the building block of life. Let me begin with my respectful tribute to some of the people who contributed to ‘The Cell Theory’, one of the foundations of Biological Sciences. Cells were first observed in the 17th century shortly after the discovery of the microscope. Robert Hooke, british curator of instruments at The Royal Society of London, during 1665 coined the word cell. Dutch microscopist Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723) made over 247 microscopes and examined microorganisms and tissue samples. He gave the first complete descriptions of bacteria, protozoa (which he called animalcules), spermatozoa, and striped muscle. He also studied capillary circulation and observed Red Blood Cells.

Improvements in microscopy during early 19th century permitted closer observation and the significance of cells had received better understanding. Matthias Jakob Schleiden (1838), German botanist, Theodor Schwann (1839), German physiologist, and Rudolf Virchow (1855), German pathologist, and others made important contributions to the Cell Theory that describes cell as the building block of all Life.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Schleiden, Professor of Botany, The University of Jena studied plant structure under the microscope, published “Contibutions to Phytogenesis” (1838). He had also published the two-volume text of ‘Principles of Scientific Botany’.
Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Schwann founder of modern Histology extended the Cell Theory of Plants to animals in his ‘Microscopic Researches into Accordance in the Structure and Growth of Animals and Plants (1839).
Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Schwann discovered Myelin Sheath covering peripheral axons, now termed Schwann Cells. He coined the term ‘Metabolism’ for the chemical changes that take place in living tissues.
Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Rudolf Virchow, German pathologist in 1855 coined the biological dictum “OMNIS CELLULA E CELLULA” – All living cells arise only from pre-existing living cells.

The Cell is the smallest unit in the living organism that is capable of carrying on the essential life processes of sustaining metabolism for producing energy and reproducing. Many simple, small, single-celled organisms like Protozoa perform all life functions. In higher, complex, bigger, multicellular organisms, groups of cells are structurally and functionally differentiated into specialized tissues and organ systems. Thus, the Cell Theory includes the following foundational principles of the Biological Sciences:

1. All living things are made up of cells. Cell is the most elementary or basic unit of Life.

2. Cell is a fundamental unit of structure, function, and organization in all living things including plants and animals.

3. Cells only rise from division of previously existing cells.

4. All cells are similar in composition, form, and function. All cells are basically the same in chemical composition (in spite of variations) in organisms of similar species. For example, all the solid tissues in the human body can be shown to consist largely of similar cells; differing it is true, but that are essentially similar to an Ovum.

5. The cells exhibit functional autonomy. The activity of an organism depends on the total activity of ‘INDEPENDENT’ cells.

6. Energy flow (metabolism and biochemistry) occurs within cells.

7. Cells contain hereditary, biological information (DNA) which is passed from cell to cell during cell division.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider.

The Cell Theory of Spirituality:

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The Discovery of Whole Spirituality at Whole Foods, Ann Arbor.

The basic or fundamental unit of life in the human organism is derived from the fertilized egg cell that eventually develops into a complete organism. The most significant feature of similarity between the cells of the human body is the presence of a soft, gelatinous, semi-fluid, granular material inside the cell. This substance known as Protoplasm or Cytoplasm, or Cytosol is similar to the ground substance found in the Ovum or the Egg Cell.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Human Ovum Structure – The Cell Theory of Spirituality is based upon the Substance, Structure, Form, Organization, Function, Action and Interactions of this Single Fertilized Egg Cell that eventually develops into a complete human organism.

This viscous, translucent, colloidal substance is enclosed in a membrane called Cell Membrane, Plasma Membrane or Biological Membrane. A small spherical body called nucleus is embedded in the Protoplasm of the cell. The three essential features of any living cell in the human body are that of the presence of protoplasm, the nucleus, and the cell membrane.

Protoplasm – The Ground Substance of Spiritualism and Spirituality:

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to Describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider.

I seek the existence of Soul or Spirit in a substance that is basic to life activities, and in a material that is responsible for all living processes. I, therefore, propose that the understanding of the true or real nature of this ground substance of all living matter will help man to discover peace, harmony, and tranquility in all of his internal and external relationships while man exists in a physical environment as a member of a social group, social community, and Society. In this blog post, I would like to pay my respectful tribute to Jan Evangelista Purkinje and Hugo Von Mohl for their great contribution to the scientific understanding of the living substance, living material, and living matter.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Jan Evangelista Purkyne (Czech name), Jan Evangelista Purkinje (German name)also known as Johannes Evangelist Purkinje, b. December 17, 1787, d. July 28, 1869. The pioneer Czech experimental Physiologist whose investigations in the fields of Histology, Embryology, and Pharmacology helped create a modern understanding of the eye and vision, brain and heart function, mammalian reproduction, and the composition of cells.

Purkinje conducted his research on human vision at the University of Prague and later on, he served there as a Professor of Physiology (1850-69). He went to Germany and was appointed the Chair of Physiology and Pathology (1823-50) at the University of Breslau, Prussia. There Purkinje created the world’s first independent Department of Physiology (1839) and the first Physiological Laboratory (Physiological Institute, 1842). He is best known for his discovery of large nerve cells with many branching extensions found in the cortex of Cerebellum of the brain (Purkinje Cells, 1837). He discovered the fibrous tissue that conducts electrical impulses from the ‘pacemaker’ called Atrioventricular node or A-V node along the inside walls of the ventricles to all parts of the heart to help in Cardiac contractile function (Purkinje Fibers, 1839). In 1835, he invented and introduced the scientific term ‘Protoplasm’ to describe the ground substance found inside young animal embryo cells. He discovered the sweat glands of the skin (1833); he discovered the nine configuration groups of Fingerprints used in biometric identification of man (1823); he described the germinal vesicle or nucleus of the unripe ovum that now bears his name (1825), and he noted the protein digesting power of pancreatic extracts (1836).

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. Hugo Von Mohl, b. April 08, 1805, d. April 01, 1872, German Botanist noted for his research on the anatomy and physiology of plant cells.

Hugo Von Mohl named the granular, colloidal material that made up the main substance of the plant cell as “Protoplasm” in 1846. Purkinje invented the word, but Hugo gave more clarity, understanding, and knowing the nature of this ground substance. He viewed cell as an “elementary organ” and in Physiology he explained Protoplasm as an organ of Motion or Movement, Nutrition, and Reproduction. It is the preliminary material in cellular generation. He was the first to propose that new cells are formed by division of preexisting cells and he had observed this process of Cell Division in the algal cells of Conferva glomerata. His observations are very important to understand the Cell Theory that explains cells as the basic building blocks of Life. He was the first to investigate the phenomenon of the stomatal openings in leaves.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The Ground Substance of Spiritualism and Spirituality. The vital characteristics, the animating principles of Protoplasm could be known by observing Amoeba proteus. The Living Substance works as an organ of Motion or Movement, as an organ of Nutrition, and as an organ of Reproduction to generate new cells which have a life span of their own. In these physiological functions, I describe the characteristics such as Cognition, Consciousness, Memory, and Intelligence which have a Spiritual role as they bring functional unity and harmony in the interactions between different parts of the same individual organism while it exists in an environment as a member of a biological community.

Protoplasm is a complex, viscous, translucent solution of such materials as salts and simple sugars with other molecules, mostly proteins and fats, in a colloidal state, that is dispersed but not dissolved in one another. Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen constitute more than 90 percent of Protoplasm.

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality.
God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality.

It exhibits properties such as Protoplasmic Streaming or Cytoplasmic Streaming or Motion that is called “Amoeboid Movement.” It has the intrinsic power to change its shape and position.

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The importance of Protoplasmic or Cytoplasmic Streaming is displayed in the transportation of Neuropeptides from the sites of their Synthesis to the sites of their action at the axon terminal of the Nerve Cells.

Protoplasm has the power of Nutrition by which it can attract and obtain the materials necessary for its growth and maintenance from surrounding matter/environment.

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality.

The living functions such as Nutrition, Cellular Respiration, and Reproduction performed by Cytoplasm involve acquiring, processing, retaining, and using information to perform tasks in a sequential manner for a predetermined purpose and hence describe Consciousness, Memory, and Intelligence.

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality. Cellular respiration is a set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.

The terms Soul and Spirit belong to the materialistic realm where the Physical Reality of man’s biological existence is established. I have not yet discovered any good reason to use the terms Soul and Spirit as a metaphysical or transcendental Reality.

The Inheritance of Cytoplasmic Membrane or Cell or Plasma Membrane:

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality. Living cells have a corporeal substance called Protoplasm that has the ability of Spiritual Biotic Interactions. The Biological Membrane or Cell Membrane separates the cell from its environment and other living cells present in the environment. Cells use unique proteins, biological molecules and receptor sites to recognize the other living cells and use chemical signals to facilitate the interactions. Such interactions between living cells have the characteristics of consciousness or awareness.
God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality. Cytoplasmic Membrane or Cell Membrane is an integral feature of Cytoplasm, a limiting membrane devised by Cytoplasm to create boundaries to perform its numerous living functions.

The Functions of Cytoplasmic Membrane or Cell Membrane or Biological Membrane:

1. Protection: It protects the cell from its surroundings or extracellular environment. Plant cell possess wall over the plasma membrane for extra protection and support.

2. Holding cell contents: Plasma membranes hold the semi fluid protoplasmic contents of the cell intact; thus keeping the individuality of the cell.

3. Selective Permeability: Cell membrane allows only selected or specific substances to enter into the cell and are impermeable to others.

  • Gases like O2 and CO2 can diffuse rapidly in solution through membranes.
  • Small compounds like H2O and methane can easily pass through where as sugars, amino acids and charged ions are transported with the help of transport proteins.
  • The size of the molecules which can pass through the plasma membrane is 1-15 A0. This property is responsible for keeping a cell ‘as a cell’, an individual unit.

4. Shape: It maintains form and shape of the cell. It serves as site of anchorage or attachment of the cytoskeleton; thus providing shape to the cell (especially in animal cells without cell wall).

5. Organelles: Cell membrane delimits or covers all sub-cellular structures or organelles like nucleus, mitochondria, plastids, Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum, microbodies etc. thus protecting them form the surroundings and also helps in maintaining a constant internal environment.

6. Compartmentalization: Cell membrane separate the cells from their external environment and cell organelle from cytosol. It help the cells and their organelles to have their own microenvironments, structural and functional individuality.

7. Cell Recognition: With the help of glycolipids and glycoproteins on its surface, cell membranes are able to differentiate similar cells from dissimilar ones, foreign substances and cells own materials. Cell recognition is useful for tissue formation and defence against microbes.

8. Antigens: Cell membranes possess antigens which determine blood grouping, immune response, acceptance or rejection of a transplant (graft rejection by MHC’s on plasma membrane).

9. Microvilli: They are microscopic finger like projections of plasma membrane present on some cells like intestinal epithelial cells, which are involved in a wide variety of functions, including increasing surface area for absorption, secretion, cellular adhesion etc.

10. Sheaths of cilia and flagella: Cilia and flagella are projections from the cell; made up of microtubules which are covered by an extension of the plasma membrane.

11. Cytoplasmic bridges in plasmodesmata and gap junctions: Plasmodesmata in plant cells and gap junctions in animal cells; meant for intercellular transport and communication, form cytoplasmic bridges between adjacent cells through plasma membrane.

12. Endocytosis and Exocytosis: Bulk intake of materials or endocytosis occurs through development of membrane vesicles or invagination and engulfing by plasma membrane.

Exocytosis: It is reverse of endocytosis that provides for releasing waste products and secretory materials ot of the cells with the help of plasma membrane.

13. Impulse transmission in neurons: The transmission of a nerve impulse along a neuron from one end to the other occurs as a result of electrical changes across the plasma membrane of the neuron

14. Cell metabolism: Cell membranes control cell metabolism through selective permeability and retentivity of substances in a cell.

