The renowned Dalai Lama Centre for Ethics and Transformative Values which is based at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, is set to open its South Asia Centre in Hyderabad. The director of the Dalai Lama Centre for Ethics and Transformative Values Tenzin Priyadarshini informed the Telangana IT Minister K.T.Rama Rao and Tourism Minister A Chandulal about this development reports The Hindu. The reason Hyderabad is chosen is because of the infrastructure and other facilities adds the report. Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao thanked Tenzin Priyadarshini for this decision and spoke about Telangana’s connection with Buddhism. He reportedly said Telangana was the third biggest state in India to have historic Buddhist places of tourism like Nagarjunasagar which was a renowned centre for Buddhism. The Minister said he would discuss with the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao what support the government could extend for setting up the Dalai Lama Centre for Ethics and Transformative Values. The daily adds that K T Rama Rao said that the government would give five acres of land for the centre. He also said an invitation would be extended to the Dalai Lama to lay the foundation for the Buddha Vanam project in Hyderabad.
