Pencil in Water Illusion

Stimulus Distortion Illusion – A visual or optical illusion produced by the refraction or bending of light rays as it passes from one substance to another in which the speed of light is significantly different. A ray of light passing from one transparent medium(Air) to another(Water) is bent at the surface where air and water meet. Thus the pencil in standing water seems bent at the surface where air and water meet.