15. Electron transport chain in bacteria: In bacteria; Electron transport chain is located in cell membrane.

16. Osmosis through cell membrane: It is movement of solvent molecules (generally water) from the region of less concentrated solution to the region of high concentrated solution through a semi permeable membrane. Here the semi permeable membrane that helps in osmosis is the cell membrane. Eg: Root cells take up water from the soil by osmosis

17. Carrier proteins for active transport: They occur in the cell membranes and control active transport of substances. Example, GLUT1 is a named carrier protein found in almost all animal cell membranes that transports glucose across the bilayer or plasma membrane.

18. Plasma Membrane enzymes: Many enzymes are present on the plasma membrane with wide variety of catalytic activity. Example: Red blood cell plasma membranes contain a number of enzymes such as ATPases, anion transport protein, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase, protein kinases, adenylate cyclase, acetylcholinesterase.

19. Cell Membrane Receptors: Receptor on the plasma membrane performs signal transduction, converting an extracellular signal into an intra-cellular signal. Membrane possess receptors for hormones, neurotransmitters, antibodies and several other biochemicals.

20. Plasma membrane assisted Cell movements: Undulation and pseudopodia are cell membrane phenomenon involved in cell movement. Amoeba, macrophages and WBCs move with the helps of temporary organelles like pseudopodia. Pseudopods are temporary cytoplasmic projections of the cell membrane in certain unicellular protists such as Amoeba. Some mammalian cells such as fibroblasts can move over a solid surface by wave like undulations of the plasma membrane.

In these physiological functions, I describe the characteristics such as Cognition, Consciousness, Memory, and Intelligence as spiritual attributes of Life as they bring functional unity and harmony in the interactions between different parts of the same individual organism while it exists in an environment as a member of a biological community.

The Spirituality of Substance, Function, Organization, Action, and Interactions:

Rudolf is Reborn as Rudi to describe the Spiritual Connection between the Cell and its Energy Provider. The Discovery of Whole Spirituality at Whole Foods, Ann Arbor.

To establish the biological existence of the human organism, I add the concept of Spiritualism and Spirituality to the Cell Theory.

God created Cytoplasm or Protoplasm as the Ground Substance of Spirituality.

The Single Fertilized Egg Cell has ground substance that is of Spiritual nature and the Spiritualism and Spirituality consists of the following functional, and organizational characteristics:

1. The Cell is Conscious of its own existence and knows its internal condition and knows it external environment.

2. The Cell is intelligent and it has the cognitive abilities like perception and memory to acquire information, to retain information, to recall information, and to use information in the performance of its complex tasks in a sequential manner.

3. The Cell has the ability to show characteristics such as mutual cooperation, mutual tolerance, and display functional subordination and subservience while being independent.

4. The Cell grows, divides, and develops into a complete organism while it acquires substances and energy from an external environment. The power of Protoplasm/Cytoplasm to attract matter found in its external environment is called Nutrition. The Cell continuously transforms matter to build matter of its own kind for its own benefit to sustain its  existence with its own identity and individuality. The Organism represents a social group or a biological community of Cells. The Spiritual nature of Protoplasm/Cytoplasm brings this functional harmony and unity in the Social Group or Biotic Community of Cells by bringing together its Essence and Existence.

5. The Cell Theory is incomplete for it does not describe the conditioned nature of the Cell’s existence. The Cell represents a Living System that is thermodynamically unstable. It requires a constant supply of matter and energy from its external environment to sustain its living functions. The concept of Whole Spirituality formulates the connection between the Cell and its external source of matter and energy.

The Rudolf and Rudi Connection. The Discovery of Whole Spirituality. The Bone Marrow smear from a patient of Leukemia or Blood Cancer helps to illustrate the nature of Biotic Interactions in the Social Group or Biotic Community that represents the singularity called man. The true or real man can only be discovered by the microscopic study of the Cells that constitute the Organism.

The theoretical claims about Spirit and Soul, the religious and philosophical doctrines of Spiritualism and Spirituality must be verified using the Cell Theory that defines the human organism. To describe Soul or Spirit as  nonmaterial or immaterial Self will not help man to know the real or true man.

THE LIVING CELL IS THERMODYNAMICALLY UNSTABLE. TO EXIST, THE LIVING CELL NEEDS CONTINUOUS SUPPLY OF MATTER AND ENERGY FROM ITS EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT. PROTOPLASM OR CYTOPLASM USES THE POWER OF NUTRITION TO ACQUIRE MATTER AND ENERGY FROM ITS EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT AND ENABLES THE LIVING CELL TO PERFORM A VARIETY OF LIVING FUNCTIONS CALLED METABOLISM.

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism

The Doctrine of Whole Creationism Creation is stated as, “The reality called existence is established by the Unchanging Spiritual Nature of Matter in a constantly Changing World.”

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: I ask my readers to investigate the nature of Living Matter found in different Life Forms to explore the Creative Potency of Matter.

I ask my readers to investigate the nature of Living Matter found in different Life Forms to explore the Creative Potency of Matter. In my analysis, the discussion about creation must include the study of creative mechanisms that operate the creative events besides the Natural Laws described by Physics and Chemistry. The creative energy/force/power or potency is very much at work sustaining the creation in the present day world.

I coined the phrase Whole Creator to make a synthesis of the creative events described in the Bible and the Hindu scriptures. The Creator is the Originator, the Sustainer, and eventually the Destroyer of all that He creates.

Spirituality Science – The Doctrine of Creation:

I ask my readers to investigate the nature of Living Matter found in different Life Forms to explore the Creative Potency of Matter. In my analysis, the discussion about creation must include the study of creative mechanisms that operate the creative events besides the Natural Laws described by Physics and Chemistry. The creative energy/force/power or potency is very much at work sustaining the creation in the present day world. Creativity is about putting together the known Chemical Elements of Matter to cause the phenomenon described as Creation.

Creation refers to the beginning of things. The ideas and thoughts about creation serve as a basis for the orientation of man in the world and help to specify man’s place in the physical universe. The Doctrine of Creation is the basis to explain man’s status in nature. The act of creation involves to bring into being a new product and the production of the new thing requires application of imagination and the use of Power/Force/Energy. Creation has two aspects; 1. Freedom of Mind to imagine possibilities. It is associated with a power called ‘Inspiration’ that provides the stimulus to both creative thought and action, and 2. Freedom of Action that converts a mental ‘possibility’ into a physical ‘actuality’. The word ‘creative’ is often used to describe the quality or power of creating as seen in the actions of an author, actor, fashion designer, artist, or musician. A created object tends to be original, unique, distinctive, and exists as one of its own kind of object.

The term creation refers to the beginning of things and it helps man to specify his place in the universe and serves as a basis for the orientation of man in the world. The ideas about creation impact our culture in a very significant manner and shape man’s identity.

Krishna Consciousness – Defining Indian Identity

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: Krishna Consciousness. The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

Krishna is known from the descriptions given in the Indian epic poems of Bhagavata Purana, Mahabharat, and The Bhagavad Gita (The Lord’s Song).
Jayadeva (late 12th century), the author of celebrated Sanskrit poem ‘GITA GOVINDA’ (“Song of Cowherd”), described Lord Krishna’s delightful and enchanting pastimes, His playful activities are popularly known as “Raas Leela.” Jayadeva used the Sanskrit word “Adbhuta” (an amazing feat) to narrate the mystical ability of Krishna to present Himself in several different forms at one and the same time. Jayadeva’s Gita Govinda gives the readers a sense of joy and the devotional service to Lord Krishna gives a chance to experience a sense of sweetness which is called Madhurya in the Sanskrit Language.
Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (16th century) established the sublime doctrine of Krishna: ‘Simultaneously One and Different’. He promoted devotion to Krishna and I claim that ‘Krishna Consciousness’ defines my Indian Identity.

Lord Krishna – The Cause of all Causes (The Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 7, The Yoga of Wisdom, The Knowledge of Absolute, verse 19):
Lord Krishna is the primary cause of all material manifestations. The Sanskrit word ‘Maya’ describes the creative energy or potency of Lord Krishna (Bhagavad Gita 7:25).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

Maya is the governing principle of the material manifestation of the universe and all that it contains. Krishna described Himself as the Supreme Lord, as the governing principle of material manifestation (Bhagavad Gita 7:30).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

The creative energy works on three different levels. 1. Material creation leads to the creation of the total material energy known by the Sanskrit word Maha Tattva. 2. The creative principle enters into all the universes to create diversities in each of them. The fundamental particles that constitute matter have varying characteristics and properties. The individual variations are an attribute of a creative process. 3. The creative force is diffused as the all-pervading Supersoul in all the universes and is known by the Sanskrit word ‘Paramatma’. It is present even in atoms.

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

The material universe is a manifestation of the energy of the Lord. All the activities of the material world are directed by the above mentioned three forms of creative energy. However, a distinction could be made between non-living matter and the living entities. It may be said that the living entities are the manifestation of superior energy as they exist by exploiting the products of the gross and subtle inferior energy that manifests as matter (Bhagavad Gita 7:5).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

Krishna consciousness is active in every sphere. Earth, water, fire, air, and every active principle, all chemicals, and all material elements are due to Krishna (Bhagavad Gita 7:4).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

He is the origin and dissolution of all that is material and all that is spiritual in this world (Bhagavad Gita 7:6).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

He is the original fragrance of this earth, He is the light in the fire, and He is the life of all that lives (Bhagavad Gita 7:9).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

He is the taste of water, the light of the sun and the moon, and He is the syllable’ AUM’, He is the sound in ether, and He is the ability in man (Bhagavad Gita 7:8).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. Simultaneously One and Different.

Lord Krishna is the original seed of all existences (Bhagavad Gita 7:10).

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya.

Most interestingly, a similar claim is made in the Gospel According to Apostle John. The Book of John, chapter 1, verse 3 states, “All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made.” The Bhagavad Gita describes Lord Krishna as the Controller, and all living entities are controlled by Him.

THE DIVERSE ENERGIES OF THE LORD:

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya.

All states or modes of existence such as goodness, passion, and ignorance are manifestations of His energy (Bhagavad Gita 7:12). The material nature is known by the Sanskrit word ‘Prakriti’, and all living entities are viewed as the multi energies of Krishna.
The difference lies in the quantity of energy that they contain. Energies are always controlled by the ‘Energetic’, the true source of energy. As such living entities are always controlled and they have no independent existence. While Krishna is everything, but He is independent. He is not controlled by the modes of this material nature (Bhagavad Gita 7:12).

Humans exist by drawing energy from material nature and Krishna has no such dependence. Human life is a manifestation of the creative power and energy and the existence is dependent upon the five life-giving forces contained in the material nature. Sun and moon are seen as components of the sky. They control the biological rhythms of all living creatures. The energy from Sun is trapped by the plants and is converted into complex compounds by a process known as photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is also the source of stored energies such as coal, fossil fuels, and natural gas. The Earth and its atmosphere provide all the nutrients (directly or indirectly via the mechanism of the food chains), the minerals, and the elements that are important for the structure and functioning of living entities. Water is the chief ingredient of living organisms. The act of breathing, the mechanism of respiration is an important physiological mechanism for living cells. The ability to use wind/air to a great extent defines the living process. Respiration is the process by which the cells generate energy for their activities. Fire provides the heat and energy for all metabolic activities and we exist by burning sugars and other energy providing sources. Nature (Five Life giving Energies) supports life and it helps to bring forth new members from preexisting forms of life but can not generate new beings on its own. Life can not begin spontaneously without the intervention of a creative force/energy.

What is Creativity?

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. All living things exist as Individuals with Individuality even if the Genome is cloned or genetically identical. The variation expressed is the nature of the DNA molecule.

Creative power is the power that is able to bring forth new beings. Creativity is the ability to make or otherwise bring into existence something new. The single most important element in the creative process is believed to be originality or uniqueness. Nature (Five Life giving Energies) helps in the process of replication/reproduction and sustains life. As per the Biogenetic Law, a species breeds to produce its own kind. Creativity imparts that label of distinctiveness by causing individualistic variations.
Krishna is the personification of that creative energy and the beautiful paintings of ‘Raas Leela’ are an example of His ability to be one and different at the same time.

