The Bangladesh Ops of 1971-72. My Story from the Chittagong Hill Tracts

In the execution of General Urban’s military plan some of the Phantoms, gallant members of the Fifth Army sacrificed their lives. General Uban was not present when the real heroes were cremated or buried. Apart from myself, I presume that the Chakma might have seen where the ‘Phantoms of Chittagong’ were buried. .

SPECIAL FRONTIER FORCE – OPERATION EAGLE – WHOLE JUSTICE

“Justice delayed is Justice denied.” My brother wrote to Dr. Manmohan Singh demanding Justice in the award of gallantry award for my role in Operation Eagle.

OPERATION EAGLE – WHOLE BATTLE

Army Medical corps faces its greatest challenge in providing initial Resuscitative Care to the Battle Casualty in the Combat Zone.

OPERATION EAGLE – WHOLE PSYCHOLOGY

The psychological preparation for war demands that the man should overcome his ‘Fear of Death’ so that he could physically march toward’s his enemy’s position and willingly confront the threat of Death.Indian Tradition views this as an act of severing the pedicle or stalk of a Cucumber to separate it from its attachment to the Vine. Breaking Free from Attachment is the Mantra.

OPERATION EAGLE – WHOLE EXPERIENCE

The memorable foot journey through the forests of Chittagong Hill Tracts while evacuating battle wounded casualties of Indo-Pak War of 1971, and the unexpected encounter with a Chakma tribal youth who had needed help.

OPERATION EAGLE – WHOLE ARMY

In the history of Indian Army Medical Corps, I had the unique privilege to perform the tasks of Nursing Assistant and Ambulance Assistant in providing patient care and comfort when I had accompanied on foot and medically evacuated my battle casualties during the Indo-Pak War of 1971.

OPERATION EAGLE – WHOLE AWARD

MS-8466 Captain. R. Rudra Narasimham, AMC/SSC had served as a Medical Officer at Headquarters Establishment No. 22 from September 1971 to December 1974. He does not want to forfeit his right to claim the gallantry award of VIR CHAKRA which was recommended but not actually awarded.

SPECIAL FRONTIER FORCE – WHOLE PHANTOM

Major General (Retd) Sujan Singh Uban, AVSM, the former Inspector General of Special Frontier Force had published his story titled The Phantoms of Chittagong : The Fifth Army in Bangladesh and had narrated the successful military operation in Chittagong Hill Tracts in the 1971 War of Liberation of Bangladesh. I would like to tell the Untold story.

SPECIAL FRONTIER FORCE – WHOLE PERSIAN

Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw belonged to the Parsi Community which had arrived in India from Persia. I started my military career while Sam Bahadur was the Indian Army’s top Commander. He led Indian Armed Forces to a great victory during Indo-Pak War of 1971. This military experience has helped me while I had participated in Security and Intelligence Operations conducted at Strait of Hormuz, Persian Gulf while serving in the Land Forces of Sultanate of Oman.

ESTABLISHMENT22 – WHOLE CASUALTY

The Indo-Pak War of 1971 is memorable because of Fallen Heroes on both sides. Wars cannot be won without human sacrifice. The Attacking Party and the Defending Party have to display Valor in the true Traditions of rendering Military Service.