Whole Phenomenon – Whole Creator – The Doctrine of Whole Creationism: The Doctrine of Creation and Creative Potency called Maya. The existence of all living things as Individuals with Individualistic Variations is the manifestation of the Creative Potency called Maya

SUPREME  PHENOMENON

Supreme Phenomenon of Human Birth – The Celebration of Lord Krishna. SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE KNOWER-THE KNOWING-SELF: MAN, THE ENTIRE HUMAN ORGANISM IS DERIVED FROM A SINGLE FERTILIZED EGG CELL . HOW IS THE IDENTITY AND INDIVIDUALITY IS ESTABLISHED AND IS KNOWN IN THIS COMPLEX MULTICELLULAR ORGANISM?

By R. Suryanarayana Murthy

I saw thee dragging thy feet up the stairs

Making me watch every movement of thine

Step by step, you steadied up,

Thy broad smile hiding all thy effort

What angel pushes thee up no eye can see.

I saw thee stretching, hugging the mother earth,

Rising and falling while crawling all the way;

All to thyself, no pitfall to frighten thee,

Nor danger lurking can stop thee going

And when the journey was finished there is that glow

“Who can beat me in the race?” thy challenge goes out

Thou art the victor in all such deeds.

Thou wert the star attraction of all ages,

Napoleon acclaiming thee as the greatest of all creation;

Saintly Gandhi hugged thee to press his lips on thine

“Chacha” Nehru crawled by thy side forgetting his power and pomp;

Can the royal throne or sceptred sway provide anything equal to thee?

Thou hast remained through ages humanity’s main hope in a naughty world.

Why did the Buddha see in thy birth unredeemed sorrow and suffering?

Why was it that Jesus saw in thy advent the gnawing pain of unsullied sin?

Or why was it the great Sankara said that thy emergence was enveloped in ‘Maya’ or illusion?

Thou did confound every philosopher and kept to thyself the mystery surrounding thy species

Thou an enigma and a riddle proclaiming the unanswerable divine will.

Still the world all over rejoices in thee and gives thee royal welcome

Without thee life is a desert with no flower to bloom,

Without thee the sweetest of poetry finds no place in heart

Thou art the greatest messenger of love

And give thy message to everybody, “Love thy neighbour as thou lovest thy child,

And see in every person a latent child

And discard all hatred that corrodes the soul.”

What more sublime is there than thy living touch

What greater joy is there than thy winning smile?

For me thou art a Supreme Phenomenon

With none to surpass not even the father, nor the mother.

Supreme Phenomenon of Human Birth – The Celebration of Lord Krishna

Whole Designer – The Designing of Red Blood Cell

Whole Designer: The spiritual nature of the Red Blood Cell Design. Spiritual Optics. The Designing of the Red Blood Cells

Yes Indeed, Life is Complicated. The complexity of Life involves the use of a very complex predetermined plan to design the tissues, the organs, and the organ systems of the entire human organism from a single, fertilized egg cell that divides and differentiates into a most complex variety of cells which perform very specialized functions. The Red Blood Cell provides the connective linkage to sustain the living functions of the trillions of the building blocks of the human body.

Whole Dude - Whole Designer - Red Blood Cells: In multicellular organisms, cells with the same genes must differentiate into many types. Complex control mechanisms determine which genes are active in a given cell at a given time. Human life begins as a single fertilized Egg Cell. The multicellular organism grows and develops as it has definite capabilities for differentiation. The "Design" of cells has been modified to serve the specialized functions of tissues and organs that comprise the human body. Red Blood Cells are "designed" to perform their highly specialized functions.
Whole-Dude – Whole-Designer – Red Blood Cells: In multicellular organisms, cells with the same genes must differentiate into many types. Complex control mechanisms determine which genes are active in a given cell at a given time. Human life begins as a single fertilized Egg Cell. The multicellular organism grows and develops as it has definite capabilities for differentiation. The “Design” of cells has been modified to serve the specialized functions of tissues and organs that comprise the human body. Red Blood Cells are “designed” to perform their highly specialized functions.

If man is viewed as a multicellular organism, the human subject finds his objective existence because of the living functions of the cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems that provide the biological basis for that existence.

The spiritual nature of the Red Blood Cell Design: Man, the entire human organism is derived from a single, fertilized Egg Cell. How does this complex multicellular organism knows its own Identity and Individuality?

In multicellular eukaryotes, cells with the same genes must differentiate into many types. Multicellularity is accomplished by definite capabilities for differentiation. The functional differentiation is not a simple process that can be called adaptation. To achieve differentiation, complex control mechanisms determine which genes are active in a given cell at a given time. The “Design” of cells has been modified by a predetermined plan to serve the specialized function of tissues and organs. The structural differentiation and the functional organization of various organ systems makes man a very complex living organism.

The spiritual nature of the Red Blood Cell Design. The Whole Person, The Whole Man, The Whole Body, Mind, and Spirit, The Whole Dude, or the entire human organism is derived from this single, fertilized Egg Cell which I describe as “The Whole Cell.”

It must be clearly understood that the living cell is a thermodynamically unstable system. This means that without a continuous input of energy, a cell will degrade spontaneously into a nonliving collection of molecules. The cells that comprise the human organism derive their energy by oxidation of food substances such as glucose. The cells of the body require oxygen to obtain the energy stored in food substances. The loss of oxygen is very critical as there is no means of storing oxygen in the human body. During the entire course of human life, the human body requires continuous delivery of oxygen to its various cells, tissues, and organs. The Red Blood Cells display functional subordination to the requirements of the organism as a Whole.

Altruism is a theory of conduct that regards the good of others as the end of moral action. The Red Blood Cells have very short, individual lifespans and the entire period of their existence involves unselfish concern for the welfare of other cells.

Whole Dude – Whole Designer – Red Blood Cell: Red Blood Cells are packed with hemoglobin. Each Red Cell contains over 600 million hemoglobin molecules. A normal man has about 5 liters of blood containing more than 25 trillion Red Blood Cells. Each lives for about 100 to 120 days. Red Blood Cells sustain their meagre energy needs by a form of anaerobic respiration. If man is viewed as a biotic community of cells, Red Cells show no concern for their individual gains or losses and they serve and contribute to the continuation of the Whole community.

Red Blood Cells, or Erythrocytes, or Red Corpuscles are tiny, flat, round, biconcave disks, with depressed center, averaging 7.5 microns in diameter. In its profile view, the Red Blood Cell appears dumbell-shaped. A normal man has about 5  liters of blood containing more than 25 trillion Red Blood Cells. There are about 5.2 million Red Blood Cells per cubic millimeter of blood in adult humans. The normal lifespan of Red Cells is only about 100 to 120 days. More than 200 billion Red Cells are normally destroyed each day by the spleen and must be replaced. The creation of new Red Cells and their subsequent destruction proceeds during all the days of human life. The Red Cells give the blood its characteristic color. The cell is flexible and can change its shape to pass through extremely small blood vessels. It is covered with a membrane composed of lipids and proteins. The mature Red Blood Cells lacks a nucleus and hence cannot divide into new daughter cells. The mature Red Blood Cell also lacks intracellular organelles called mitochondria which provide energy for metabolic functions. During the course of its development and maturation, the nucleus and mitochondria disappear from the Red Cell.

The amount of oxygen required by the Red Cell for its own metabolism is very low. The Red Cell shows the features of a careful design or plan that makes it to perform its function of delivering oxygen with great efficiency. In invertebrate organisms, the oxygen-carrying pigment called Heme is found in a free state in the plasma for they lack the Red Blood Cells. The concentration of Heme pigment and the biconcave shape of the Red Blood Cell makes it very efficient  to perform the function of exchange of gases; the Red Cell can deliver almost all of its oxygen it carries and free it into the tissues where there is demand for oxygen and its shape allows oxygen exchange at a constant rate over the largest possible area.

WholeDude - WholeDesigner - Red Blood Cell: The Red Cell has the ability to work as an oxygen sensor and it also has the ability to modulate the tone of the blood vessel in which it travels passively. By initiating a mechanism, the Red Cell can cause an effect called vasodilatation that would increase the flow of blood in microvasculature to meet the local tissue oxygen demand.

WholeDude - Whole Designer - Red Blood Cell: The Red Cells move passively in the blood circulation, but can actively interact with the blood vessel in response to the oxygen tension of the tissues. These interactions are helped by PR(Purinergic Receptor), Erythrocyte-derived Adenosine triphosphate(ATP), Gi(Heterotrimeric G Protein), cAMP(3'5'-Adenosine monophosphate), PKA(Protein Kinase A), CFTR(Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator, ? undientified conduit for ATP release + stimulation. Through oxygen-dependent release of the vasodilator ATP, signal transduction within the RBC and microvessels, the SMC(the smooth muscle cell) of the blood vessel is stimulated to dilate. The signals pass through the Endo(endothelium) or the cells that line the inner surface of the blood vessel.

The main function of the Red Cells is to transport oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and organs of the entire human body. During the process of oxidation, the cells generate carbon dioxide as a waste product which must be removed. The Red Cells carry carbon dioxide to the lungs and release it to be returned to the atmospheric air. This is possible because of hemoglobin which forms unstable, reversible bond with oxygen; in the oxygenated state it is called Oxyhemoglobin and is bright red in color. When oxygen is delivered, in the reduced state the hemoglobin is purple-blue and this color can be easily noticed from the color of the veins that return blood to heart from various parts of the body. Asphyxiation occurs when the blood contains an excess of substances like carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide with which hemoglobin forms semipermanent or permanent compounds instead of reversible bonds that hemoglobin forms with oxygen.

The affinity of Hemoglobin molecule for oxygen is predetermined by the ability of Chlorophyll molecule to trap radiant energy which is converted into chemical energy during the photosynthetic reaction. These molecules perform goal-oriented, sequential actions to achieve a predetermined purpose. Living things obtain energy not because of random, unguided, interactions of chemical molecules.

WholeDude - WholeDesigner - Red Blood Cell: Heme is a respiratory pigment found in the Red Blood Cells of all vertebrates and some invertebrates. Pigment is a substance that implants color to materials. Plants derive their green color from Chlorophyll pigment, and blood derives it red color from Heme pigment. Both Chlorophyll and Heme are similar molecules containing ring structures called Porphyrins. Chlorophyll contains Magnesium and Heme contains Iron that imparts the red color.

Adult hemoglobin is an alpha(2):beta(2) tetrameric hemeprotein; a combination of heme and the protein component called globin. Each subunit of a hemoglobin tetramer has a heme prosthetic group. The variations in amino acid composition impart marked differences in hemoglobin’s oxygen carrying properties. The quaternary structure of hemoglobin leads to physiologically important allosteric interactions between the subunits. Oxygen is incrementally loaded into the four subunits. In deoxygenated tissue, oxygen is incrementally unloaded from the four subunits and the affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen is reduced. Thus at the lowest oxygen tensions found in very active tissues, the bonding affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen is very low allowing maximal delivery of oxygen to the tissues.

To maintain the status called good and positive health, the cells, tissues, and organs of the multicellular human organism have to be interacting with each other in a harmonious manner. These interactions during normal, good health display characteristics such as mutual assistance, mutual cooperation, mutual tolerance, and mutual functional subordination to provide a benefit to the human individual who lives because of the functions of the cells, tissues, and organs that comprise his human body.

Whole Dude – Whole Designer – Red Blood Cell: The nature of Spiritual Biotic Interactions that maintain man’s existence can be studied by knowing the role of Red Blood Cells and their interaction with the tissues, and organs of the entire human body.

The terrestrial human organism represents a biotic, or biological community of about 100 trillion, individual, independent, mostly autonomous living cells that participate in constant interactions with each other. These interactions at cellular level are dependent upon the cognitive nature of the living cell. The living cell has the ability to recognize the presence of other cells in its immediate, external environment. The life of all of the cells in this biotic community that forms the human body requires energy input from an external source.

The term “Spiritual” describes a relationship, a partnership, an association, a bonding, or a connection between two living entities that can formulate an interaction that can display features such as assistance, cooperation, tolerance, subservience, subordination, sympathy, and compassion to provide some benefit to the partner that is participating in the biotic interaction.

The Red Blood Cells interact with the cells of tissues, and organs of human body to provide them a service, assistance, or a benefit without seeking any benefit in return. The Red Blood Cells do not seek to reproduce, have very minimal requirement for energy and willingly deliver oxygen to the tissues and relieve them from the burden imposed by the waste products of their metabolic activities. The ‘spiritual’ nature of such interaction is a reflection of the ‘spiritual’ nature of the Creator of the living entities who could be called the Whole Artist, the Whole Designer, or the Whole Architect who meticulously planned and instituted the mechanisms and provided the necessary tools for such varied interdependent, and interrelated interactions between living cells. Thus, the Red Blood Cells constitute the principal stabilizing, connective linkage among the trillions of living cells that comprise the biological community which gets recognized as the human being.

The Laws of Thermodynamics help to study the function of Consciousness or Chetana

Bharat Darshan -Defining Spirituality from a Study of the Laws of Thermodynamics. The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System

What it is to be a Substance? and What it is to Exist? We need to establish knowledge about the man on a firm basis and the information it provides must be tested for its accuracy and consistency with an external reality. We have to make the fundamental distinction between the living and the non-living matter. The scientific advances of the 19th and 20th centuries reinforced the materialistic position concerning the basic similarity of organic living and inorganic physical matter. The man is viewed as a product of natural evolution and is thought to be subject to the same laws of Physics and Chemistry or mechanistic principles.

Bharat Darshan -Defining Spirituality from a Study of the Laws of Thermodynamics. The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. What it is to be a Substance? and What it is to Exist?

We need a methodology to study philosophy and to understand philosophical statements. Logical Positivism, also known as Scientific Empiricism aims to clarify concepts in both everyday and scientific language. It describes analysis of language as the function of philosophy. This analysis of language and of concepts is important to understand questions of belief and ideology which affect what we think we ought to do individually and socially. I use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the concept of Spiritual Optics, the Spiritual Connection between Energy and Life. The Laws of Thermodynamics are important unifying principles of Biology. The First Law of Thermodynamics, also known as the Law of Conservation of Energy, states that Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Spiritual Optics accounts for the capacity of photoreception and the term Spiritual Light refers to the creation of Light by God to begin the designing of Matter described by Physics and Chemistry. I may not be able to discover the Purpose in my Life if I exist in Spiritual Darkness.

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Rudolf Julius Emanuel Clausius (1822-1888), German physicist and mathematician, the Founder of the Science of Thermodynamics. His work in 1850, ‘On the mechanical theory of heat’ established the Second Law of Thermodynamics and during 1865, he introduced the concept of Entropy.

Thermodynamics and Entropy:

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Entropy is the thermodynamic property toward equilibrium/average/homogenization/dissipation. Ice melting in a warm room is a common example of increasing entropy; an increase in the motions/positions of the water molecules in solid ice: Order leading to Disorder.

Thermodynamics is the branch of science concerned with the nature of Heat and its conversion into other forms of energy. Heat is internal energy of a substance and it is a form of energy associated with the positions and motions of its component molecules, atoms, and ions. The total energy that a body contains as a result of the positions and the motions of its component parts is called its internal energy. The First Law of Thermodynamics states: “In any process, energy can be changed from one form to another (including heat and work), but it is never created or destroyed.” In any process, the change in a System’s internal energy is equal to the heat absorbed from the environment minus the work done on the environment. This Law of Conservation of Heat is similar to the Law of Conservation of Energy. According to the Second Law of Thermodynamics, during any spontaneous process, the change in entropy of a System is either zero or positive. The term ‘entropy’ in Thermodynamics indicates the degree to which a given quantity of thermal energy is available for doing useful work- the greater the entropy, the less available the energy. A consequence of the Second Law is that an engine can deliver work only when heat is transferred from a hot reservoir to a cold reservoir or heat sink. In 1877, Ludwig Boltzmann, an Austrian physicist demonstrated the significance of entropy on the molecular level relating entropy to disorder at the level of the molecules of the System. This concept of entropy as a measure of disorder is also used in Information Theory. Entropy represents quantity specifying the amount of disorder or randomness in a System bearing energy or information. However, in Information Theory, entropy represents the “noise”, or random errors occurring in the transmission of signals or messages. It is important to know that heat and work are related and represent forms of energy that can be inter-converted. The study of Thermodynamics is central to both Chemistry and Physics and is useful in understanding biological processes such as Temperature Regulation in human body. While Thermodynamics studies changes in Physical State or Condition such as solid ice becoming liquid water, it is important to remember that the chemical properties of water molecules remain the same while the physical condition of water may change from solid, liquid, and gas.

Temperature Regulation and Spiritualism:

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Human body uses various homeostatic, physiological mechanisms to regulate body temperature and it is aided by the physical laws of environment heat exchange to maintain the internal temperature close to 37 degrees centigrade.

The ability of an organism to keep body temperature within certain boundaries is critical for the survival of the organism. Human body maintains its internal body temperature close to 37 degrees centigrade by balancing heat production and heat loss.

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Internal thermal normality is maintained by the Thermosensitive cells of the Heat center in Hypothalamus of the brain. It receives the stimuli from the thermosensitive receptors in the deep layers of the skin. Hypothalamus can initiate the temperature regulatory response via the nerve, and the hormone pathways. It sends impulses to the Temperature Regulating center in the medulla of the brain stem. The hormonal response involves the Pituitary- Adrenal Cortex pathway.

The external physical laws of thermal exchange which influence the body heat balance are Conduction, Radiation, Convection, and Evaporation from the body surface. In all medical conditions and health conditions that are related to climatic variation in temperature such as Hypothermia, or Heat Stroke (Heat Hyperpyrexia), the medical interventions use the principles of Thermodynamics.

The Living System is an Open System that is thermodynamically unstable and hence it constantly requires input of energy from an external source. Life comes into existence when energy-yielding molecules and energy-demanding molecules come together in a spiritual relationship. The term ‘Spiritual’ describes the nature of a relationship, a partnership, a connection, bonding, or an association between chemical molecules based upon characteristics such as that of providing some benefit to keep the System to continue its functions.

The Laws of Thermodynamics and the concept of Consciousness in Living Systems: The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Spiritualism and Entropy: Human body uses various homeostatic, physiological mechanisms to regulate body temperature and it is aided by the physical laws of environment heat exchange to maintain the internal temperature close to 37 degrees centigrade.

In a Living System, the conversion of energy into work involves the operation of Consciousness and the application of Knowledge. Consciousness or awareness is the mechanism that operates the structural and functional relationship between molecules. Consciousness is the principle by which a Living System that is thermodynamically unstable knows the fact of its own existence, it knows as to where it exists and knows as to how it is existing. Hence, Consciousness is a Spiritual mechanism as it establishes a relationship between the energy-dependent Living System and its energy-yielding provider. This is a relationship that requires use of Knowledge which is defined as the fact of knowing a range of information which is used to perform highly selective, sequential tasks under proper guidance. In the operation of a Living System, there is no random, unguided and unpredictable movement of molecules.

I speak about Life as structural and functional organization of matter with implanted knowledge. Spiritualism is the potency that generates the experience of Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the interactions within the Living System and between Living Systems. The statement, “When Entropy leads to Order” is not applicable to the Living Systems that are Open. Soul or Spirit is the Life Principle; the vital or animating principle found in all the Living Things. Spiritualism is the guiding mechanism to establish Order in Biotic Actions and Interactions and the term ‘Disorder’ is often associated with either dysfunction or disease.

WHEN ENTROPY LEADS TO ORDER:

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Computer simulations by University of Michigan researchers Pablo Damasceno, Sharon Glotzer, and Michael Engel have shown how entropy can nudge nanoparticles into organized structures. They can even predict what kinds of structures will form. Image credit: Laura Rudich

The second law of thermodynamics says that in a closed system, entropy — colloquially thought of as a measure of disorder or uncertainty — cannot decrease. Sharon Glotzer studies the counterintuitive instances when entropy doesn’t work that way.

Researchers trying to herd tiny particles into useful ordered formations have found an unlikely ally: entropy, a tendency generally described as “disorder.” Computer simulations by University of Michigan scientists and engineers show that the property can nudge particles to form organized structures. By analyzing the shapes of the particles beforehand, they can even predict what kinds of structures will form. The findings, published in Science, help lay the ground rules for making designer materials with wild capabilities such as shape-shifting skins to camouflage a vehicle or optimize its aerodynamics.Physicist and chemical engineering professor Sharon Glotzer proposes that such materials could be designed by working backward from the desired properties to generate a blueprint. That design can then be realized with nanoparticles—particles a thousand times smaller than the width of a human hair that can combine in ways that would be impossible through ordinary chemistry alone. One of the major challenges is persuading the nanoparticles to create the intended structures, but recent studies by Glotzer’s group and others showed that some simple particle shapes do so spontaneously as the particles are crowded together. The team wondered if other particle shapes could do the same.”We studied 145 different shapes, and that gave us more data than anyone has ever had on these types of potential crystal-formers,” Glotzer said, “With so much information, we could begin to see just how many structures are possible from particle shape alone, and look for trends.”Using computer code written by chemical engineering research investigator Michael Engel, applied physics graduate student Pablo Damasceno ran thousands of virtual experiments, exploring how each shape behaved under different levels of crowding. The program could handle any polyhedral shape, such as dice with any number of sides. Left to their own devices, drifting particles find the arrangements with the highest entropy. That arrangement matches the idea that entropy is a disorder if the particles have enough space: they disperse, pointed in random directions. But crowded tightly, the particles began forming crystal structures like atoms do—even though they couldn’t make bonds. These ordered crystals had to be the high-entropy arrangements, too.

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Shapes can arrange themselves into crystal structures through entropy alone, new research from the University of Michigan shows. Image credit: P. Damasceno, M. Engel, S. Glotzer

Glotzer explains that this isn’t really disorder creating order—entropy needs its image updated. Instead, she describes it as a measure of possibilities. If you could turn off gravity and empty a bag full of dice into a jar, the floating dice would point every which way. However, if you keep adding dice, eventually space becomes so limited that the dice have more options to align face-to-face. The same thing happens to the nanoparticles, which are so small that they feel entropy’s influence more strongly than gravity’s. “It’s all about options. In this case, ordered arrangements produce the most possibilities, the most options. It’s counterintuitive, to be sure,” Glotzer said. The simulation results showed that nearly 70% of the shapes tested produced crystal-like structures under entropy alone. But the shocker was how complicated some of these structures were, with up to 52 particles involved in the pattern that repeated throughout the crystal.”That’s an extraordinarily complex crystal structure even for atoms to form, let alone particles that can’t chemically bond,” Glotzer said. The particle shapes produced three crystal types: regular crystals like salt, liquid crystals as found in some flat-screen televisions and plastic crystals in which particles can spin in place. By analyzing the shape of the particle and how groups of them behave before they crystallize, Damasceno said that it is possible to predict which type of crystal the particles would make.”The geometry of the particles themselves holds the secret for their assembly behavior,” he said. Why the other 30% never formed crystal structures, remaining as disordered glasses, is a mystery.”These may still want to form crystals but got stuck. What’s neat is that for any particle that gets stuck, we had other, awfully similar shapes forming crystals,” Glotzer said. In addition to finding out more about how to coax nanoparticles into structures, her team will also try to discover why some shapes resist order.

This research was supported by the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (M.E.). The paper is titled “Predictive Self-Assembly of Polyhedra into Complex Structures.

The concept of Entropy as a measure of disorder in a System is not applicable to the Living System. Shape has a pervasive but often overlooked impact on how natural systems are ordered. At the same time, entropy (the probabilistic measure of the degree of energy delocalization in a system) – while often misunderstood as the state of a system’s disorder – and emergence (the sometimes controversial observance of macroscopic behaviors not seen in isolated systems of a few constituents) are two areas of research that have long received, and are likely to continue receiving, significant scientific attention. Now, materials science and chemical engineering researchers working with computer simulations of colloidal suspensions of hard nanoparticles at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor have linked entropy and emergence through a little-understood property they refer to as shape entropy – an emergent, entropic effect – unrelated to geometric entropy or topological entropy – that differs from and competes with intrinsic shape properties that arise from both the shape geometry and the material itself and affect surface, chemical and other intrinsic properties.

Glotzer is the Stuart W. Churchill Collegiate Professor of Chemical Engineering and a professor of chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, macromolecular science and engineering, and physics in College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.

To define food as any substance consumed to provide the nutritional support to an organism is incomplete as it fails to describe the totality of the relationship between food and its consumer. It means that the living system that is represented by the cell will dissolve into its non-living molecules and elements if not supplied energy from an external source.

The Theory of Food – Spiritual Optics: Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. Salutations to Mother Annapurna. The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods. The Living Cell is a thermodynamically unstable system. This means that without a continuous input of Energy, a Living Cell will degrade spontaneously into a collection of nonliving molecules.

Food provides those energy-yielding molecules to energy-demanding molecules that constitute the Physical being. Food is used as a general term to describe substances consumed by man for nourishment. Food is defined as any substance which a living organism can convert into its own living substance from which it grows and develops new tissue, manipulates energy, etc., using a process called ‘metabolism’. The term ‘nutrient’ is explained as a substance that serves as food, or provides nourishment. The term ‘nutrition’ refers to the process of feeding or being nourished. As mentioned earlier, all the tissues and organs of which the human body is composed, consists of building blocks called cells. Every cell contains a spherical body called nucleus and a ground material, living substance, or living matter called ‘protoplasm’. The most striking characteristic of protoplasm is its vital property called ‘Nutrition’. In Human Physiology, the term ‘Nutrition’ is used to describe the ‘power’ which protoplasm has of attracting to itself the materials that provide energy, and the substances for its growth and maintenance from surrounding matter or extracellular environment. Man must feed himself and yet he depends upon the ability of cells to recognize the specific nutrient substances and take action to absorb them and process them for further use. Nutritional Science describes three major functions of food; 1. food generates energy for growth, maintenance and activity, 2. food supplies agents like vitamins and others that are needed to make or to help enzymes which carry out a variety of cellular processes, and 3. food provides the building materials like proteins and amino acids that are used for building cells and tissues of the body. The essential human nutrients are proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and vitamins. Human body cannot synthesize some of these nutrients and they must be supplied. To make this easy for understanding, human foods are divided into classes and the basic nutritional goal is to have a ‘Balanced Diet’ with items from all of the major Food Groups to perform all the living functions such as the uptake and conversion of nutrients, making, breaking, and repairing of organic molecules, production of energy, and regulation and coordination of various metabolic sequences.

The term ‘Whole’ is often used to describe something that is entire or complete to signify that it has all the elements or parts constituting the entire amount and it is not broken, damaged, or defective. The term ‘Whole’ also means auspicious, healthy, or uninjured and not diseased. We need to define the human being as a Whole Person, Whole Self, or Whole Dude to understand the complete entity that exists as man. There are Seven Dimensions of Whole Person: 1. Man-the Physical Being, 2. Man-the Mental being, 3. Man-the Social being, 4. Man-the Moral being, 5. Man-the Spiritual being, 6. Man-the Creative Being, and 7. Man-the Rational Being. These seven components have to come together to establish the reality of man’s biological existence in the physical world. In the context of ‘Whole Food’, we must find qualities that fit into this description of being ‘Whole’ and its ability to perform all the functions that are attributed to Food.

Whole Food – Whole Human:

There is a huge growing concern about the substances that are added to food by food industry. The concern involves the use of synthetic or artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Food that may contain artificial colors, artificial flavors and chemical preservatives may not promote good health and are even suspected to cause injury or disease. Hence, the concept of ‘Whole Food’ demands the exclusion of such artificial colors and flavors and all synthetic preservatives from the food products used by the man for his physical well-being. Even when chemicals are not added to food, there is a concern about chemicals like synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and hormones that are used by the food and agriculture industry. It calls for understanding the term called ‘Natural Food’. To be called ‘natural’, food must not be exposed or tainted by chemicals that are not ‘naturally’ present in the substances that are consumed as Food. This concern is often reflected in the demand for ‘Organic Food’ that calls for the exclusion of synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and growth hormones in the production of food. Apart from these considerations, the use of additives to change the taste, texture, and appearance of food have caused several health-related concerns. Some of them relate to the use of artificial sweeteners, and the use of partially hydrogenated oils. To qualify as ‘Whole Food’, it may require the exclusion of artificial sweeteners and the so-called ‘transfats’ from food. This concern is also extended to genetically modified organisms or GMOs that have become common. The genetically modified trait may impart some benefit to the substance and yet it may not qualify to be described as Natural Food or ‘Whole Food’.

Whole Food – Whole Satisfaction:

The Theory of Food – Spiritual Optics: Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. Salutations to Mother Annapurna. The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods. The Concept of Food and Nutrition must include the human desire to find the living experience or condition called Satiation, Satisfaction, and Contentment. Food must satisfy the cravings of the Soul for Everlasting Life.

The man is constituted to exist as a Mental being. The man relates to himself, his physical body with the help of his thoughts and moods. The man often tries to discover his ‘essence’ or true identity not in his physical, living substance, but by knowing his ideas, thoughts, and imagination which describes his physical identity. These mental concepts that relate to identity are always associated with feelings and moods that give meaning to the living condition or living experience. Food provides substances to constitute the physical components of the body and it also affects man’s thoughts and moods. The problems related to a man’s feeding behavior will not be eliminated by supplying him what is defined as ‘Balanced Diet’. The health problems associated with food consumption and caloric intake seem to persist even when the man consumes ‘Balanced Diet’. It calls for further understanding of the functions of Food and we have to define the term ‘Whole Food’ by sharing the ‘Whole Story’ about Food and its role in human life. There are two important aspects of Food that are not taken into consideration by Nutritional Science. The Law may require that food products that are sold by retail food stores or grocery stores must provide adequate ‘Nutritional Information’. The products are labeled to provide information about the ingredients, allergens, and nutritional facts to help the consumer of food to make an informed choice about the food that is consumed. Such nutritional choices are helpful and yet there is a problem about the Food. The concept of ‘Whole Food’ gives recognition to the role of Food apart from its function to supply the nutrients. Food must provide satiation or the experience of mental contentment or psychological satisfaction from its consumption and it includes the craving for Everlasting Life.

Whole Food – Whole Community:

The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods. The human body is the natural host to trillions of microbes. The Concept of Whole Community and Whole Biome

The man is constituted to exist as a Social being. The man’s growth and development demands social support. The man as a biological living entity can only be described as an association of trillions of individual cells or as a multicellular organism. At the same time, there are about 10 times 100 trillion microbes that inhabit the human gastrointestinal tract. The man is a natural host and there is a mutually beneficial relationship between man the host, and the microbes that reside in his body. During the entire course of his life, the man shares his food and drink with the guests who have taken residence in his body. These guests perform the function of an internal organ system and are important for the man’s health and well-being. Man will always exist as a member of a Biotic or Biological community without any chance of true independence. This understanding is promoting the consumption of foods that are popularly termed as ‘Probiotic’.

The Concept of Whole Community or Whole Biome.

The man to support his health and well-being has to consume some living organisms on a regular basis to replenish the microbes that are lost due to excretion. Food plays a vital role in the development, and the maintenance of social interactions, and social relationships.Food-directed activities of man often need social situations and social bonding. Food has the intrinsic ability to nurture a relationship between the provider of the food and the food consumer. At the same time, there is a direct emotional relationship between man and the Food he consumes. The man derives emotional satisfaction called ‘Satiation’ when he consumes Food. It contributes to satisfaction or a sense of mental contentment to shape his living experience. The man lives to experience satisfaction or mental contentment by gratifying his desires or cravings. Food craving is very important part of a man’s life and biological existence. Balanced Diet may or may not provide the psychological contentment that man wants to derive by consuming Food. Such satisfaction demands social bonding between man and the food and between man and his provider of food. Hence, we have to develop our understanding of Food as a medium or as a substance that has the potency to develop and form relationships, association, connection, and bonding between man and his social community and environment in which man exists, and by the consumption of ‘Whole Food’ man may find ‘Whole Satisfaction’ in his living experience.

Whole Food – Whole Relations:

The Theory of Food – Spiritual Optics: Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. Salutations to Mother Annapurna. The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods. The act of consuming or eating Food establishes Social Bonding between the Food Provider and the Food Consumer. Feeding has a social purpose and it initiates social interactions. There is always a spiritual relationship between Mother and the Baby, a relationship based upon sympathy, understanding, affection, feelings, and Love.

Apart from nutrition, a man consumes food for psychological satisfaction or to derive a sense of emotional contentment, and for the benefit of other individuals. A pregnant woman consumes food to provide a direct benefit to the baby growing in her womb. This placental connection between a mother and her fetus establishes an anatomical relationship and a social relationship and social bonding between the two, both during the duration of pregnancy and after the delivery of the baby. The man’s feeding behavior and feeding activities are influenced by social, and external environmental factors. Both, the timing of feeding, and the choice of food are affected by social facilitation. Food-directed activities in social situations demonstrate the ability of food to establish a connection between a food provider and the food consumer. Hunger and Satiety operate the physiological mechanisms related to food intake. The psychological, and emotional contentment derived from food is related to Social Bonding and Social Relationships that are fostered by Food. I describe spirituality as a relationship based upon sympathy, understanding, affection, feelings of care and Love. Food has the intrinsic ability to nurture a spiritual relationship between the provider of the food and its consumer. There is also a direct emotional relationship between a man and the food he consumes. The causes for excessive or overeating are not yet fully understood. Overeating could be a symptom of boredom or mental frustration. For many persons who indulge in overeating, the craving to eat is very strong and is similar to the craving for alcohol in the alcoholic and for a cigarette in a person addicted to tobacco smoke. The physiological mechanisms of hunger and thirst cannot fully account for the feeding behavior of a man. Just like lust, and greed, the man has psychological desire or craving for food and develops an intimate relationship with the food and drink he consumes. However, the man can always express his craving for food in a spiritual context and seek the satisfaction provided by knowing the nature of God-Connection.

Whole Food – Whole Ecology:

The Theory of Food – Spiritual Optics: Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. Salutations to Mother Annapurna. The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods. Whole Ecology. Food is the medium through which interrelatedness, interdependence, and the interconnectedness of living organisms is expressed.

The man is constituted to exist as a Spiritual being. The term ‘spiritual’ refers to relationships that are based upon feelings of sympathy and understanding. The man has to define the spiritual basis of his relationship with the rest of the biological community and the physical environment that is common to all of them. Ecology is the Science that is concerned with the relation between organisms and their environment. ‘Food Chain’ in Ecology describes the sequence of transfers of matter and energy from organism to organism in the form of food. Food is the medium through which interrelatedness, interdependence, and the interconnectedness of organisms that are members of an Ecological System is expressed. A balanced growth of organisms that are connected in an Ecosystem demands the concept of ‘Sustainable Development’. Natural resources have to be used wisely to sustain the qualities of environment that support living systems. The man needs food for his nourishment and to find this nourishment, the man should also stop the environmental pollution and degradation that may upset the delicate Ecological Balance that operates in Nature. The manner in which a man acquires energy-yielding molecules from his environment will ultimately define the man’s definition of Food.

The human beings acting individually and collectively have developed ‘Food Culture’ and Food Traditions to express their moral and ethical principles in all of their food-directed activities and behavior.

The man is constituted to exist as a Moral Being. He is intrinsically endowed with a nature that displays the ability called discernment. He has the ability to choose right conduct and right behavior as he has the ability to discern right from wrong, and distinguish good from bad. This human nature called discernment is related to the nature of the living substance or living matter called protoplasm. I have described its vital property called the Power of Nutrition. It uses this power with a sense of discernment. Protoplasm while attracting substances found in its external environment, it uses a very selective uptake process. Some substances are accepted and tolerated and some are rejected. It expresses intolerance to the presence of certain substances and its response may even cause a severe and sometimes life-threatening allergic reaction. The man has no ability to consume all substances as Food. He has to know about good and bad food choices, and he has to know as to which food is right and as to which food is wrong. The human beings acting individually and collectively have developed ‘Food Culture’ and Food Traditions to express their moral and ethical principles in all of their food-directed activities and behavior.

Whole Food – Whole Spirituality:

The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods. Whole Spirituality describes the Spiritual Dimension of Food. It formulates a binding relationship between Man, Food and God.

Food is defined as any substance which a living organism can convert into its own living substance or living matter called protoplasm, the physical basis of Life. This substance could be viewed as a spiritual substance as it has the potency to formulate functional harmony and mutually beneficial relationship among the cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems that grow and develop using the energy and organic molecules synthesized by protoplasm. The concept of ‘Whole Food’ will naturally include the concept of Food as a Whole Spiritual Substance that must be treated with respect and devotion. Such an attitude of respect and devotion would help the man to use Food as a Spiritual Medium to establish a Connection, a Relationship, an Association, a Partnership, and Bonding between the Food Consumer and the Divine Providence.

Whole Food – Whole Covenant:

Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. The Concept of Whole Covenant.Salt enjoys a special status among all food substances that man consumes. The intimate connection of Salt with the idea of a “COVENANT” or binding contract or binding relationship, as a mark of Loyalty and Faithfulness, between man and God and between man and man is recognized in all human cultures.

Salt is universally used as a seasoning and as a preservative of food. Salt enjoys a special status among all food substances that a man consumes. The status of Salt as a life-giving and life-sustaining substance is well-founded. The intimate connection of Salt with the idea of a covenant or a binding relationship between man and God, and between man and man is recognized in all human cultures.

The idea of “a covenant of salt forever” is found in The Fourth Book of Moses, The Numbers, Chapter 18, verse 19: “It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the Lord for both you and your offspring.” Similarly, The Third Book of Moses, The Leviticus, Chapter 2, verse 13 reads: “Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings, add salt to all your offerings.” The special status enjoyed by salt is reflected in the phrases popularly used in the languages of different people; “Untrue to Salt”(Persian), “Trespass not against the Salt”(Greek), “There is Salt between Us”(Arabic), “Injury or Harm to Salt”(“Namaq or Namak Haram” – Indian). Jesus very effectively communicates the relationship between the status of salt and the nature of man. The nature of man is understood in terms of his behavior, character, and conduct. It is expected of a man to display respect, faithfulness, and loyalty in his relationship with other persons where the relationship is established by the covenant of salt. Jesus directly instructs people to reject any person who has lost the fundamental characteristics of character and integrity and states His view by comparing the man to salt. By accepting food, by consuming food, and by deriving nourishment and sustenance from food, the man has established a binding relationship forever with his food provider.

Whole Food – Whole Trade:

Eating the Right Food also includes the concern about making the Right Choices for the buying, marketing, and selling food to its consumers. The Concept of Whole Trade.

In recent times, the concerns about the buying, the marketing and selling of food items by the food retail industry has developed into ideas such as ‘Fair-Trade’, ‘Eco-Trade’, and Whole Trade guarantee. There is a growing genuine moral and ethical concern to support the living conditions of people and communities involved in growing Food. There is a growing interest to consume Food that is called ‘Local’; food that is grown or manufactured in the local communities. The man must consume Food for his living and he may have to do it in a morally and ethically responsible manner. These concerns have generated the demand for ethical and compassionate treatment of all animals used as Food for human consumption. Food and Agriculture Industry are developing standards for Compassionate Treatment of Animals. The concept of ‘Whole Food’ includes the moral and ethical principles that man would apply to define his food-related behavior.

Whole Food – Whole Life:

The Theory of Food – Spiritual Optics: Whole Dude Defines Whole Food as the Spectrum of Seven Colors. Salutations to Mother Annapurna. The name Annapurna is the Original Source of Whole or Purna Concept (Always Full, Complete and Perfect). My mother’s name is the equivalent of Whole Foods. In the final analysis, the man’s attitude about living his life to the fullest extent is reflected through his relationship with Food.

I define the term ‘Whole Food’ as follows taking into consideration the five aspects of the role of Food in supporting the biological existence of the man in his community, and environment. Indeed, no man is truly capable of an existence that excludes the social community and the physical environment in which he exists:

1. Whole Food provides the nutritional substances for the Physical well-being of man and supports his living functions.

2. Whole Food provides the psychological satisfaction, the mental contentment that a man needs to support his Mental well-being.

3. Whole Food provides the stimulus for social relationships and social bonding that a man needs to support his Social well-being.

4. Whole Food provides the ability to a man to express his moral and ethical principles to support his Moral well-being.

5. Whole Food provides the Spiritual basis for the man’s relationship with Divine Providence to support the Spiritual well-being of man.

Whole Food comprises of the nutritional substances that support a man’s Physical, Mental, Social, Moral, and Spiritual well-being. These five components of well-being are important to generate the experience of Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in human Life. There is no Joy in Life and there is no Happiness in Mind, and there will be no Love in Heart until man finds Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility in the Living Experience. I say that, Whole Food gives man the experience of Whole Life; a Life of Satisfaction, Contentment, and Happiness.

I use this method of ‘Applied Philosophy’ to analyze the concept of Spiritual Optics, the spiritual dimension of the relationship between the man and the substances he consumes as food.

The definition of food as any substance consumed to provide the nutritional support to an organism is incomplete as it fails to describe the totality of the relationship between food and its consumer. I describe the Seven Dimensions of the man. These are, 1. The Physical, 2. The Mental, 3. The Social, 4. The Moral, 5. The Spiritual, 6. The Creative, and 7. The Rational. I define Whole Food as substances consumed by the man to provide support to the Seven Dimensions of the man. Hence, Whole Food is defined as the Spectrum of Seven Colors for the generation of food involves a creative mechanism operating the fundamental Light and Matter photochemical interactions.

5. Whole Food provides the spiritual basis for the man’s relationship with Divine Providence to support the Spiritual well-being of man.

6. The creative dimension of the man is reflected by the imagination and the skills deployed by the man in the preparation of his food and the artistic presentation of the food.

7. In the final analysis, the man as a Rational Being will choose to eat to live with a purpose rather than to live to eat without any purpose in life.

Whole Food comprises of the nutritional substances that support a man’s Physical, Mental, Social, Moral, and Spiritual well-being. These five components of well-being are important to generate the experience of peace, harmony, and tranquility in human Life and the human existence.

OBESITY-THE PROBLEM OF EXCESSIVE EATING:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. It requires the formulation of Eating Behavior that is consistent with inner cues of Hunger and Satiety. A Balanced Diet may or may not provide the experience called Satiation.

The word ‘obese’ is derived from Latin word “obedere” which means to devour (ob + edere means about + eat). Obesity is the result of excessive eating. Obesity is the commonest effect of continued over consumption of calories. This blog post intends to explore the preventive principles that could be applied to curb  the behavior that leads to excessive eating. Preventive principles could be different from principles used in the treatment of obesity. Prevention of excessive eating would be of value in the clinical management of obese patients but should not be viewed as a curative regime. Obese patients may need other interventions apart from restriction of dietary intake. In my opinion, the prevention of obesity involves the ability to formulate eating behavior that is consistent with inner cues of hunger and satiety.

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. The measurement of body weight is the simplest and the least direct method of measuring the fat content in the body.

Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder of modern times. Obesity can occur at any stage of life. Obesity in childhood and adolescence has become common and is viewed with a sense of alarm. Obesity is defined as a condition in which there is an excess deposit of fat in (and on) the body with an increase in body weight more than 10 percent above the normal for the age, sex, height, and stock or clan. Body weight is a valuable screening measure for obesity. The measurement of body weight is the simplest and the least direct method of measuring the fat content in the body. It must be very carefully noted that we have tools to measure body weight and that we have no tools to measure or estimate the sensations called Hunger and Satiety. Hence, the preventive principles are not evidence-based, and are only reason-based. It will not be practical to provide consistent results while we depend upon criteria such as Hunger and Satiety which are not measurable quantities that could be stated using a precise, scientifically accurate method. To deal with the problem of obesity, we have to deal with the issues of Hunger and Satiety to regulate feeding behavior and to control caloric intake. Patterns of eating behavior and physical activity are influenced by social, cultural, and economic factors. Hence, obesity is a complex issue but the complexity should not stop us from preventing the problem of excessive eating. Genetic factors may influence total body fat and its distribution. However, the epidemic of obesity is not caused by the prevalence of a defective gene or genes.

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. Hypothalamus has nerve centers that are sensitive to changes in blood chemistry, water, products of digestion, and temperature. Hunger, Thirst, and Satiety are regulated by Hypothalamus.

The brain mechanisms involved in feeding motivation include a complex network that involves the Limbic System that controls the emotional states and the Hypothalamus at the base of the brain. Hypothalamus has nerve centers sensitive to changes in blood chemistry, water, products of digestion and temperature. A nerve center called Ventromedial Nucleus is described as the ‘Satiety Center’. It is the clearing house for satiety signals. Lesions in this area cause gross overeating or hyperphagia. The nerve center in the lateral hypothalamic area is described as the ‘Eating Center’ or ‘Hunger Center’. It facilitates feeding responses. Electrical stimulation of this area elicits voracious feeding and lesions in this area cause prolonged noneating or aphagia. Glucose receptors are present in the cells of the above nuclei which monitor the level of the circulating blood glucose in order to produce the appropriate response. Excessive eating can be controlled by direct electrical stimulation of Satiety Center.

Internal changes that initiate behavioral changes are commonly termed ‘Drive’ or ‘Motivation’. Hunger is a sensation associated with various physiological changes that stimulate the drive to search for food. Most people are familiar with the sensation described as hunger pangs. The responsiveness of the brain mechanisms for feeding is governed by messages reporting the nutritional state of the body. Responsiveness is higher with increasing lack of food in the body. The contents of these messages are primary determinants of the level of feeding motivation. Hunger and Satiety represent high and low levels of feeding motivation.

FOOD AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION-THE WHOLE REGULATION:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. Hypothalamus has nerve centers that are sensitive to changes in blood chemistry, water, products of digestion, and temperature. Hunger, Thirst, and Satiety are regulated by Hypothalamus.

Life depends upon a virtually uninterrupted supply of materials for its metabolism. For purposes of survival, metabolic expenditure cannot exceed food intake for very long period. In principle, feeding must proceed throughout life at a pace equal to that of metabolism. In many cases, food intake does not closely follow caloric expenditure. It is permissible for food intake to lag when there are reserves in the body. Discrepancies between intake and expenditure leads to distortion of the basic pattern of caloric regulation. The capacity of the digestive system may set a limit on nutrient supply to the body. Such limitations play a role in human feeding behavior. In man, the capacity of food-gathering and of the digestive system exceed the demands of metabolism. The man has the inherent physiological capabilities and anatomical capacity to consume food and calories in excess of his normal metabolic requirements. It should not be a surprise to observe a similar predisposition to obesity among human pet animals like dogs and cats.

The lack of fuel in the body can be corrected by intake of food that provides energy. Ingested food (calories) passes from 1. the mouth to 2. the digestive tract to 3. the blood stream, and then to 4. storage sites such as liver and fat tissues. These four regions are continuously monitored using a variety of receptors:

1. Organs for taste, smell, and touch in the mouth region. 2. Distension receptors or mechanoreceptors in the stomach and gastrointestinal tract that monitor the volume. 3. Chemoreceptors that monitor the nature of contents of the blood stream. 4. Receptors in Hypothalamus and Liver for monitoring of fat tissues.

The signals converge on the brain mechanism for the feeding motivation using nervous and humoral or chemical pathways. The signals have two kinds of effects; 1. if signals from the four regions report increased fuel contents, the feeding motivation is lowered and satiety is raised, and 2. if taste, visual, and smell receptors are stimulated by palatable food the feeding motivation is increased. The signals for satiation override the signals for hunger and feeding stimulation. Food intake stops when feeding motivation drops below a critical level. When food is catabolized, it causes fuel depletion. Gastric emptying and emptying of Colon and Rectum also stimulate hunger sensation causing resumption of feeding. Once feeding is resumed, intake is enhanced by the positive effects of food stimulus. The interplay of positive and negative feedbacks from food intake tends to maintain a balance between caloric intake and energy output so that body fuel content or body weight in fully grown individuals remains constant. Few people adjust their food intake to meet their needs on a daily basis. The excess Glucose that is not utilized by the body is stored in the Liver as Glycogen which is further converted into fat. The excess amount of fat remains stored in the body fat tissues. The control of the amount of energy reserve in the fat tissue and the nature of control system is not fully understood. The physiological stimuli and changes associated with hunger could be stimuli for coordinating the long-term regulation of the reserve energy. However, it must be noted that a man can accumulate energy reserves and yet experience hunger sensation that is normally generated by a lack of fuel in the body.

FOOD AND ENERGY-THE WHOLE BALANCE:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. Hypothalamus has nerve centers that are sensitive to changes in blood chemistry, water, products of digestion, and temperature. Hunger, Thirst, and Satiety are regulated by Hypothalamus. The regulation of energy balance. Energy homeostasis relies on controls exerted on both energy intake and energy expenditure. The control of energy expenditure can be exerted on the muscle activity as well as on BAT thermogenesis. Those controls are insured by different brain structures that compose the cortical executive circuits, reward circuits, and autonomic circuits. The activity of the brain networks is influenced by peripheral homeostatic signals that inform the central nervous system about energy stores. Palatable food also influences cognitive aspects including motivation and pleasure. 2AG, 2-arachidonoylglycerol; ACC, anterior cingulate cortex; CB1R, cannabinoid receptor 1; D2R, dopamine receptor 2; DVC, dorsal-vagal complex; MBH, mediobasal hypothalamus; NAc, nucleus accumbens; PFC, prefrontal cortex; SN, substancia nigra; VTA, ventral tegmental area.

Exercise consumes carbohydrates and most of the fat. Obesity or excess fat accumulation is the consequence of imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure. Obesity develops if physical activity or energy expenditure becomes very low and the person is not able to reduce food intake or energy intake. In modern times, people are able to obtain their food with little or no physical effort. New sources of power do the work formerly carried out by human muscles. Large number of people spend time without physical activity. People have appetites and are seldom really hungry. A very small excess of calories if habitual, can lead eventually to a large accumulation of fat. It has been reported that if a person eats a slice (20 g) of bread that is not needed each day or goes by car instead of walking for 20 minutes, the daily extra 48 KCal or 200 KJ will build up over 10 years to 20 Kg of fat deposited. In simplest terms, obesity is the outcome of consistent consumption of more calories than are required to meet the energy expenditure of that particular person.

FOOD AND OBESITY-THE WHOLE PROBLEM:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. Hypothalamus has nerve centers that are sensitive to changes in blood chemistry, water, products of digestion, and temperature. Hunger, Thirst, and Satiety are regulated by Hypothalamus.

The causation of obesity is still difficult to explain. There are differences between obese and non-obese individuals in respect of hormone secretion and metabolism. Endocrine changes at puberty, during pregnancy, and at menopause may contribute to obesity at these stages of life. The effects of obesity are better understood than the causes of obesity. In Medicine, obesity is described as a clinical condition with several probable causes. Some of the organic pathological causes of obesity include endocrine disorders such as hypopituitarism, hypothyroidism and hypogonadism. Hormonal changes associated with menopause, Anterior Pituitary tumor causing Cushing’s Syndrome, Dercum’s disease (Adiposis dolorosa), and Frohlich’s Syndrome (Posterior Pituitary Deficiency) are causes of obesity. In a few obese individuals, psychiatric mood disorders such as depression and anxiety could be present. Depressed or anxious patients or the emotionally deprived may seek solace in food and such emotional factors play a role in the predisposition towards excessive eating. Overeating could be a symptom of boredom or emotional frustration. In mental diseases, bizarre disturbances of appetite, taste , and food preference may be seen. Some well-known examples are Anorexia nervosa and Bulimia. Self-imposed starvation may develop after bereavement or after disappointment in love. It must be understood that the functions of food include that of obtaining a sense of emotional satisfaction apart from satiation of hunger. The most important and the most universal cause of obesity among otherwise normal people is overeating and lack of exercise.

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. The measurement of body weight is the simplest and the least direct method of measuring the fat content in the body.

The prevalence of obesity has increased worldwide in the past ~50 years, reaching pandemic levels. Obesity represents a major health challenge because it substantially increases the risk of diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, fatty liver disease, hypertension, myocardial infarction, stroke, dementia, osteoarthritis, obstructive sleep apnea and several cancers, thereby contributing to a decline in both quality of life and life expectancy. Obesity is also associated with unemployment, social disadvantages and reduced socio-economic productivity, thus increasingly creating an economic burden. Thus far, obesity prevention and treatment strategies — both at the individual and population level — have not been successful in the long term. Lifestyle and behavioral interventions aimed at reducing calorie intake and increasing energy expenditure have limited effectiveness because complex and persistent hormonal, metabolic and neurochemical adaptations defend against weight loss and promote weight regain. Reducing the obesity burden requires approaches that combine individual interventions with changes in the environment and society. Therefore, a better understanding of the remarkable regional differences in obesity prevalence and trends might help to identify societal causes of obesity and provide guidance on which are the most promising intervention strategies. WHOLE FOOD AND WHOLE SATISFACTION:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. What is the original source of the experience called Satiety?

The word desire or craving involves the feelings to wish, covet, or long for something. Similarly, the word appetite describes a desire to satisfy some craving of the body. The term greed describes excessive desire especially for wealth or food. The term lust describes a passionate sexual desire without idealized or spiritualized feelings. The word glutton describes someone who indulges excessively in eating and drinking. All of these kinds of passionate desires or appetites have a common feature. The behavior that is attributable to greed, lust, and gluttony could be influenced by man’s sense of contentment. The role of contentment could be explained by understanding the following quote from the Books of The Old Testament, The Ecclesiastes, Chapter 5, verse 18:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. Eat and Drink to find Satisfaction in Life.

“Then I realized that is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of his life God has given him – for this is his lot.”

While it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, the acts of gratification; eating, and drinking may not provide a sense of satisfaction that is complete and that overcomes the craving for food and drink. Contentment is the factor which determines as to the degree of gratification that is needed for producing the effect called satisfaction. The man can choose to set the bar called contentment at a high or a low-level and experience the effect called satisfaction while seeking gratification of his desires. To conquer the insatiable enemy called desire, to achieve the result called satisfaction, one must overcome the senses, the mind, and intelligence which are the sitting places of desire. To accomplish the purpose of restraining the senses, the mind, and intelligence, we must know the man as the Whole Organism. I divide man into two categories; 1. The Self (the Lower-Self)that represents the man as a physical, mental, and social being, and 2. The Knowing-Self ( the Higher-Self)that represents the man as the moral, and spiritual being. The Knowing-Self is the Higher-Self and hence it can exercise control and restraint over the Lower-Self which includes the physical body, the sense organs, the mind and intellect, which are the seats of all passionate desires.

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. The problem of food cravings and food addiction.

In obese people, eating is less often determined by internal cues like hunger and satiety. For many obese people, the craving to eat is very strong and is similar to the craving for alcohol in the alcoholic and for a cigarette in a person addicted to tobacco smoke. The problem of food cravings is a significant factor in the management of obesity. The failure to respond to a dietary plan that restricts food and caloric intake is often caused by the inability to overcome food cravings which leads to non-compliance. The eating or feeding behavior is influenced by the man’s sense of contentment. A person who lives in a state of self-contentment experiences a little less hunger and experiences a sense of satiation or satisfaction more easily after a routine meal. Such a person who is self-contented is not prone to food cravings. He may not need a dietary plan and may not need to count the calories he consumes. He is more likely to maintain a steady body weight without the requirement of changing the level of physical activities. The man has the ability to set his expectations at a level and experience contentment with what he has. If there is contentment, the desire for food and drink is easily satisfied. A contented man is more likely to meet the daily requirements of calories for optimal physiological functioning without gaining body weight. The prevention of obesity could be helped by a proper understanding of food, its nature, and its functions.

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. Food is a substance eaten for nourishment, for psychological satisfaction, and to support Social Bonding. There is Spiritual Relationship between Food and its Consumer. The Concept of Balanced Diet is silent about the relationship between Food and its Consumer.

Food is a substance eaten for nourishment. Food serves functions other than nutrition. Food plays a vital role in the development, and the maintenance of social interactions, social relationships, and is the fundamental basis for the man’s spiritual relationship with a source of energy and its provider which sustains life and existence.

WHOLE FOOD AND WHOLE LIFE:

Most important biological processes involve Oxidation-Reduction or Redox Reactions to acquire Oxidative energy from other substances termed nutrients. The burning of a substance in air is rapid Oxidation or Combustion which is not of much use for living systems. Plants and Animals use a form of Oxidation called Respiration to liberate energy stored in food materials.

Food describes any substance which a living organism can convert into energy and new tissue using the process of metabolism. The body fluids surrounding each cell are the immediate source of nutrients. The nutrients supplied by food are either used as building blocks in synthesizing large molecules or they are oxidized producing a form of energy that is further used for powering the activities of the cell. To maintain life, an organism not only repairs or replaces (or both) its structures by a constant supply of the materials of which it is composed but also keeps its life processes in operation by a steady supply of energy. The Living Systems must be supplied energy for continual synthesis of new organic molecules and to replace or to repair broken organic molecules. Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Professor of Anatomy and Physiology, Dean of the Harvard Medical School (1847 to 1882) defines life, “To live is to function; and that is all there is in living.” At the cellular level, the living functions include uptake and conversion of nutrients, synthesis of new molecules, production of energy, and regulation and coordination of metabolic sequences.

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. The Living Cell is a thermodynamically unstable system. This means that without a continuous input of Energy, a Living Cell will degrade spontaneously into a collection of nonliving molecules.

The processes of synthesis and breakdown of the organic molecules of the cell are termed metabolism. Metabolism is divided into two categories; 1. Anabolism- it describes the processes of maintenance and growth, and 2. Catabolism- it describes the processes that breaks down molecules to release energy. The Living Cell depends on a virtually uninterrupted supply of materials for its metabolism. The Living Cell is a thermodynamically unstable system. This means that without a continuous input of energy, a Cell will degrade spontaneously into a nonliving collection of molecules. Food supplies organic molecules and other substances as nourishment to sustain life. Life is characterized by the presence of complex transformation of organic molecules and by the organization of such molecules into successively larger units of protoplasm, cells, organs, and tissues.

WHOLE FOOD AND WHOLE POWER:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. Protoplasm or Cytoplasm is the clear, soft, gelatinous living substance found inside all living cells. A most striking characteristic of Protoplasm is its vital property of Nutrition. Nutrition is the power which Protoplasm has of attracting to itself the materials that provide energy and are necessary for its growth and maintenance.

All the tissues and organs of which the human body is composed, consists of building blocks called Cells. Each Living Cell contains soft, gelatinous, semi-fluid, viscous, clear or translucent, colloidal living substance or matter called Protoplasm or Cytoplasm or Cytosol. A most striking characteristic of protoplasm is its vital property of ‘Nutrition’. Nutrition is described as the ‘power’ which protoplasm has of attracting to itself the materials that provide the energy, and the substances for its growth and maintenance from surrounding matter/environment. Nutrition, as a biological function and activity, is the evidence for the operation of Consciousness at cellular level. The Living Cell is conscious or aware of its own existence in its given environment, it is conscious or aware of its energy dependent state of internal condition, and consciously uses its power of nutrition to attract substances from its immediate environment. The Living Cell displays its living functions while it exists as a conscious entity. The Cell Death is characterized by the absence of the power of nutrition, and in the absence of energy input or food intake, the Cell dies. Consciousness and Food are related to each other. Consciousness gives the power of attracting Food and Food provides the ability to live with Consciousness which is the most important characteristic of life. The human organism exists because of the functions of the trillions of cells. The purpose of consciousness is to foster functional unity of the multicellular organism and establish it as an individual. This conscious individual experiences hunger, and thirst which provide the drive or motivation to initiate his feeding behavior. Each individual cell uses its own power of Nutrition to attract the nutrients from the body fluids that are present in its immediate environment. Certain metabolic disorders and conditions like Diabetes are associated with problems of food intake at cellular level. The man may feed himself, and nutrients like glucose accumulate in the blood stream and fail to provide the nourishment needed by the cells. Similarly, there are several mental diseases that are associated with a variety of eating disorders, and bizarre disturbances of appetite, taste, and food preference.

WHOLE FOOD AND WHOLE NUTRITION:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. The Protoplasm has the power of Nutrition. The Cell Membrane or the Biological Membrane is not a simple physical barrier separating the Cell from its surrounding environment. The Cell Membrane plays an active role in food intake.

The Biological Membrane, the Cell Membrane or the Plasma Membrane separates the living cell from its environment and from other cells. It helps to maintain a constant ‘milieu’ in which intracellular reactions occur. The Plasma Membrane allows a highly controlled exchange of matter across the barrier it poses; some compounds are able to pass through the Membrane easily, others are completely blocked. Food must provide adequate amounts of all chemical elements needed by the Cells. Of the approximately 35 elements known to occur in cells, four (Oxygen, Carbon, Hydrogen, and Nitrogen) make up about 95 percent of the cell weight. Nine elements (Calcium, Phosphorus, Chlorine, Sulfur, Potassium, Sodium, Magnesium, Iodine, and Iron) contribute about 4 percent of the cell weight. The remaining 20+ elements together constitute less than 1 percent of cell weight and are called trace elements because they occur in minute quantities. However, many such as Copper, and Zinc fulfil vital functions. Animal cells do not have the ability to synthesize certain complex organic molecules from simple inorganic compounds. Certain large organic molecules that serve as building blocks that must be supplied by food are known as essential dietary components. They include Vitamins, Essential Amino Acids, and Essential Fatty Acids. The man has restricted synthetic powers as compared to the bacteria and hence needs greater number of essential foodstuffs. The man derives energy solely from the breakdown of complex organic molecules, mainly Carbohydrates and Fats. Fuel for the maintenance of life comes from other living organisms or their products. Human life ultimately depends on the existence of green plants that can use inorganic source of energy such as Solar radiation. Terrestrial life depends upon an extraterrestrial source of Energy. All terrestrial organisms live as energy dependent entities and live by establishing a relationship with a source of energy.

WHOLE FOOD AND THE WHOLE CONNECTION:

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. The human life begins as a single cell, the fertilized Ovum. How does it obtain food and energy? The man exists because of a “Connection” with an Energy Provider.
Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. The man’s life journey begins as an Embryo which gets implanted into the maternal tissues by about 6 days after its conception. Thus, mother is the source of Food and Energy to establish human life.

The man exists because of a “Connection.” In nature, a man exists as an energy seeker or heterotroph. The human existence becomes possible only when a man is connected to an energy provider. This biological connection to a source of energy is made possible when biological information is implanted in the single, fertilized Egg Cell which begins its journey to grow and develop into a new organism. If Sun is viewed as a source of energy for all life on this planet, the man is not directly connected to that source of energy. The man exists as a multicellular organism and each cell derives its energy from powerhouses called mitochondria; the intracellular membrane bound organelles found in all living cells.

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. The man exists as energy seeker. Mitochondria are the powerhouses found inside all living cells. They establish the ‘Connection’ between the energy seeker and the energy provider.

The mitochondria have the necessary biological information to transform oxidative energy into a form of chemical energy that the cell could further use for its living functions. In nature, the man obtains food from other organisms. Only the green-celled plants known as autotrophs can directly convert light energy into chemical energy that they can further use.

Whole Dude – Whole Regulation: How to Regulate the Feeding Behavior? The Principles of Obesity Prevention. Green-celled plants are known as autotrophs. They can directly convert light energy into chemical energy that they further use to manufacture plant substances and products. The Chloroplasts act like Solar Panels to capture inorganic light energy. The Chloroplasts act like a relay station in the flow of energy from the Sun to Man who uses the Mitochondria to establish this Connection.

The man is connected to these Chloroplasts of green plant cells that have the ability to trap Sun’s light energy. Sun’s energy is an extraterrestrial source of energy and it is provided to man by the intervention of Chloroplasts and the Mitochondria which man directly acquires from his mother’s Egg Cell. These biological mechanisms are put in place and they operate outside the intellectual or physical abilities of the man. In my blog post titled, ‘The Divine Mother of Life, Energy, and Knowledge, I describe the mother as the source of life, energy, and knowledge, which is often described as the Cytoplasmic Inheritance.

WHOLE FOOD AND WHOLE BONDING:

The Rudolf-Rudi Connection at Whole Foods. The Prevention of Obesity.

This placental connection between mother and her fetus establishes an anatomical relationship and a social relationship and social bonding between the two both during the duration of pregnancy and after the delivery of the baby. The man’s feeding behavior and feeding activities are influenced by social, and external environmental factors. Both, the timing of feeding, and the choice of food are affected by social facilitation. Food-directed activities in social situations demonstrate the ability of food to establish connection between food provider and the food consumer. There is also a direct emotional relationship between man and the food he consumes. The causes for excessive or overeating are not yet fully understood. The physiological mechanisms of hunger and thirst cannot fully account for the feeding behavior of man. Just like lust, and greed, the man has psychological desire or craving for food and develops an intimate relationship with the food and drink he consumes. However, a man can always express his craving for food in a spiritual context and seek the satisfaction provided by knowing the nature of God-Connection.

WHOLE FOOD AND WHOLE COVENANT

The Rudolf-Rudi Connection at Whole Foods. The Prevention of Obesity. Discover the purpose of food. Salt enjoys a special status among all food substances that man consumes. The intimate connection of salt with the idea of a “COVENANT” or binding contract or binding relationship, as a mark of Loyalty and Faithfulness, between man and God and between man and man is recognized in all human cultures.

Salt is universally used as a seasoning and as a preservative of food. Salt enjoys a special status among all food substances that man consumes. The status of salt as a life-giving and life-sustaining substance is well-founded. The intimate connection of salt with the idea of a “COVENANT” or binding relationship between man and God, and between man and man is recognized in all human cultures. The idea of “a covenant of salt forever” is found in The Fourth Book of Moses, The Old Testament Book of Numbers, Chapter 18, verse 19: “It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the Lord for both you and your offspring.” Similarly, The Third Book of Moses, The Old Testament Book of Leviticus, Chapter 2, verse 13 reads: “Season all your grain offerings with salt. It is expected of man to display respect, faithfulness, and loyalty in his relationship with other persons where the relationship is established by the covenant of salt. Jesus directly instructs people to reject any person who has lost the fundamental characteristics of character and integrity and states His view by comparing the man to salt. “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” (Matthew 5:13)

Theory of Whole Food and the Prevention of Obesity. Food that is seasoned with salt and is given as offering to God, and food that is seasoned with salt and is given to another person establishes a binding contract, a covenant, a binding relationship which has validity of its own. The nature of this social bonding and binding social relationship is reflected in the words used by Jesus while He delivered His Sermon on the Mount: “You are the Salt of the earth. But, if the Salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled by men.”

By accepting food, by consuming food, and by deriving nourishment and sustenance from food, the man establishes a binding relationship forever with his food provider.

WHOLE FOOD AND WHOLE RELATIONSHIP:

Theory of Whole Food and the Prevention of Obesity. The purpose in Life and the purpose in eating. The Last Supper- The Gospel according to Saint Mark, Chapter 14, verse 22, and the Gospel according to Saint Matthew, Chapter 26, verse 26 and the Gospel according to Saint Luke, Chapter 22, verse 19, depict the scene called the Last Supper. The ritual instituted by Jesus establishes the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion. Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve apostles was the betrayer and is depicted by the person who is leaving the dinner table with bread in his hand.

Jesus Christ describes Himself as the Spiritual Food of man. In the Gospel according to Saint John, Chapter 6, verse 35, Jesus declares, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” Further, the Book of John, Chapter 6, verse 48 also reveals the purpose of Jesus, “I am the bread of life. I am the living bread that came down from heaven.” Virtually all Christian Churches celebrate the practice of Communion such as Mass, Eucharist, or Lord’s Supper in some form or the other.

Theory of Whole Food and the Prevention of Obesity. A purpose for living and a purpose for eating.

The First Epistle of Apostle Paul to the Corinthians, Chapter 10, verse 31 instructs, “so whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Apart from the satisfaction of hunger and thirst, man uses food and drink to derive a psychological satisfaction by establishing a spiritual connection with God who is the ultimate Food Provider.

In all religious traditions and cultures of this world, food is associated with God. Food is used in the ritualistic worship of God, food is offered to God, and food is consumed in the name of God. Most religious festivals involve the use of food in celebration of God’s Mercy, Grace and Compassion. Food is traditionally used as the medium for fomenting a spiritual relationship with God.

WHOLE FOOD AND WHOLE UNITY:

Theory of Whole Food and the Prevention of Obesity. “Annam Brahma, RasO Vishnu, Bhokta DevO MaheswaraH” – The Divine Trinity-Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva define the Indian tradition about Food and Spirituality. Lord Brahma, the Creator symbolizes solid food called Annam, Lord Vishnu the Protector symbolizes liquid food called Rasa, and Lord Shiva the Destroyer symbolizes the Food Consumer called Bhokta. Food and Drink are described as Bhojan, the person who consumes Food and Drink is described as Bhokta. Both Food and the Food Consumer symbolize the Divine Entity. Both man and food are created by God using the powers of Creativity. The nature of man, and the synthesis of food by plants using the process called Photosynthesis involve the use of creative mechanisms and the implantation of supernatural knowledge.

The Indian tradition  describes Food and Drink as God and man the consumer of Food and Drink is also described as God. The man must view food as a spiritual substance; spiritual nourishment provided by the LORD God Creator and that devotional attitude towards food would provide nutrition, psychological satisfaction, and social bonding which is complete and wholesome. The creation of Earth, and the Status of Man in nature are the fundamental attributes of the Divine Being and His Divine Powers. The physical, mental, and social well-being of a man is nourished by food that formulates the man’s spiritual relationship with food and the food provider.

WHOLE FOOD AND THE WHOLE PRINCIPLES OF OBESITY PREVENTION:

Theory of Whole Food and the Whole Principles of Obesity Prevention. The Higher-Self can regulate the feeding behavior of the Lower-Self.

1. The man has to eat and drink all his life. 2. The man has a predisposition to obesity as his anatomical structure and physiological functions may not prevent excessive consumption of calories even when the body has satisfactory energy reserve. 3. The man derives nutrients, psychological satisfaction, and develops social bonding by using food. 4. Food when used as a spiritual medium, provides a complete sense of satisfaction and leads to contentment in life. 5. The man has the ability to control his senses, his feelings, and his intellect by acquiring knowledge about food. The Higher-Self can regulate the feeding behavior of the Lower-Self. 6. The man can choose and set limits to his experience of contentment in life. He can set the level of expectation in a manner that the gratification of his desires produces the effect called satiation or satisfaction to defend his physical, mental, social, moral, and spiritual well-being.
